I love how detailed you are in explaining all the nuances and how well you describe your experience. It really helps to understand what to expect. I would love to see the comparison video on 45 degree Cafec vs V60 vs UFO dripper

    Great review!
I love the Deep 27 for small brews. I always have multiple bags open and it's so nice to be able to make 4-5 cups on the weekend without overdoing the caffeine intake.
    Keep up the great work!

I've been saying this for the past three months and I'll say it again: The Deep 27 with ZP6 is an absolutely deadly combination. Probably one of the best coffee purchases I've made and I can't recommend it enough. BTW, I've had no issues going as much as 18g in.

OK. I've got the same combination. Do you mind if I want you to share a click and the best coffee recipe with these two? Thanks.

Thanks for this thorough review! I’ve been waiting quite a while for more reviews of this dripper to hit RUclips.

I used to go to a cafe (closed now) that would exclusively do pour overs in something very similar to this, but made of ceramic. I asked once why they did that instead of a V60 and the owner said the same thing - for single cup brews, this was much more consistent and forgiving and they got better replicable results.

It's a very good dripper for 6-10 gram brews, at 12 grams or more I prefer the V60. I've used the deep 27 quite a lot for the last 6 months and it's so nice to be able to make delicious small brews of my favourite coffees.

I got my Deep 27 recently. The brews I can get from 8 or 10 grams are just amazing. I am really enjoying experimenting with it. I'd love to see your take on a traditional osmotic flow style pour.

Great review! I intend on getting the dripper and the special filters. May you always show "chessed" when dealing with people!

So cool, so fun of a video on “how it sweet is” little coffee dripper. Superbly done. I would love to see you review the #1, #2, #4 and #6 Melitta pour over coffee drippers. ☕️☕️😊 Thank you, Thank you

Great stuff Daddy Coff! Your video convinced me to finally get one of these drippers… I frequently brew 7-8g microdoses to do a side by side comparison of beans originated from different regions and processes, but until now I used V60 v1 cones to be able to taste at least 5 varietals without getting over-caffeinated but also enjoying the sublime diversity of each cup… To complete a well balanced extraction with such minimal doses - despite the relatively thin coffee bed and decreased water pressure due to the 60 degree angle - I usually grind extremely fine in these cases (10 or even 8 RED klix on C40 - which is indeed around 150 microns as already mentioned by another commenter), but this grind size doesn't seem to be an obstacle because I tend to achieve the slow grinding process very accurately (sometimes re-grinding the particles in 2 steps) to keep the flow steady and avoid clogging, and I also remove the excessive fines with vigorous blind shaking... So I have really good microdose tasting results this way without over-extraction - totally the opposite of the uneven & bulky flavor profile which one can get in case of brewing 30-40g amounts with a medium sized cone dripper... So I will definitely buy the Deep 27 because this narrow cone seems to provide the perfect shape for a tiny sample taster!

I would love to try this for osmotic flow and fresh, dark beans. It's fun to get that dome of CO2 and beans that inflates above the rim of the dripper, but it requires a big dose. Something like this would probably allow for thelat with a smaller dose. I would expect this would also get a more efficient extraction, but that is not always desirable with the osmotic flow technique.

I use Osmotic flow style pours and there are different styles in this arena. I like Cafec's style but recently learned another style that is super easy. Can watch that on Brewing Habits channel where he visits coffee shops in Japan and was allowed to film at one. Enjoyed your video on this. I pre-ordered it and still waiting. Will be excited to try it out.

I owned this for a few weeks. My thoughts were, it was fine, but I needed it to be bigger to work for my flow. I brew about 320ml of coffee for my morning cup. And this was too small for that much coffee. It was also quite hard to clean towards the end of the cone. You need a bottle brush or something like that to get down into the small end. I also didn't like the Hario Mugen either, but I could almost make enough coffee in one pour.

11:05 rinsing with hot tap water right after the brew should get rid of pretty much all coffee oils.

Another great post. I'm currently using mostly my Orea dripper (Mk II v3 w/Flat Paper) and do 22g once per day, do you think this dripper has something additional to offer?

  • @GabrielGGabGattringer

    Interesting!
For 6-10g doses I´d use my Orera V3 Mk1 which was pretty good brewing 8-10g doses. Grindsize 150 micron.

I don’t typically go quite that low on my orea, but it’s it’s absolutely possible to get great cups from it there. I find the flower brings forward sweetness in a way that is unique, at the expense of some clarity
