- Created in response to several requests, here it is - an entire 2 hours of my ancient Greek-themed lyre music, for relaxation, meditation & contemplation:

The first piece just finished, and all I can say is..Wow. I am honestly incredibly thankful. The call of the ancients is strong in your work. The old Gods are here. So glad you enjoyed this, the ultimate in experimental albums for recreated ancient lyres...in the spirit of Spock's 'Vulcan Harp' playing - 'going boldy where no other lyre player has gone before'!
I had some unimaginative 'purist' prat on Twitter relentlessly criticise these experimental recordings - I guess they prefer the lyre to remain forever gathering dust as some museum relic, instead of unlocking the ancient magic it can create and enhancing it even further, by the wonderful additional palette of contemporary studio effects we now have available in our own times - transforming the ancient lyre into a magical vessel of mystical musical expression fit for our not so far off future, as an interplanetery species roaming amongst the stars...
@@MichaelLevyMusic I'm with you. To be quite honest, it was that very song that made me say; "I'm going to get one of these things," and that's exactly what I did. If people are being inspired to learn the lyre from both your ancient and experimental compositions, I'd say you're the one winning in the long run.
Could you perhaps one day reupload this on spotify as either a playlist of all of those songs in the video into one/ as an album? It would be awesome
A good idea! I did attempt putting together a few Spotify playlists from my albums, but for some reason, it only seems when someone else creates the playlist that they get any real listeners - maybe the Spotify algorithm doesn't like its artists 'blowing their own horn' (and I regrettably have no record company to blow any horns on my behalf either!). Indeed, I therefore rely entirely on the support of my actual Spotify listeners & followers to 'get my music out there' to new sets of potentially receptive ears.
If you therefore would like to create a meditative ancient Greek-themed Spotify playlist featuring any of my tracks which you particularly find conducive to finding some inner peace away from the present maddness of the war & hate torn 21st century we currently find ourselves floundering in, then I'm sure the ancient Muses will reward you for the effort - thanks once more, for your invaluable support in my ongoing musical mission to 'continue where the ancients left off'!

Do you ever FLIP the Lyre around? that's how Philolaus created the Liar of the Lyre as the foundation of the Greek Miracle - irrational number magnitude logarithms.

@@MichaelLevyMusic thanks - yeah I should have been more precise - the flip would be upside down. So that the bottom string is now the top string. The "bottom string" is no longer the lowest pitch but the octave higher.
As it happens, my first eBay lyre & my much better quality 10-string Marini lyre are both strung like a harp, with the lowest string farthest away and the highest string closest - but all my more authentic recreations of Ancient Greek lyres & my replica ancient Egyptian lyre are strung more historically authentic, with the bass closest and the treble farthest away (this enables the player to better feel the resonance of the instrument) - so as a consequence, I have adapted to being able to play lyres with strings either way around! 😀
@@MichaelLevyMusic cool! thanks for sharing to corroborate Professor Richard McKirahan's translation of Philolaus - so McKirahan argues Philolaus flipped the lyre around in order to introduce the concept of "magnitude" as an irrational number geometry. Well Archytas officially made it an irrational number... as "alogon." Luigi Borzacchini has a math article on it - about incommensurability and the continuum and music. It's freely readable on his academia site. thanks

Omg, adverts literally every five minutes. It's unwatchable.
No adverts on RUclips Premium, or on any of the albums which feature in this presentation on Spotify or any of the other digital music platforms - without ads, anyone, anywhere on RUclips could use any of my tunes in their products and I would gain nothing. Even humble musicians need to be paid for their work.
I have now made changes so that ads only appear at the start and end of the video - regrettably, as I have no record company, I still need the revenue from RUclips ads to cover the costs of all my many recording projects. I hope this improves your viewing experience?
