I, like so many others, appreciate the time, energy, effort and expertise you’ve so graciously and selflessly given folks over the years. Thank you Bob! You deserve the rest/peace you are seeking.
Love love Brian. Bob deserves to take a step back. It’s the cycle of life. Welcome welcome Brian. Your heart is easily seen when you speak. I will be honored to continue to follow and learn.
Brian I want to personally thank you for all you do and mostly at this time stepping up to give Bob a much needed hand. Awesome video and keep up the incredible work.
Hi Brian! Nice to meet you! Because of this channel, i left a emotionally abusive relationship 4+ years ago and bought a travel trailor at age 31. I experienced happiness and freedom for the first time. This channel gave me strength and a way out of my situation. Really enjoyed this video!!!!
In the mid 80’s My wife, two small children and I were the first volunteer campground host family ever at Lackawanna State Park located in Northeast PA. We had pitched the idea to Ranger Jerry Frost and he opened the program up. We did this for 5 summers starting in a pop up then into our brand new 24 foot Nomad travel trailer. If someone asked my daughter what state she lived in she would say “State Park”. Those were great years, we have many happy memories and funny stories. I always wanted to be a campground host in retirement, sadly that is not happening. Brian, I really enjoyed watching your host routine and am envious of your nomadic life. Thank you gentlemen for a great video. ☮️ & ❤️
Love Brian, and very glad that Bob isn't going anywhere--just sharing the spotlight. Offering hope. Wow! What a beautiful statement. Bob, you are an inspiration. You are very much needed in these troubled times.
Hey Brian. I jumped forward in this video and went straight to the 'subject matter' and it was only when I started reading the comments that I realized that I had better watch Bob's intro. Being "in the dark" about Bob stepping away, I watched your segment and thought, "gee, this Brian chap has a very kind, gentle, peaceful, and caring soul." I found myself thinking that if he had his own channel, I would probably be drawn to it. Whilst I am bummed that Bob is going to be enjoying his well earned "retirement", I am super interested in what you are going to add to the channel. We all come to a point in life when we step away from the light to allow others to step into it. Thank you Bob and Welcome Brian.
Welcome Brian and Bob enjoy your free time you have earned it. I am working on getting my van set up and hope to be on the road soon and have wondered about being a campground host. It looks like it is very enjoyable. Just being in nature and meeting so many great people. Thanks again Bob for your channel. I came across it about a year ago and bought your book. I read it and thought this is what I really NEED to do.
I was a campground host last year at Lodgepole in Almont, CO. Beautiful place. This year moved down the Taylor River to North Bank Campground. I welcome you all. It's a great experience.
Really enjoying seeing Brian. It will be fun to see more of him doing the videos. This was helpful to know as a camper and for a seasonal worker as well.
Welcome Brian. I understand you Bob, you have helped do many for so long. Brian is going to be a great addition. Hope you keep doing an occasional video Bob.
Hey Brian! Great video....I've never seen a campground host under 65 or so.... You guys must be at that hip, cool park. Great to see a bit of youthful exuberance at the camp host spot!!
When I started 12 years ago, I was definitely the youngest by a long shot. But each year there seems to be a bit more people under 65 applying. Still mostly retirees, but it's nice to have the age diversity at your workplace!

Brian is awesome (He looks, like alot of Fun to hang out with), Bob you picked very well. He's your: Bob, The Next Generation (These are the continuing missions of the Vanlife Enterprise, To Seek out new Destinations, To Boldly Drive, Where no person, has driven before) for sure. Nice reenactment, I really enjoyed it. Thank You for what you do for the Vanlife Community. As Always, Be Smart and Stay Safe.
I love that Brian loves people and that he always wants to be helpful to others. This isn't just a good trait as a camp host this is a good trait as a person in general
I'm always excited when Brian appears in the live streams. He's honest, upfront and doesn't sugar coat the hard and not so glamorous parts of nomadic living. For myself, it's helpful to know what to expect when things go wrong and possible solutions. Honestly, Bob, I'm not surprised that Brian my one day be passed the torch. It saddens me to know I won't see you as often and welcomed to watch you're next video. I can't wait to start living my best life.
No two people are the same so who knows how the changes will work out. Obviously you have thought this out and I for one would love to see it work out beautifully as you have created a treasure in the channel Bob. All the best to both of you.
Hey Brian...welcome...great vlog....Bob thanks for all of those videos..your patience humor and knowledge...you have been an inspiration to so many..God Bless
This reminds me of when Bob Vila left This old House Most people thought The show would end there. It has continued on for 33 years and still going strong.
Great job Brian! You're making me want to go back to the forest and Camp Host ;) you know Lupe and I have worked in the Sierras for two seasons and enjoyed every minute of it. We also worked one summer in Big Bend at Rio grande village and loved that too. We had amazing, life changing experiences Everytime we camp hosted. I have also volunteered several Winters at Texas state parks/natural areas and made life-long friends there.
Thanks! I still think it's funny that we have worked at the same campground...Dorabelle. I was only there for a couple months before transferring further up the mountain. That's great about those other locations...I need to check some other places out!!
Thanks Brian, I really appreciate the insights! I think camp hosting may be a neat option for me to supplement my retirement income! Thanks also for hosting the video for Bob, I am sure he appreciates the break! The role play was fun and really gave a good idea of your positive approach and how the job is done. Thanks again to both you and Bob for the channel and all the great info! 👍🏻
This is a great idea! We'll make that happen sometime in the near future. But sure how charming my rig is, but it works really well for me. It is classic indeed...1977 GMC!

Anyway, as my traveling plans go, I want to campground host from May to Sept/Oct & do Quartzite Oct to Mar/April.
