Gsr 70 it’s not the birthplace of western civilization. The native Americans were as advanced but we died off to diseases from Europe. Not to mention the “United States” plagiarized the constitution of Native American nation the Iroquois. Respect to Greece but Mayans had multiple megalópolis

    • @victoruribe8790

Dick Thunder native Americans include Aztecs, Mayans (who had a megalopolis), and Incas. So I can say that they were as advanced if not far better than Europe. I mentioned Iroquois because without them we wouldn’t have the USA constitution

In Plato's Republic, Socrates regards music composed in the Dorian and Phrygian modes to be "simplistic" yet "beautiful." I don't know what modes these pieces use, but these works are beautiful. Thanks for your dedication to the revival of this ancient beauty.

The music is wonderful, and it's going quite beautifully with my Mavrodaphni of Patras by Kourtaki.
The Greek civilisation is something even my people (Russians) owe a lot to.
It is why my name is Dmitri and I am Orthodox Christian. It's all thanks to Greeks, and I'd like to think that a lot can be learned from the very cradle of our collective European civilisation.

Glad you enjoy my 'new ancestral music'! In our dismal modern increasingly manufactured 'musical' world, music has lost its soul.
It is my musical mission to bring music forward again - by taking it back to its ancient roots, to hear once more the unique and fogotten qualities of each of the original ancient Greek modes, now long forgotten by our bland, standardized choice of either a major or minor key...
Long live the reborn spirt of the music of our ancient past!

Turks your people as you saying came from Most Far Part of Asia(English article). Turks are not aryan, and that part of your country belongs to Armenians, Greeks and A lot of ancient ethnic groups which don't exist now. We've never heard of you before. What's up with that you think despite being Armenian i must say to maybe some Europian people.

And It makes sence. You got that. It's our land MITE. You didn't conquered it you stole it. One of the true conquerers in the world History was Alexander Great of Macedonia, who conquered a kingdom but never destroyed their culture, in opposite he respected that culture. You want me to tell you something else huh? You stole our Dolma which Is
a native Armenian food what's up with that. That means Conquering??? Conquering means you go someplace, you took it, refreshing and rebuild that place, and also you respecting that people who are living in there, but you fight the soldiers and king but you don't kill the normal people by cutting their head or something else. Ancient music has a particular intoxicating effect on my mind different from most modern music. Also it is medicinal in a practical way. I have tinnitus and there are a bunch of anti-tinnitus videos. My favorite has tiny bells tuned in "hypophrygian" mode, rushing waterfalls, chirping crickets, and distant thunder. Supposedly Pythagoras taught how to use music as medical therapy. It is meant to "speak" a "mantra" to the "throat chakra", diminishing the tinnitus. It does work for me.

Glad you like the 'musical adventure in time travel'! In answer to your question, yes, I am the musician playing the lyre in this video and yes, about 90% of the tunes featured in this presentation were my own original compositions for lyre, in a selection of some of the original ancient Greek musical modes.
The remaining 10% or so, include my arrangements for solo lyre of some of the actual ancient Greek notated melodies which have survived in alphabetical ancient Greek musical notation, preserved either engraved in stone etc - the challenge to the listener, is to try and work out which is an original composition and which is an original ancient Greek melody!
The coolest thing to have happened since posting this video, is that the Grammy award winning composer, Rufus Wainwright also heard my music and adapted an excerpt of my "Hymn to Zeus" (the first track heard in this presentation) in 2 scenes of his mega monumentally proportioned, ancient Roman-themed 2nd opera, "Hadrian" - and this was a tune I conjured up and recorded in my spare room!!!

Glad you like the 'musical time travel'! Although I have arranged a few actual fragments of surviving fragments of notated ancient music for my various lyres, 90% of my repertoire, is, in fact, my own original compositions for recreated lyres; but created using both documented ancient musical modes and since 2012, the purer ancient tuning system of just intonation.
I base my lyre playing technique on both what I can infer from illustrations of actual ancient lyre players and also on the lyre playing techniques still practiced as living traditions throughout the continent of Africa today - where no doubt the lyre was most likely introduced via trade routes between the ancient Near East and ancient Egypt.
The challenge I put to the listener of this RUclips presentation, is to try and identify which pieces are my arrangements of actual, surviving notated ancient Greek music; and which tracks are my own ''historically inspired" creation!
