Hola, Sol y Luna! There is another Chavcano that the gentleman in the video failed to mention. The ones from Manila- the speakers are called Ermitaño. They are from Ermita, Manila. This chavacano is Closer to spanish in almost all levels of language (ie phonology, syntax). However, there is no known living speaker of the language anymore.

I am quite shocked that the sentence construction is somewhat similar also with Hiligaynon, only with less Spanish words though. What is more shocking is that Chavacano is also influenced by Hiligaynon, alongside Bisaya and Tagalog. I feel like I can learn this language by mere exposure as I am a Hiligaynon/Bisaya/Tagalog speaker myself.

Ilonggo people were recruited by Spanish soldiers to build the Fort in Zamboanga in 1565 . The story goes that in order no keep the sereno ( watchmen) awake they do a call and response type of conversation which became the BANTAYANON conversation inside the Fort. Later, this type of communication were adapted by the locals and community! . Chavacano adopted very important Hiligaynon words: Ours( de amon, de aton), Our ( allá canamon- in our place ; allá canaton ... for me a Chavacano native speaker snd adapted a little of of Sugbuanon Binisayâ , to learn Hiligaynon may not be a hard challenge .

In Chavacano, "tragon" means a person who eats too much or you say it when a person eats too much, a glutton. "Trago" means an abundance of food or the food that the "tragon" is about to eat 😅
If you're going to tease someone about the amount of food they eat, you have to say it in third person so that it hits differently.
"Bien tragon ba gat se ele, o."
"This person really eats too much." -you say this indirectly to a person.
    Hahaha

Hello Justwel. The reason why we don't quit Spanish in our video is because our Minyeonatics don't want us to. They say they learn some Spanish with us and they like when we speak Spanish. Don't worry, all Spanish in the videos is subbed.

Spoken language most of the time changes because of how some speakers are too lazy to say the correct pronunciation. Can call it colloquialism. It would still be understandable. Between speakers.

Ay sale means different than Man sale. Ay is just future form (contemplativo), man is distributive which means the action is being done as a group or recriprocal (reciprocativo). Thats why you have other Chavacano verb forms that combine them like Yamansale, Yamanpasale, aymansale, aymanpasale (ay/ya/ta + man + (pa)). Necessita gat kita codificar nuestra lenguaje que pronto gat su evolucion.
