Mad respect for choosing Atalanta. I like to think that she is green because feline are fond of olives. Also I was dreaming about Summer Atalanta. There is a butterfly named Vanessa Atalanta or Red Admiral. So I Woud like to see our cat with butterfly in cool naval uniform.
I can't properly explain this, but the fact that you can have roster that speaks different languages on the battlefield is really cool to me, just hearing like 6+ languages when you play is alluring to me, even though i know only 2.
It's immersive, it adds "life" to the characters by giving them more memorable distinctions from other characters and enhancing their personality. I.E. Vivianna speaking German is a much more memorable and "real" character than Vivianna that speaks Japanese and with more characters like that it also makes the world feel more "real" because it's full of unique and memorable characters. Real in this case meaning in our (each individual player's) perception of the Arknights universe.
One thing you forgot to mention that is also a huge plus in Arknights favour - there's no gearing system akin to HSR/Genshin/WuWa. In order to max out a character simply leveling them and maxing their skills is usually enough, with modules sometimes being needed but sometimes just being a bonus. Sure there's prefarming for materials but that takes 2 days worth of stamina at worst. There's basically 0 RNG in building a character and it feels so refreshing pulling a character and being able to use them almost to their full potential in like a minute.
i think that is pretty much the thing i hate the most about hoyo/wuva etc, even tho i do play hsr and wuwa casually, it puts me off luckly if they keep the system the same as in the tech test, endfield apparently has fixed type of stats on gear, the only rng is how much of that stat you roll, so at least you wont have to do 20 runs to hope for the elemental dmg goblet in genshin or crt rate/dmg chestpiece in hsr
I was thinking about that. Its a also what blue archive did. and the fact there's basically an oracle for banner is made it even better to look forward. Since u can now planned who do u want the most or char that u want but dont need rn but can get later
Sorry, but although I agree with the ethos of what you said, building a single character in Arknights takes MUCH MUCH longer than 2 days. Assuming you're building the newest 6* Character, you'll need over 1 million LMD and EXP, high-rarity materials to craft Bipolar Nanoflakes/D3 Steel/etc to promote them (a lot of which are RNG-based), get the required Chips, then you have to wait about 2 days to max ONE of their skills, but doing so also cost Tier-4 Material. Then if they have modules, you're gonna have to wait about a week to get the required Trust Score, and those ALSO cost Tier-4 Materials to buy and raise and the Energy you'd have to spend to beat their challenge stage. This is also not considering that a team in Arknights consists of TWELVE operators compared to the 3-man or 4-man teams in other gacha games. Unlike some of those games, Arknights isn't a game where a single character can solocarry you through the entirety of the experience. Sure you don't need to worry about affixes and RNG substats, but building a strong team in Arknights is a lot more time-consuming than you're making it out to be.
Some additional clarifying notes: Arknights does have great skill based game play but I wanted to note that it is different from something like Wuthering Waves skill based game play that requires timing and reflexes. Arknights requires strategy and tactics. It's still skilled game play just different skill sets. Though the game does allow you to create content that requires timing for yourself and a lot of players opt to do that for additional challenge. SSS, IS, RA, CC, etc... don't require sanity/stamina or any resource apart from your time to play. I wanted to call this out because some people see rewards or progression materials and assume it's a competing demand for sanity/stamina but that is not the case in Arknights. You can guarantee every new SSR operator now in Arknights. For standard banners it is the 1st 6* that you get after 150 pulls. For limited banners it is the 300th pull. For collab banners it is the 120th pull. Just to give an example of how generous Arknights is with pulling currency. My IRL friend who has not spent a single penny on this game and has been playing for almost 4 years has 307/328 operators or 93.6% of the characters in the game. It wasn't mentioned in the video but there's also another way to get older SSR operators called recruitment. It's completely free but much worse rates than headhunting. If you optimize it you will get ~5-6 SSR / year from recruitment but it's super random so could be easily triple that or like 1 in a given year. Can confirm I have had to stop what I was doing and spontaneously vibe several times because of how the music hit me on some random stage or menu.
Yea. when people said wuwa is dark souls of gacha or whatever, I always think about AK. They clearly put a lot of thought when designing a stages and have a perfect systematical dificulity being, Normal, CM/Advderse, EX ,H, S, & MO. You can really felt on the dev trying soooo hard to FUCK the player around with the ammount of bullshit mechanic and enemy combination without make it too imposible. and i think it's great, it satisfying and fulfiling. they manage to catter to both casual and sweaty player and not make it feel like its a P2W. well not always tho... like fuck...CW-S-4 , shits makes me wanna cry
My reason to stay with Arknights until now: - Easy gacha (only need 1 copies of the operator and it's basically done, no need signature weapon or anything else) - Free skin basically (you can save up to buy skin you want just by playing the game) - Each stage has its own gimmick that makes almost every one of them feel unique - All operators are unique and have their own place to play, even for the low rarity - Modules is one of the most great way to buff old operators to be more relevant or even have significant gameplay changer (although it is very rare to obtain) - Hard content is very tough but always have a way to clear with/without using meta/OP operators - 12 + 1 extra slot means you have plenty of room to combine your operators to clear the stage in your own way (except for some content like CC) - Easy to do daily stuff - Waifu character design and va - Hypergryph is secretly a music company - Story (Yes, I love suffering)
As an AK player the one thing that I always miss whenever trying out other gacha is the fact that I can't buy skins as F2P. The fact that F2P gets the actual premium currency and are free to do with it as they please is something that other gacha simply don't do. (Not that I am free2play, but it's still great since like this I can just buy the best value packs and still get skins no issue)
Exactly this, in Ak, feel like a premium customer even if I don't spend a dime, freely accessible skins and you can earn the most premium currency by just playing new stages. The divide between a dedicated player and a moderate spender isn't that big at all and it's what made me comfortable enough to even spend a bit in Ak a few times lol.
@@Piquliar That's so true, I spend in Arknights not because I feel like I have to in order to get what I want from the game but because I'm so happy with what I get from the game that I want to give back to the developers.
@@galihadam96 Not having weapons is so much less stress and FOMO. No artifact/relic shenanigans too which I really appreciate as having typically 12 operators, each with 3 different skills/playstyles to bring and up to 3 different modules is enough on the gameplay customization front for me.
Whenever Hoyo has those suggestion surveys I ALWAYS ask for individual voice acting. The thought put into the voice acting in Arknights is incredible enough for me to keep playing (I'm going to fall in love with Thorns's EN voice, I just know it) but it's certainly not the only reason. Just affirming the bias and enjoying the video
SAAAAAME. There are a few characters whose voice works I like in both EN and JP and it's a shame I can only hear one at a time. Would also just make sense since the world does draw inspiration form reality just like Arknights does. I can understand if that would be a huge undertaking, but I'll be glad if we can at least get it during gameplay outside of cutscenes and Quest dialogue.
Oh hell yeah! I still remember the one time I got you to shill for Arknights for over an hour while you were streaming in the HSR category around that game's launch, lmfao.
But also to add to the gacha currency saving up thing. There is also one more method of gathering the gacha currency that is generally not recommended UNLESS you're in a spot where you can dump away your Sanity (the in-game energy) into gathering a certain material that can be turned into gacha currency, as opposed to dumping your Sanity into the materials you need to raise your Operators. And guess who's doing just that and has been doing just that for years. :) 1-7 slave gang.
100% agree. I'm lucky that Arknights was my 1st gacha game and is still the best one I've played. And I agree the story was very good. Some Event story's are so good that even the lead story writer for baulders gate 3 praised the heck out of Lone trails story, and chapter 14's story was peak
Imo most of Arknights event stories are good but not all are equal. A few of the event stories are bad imo. But Ak imo still has a presentation problem with its wording. But i have noticed to that over the more recent stories are much better in that regard vs the older ones. There is also a problem with more options for permenant fun content since barring story events and main story, Integrated Strategies is one of the things keeping me around. Barring future stuff on CN cause i am global.
@@Kamuii777 the early game can be quite hard. Till u get the hang of it so hang in there if you do try. And also if u ever feel lost in any stage all praise the one and only lord kyostin
Now's actually the good time to start playing it, because they are updating the newbie banner all the units that will be there are really good, plus they'll also give out a 6 star selector which and a 5 star "auto maxing" material, which will basically make newbies have a smoother start
One thing I really like about Arknights is how they handle the FOMO in the game, and I'm talking about the gacha aspect: Once you pull a unit, you already get access to up to 95% of that unit's features. The dupes aka "Potential - Pot" are just minor stat boost and only relevant in extreme case (1-2 DP cost reduce; ~10% stat boost; minor increase on talents;...). Moreover, non-limited character will be added to the standard pool right after their debut banner end. Limited characters have hard pity and true-limited collaboration characters have reduced hard pity. All of this incentive you to pull more than 1 copy of a character unless personal preference, and you can sometime just straight up skip some standard character when you are low on resource, knowing on a funny weather day they will spook your pull, maybe twice, even. That's how I burnt all my Orundum and still missed Goldenglow on her debut banner, only for her to spook me on the very next misclicked pull on the standard banner. Start playing Arknights regularly since the CoB event, only spent 2-3 monthly pass just to caught up with resource farming and I already has 93.3% the character ingame. And I am the kind of "Oh, I have enough for 1 roll, let's go gambling" type of player. And legit the only example of impactful Potential dupes is the FlagPipe combo where you can almost instantly get more DP by being able to activate Flagbearer skill at the start of battle quicker than normal. (Edited) legit wrote the comment before watch the video and i just straight up repeat what he said lol
As someone who also played many gachas together for years before I completely burned out, Arknights was the only one i managed to stay with so this is just correct. Will still watch the video though as I want to see what reasons others have to stick with this game.
I just want to mention that Arknights gives you premium currency for the first time you clear a stage that you can use to buy skins. Therefore, there is a lot of permanent content, so there is quite a lot of this premium currency and you can buy several dozen skins, where in most gacha it would cost several hundred or even several thousand dollars.
As you mention, Arknights really does have great va work but that is mostly due to just how attentive the developers are to the lore and story they are crafting. Although you say you skip the story (heathen), every character gets va work respective to the region they inhabit, furthering the immersion of the world for the player. That is also why there is such a variety of music and themes in the game, as the story sometimes takes place in completely separate countries with different characters and struggles. The music for summer events are more light-hearted and poppy, while the music for events tied to a specific nation like Expeditioner's Joklumarkar have nordic and tense undertones that reflect the themes of the event's story. The music and va work alone are top-tier, but when you put effort into understanding the story it transcends into something even greater. Thanks for the video, and definitely subscribing!
This gams just has amazing mix of everything, Gacha system that isnt unfair to most part, perfect gameplay loop, amazing world building, INSANE UI design and most importantly vibrant characters that you can tell apart. Is just so unique
A simple answer would be Arknights is a gacha that actually tries to be a game, and not a character collecting simulator with the game part thrown away in some unknown corner like most of the popular gachas and most gachas in general
@Mehieddin7 Its still a gacha game, its systematically similar to most popular gachas too. Id only say that to PGR where every character is guranteed and no form of content is locked behind operator gates which Arknights has on IS5 max diff end 4 and CCs, it would be delusional to say its not a gacha game, it is and has problems relating it like Limiteds.
Arknights is my top gacha too (that I keep up with), but Limbus Company has creeped up on top place for me (Might be because I follow the series since Lob. Corp.) And funny enough, Limbus is getting an arknights collab next year. F/GO is that old childhood friend I know very well and vibe with, but don't engage as often with.
Im kind wonder if this will be one of the game that will stay since collab is coming i have redownload it. I didn't play much at launch... Actually i barely played it so im gonna hope it changed
I once doubted your claim to the throne of best gacha player but a quick search through your channel's history proved to me that you're HIM. Once I saw you Speedrun Arknights and catch up to all my efforts in the game up to that point in just 2 mere months I couldn't believe what truth I was witnessing, while I'd feel terrible for saying this to anyone else I believe that you're the right person to say this to: don't stop playing gacha games king
18:44 I actually cried back when I found out that Shu speaks my family Chinese dialect. It's actually a dialect that i actually fully understand and is familiar with!
If youre okay with lenghty wording of storytelling then youll love arknights story. I only started playing the game because ive been reading all the way up to chapter 13 from one of those silent playthroughs on youtube and the story is so peaaak
I play Arknights since about 11 month, and I started because of the story. I am at chapter 11, with about 20 side stories, most intermezzi, 8 story collections and I don´t know how many operator records. I always read a lot of books, so I am used to it. In my opinion, the Arknights story is much better than may books I have read. The character variety is impressiv, the story has really tragic parts and others that make you smile. It is amazing and far more than I expected.
10:36 If I remember correctly, it should have a guaranteed system by now It is: If you do not get the new 6 stars featured after 120 pulls, the next 6 stars will be that new 6 stars. (This only applies to the new normal 6 stars that is alone and not limited) It combines with the guaranteed before: The rate up of 6 stars operators is 2% for 50 consecutive pulls, after that, each pull has 2% more than the previous one until 100 pulls have been counted (which means 100% rate up) So we should have the guarantee for the new 6 stars after 240 pulls, this is a hard pity. Pin meeeee
people might dont like Arknights because of the tower defense aspect, but that aspect is the one reason why Arknights is the most flexible and the one game that does the most mechanic and gimmick production consistently to keep everything fresh including all the gamemode they keep trying to invent while using the core gameplay. its not like say turn base rpg where every mechanic already invented and you cant really make it fresh so at one point it will just become a stat stick challenge, so the creative vision with tower defense is really helping. other than that the game is really just flooded with variety in almost all aspect other gacha that i can remember that also try to do more stuff with their gameplay atleast the one i've played are PGR and Guardian Tales
@@karkar3647 tbf alot of turn base would eventually a tuen into battle of stat stick especially the one that play like hsr. Unless the game decide to play like sword of colvaria but with the intent of making the game balance and flexible. Eventually it gonna goes UNGA BUNGA I HIT U AND U HIT ME AND U DIE
Also starting next event Arknights is going change the newbie banner so include a bunch of really good units and also gives a 6 star selector ticket which only gives a choice of 6 operators but every single one is really strong and still see a ton of use so its a good time to start
It's certainly my favorite; I like it enough to have stuck with it for around 3 and a half years now and never considered dropping it as it ages so nicely. The gameplay is prime, the character kits just allow for an immaculate plethora of tactics to approach a stage which presents its own mechanics. I LOVE the fact that after getting a character as single time, I can basically have the full experience of what that character has to offer and max them out in just a few days as a veteran with a decent stockpile of materials lol. Also, the lack of a battlepass that I have to shell out cash for is so nice and the fact that basically all the skins are free with currency you earn. It's one of the few gachas that isn't monetized through the gills trying to extract money from you in every way possible lol. I've tried quite a few other gachas before and after finding Ak but nothing feels like it, it's truly more than the sum of its parts and keeps improving. The gameplay, music and the story (just finished reading Babel and Ascalon's OP rec, onto chapter 14 soon) just hit the sweet spot for me.
Worth mentioning about Kernal Headhunting specifically: 5 and 6 star operators that you pull from Kernal Headhunting are *excluded* from regular gacha pools which means that ops that have been moved to Kernal *cannot* spook you on regular/limited banners. This is kind of a double edged sword as, while it keeps the regular gacha feeling fresh, plenty old ops who have been moved to Kernal actually still hold up really well in modern content and in some cases are essential account building blocks (Saria, Nightingale, and Eyja for example).
That does get somewhat alleviated by the fact that you can buy Operators in the shop. Saving up Yellow Certs certainly isn't fast but that's literally how I got the 2nd best Caster in the game (who's been here since release LMAO), Eyjafjalla.
Arknights is what happens when the good guys that respect the players chase out the greedy bastards out of the company. It's a fair game that you can play for free and beat whale players since the merit that community value comes from minimalistic and/or creative clears, and you are not in direct competition with anyone except your own creative limitations.
As a CN player who witnessed the entire process of IS2 (Phantom rougelike) being launched, I am convinced that at least here, the gacha game that first integrated roguelike elements into its gameplay system is Arknights. It was only after this that I gradually began to see one game after another adding roguelike modes lol
You do actually have a guarantee for the rate up now if you haven't gotten the rate-up 6* operator in 150 rolls, the next 6* will be the rate-up. This applies for single rate-up ops for both new events and rerun events iirc.
I have to agree, arknights got top notch characters design, a good story and tons of fun gameplay mechanics. They surprise me with how creative they can still be with new events and characters skills.
Another plus for Arknights is that it also has a competitive scene. It's the only PvE gacha game that I know of that has this (besides HSR). It's a small community but if you are more of a hardcore competitive player these community events great.
Well structured and backed by logical arguments video is something worth appreciating, especially in a field of gacha games. Everything is on spot. Can only make an another emphasis on the story part of Arknights, as it is indeed is very extensive and requires a lot of time to sink into it. And yet the Story and Worldbuilding are, legitimately, one of strongest points of the Arknights, right besides the other major pros that were mentioned. Thank you for the video.
I first played Arknights this summer, and now? I’m obsessed with Arknights music(All the pv music are so good), watching every music reaction video that I can find……that’s a lot of fun
It’s the only Gacha game where i would say, reading comprehension and actual thinking is needed even if you have all the SSR. Powercreep is very clear in this game, but you won’t feel the effects of it if you actually strategize to complete a stage, those powerful units are for bruteforcing. And it’s actually more fun playing this game with lower rarity operators, doing so in other games only makes you suffer a bit more without the fun.
@@chaosinfernoid9008 It is quite fun actually, if you're into that kind of playsytle. That's why a lot of people play "nicheknights" or just play with their favorite operators, even if they're not meta
The best thing i love about arknights is the fact that I don't need to waste sanity to farm stupid relics just to get some good stats. I would rather farm rocks that can be used to upgrade some ops or to be converted into more gacha pulls
I cannot stress enough the music part... They created a music studio, Monster Siren (which we say it's the money laundering company of Hypergryph) and they do annually live concerts of the songs they release.
It's also pretty dope that you can straight up buy past ops from the shop sometimes and in the case of those special kernel banners that you can choose the operators that appear on them from that old pool, you can straight up choose which one appears in the shop to buy with gold certificates you earn from rolling on the gacha in general or doing the totally free recruitments. I just picked up Gnosis a few days ago when I realized that he was in the shop as he was one of the few ops that I was missing and wanted quite a bit lol.
The stories and lore in Arknights and Punishing: Gray Raven are incredibly well done, especially in the past year. I used to think Lostbelts were peak storytelling, but Arknights & PGR blow them out of the water, in my opinion. Reading through Babel and Episode 14 destroyed me, highly recommend getting into it at some point. And hey, maybe pick up PGR. Now would be a great time to start since they're fast-tracking the Global server to catch up to CN by the end of 2025! (:
Absolutely agree on the PGR front. Been playing Arknights since 1st anni and PGR since release and they really do only get better (with little exception)
Small correction: there is a guarantee pity sostem on normal banners; it's just hidden: if you hit 150 pull without gettinng the rate-up unit the next 6* is guaranteed to be the rate-up. So worst case scenario the hard pity is around 220. The limjted banner have no hard pity but since the last limited banner onwards the introduced a free copy of the limited character once you hit 300 pulls regardless of drops.
The only downside, at least for me is a lack of PC version. Emulator is good enough, but not as convenient as dedicated launcher. But apart from this little neatpick the game is amazing, thanks to arknights music for getting me into the game itself.
About the gacha currency , you can also farm pulls with stamina you get around 200-300 orundum (1/3-1/2 of a pull)/day depending on your luck on 1-7 double drops,if you have a lot of ressources and don't need xp/mats/lmd so even if u don't need any mats you still have something to spend your stamina on and feel like it is not a waste
* sees the thumbnail * yeah, I love the game but I don't think it's *THE* best. One of, yeah, but THE? mhmmm.. * video plays and it's body pillows as the background * alright, I'll take your word for it
A few corrections. There are 14 chapters, 2 seasons of the anime, and there is a newer system on the non limited banners that does hard guarantee the rate up after 150 pulls
The reason why i like arknights so much is how expiremental it is and how they arent afraid to innovate espcially modes like RA . It doesnt also abide to cookie cutter genres that are popular like ARPGs and Turnbased that make the majority of gacha games. It is also special in a way that the tower defense isnt played like your usual tower defense. Hell i don't even want it to call tower defense. It should be its own thing
ARKNIGHTS! i started in 2020 too. keep dropping it bc i suck at TD and also keep coming back bc of everything else about this game being so amazing ~~ also, not me watching this video while not being able to play bc maintenance xD also not me still in chapter 7 of 13 in the main story xDD
Intergrated Strategies and Reclamation Algorithm alone are a tone of content. Legit, if I had to choose 1 out of the 8 gacha I play to stay with, it'd be Arknights, hands down.
It is the most anticipated game I've ever played and THE BEST if not just game, then "gacha game" It has literally qualified every single aspect of how you could imagine a good game can be. The only reason why I'm just not inviting anyone near me to try is that I'm living in a country that does not have English as the first language. It just so happens that the game can't even set foot in my country also (because of regional legal terms, the game can't be here if they don't have a publisher in the country) Please try out Arknights, it is definitely not like any game that you've ever tried
feel like some info is outdated (looking at the footage it looks 6 to 7 months old, no offense) and I'll just try addressing some of the points made and clarify some stuff. Context to me: Been playing for 4 and a half years now. I apologize for not having any order in here for the time being since I'm just writing things down. First things first: The main story was praised by one of the authors of Baldur's Gate 3. Besides that there's many events to read for different nations, scenarios (very few touch on alternative universes), different era's or just some goofy ones where it's about a girl eating random mushrooms. It's considerably heavy with the theme it is touching upon, war, genocide, mass-control, experiments on their own race, an entire race connected by a single computer, just to name a few. I am by no means a lore nerd of this game since there's too much for to read and I'm personally not a fan of the format. Events have 3 stages, the initial run, a rerun and something called "retrospective". The first to things are quite obvious, the initial run is with all of the rewards/stages you can get. The rerun has the exact same stage content, however the stores are tailored for a smaller runtime due to the shorter time they're open. Usually reruns last up to 10 days for 2 week events. I think? 3 week events have 2 weeks of rerun time. Now retrospective is basically a mechanic to let you the player get the important rewards from past events, such as operators, their potentials (they're are not important as stated in the video since they give minor buffs comparable to minor stat improvements), an icon and some furniture usually the one you were supposed to buy from the store. That effectively means you're only missing the materials from either the farming stages or from both shops if you're not playing an event to release/rerun. The explanation to the event stages is basically correct, most of the time up to 10 stages where 8 is the minimum. EX or challenge mode stages which are always 8 with a very few exceptions in the early years. The 3 week events or limited events have S stages which are very difficult stages which are available in the last week. Rarely the events have some extra content like special stages but there's too many different types of these to just list them. Now there's a small event type he didn't touch on which is what we call in the community vignette events. They're 10 days long and have around 6 to 10 stages which all of them have challenge modes. They're not intended to be farmed and are there in order to release other operators/story on their own. These vignette events do not get a rerun, or a retrospective the premium currency is effectively lost if you've not beaten the stages in the 1st run of the event. Let's talk about the banners now: We have the single rate up banners, limited banners with 2 rate ups, new unit guaranteed banner, "joint operation"/"the front that was" banner" and lastly the collborations. single rate up units usually get a rerun unless they're from events such as vignette events or collaborations. Something very important to note: 6 to 7 months ago they introduced a guaranteed mechanic for these types of banners as well: After 150 pulls the next 6* is guaranteed to be the rate up operator, in theory that means you'd have to spend 249 at most, realistically like 220 if your luck is really bad. I can not stress enough these things happen but they are quite rate. The average rate to get one 6* per pulls is around 33 pulls. Nowadays that doesn't happen as much, so most units will get a rerun with their own banner (regarding them not having their own banner). They all, besides the limited ones, enter the "standard banner pool". This effectively means that they'll be available on other banners as "offrate". Limited banners with 2 rate ups have multiple different "limited pools" e.g. that means you can get Operator A,B,C in Pool A which comes every August. Whenever that type of limited banner reruns. There's like 3 different ones: one for yearly and half anniversaries, one for Chinese new year and one summer themed. old rate up units have set scheme to appear in newer limited banners. First they'll be obtainable with 300 spark currency which you'll get by pulling on that banner. It's gone after the banner disappears which is why some save up for these kinds of banners to get units they want. These 300 spark units have a 5x chance to appear as offrate. That means if you miss the 70% of the 2% chance of 6* you'll get a offrate unit. Now these "offrate rateups" have 5 times the chance to appear as the pulled operator. Now we have 2 more types: One is where they lose the 5x offrate rate up effect and is available in the shop for 300 but is only "once" in the pool. This year they introduced a mechanic where old limited units can be bought for 200 points. They'll be released one after the other in accordance to the banners they appeared on. New unit guaranteed banner is basically a pool of units which have been available for quite some time. You can check in the interface which are available and it tells you which are in the banner. That means you can more easily close gaps if you want to be a completionist.
Now to talk quickly over the extra modes: They don't need any extra sanity/energy from this game. SSS, IS and RA are all available for you to play without spending any sanity. Sure some (e.g. SSS, RA) are not beginner friendly but they give out decent rewards for fresh players by just playing said modes (IS). RA is a base builder where you spend acts to get resources to defend against raids. There's a story in RA you follow but you can pretty much do whatever later when you're far enough in the story. SSS is a mode where you play 6 stages in a row with buffs for archetypes you can stack them by placing units on top of the other unit. It's relatively minor, you either farm it for late game materials and caters to almost all players with a mid game roster. IS is the Rogue-lite (yes that's intended Rogue-lite not Rogue-like [please look up if you don't know the difference]) mode where you start with some units get relics and after 5 to 6 floors will get to 1 boss stage which then marks the end of the run. There's a whole reward ladder like he said. It's quite beginner friendly since you can "force" to get certain units relatively easy and get free rewards. The stage RNG is seeded: Which means that as long as you don't change anything on the operators such as level/skilllevel/trust, it will always work. There's one exception to this: Lag, this can fuck you up, if your device is too weak for all the effects which are going on. This can happen but honestly shouldn't matter in almost all cases from my experience. Usually lag is less of a factor whether a clear works properly or not. Understanding event mechanics and leaning into them is important, you can brute force some stuff but gets messy fast. You can clear most of the game with just 4* units which are cheap to build compared to 6*. 3* work for most stages even later on as well but then the strategy required to beat said stages skyrockets. To be honest I don't know whether the destiny 2 collab fell through. We have not gotten any news for quite some time now and the collaboration management back at bungie changed once and this halted progress by quite a bit. Event packs are as he described much better compared to the OP only ones. One very strong item for small spenders is the monthly card. That thing gives you 200 orundum across 30 days which totals to 10 pulls (6 extra OP not in the equation for pulls). Potentials or Constellations which some other gachas use as a term are not important. Actually in Arknights there's only 3~, give or take 2, operators which even have something meaningful locked behind potentials. This effectively means you want different characters if you don't care about the pots for said operator. The Misc. category is a tricky one: We have even more music then what he mentioned: More genres, specific themes for operators/characters in the story. Event themes are diverse as well. There's a meme in the community that the developer Hypergryph is not a game developer but a music company because there's so many different types of genres which are so well made. (They frequently hire outsiders to help with music which is why we have such a diversity. They're also on Spotify in cause you listen to music there or they have their own website. The studio is called Monster Siren Records just look for that online or on Spotify and you should find it) To recommend a few of my favorites (They are all different genres): Boiling Blood, Burn me to the Ground, Radiant, Ash to Ash, Stainless Heart, Towards her Light, Alive, Arsonist, Illuminate, Broken Sun, Immutable, Undertopia, Voices and so on. The voice acting can be a bit expanded: Korean is fully voiced now, English is at a rate of 80% (this is steadily increasing over the last two years) lastly JP and CN are obviously fully voiced. We don't have any new regional voices such as the German, Italian, Russian ones. We have few of them which is kind of sad but they only recently started doing them which is understandable why it's only select few. The voice actors back then and nowadays are top notch, we have powerhouses from the JP cv industry and all of the en seiyuus are doing are great job to give the character their own respective flair. The main gameplay feature is strategy, yes. If you're not willing to learn tower defense this might not be your game. The learning curve is not small for new players to the genre. But it gets much easier later on due to you gaining experience and learning how this genre works/how you're supposed to play this kind of game. It is very much comparable to a new skill learning at the beginning is rough but is rewarding when you pull off something impressive. To mention some other things from the game: We have no gear system/artifacts/weapons/runes like hoyogames, summoners war, azur lane. There's operator level skill level, promotion and some other minor stuff and that's it. You don't have to reroll or farm for better stats. It's straight up: You pay this much money/materials to get this much more damage/health/defense. Some other minor points which I forgot to mention along the way: 2nd season of the anime is already out and the 3rd one is in production. You don't need any unit to clear any content of the game. Sure some make it easier (by being very strong or ignoring certain mechanics) to beat certain stages but they are not required, at all. We have a vast variety of niches which use only certain types of characters which break records in either communities frequently. Fear of missing out is a thing due to not getting a desired unit, however this is mitigable by saving for some time and knowing that they'll come back in some form later. You don't have to wait an unknown amount years to get some random unit. We do have have "hard limited" units which might not get a rerun ever again. Some are good, some are bad it's a mixed bag but you can clear the content without them just fine. Feel free to add other points in the replies since I cant think of much more. If by chance you have any question about the game feel free to ask here and I'll do my best to respond to them.
I remember see a WuWa post about how this character have an accent and me here is thinking to myself "Wow, that's interesting. But did they know that Arknights have already done that like a long time ago?"
20:18 agree, I ve play arknights from first day release, and until now I still have a lot to do. operator to level up, stage to play, completing IS reward, and with the new addition of reclamation algorithm. I've so far only play arknights, I almost play it every day, every event. and not playing other gacha games, yet they never run out of content.
100% agree with this...AK just ticks all boxes for me, rather than any other gacha: ✅ - Completely free to play, has steady stream of pull income and gives out a lot from doing events and other content and does not rely or give units a powerspike with their dupes or weapons(you just need to pull the unit themselves). ✅ - Has god-tier art and character designs. AK always manage to capture the feel of the unit and their lore with how they look and doesn't rely on blatant sexualization. ✅ - Actually has a skill-based gameplay. You can have the most OP units here and still fail stages if you have a walnut for a brain. One of the games that actually makes you strategize rather than just auto-ing everything. ✅ - Has good story BUT, I gotta admit the way they tell the story is kinda bad because of how they drag on conversations and sorts, there's a lot of yapping. If you want to actually experience the main points of the story but also skipping the yapping parts, I recommend watching the Arknights Anime. ✅ - Powercreep isn't so impactful. In this game powercreep MOST OF THE TIME is DamageCreep or UtilityCreep. Once in while new units that deal more damage or provide better utility comes out, but it doesn't make the old units look bad, because the game also knows how to balance it with new stages and mechanics. For me AK meta isn't so "stagnant" that the old units just disappear from the dust. Same cannot be said with other games imo. ✅ - And finally my favorite thing about this game. NO RNG in building units whatsoever. You level them up, level their skill, unlock their module if they have one(you can even sometimes not do this and the unit is just as good) and you're good to go. Saves your time farming ENDLESSLY for good stats for the unit you pulled.
What i love about arknights is they got schedule for limited operator every 3 months You can farm the gacha currency on stages and also annihilation to farm it I support these game by purchasing monthly and i can keep up with all those limited operator Hope FGO also add monthly subscription for Quartz( or if they kind enough paid quartz)
Real I played FGO (JP version) for 3 years-ish from 2019, always confused why would people in a server I'm in compare FGO to Arknights almost all the time, some even mocked FGO for not capable of being better. Then in 2022, I decided to Arknights, intending to make it my side game, and while it took me a bit to get hooked, I finally understand why they say all of those lmao Arknights ended up being my main game and FGO started gathering dust (it was also during the early times where events begun to last for a month without adequate contents and event reruns were cut). Eventually, I left the game this year
I have played 3 gacha games extensively: Fate/Grand Order, Genshin Impact and Arknights. Among them Arknights has by far the most forgiving gacha system but I often find the amount of characters I can pull frustrating because the material requirements for raising characters are extremely steep compared to FGO and Genshin. Gameplay and Gacha mechanics aside each of the gacha games I play I do for a different reason. Fate/Grand Order because it's my most favorite franchise and has my most favorite characters in existence, Genshin because I really enjoy the open world exploration, I daresay it's better than most AAA open worlds and it keeps getting bigger and more diverse and Arknights because I really like tower defense.
13:28 I kinda don't like it when people mention how Bagpipe is broken and especially with more dupes. It's mental scar thingy. It had caused my best friend to quit AK for good when he missed pulling Bagpipe in her debut banner in the 1st year of AK. Meanwhile, I who had successfully pulled 1 bagpipe at that time, turns out to barely use Bagpipe and found out it's perfectly great to play even without the bagpipe + myrtle combo. This mention of Bagpipe, All it does is remind me, my friend quit AK early because some content creator hyped bagpipe for what she is not (They are saying she is a must pull, must use). And clearly AK is NOT such a game where it revolves around select few units.
I mean that goes with every "must" pull character. I bet he'll quit if he missed walter, chalter or any broken ops. It's definitely just fomo. Arknights is a special game where you can clear with anything so its just not neccesary to pull every meta. The wrong mentalilty is what made him quit really. Bagpipe is still a gamechanger if you dont have ines. She made many CCs and events much easier.
@@ammarshamsul1217 Yeah fomo definitely strikes in. But as matter of fact, none of these operators are FOMO or necessary. Necessary, must have... those are what content creator madeup. When in fact it's not in AK (And this what makes AK differ from other gacha game)
Adding to the gacha system, I'm not sure when they added it but they have point system now for Standard Banner as well. 150 pulls to guarantee your op. Not sure if they're only doing that for new ops tho.
Imo best gacha for overall is arknights. I like it almost as much as Limbus Company but i like that one more for story, lore, and story gameplay integration. Rather than pure gameplay.
Arknights, one of, if not the only gacha games where if you are F2P, using the premium currency to buy pulls for banners is most of the time considered a waste, and buying the skins you want is better (Cause the game is that generous)
i still remember the first time i tried Arknights, the special banner was Joint operation #6, i bought some OP just to start out and sunk my first rolls in that banner.First 10 shot, ended up getting 1 copy of each of the 6 stars featured on that banner, Skadi, Kal'tsit,Exu and Mountain. That was the moment i knew Arknights had a stranglehold on my gacha soul, FGO pretty much gathered dust ever since
even if you don't like tower defense, arknights is different enough it might suck you in. It sure did suck me in cuz I very heavily disliked towerdefense previously. I play for more than 2 years now and to this day, hoyoverse can go fuck themselves with enormous hp bloats, lack of skip buttons, predatory eidolons, rng relics and weapon system that is there only to add another gacha mechanic. Not even talking about powercreep since it's only in star rail for now, but genshin has been acting kind of sus with natlan as of late tho it's early to jump to conclusions. I love when endgame can be cleared with literally who I want as long as I put the time to think. I love that there is no currency gated behind actually hard content (CC), meaning f2p miss nothing if they dont want to sweat. I love that my characters are maxed when I m9 max level them (only logos, reed and virtuosa since they are the pogchamps). I love that ost is different and charactera are not showing 80% of their skin. God do I love arknights
AK is a very F2P-friendly gacha I have ever played since we can farm the currency needed to roll for characters and earn the currency used to buy skins for free by just clearing a stage for the first time. Although, I think the gacha rate is bad, though not as bad as in FGO. I always keep my Orundum over 400k because of my terrible luck, so I can guarantee 300 rolls during limited banners.
Not sure if this is mentioned, but powercreep doesn't seem to matter too much on this game. I only started playing this year and both the older and newer ops are pretty helpful to use. I can actually play who I want. There are characters who got powercrept (ofc) but overall, it seemed like it doesn't matter. Cause characters who got powercrept are still performing really, really well and they're old units!

There's basically 0 RNG in building a character and it feels so refreshing pulling a character and being able to use them almost to their full potential in like a minute.
i think that is pretty much the thing i hate the most about hoyo/wuva etc, even tho i do play hsr and wuwa casually, it puts me off
luckly if they keep the system the same as in the tech test, endfield apparently has fixed type of stats on gear, the only rng is how much of that stat you roll, so at least you wont have to do 20 runs to hope for the elemental dmg goblet in genshin or crt rate/dmg chestpiece in hsr
The hoyoverse gearing system gives me PTSD.
@@bloodyfisht6877Also the reason why im quite hesitent to open wuwa and zzz. Well wuwa has the added device issue since playing on mobile
Objectively correct
Now to actually watch the video
I fully agree with the title. Now time to watch my biases get confirmed subjectively as well to make myself feel good😊
Some additional clarifying notes:
Arknights does have great skill based game play but I wanted to note that it is different from something like Wuthering Waves skill based game play that requires timing and reflexes.
The pause button is the skill button

Yea. when people said wuwa is dark souls of gacha or whatever, I always think about AK.
The fact that limbus company has their first Collaboration with them speaks volumes
and KJH was so proud of it he spammed the shit out of the collab pv on stream
Yeah but one side collab
@@KABLAMMATS still, speaks volumes
Why?
@@terror_nightmare9308 Because they side with incels ig? Idk lol, seems like everyone forgot about that incident
My reason to stay with Arknights until now:
- Easy gacha (only need 1 copies of the operator and it's basically done, no need signature weapon or anything else)
- Free skin basically (you can save up to buy skin you want just by playing the game)
- Each stage has its own gimmick that makes almost every one of them feel unique
- All operators are unique and have their own place to play, even for the low rarity
- Modules is one of the most great way to buff old operators to be more relevant or even have significant gameplay changer (although it is very rare to obtain)
- Hard content is very tough but always have a way to clear with/without using meta/OP operators
- 12 + 1 extra slot means you have plenty of room to combine your operators to clear the stage in your own way (except for some content like CC)
- Easy to do daily stuff
- Waifu character design and va
- Hypergryph is secretly a music company
- Story (Yes, I love suffering)
@@Piquliar
That's so true, I spend in Arknights not because I feel like I have to in order to get what I want from the game but because I'm so happy with what I get from the game that I want to give back to the developers.
@@ian59 Totally relatable, seriously.
And no need to gacha weapon, no need to duplicate operator to getting full potential, no gacha stats.

100% agree. I'm lucky that Arknights was my 1st gacha game and is still the best one I've played. And I agree the story was very good. Some Event story's are so good that even the lead story writer for baulders gate 3 praised the heck out of Lone trails story, and chapter 14's story was peak
I would say the story has highs and lows but the highs are really great and yes babel + ch 14 combo pack cooked.

One thing I really like about Arknights is how they handle the FOMO in the game, and I'm talking about the gacha aspect:
Once you pull a unit, you already get access to up to 95% of that unit's features.
(Edited) legit wrote the comment before watch the video and i just straight up repeat what he said lol
hope more people who only play the big 4 gachas will try out the smaller ones thanks to this man lel
One thing he forgot to mention about the music. Most operators have their OWN music soundtrack. So the music diversity is even larger

A simple answer would be
Arknights is a gacha that actually tries to be a game, and not a character collecting simulator with the game part thrown away in some unknown corner like most of the popular gachas and most gachas in general
Tbh Limbus has a phenomenal story that always balances length and keeps me interested. Though imo it has gameplay issues.
I've heard that they are having a collab event.
@ its one sided on limbus side
Im kind wonder if this will be one of the game that will stay since collab is coming i have redownload it. I didn't play much at launch... Actually i barely played it so im gonna hope it changed
Limbus is much better IMO just for the monetization alone.

10:36
If I remember correctly, it should have a guaranteed system by now
It is: If you do not get the new 6 stars featured after 120 pulls, the next 6 stars will be that new 6 stars. (This only applies to the new normal 6 stars that is alone and not limited)
It combines with the guaranteed before: The rate up of 6 stars operators is 2% for 50 consecutive pulls, after that, each pull has 2% more than the previous one until 100 pulls have been counted (which means 100% rate up)
So we should have the guarantee for the new 6 stars after 240 pulls, this is a hard pity.

people might dont like Arknights because of the tower defense aspect, but that aspect is the one reason why Arknights is the most flexible and the one game that does the most mechanic and gimmick production consistently to keep everything fresh including all the gamemode they keep trying to invent while using the core gameplay. its not like say turn base rpg where every mechanic already invented and you cant really make it fresh so at one point it will just become a stat stick challenge, so the creative vision with tower defense is really helping. other than that the game is really just flooded with variety in almost all aspect

"I give my body to you" xD
🤝
The gameplay, music and the story (just finished reading Babel and Ascalon's OP rec, onto chapter 14 soon) just hit the sweet spot for me.
cant wait for your ep14 reaction 🙏🙏
Worth mentioning about Kernal Headhunting specifically:
5 and 6 star operators that you pull from Kernal Headhunting are *excluded* from regular gacha pools which means that ops that have been moved to Kernal *cannot* spook you on regular/limited banners. This is kind of a double edged sword as, while it keeps the regular gacha feeling fresh, plenty old ops who have been moved to Kernal actually still hold up really well in modern content and in some cases are essential account building blocks (Saria, Nightingale, and Eyja for example).
At least with those units you can get most if not all on the recruitment.
not to mention the limited ops that are "outdated" are reduced now, meaning you dont need 300 pulls on a limited banner to get them in the shop.
@@Metroplex7 the fact that some oudated char is still a power house is crazy. There's alot who fell but nobody can defeat the utility holder
Bro summoned the entire community sleeper agents 😭 🙏
The Hivemind is *here*
Was it Arknights that started the trend among gachas to implement rogue like modes?
i think its HI3rd doing it first with elysian realm
i kinda forgot which came first
@@SouthXV Integrated Strategy was 2020, Eylisan Relam was 2021. Arknights is the one that started the trend.
@@jkorok6357 thx for the correction
I completely agree... now let me finish this video first
Well structured and backed by logical arguments video is something worth appreciating, especially in a field of gacha games.
Alright! You have convinced me to pick the game back up. Now to watch the video.
I first played Arknights this summer, and now? I’m obsessed with Arknights music(All the pv music are so good), watching every music reaction video that I can find……that’s a lot of fun
The bagpipe scottish dub is an all time hood classic fr, its such a banger
19:30 hearing Caper talking spanish gives me years of life
It’s the only Gacha game where i would say, reading comprehension and actual thinking is needed even if you have all the SSR. Powercreep is very clear in this game, but you won’t feel the effects of it if you actually strategize to complete a stage, those powerful units are for bruteforcing. And it’s actually more fun playing this game with lower rarity operators, doing so in other games only makes you suffer a bit more without the fun.
Ah yes beeing at a disadvatage sounds so fun.
In short
Arknights is basically "what if a gacha game actually tries to be a game for once"
Pgr became hi3 with extra steps, not worth it.
@@Mehieddin7
yeah, if the extra steps are engaging combat and challenging boss fights
which I'll admit isn't for everyone 😂
@@SynchroneityDFO except there's no engaging combat nor difficult bosses
Small correction: there is a guarantee pity sostem on normal banners; it's just hidden: if you hit 150 pull without gettinng the rate-up unit the next 6* is guaranteed to be the rate-up. So worst case scenario the hard pity is around 220.
The limjted banner have no hard pity but since the last limited banner onwards the introduced a free copy of the limited character once you hit 300 pulls regardless of drops.
Even the Gacha God Speaks Arknights
The only downside, at least for me is a lack of PC version. Emulator is good enough, but not as convenient as dedicated launcher. But apart from this little neatpick the game is amazing, thanks to arknights music for getting me into the game itself.
This is a very concise video! Great job on the programming of this!
Changing the languages of any of the operators goes SUPER HARD having my favorite Ark knight talk in a Scottish accent sounds amazing.
Arknights' localization goes hard
#1 reason for me is the skins are avaialble for the f2p players like no one gets left out
About the gacha currency , you can also farm pulls with stamina you get around 200-300 orundum (1/3-1/2 of a pull)/day depending on your luck on 1-7 double drops,if you have a lot of ressources and don't need xp/mats/lmd so even if u don't need any mats you still have something to spend your stamina on and feel like it is not a waste
* sees the thumbnail *
yeah, I love the game but I don't think it's *THE* best. One of, yeah, but THE? mhmmm..
* video plays and it's body pillows as the background *
alright, I'll take your word for it
Tell me a gacha aside from limbus that even comes close to being as good as arknights lmao
A few corrections. There are 14 chapters, 2 seasons of the anime, and there is a newer system on the non limited banners that does hard guarantee the rate up after 150 pulls
Chapters start with 0 so there's 15 of them if we're trying to be as pedantic as possible.
ARKNIGHTS! i started in 2020 too. keep dropping it bc i suck at TD and also keep coming back bc of everything else about this game being so amazing ~~
also, not me watching this video while not being able to play bc maintenance xD
also not me still in chapter 7 of 13 in the main story xDD
Intergrated Strategies and Reclamation Algorithm alone are a tone of content. Legit, if I had to choose 1 out of the 8 gacha I play to stay with, it'd be Arknights, hands down.
It is the most anticipated game I've ever played and THE BEST if not just game, then "gacha game"
It has literally qualified every single aspect of how you could imagine a good game can be. The only reason why I'm just not inviting anyone near me to try is that I'm living in a country that does not have English as the first language. It just so happens that the game can't even set foot in my country also (because of regional legal terms, the game can't be here if they don't have a publisher in the country)
Please try out Arknights, it is definitely not like any game that you've ever tried
Arknights isn't perfect, but it has the most unique design compared to other gacha. I think it has the best side games.
feel like some info is outdated (looking at the footage it looks 6 to 7 months old, no offense) and I'll just try addressing some of the points made and clarify some stuff.
The studio is called Monster Siren Records just look for that online or on Spotify and you should find it)
To recommend a few of my favorites (They are all different genres): Boiling Blood, Burn me to the Ground, Radiant, Ash to Ash, Stainless Heart, Towards her Light, Alive, Arsonist, Illuminate, Broken Sun, Immutable, Undertopia, Voices and so on.
Some other minor points which I forgot to mention along the way:
2nd season of the anime is already out and the 3rd one is in production.
Summer 2020 gang, let's go!

Yeah I was not expecting ebi
100% agree with this...AK just ticks all boxes for me, rather than any other gacha:
✅ - Completely free to play, has steady stream of pull income and gives out a lot from doing events and other content and does not rely or give units a powerspike with their dupes or weapons(you just need to pull the unit themselves).
What i love about arknights is they got schedule for limited operator every 3 months
You can farm the gacha currency on stages and also annihilation to farm it
I support these game by purchasing monthly and i can keep up with all those limited operator
Hope FGO also add monthly subscription for Quartz( or if they kind enough paid quartz)
Oh yeah the yellow certificate is also very nice
Awesome video, i've been playing for 2 years, i agree with every thing said in this video!
I played fgo and arknight, and i always dreaming lasengle put as much effort to fgo as hypergrift to arknight
Real
I played FGO (JP version) for 3 years-ish from 2019, always confused why would people in a server I'm in compare FGO to Arknights almost all the time, some even mocked FGO for not capable of being better. Then in 2022, I decided to Arknights, intending to make it my side game, and while it took me a bit to get hooked, I finally understand why they say all of those lmao
Arknights ended up being my main game and FGO started gathering dust (it was also during the early times where events begun to last for a month without adequate contents and event reruns were cut).

I kinda don't like it when people mention how Bagpipe is broken and especially with more dupes.
This mention of Bagpipe,
All it does is remind me, my friend quit AK early because some content creator hyped bagpipe for what she is not (They are saying she is a must pull, must use). And clearly AK is NOT such a game where it revolves around select few units.
When CC making FOMO more than the game
Funny thing is Bagpipe isn't even meta anymore. Ines is definitely the strongest Vanguard right now.
@@aizeroth8858 i use both for flexing purposes XD
4:19 We're on season 3 of the Arknights anime now!
You're such a wise man bro. This game is like a diamond in the ocean
Arknights, one of, if not the only gacha games where if you are F2P, using the premium currency to buy pulls for banners is most of the time considered a waste, and buying the skins you want is better
(Cause the game is that generous)
i still remember the first time i tried Arknights, the special banner was Joint operation #6, i bought some OP just to start out and sunk my first rolls in that banner.First 10 shot, ended up getting 1 copy of each of the 6 stars featured on that banner, Skadi, Kal'tsit,Exu and Mountain. That was the moment i knew Arknights had a stranglehold on my gacha soul, FGO pretty much gathered dust ever since
The only thing I regret about arknights is that I didn't start playing it back when it launched.
I look, see title, I agree. Now time to watch the video
ok pepe theme song as "watever it is" get me so hard.
really enjoy your video 🍻
Oh fk yeeeee arknight 4ever. Still going strong. Never get bored of it. And on the other hand I get tierd of all other gacha games
even if you don't like tower defense, arknights is different enough it might suck you in.
Besides those things, Arknights has the best community and fan artists ON GOD THEYRE SO GOOD
AK is a very F2P-friendly gacha I have ever played since we can farm the currency needed to roll for characters and earn the currency used to buy skins for free by just clearing a stage for the first time. Although, I think the gacha rate is bad, though not as bad as in FGO. I always keep my Orundum over 400k because of my terrible luck, so I can guarantee 300 rolls during limited banners.
FULL SPEED AHEAAAD🎉
Not sure if this is mentioned, but powercreep doesn't seem to matter too much on this game. I only started playing this year and both the older and newer ops are pretty helpful to use. I can actually play who I want. There are characters who got powercrept (ofc) but overall, it seemed like it doesn't matter. Cause characters who got powercrept are still performing really, really well and they're old units!
