    I'm so glad you made this video! I love the concept of the Deep 27 but haven't been able to get as good of results as with the V60. I'm also sensitive to caffeine and generally drink a single small cup in the morning (like 100 - 150 mL), so it's perfect for me. Really excited to try incorporating these tips. I'm already sure I haven't been seating the filter properly.

    Only took me a few minutes of watching your video to know I needed to pick one up and feel confident I'd be able to make good coffee with it!
    I haven't really been tempted at all to purchase a brewer besides the V60 I already have, but the "end of the bag microdose" has always been a bit annoying. I think the Deep 27 will help turn that annoyance into a special "treat" instead!
    Although I've been brewing with V60 for months now, I feel like I'm still working to understand exactly how to get what I want out of it consistently. You're previous video on pourover variables was very helpful, and with the information in this video I'm curious if I'll be able to get even more consistent results with the Deep 27 than my V60.
    Thanks again for all the wonderful content you create! It's very much appreciated! 😊

    going by brian quan's video where the cafec ceo was first showcasing the deep 27, cafec's ideal use case in mind is single cup osmotic flow where "without thinking a single thought, you pour water right in the middle". so it's probably best suited for when you have fresh, dark beans ground course and a kettle with a long thin spout that can pour with laminar flow at a very low flow rate

It let me wet the bed (of coffee) with a uniform set of gentle droplets over the entire surface, which I could give a few seconds to go through. Then the next set of droplets and wait... It was 100% reliable without fussing.

      The Chemex has smooth walls and very low bypass making the flow rate way slower and I really didn't love the style of brews I got from it. A big reason for the quality of the cups out of the D27 is how fast it is.

    @coffeeandshots День назад

    Interesting review with a lot of things that match my experience and some that don't.
    1. Other filters. If you unfold a D27 filter, you'll find the tip makes a 90° angle. A large Chemex filter square makes four small squares and you can fold the small squares into the appropriate shape for a D27. Should Cafec stop making D27 filters or should the filters become too expensive, that's always an easy solution. Not issues with fitting as long as I prewet at the sink.
    2. For larger doses (15g), I haven't found bypass to be an issue. I think that the pressure difference between the top of the water column and the bottom of the coffee bed make it so that nearly all the water goes through the coffee bed anyway, water at the top doesn't exert a lot of pressure sideways and therefore doesn't "leak" a lot at the top. This might be different for a shallower bed. This was confirmed by extraction numbers at 20% to 24% depending on grind size, pour structure and coffee origins.
    3. Consequently, I haven't found much issue brewing with bloom plus two, three, or four pours and agitating with the kettle stream. I suspect this might also have to do with fact that 250g of water provides much more agitation than 160g of water despite a 10g dose needing as much agitation if not more than a 15g dose.
    4. The plastic has been holding steady for me. I've had mine for four months and despite daily brews it has retained its shine and shows zero crack (unlike transparent V60s). Longer experience is needed, but so far so good.
    5. In fact, it has replaced my V60 and my Cafec Flower, these days, it's either D27 or Espro Bloom when I go for flat bottom.

    • @aramse
      @aramse  23 часа назад

      1. Thanks for the tip. Have you compared the brews, I always preferred the stock ones even when folding flat filter evenly on all sides. It's also a bit annoying to do every time I want to brew, but that's just me. Haha
      2. Oh I never said 15g+ has bypass issues. I just prefer the profile of the brews out of the v60 at those doses. Again personal preference.
      3. Yes, with a higher volume you have more contact time and can get away with fewer pours. Tbh you can do smaller doses with fewer pours but with 6-8 pours you can really bump up extraction and sweetness without any astringency.
      4. I've hand mine for a year and it still look pristine.
      5. I still love the v60 but I too use the D27 more these days.

    • @coffeeandshots
      @coffeeandshots 23 часа назад

      1. Yes, I have compared, though I don't really have a preference for either, I think stock is marginally faster and fresher, Chemex with a single layer on all sides is marginally more transparent and sweet.
      2. 15g is actually the upper limit of my single person brew, I tend to go for 14 most often. Surprisingly, despite its shape, D27 doesn't taste like a super v60 but somewhere between a V60 and a flat brewer, but closer to a v60 to me.
      3. Yes, with smaller doses, I tend to up the number of pours too.
      4. I wish all plastics in coffee brewers were like that resistant.
      5. Same.
