- OBJECTIVE WAS TO ACTIVATE ESP OF NEXON IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT. I have to climb this hill daily to reach my workplace.
In this video, you get to see traction control of Nexon 2020 in action. All ESP functions of Nexon 2020 is always on and does not need to be activated via any separate switch. Nexon's official Gradeability is 34%
Safety features in NEXON
1. Child Restraint System
2. Engine Immobilizer
3. ABS + EBD
4. Electronic Stability Program ( lots of smaller features come under ESP like:)
a. Cornering stability Control
b. Electronic Traction Control
c. Roll-over Mitigation
d.Brake Disc Wiping
e. Electronic Brake Pre-fill
f. Hydraulic Brake Assist
g. Dynamic Wheel Torque by Brake
h. Engine Drag Torque Control
i. Hill Hold Control
All safety Features cannot be demonstrated practically, however all the ESP functions makes driving nexon easy and gives you great confidence in poor road conditions.
Gradeability for vehicles is measured in percentage, and it differs from the slope in degrees, for example, a 100% slope is a 45 degrees slope

My Tata Nano does very well in slope like this with 5 passengers. Note: It has back wheel drive.
Bruh that's a rear wheel drive car....driving a nano on hills isn't a big deal driving an alto 800 with 5 person luggage and AC on this kind of slope is a big task.....front wheels are prone to break traction easily

LOL! This comment shows your knowledge of traction control. TC is not meant to work in the situation that the driver is depicting. TC's work is to save the vehicle form going out of control. Suppose you are in high speed and take a sudden turn on wet surface, what happens your 1 wheel would spin more and vehicle will loose control and you will skid, there the TC will apply sufficient break to the spinning wheel and match it with other wheel. Now in the case the driver is depicting the TC should actually not stop the wheel from spinning, if it stops then the vehicle will never be able to come out of this place. That is the reason why known drivers stop TC when stuck in mud.
@@RahulVerma-ss6er Sir, you might be confusing ESP(electronic stability program) with TC(Traction Control). Traction is the ability to grip the road which the tire loses if it is spinning or locked. The traction control is supposed to apply the brakes on the wheels that are spinning.

'drive slippage regulation'), is typically (but not necessarily) a secondary function of the electronic stability control (ESC) on production motor vehicles, designed to prevent loss of traction of driven road wheels. TC is not meant to work in the situation that the driver is depicting. TC's work is to save the vehicle form going out of control. Suppose you are in high speed and take a sudden turn on wet surface, what happens your 1 wheel would spin more and vehicle will loose control and you will skid, there the TC will apply sufficient break to the spinning wheel and match it with other wheel. Now in the case the driver is depicting the TC should actually not stop the wheel from spinning, if it stops then the vehicle will never be able to come out of this place. That is the reason why known drivers switch off TC when stuck in mud. In Nexon there is no switch off, so it does it programatically.

@@pruthveshchaudhari6820 Creta base does not have ESP, hill hold functions but has more space and is bigger car than nexon. So if your main purpose is city drive and more space go for creta. But if u have highway, bad/slippery road prefer nexon for its ESP safety function however u will have to compromise on space.

I just went to Badrinath with 5 people and hell lot of luggage. I came across a point while climbing up a steep hill where the hand brake was not even working and car won’t even climb because of bikers overtaking and me eventually getting stopped. So I had to pull hand brake up until it can go and be hard on brakes. Then I released clutch and did half foot brake and race thing with hand brake, when the engine was past turbo lag, I immediately released hand brake and brake pedal and then car did the climb with full burnout😂, hell of an experience I had.

I claimed many times in my safari dicor. With the heavy kerb weight it will climb but I feel mahindra 540 550 will climb with load very easily.

XUV300 is the best in segment. I had a test drive if Nexon and XUV 300 in the same day in 10minuts gap. I found in Nexon a big cabin noice and hard clutch. XUV300 is very smooth. And I find blaind spot in Nexon A pillar. Body roll also more in Nexon. XUV300 has less boot space and less ground clearance ,because of this we are getting more rare space and less body roll. XUV 300 (D) has a powerful engine. It will give us a fun to drive experience. Over taking in highway by XUV 300 is really fun. After 2 months clear study I bought XUV300 W8(O) D manual. I am really very happy. Driving in city and even in high way is amazing. Corner stability is super. Very easy gare shift and. easy clutch. Because of the all 4 wheal disc breaks we get amazing braking. XUV300 has a lots of futures and super Safety too. If you want to drive an international standard SUV in 15.5L (top end diesel on road) go to XUV300 W8(O) without any hesitation. If your budget is low go for W6.

All the people quarrelling around in the comments should think of the fact that the traction control works the bests only if the car is a 4WD. Nexon is a 2WD so is of not much use. The ABS is interrupting on the left wheel that was causing the spinning and trying to slow it down so that the car doesn’t go out of control. The traction control is mainly designed in this segment to avoid roll over mitigation only at high speeds.
Nexon needs at least one variant of 4w drive

The car has traction control and esp and ebd. The wheel should not be slipping irreapective where the weight of car is or if the car was on turn. Something doesn't add up.
That thought did cross my mind, however there is some limitation to which TCS can help you, i was in sports mode and revving beyond 3000rpm wheelspin could happen or else engine might stall.

It's was a good demo of TC. However if one has good clutch control there would hardly be any wheel spin while climbing slopes.

Like no other non tc car never climbed this. I hv driven tavera in place like darjeeling hills where it's much more steep entry n D car I hired had bald front tyres. In 2016
Have you driven the car in snow? My point is.. traction control stops wheel from spinning, in snow you can't go ahead without wheels spinning, hence car just doesn't respond to throttle in snow, so for other cars you have to turn of the traction control In snow, but in Nexon you can't turn it off, does that mean the car will just remain static in snow or slippary conditions as traction control won't let the wheel spin and without wheel spin you can't go ahead.
Just to add, traction control does not stop/brake the wheel to a complete stop. It will brake intermittently so that the wheel spins and brakes, spins and brakes, so the car moves forward.

Mine have petrol version of 2018. I'm from Kolkata having insufficient experience on hill driving ..... last year drove solo with nominal luggages towards few kilometres beyond Tode, Kalimpong with my Nexon. Would you please comment will it be a good idea to go Tabokasi or take the route beyond Gopaldhara Tea State from Mirik to Jorpokhri?
Would you kind enough to guide me further, if I ask, can a petrol Nexon can go uphill like.....likewise.....Tiger Hill or Tonglu or Tumling or may be Upper Monsung or Shivakhola ..... with 3/4 adult heads and luggages in boot.
I have turbo petrol, cant comment on Tabakoshi have not been there, but will visit tiger hill soon with nexon, I will be sure to make a video for the same. also the more u drive on hills, the better u get and once u get enough experience u can take any vehicle as long as it is dry.
thats actually a traction control fail. the front wheels of the cars work like a differential. if one wheel gets stuck, all of the power goes to the other wheel. here the wheel on the driver kind of stuck and the other wheel getting full power. a TCS should controls both wheels in real time. free spinning of the wheel is a fail here.

Front wheel drive is for plain or decent abnormal surface.....Tata need to upgrade to rear wheel drive for Nexon that increase more on sales figure.

The real traction control i checked in my ford freestyle. Its evident and clearly you can feel the car is crawling in the slippery sand road. (It never spin like this )
