    ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO:
If your dog has been drinking excess water for a while and peeing often, these are the symptoms of kidney failure in dogs to look out for.
    Symptoms of Dog Kidney Disease-
    • Vomiting or diarrhea
    • Lethargy
    • Dehydration with much greater than before thirst
    • Lots of peeing or attempts to pee
    • Pale gums and weakness
    • Weight loss and decrease in appetite
What's the Cause And Symptoms of Kidney Disease In Dogs?
There are many factors that can lead to kidney problems in dogs but several are common and need to be focused on to better treat the condition.
Here's the possible causes for canine kidney disease:
    • Poor quality kibble diet causing dehydration and high toxin load
    • Over vaccination
    • Stress
    • Infection
    • High blood pressure
    • Kidney stones
The condition is preventable and this is far easier than having to treat it, so the best first course of action is to look at your dogs diet and vaccination procedure.
    Dog Kidney Failure Diet
If you feed your dog a kibble only diet, and they are showing symptoms, you'll want to improve it straight away, and the Healthier Kibble Diet I developed is great for this as it's far more kidney friendly and I'll leave a link to a video all about the healthier kibble diet in the description below.
If your dog is suffering kidney disease, I highly recommend you feed them a raw food diet. Vets may tell you your dog needs less protein in the diet because it stresses the liver but they do not take into account that your dog is a carnivore, handles raw food very well and is in dire need of fresh food to support healing.
Your dog needs fresh foods to rehydrate. Kibble contains around 17% moisture while fresh foods contain around 80% moisture and kidney disease is not only brought into being partly from chronic dehydration, it also continues to dehydrate your dog and that's very bad.
The other main issue with kibble is the high level of additives such as preservatives, colors and flavor enhancers. These all have to be continually excreted via your dogs kidneys, causing stress, stones, bladder infection and urinary tract infections.
Your dog must have fresh food in the diet, so check out the Healthier Kibble Diet video link in the description above.
Unfortunately, vets will offer restricted specialist diets that do nothing more than complicate the situation with further suffering.
Over vaccination can be a big factor for kidney disease in dogs, as many pet parents get annual vaccinations when it's completely unnecessary. Keep vaccinations to a minimum and certainly no more than once every three years as per AVMA guidelines.
If you can get your dogs diet changed or at minimum boosted via the healthier kibble diet and incorporate some natural home remedy options, you'll go a long way to comforting your dog and helping them to greater longevity and wellbeing.

I know raw diets have become very popular but It’s just hard to imagine dogs aren’t prone to infections from raw food. I wish I had found you earlier Dan. My 13 year old border collie was advised to change his dog food to a senior type food. Immediately he started getting diarrhea, constantly. He lost a huge amount of weight. Dad took him to his vet, who only gave him antibiotics. He said it was a gall bladder infection. We are now 6 months later. The diarrhea stopped but our dog is now only 13kgs and it used to be 22. I took him to a different veterinarian. She recommended other food as the previous bag had lots of bad preservatives. We also added probiotics, and she injected vitamin B12. She immediately noticed a strong bad breath, which she said was a sign of uric acid. We will get the results of blood analysis on Monday. She said he will not get his weight back. I am utterly heartbroken to see my dog as weak as he is now. He barely has the force left to stand on his back feet. I carried him into the car, and we used to play fetch until recently. I cried a lot over the last 2 days. It feels as if I have said goodbye

@@DanScott1 I will fight as if my own life depends on it and I am willing to spend any kind of time, money and effort to get him back to his best form. He is meant to be a witness at my wedding. I just noticed the links in your answer and I will check them now. Thank you so much. The result of the blood test will be known on Monday. I'm not sure what the difference in approach would be if the test shows a liver problem or a kidney problem, or both. The previous vet said gall bladder 6 months ago but now he is drinking huge amounts of water, which is more indicative of a kidney issue. I hope it is not general organ failure similar to what old people get. The new vet said that the outcome of the blood test allows us to adapt his diet more specifically. He'd have to supplement what affected organs can not process or digest. The new vet told me that he will not get back to his normal weight. I do hope he gets the strength in his hind legs back. She mentioned treatment with steroids as an option, but it was not her preference. Today I have given him his new food (no bad additives), some fresh chicken and fresh tuna. His probiotics too. It has lactobacils. If you can recommend a specific probiotic depending on the blood results, I would be grateful. I don't know if it is a good idea to give him chicken and tuna while we don't know which organs are affected. He had some diarrhea today, but not as badly as it was 6 months ago. That had a yellow colour and this was more dark and consistent. It had an invasive smell though, and he produced lots of poop today. I'm willing to prepare any fresh meal for him daily, at any cost. Feel free to tell me which foods give him power. The new vet also noticed that he had 1 badly rotten tooth at the end of his jaw line, affecting his gum which was inflamed. I know how much this can hurt in humans but my dog can't tell us. She said she could pull the tooth out but she would have to sedate him for it and he is too weak for that now. If he somehow gets his weight/strength back in a month, which I hope and pray for, maybe she can pull his tooth out later.

@@GrandmaBetty1945 I dont know the history so no clear picture. My one to one deals with all that. Let me know the blood results they help. There's plenty that can be done naturally and without the vet drugs/diet.
Best probiotics are soil based as they are stronger: amzn.to/3yoURqU
Careful on new foods and supplements as youll get diarrhea as the gut is not used to new foods/supplements so go slow and small on anything new.

@@DanScott1 Thank you Dan. I will contact you soon for 1 to 1. I will let you know which kind of kibble was recommended by the new vet. She mentioned the bad additives in the first kibble bag. I hope that this new version is not the same lie in a different package. I believe I paid a 100 euros for it. The new vet was one of my patients for osteopathy. I can't imagine that she lied to me for commercial reasons. That she gets a percentage on sales of the kibble she gave me. As an osteopath I am aware of the lies about food by our own food industry. Therefore I prepare whole foods for my own family every day. I'm disappointed in myself for not being aware of the problem with my dog sooner. I often work 12 hour shifts and therefore he lives with my parents, who are retired. They thought that the weight loss was just part of getting older. They didn't think anything of him drinking much more water and they thought that the smell was just the result of him jumping in the pond. I had faith in the first vet when he recommended the kibble. Turns out he was very wrong. For now I am giving him freshly cooked chicken. Some banana and apple. I looked into things that can detox his liver. It said basil and carrots. On one hand I understand that I have to go slow. On the other hand he's only 13kgs and I feel like the clock is ticking

My dog died at age 12 of kidney failure recently. She was poisoned by her kidney failure. Early in life, she got all of the recommended shots. Later in life, she only got the rabies shot. She was also fed organic, grain less kibble her whole life. I regret feeding her kibble now. She also underwent anesthesia twice for teeth cleaning and removal. Looking back, the anesthesia and drugs were hard on her body. I will never put a small dog through that again.

Dr Scott, i am really praying you can help me. I have a nearly 11 y.o. Irish Setter. About 18 months ago we found BUN and Creatinine elevated when doing lab tests for possible thyroid issues. Thyroid was low side of normal so we decided to use very low dose of l thyroxine. BUN was 64 with creatinine 2.1 and no signs of excess drinking or urination. Was on a balanced home cooked diet already for about 6 months at that point. Values remained stable and NA, K, CA and phosphorus were all still within normal ranges until late January this year when the BUN went to 94, creatinine went to 3.9 and other readings elevated but still within normal range except glucose was just above normal. Still was doing very well with no physical signs. Just had labs done Wednesday 5/3/23 as he has been doing very poorly with weak, shaky hind legs, low appetite, itchy skin (he has seasonal allergies) and low urge to drink due to his diminished mobility, vomiting and nausea, some diarrhea. Lab results were awful with BUN 134, creatinine 6.3, CA 12.1, PHOS 14.8, NA >170, glucose 136 (was not fasted for tests). Blood work also shows neutrophilia and hypochromia and AMY 1264. He was given a shot of famotidine along with subcutaneous fluids and i was given 10mg famotidine tablets to give 2 tablets every 12 hrs. When he is tolerating food again i am to start alum hydrox powder 1 tsp on food 2x a day. As of friday evening (48 hrs after labs) he is still quite nauseous and very reluctant to take any food or meds, although i did manage to coax him to eat a bit earlier. Drinking less than normal but better than before. Legs are still very weak and shaky and seems to have flank pain when touched based on his sides quiver for the initial touch no matter how light it is. He is 87 lbs, neutered at age 5 and will be 11 in one month. I will do anything at all to get him back to feeling better. Would give him one of my kidneys if i could. Can you please help us?

If you feed kibble, the best thing to do first is remove 50% of the kibble from the bowl and replace with raw eggs (best) soft boiled (ok) and preferably organic, canned sardines (in plain water with skin & bone intact: 12 Pack Sardines - amzn.to/3vaXrj6), some part cooked and blended veggies like broccoli, kale, green beans, spinach, brussel sprouts, bok choy etc and some meat proteins such as chicken meat, even better but not essential.
If not liking to prepare vegetables then these freeze dried greens are antioxidant packed to help protect cells from free radical damage, cellular repair, support immunity, joints, skin issues, heart and eye health: Core Immune CARE Greens: shrsl.com/3uv18
Now your dogs getting live enzymes, probiotics, Omega 3 oils, the highest quality proteins and nutritional assimilation from eggs (100%), and antioxidants, minerals and vitamins from vegetables and freeze dried greens.
Always add a quality probiotic to improve digestion and gut health: (skin issues/UTI's/yeast/itchy dogs) use this one: amzn.to/3yoURqU and for all other dogs use this one: shrsl.com/3uv7l
If you want an excellent, VERY low carbohydrate kibble at just 5%, (high carbohydrates cause chronic inflammation, with itchy skin, yeast, poor gut health, ear infection, UTI's and hot spots, and nearly all kibbles are 40+% carbs!).
Ketona has high protein at 47% (dogs thrive on proteins), correct fats at 15% and natural additives, so have a look at Ketona Kibble: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble. I recommend still adding the fresh foods even with the best kibble.
By introducing fresh foods, really lowering carbs use, introducing greens, omega 3's, proteins and a better more suitable kibble, your dog will respond with healing and improved health over the next 12 weeks.
      Some must do's:
Zero vaxx once adult (auto immune disease issues rife from over vaccination)
If Rabies is mandatory, use Protect after shots: (Humic & Fulvic acid) amzn.to/33P2P1i
Very low carbs in diet, 10% or less (cause of inflammation, poor gut health and later, cancer) No vet drugs, there's effective natural alternatives (always!)
Feed a healthier diet with at least 50% fresh food in it.
NO white foods ie white rice, potato, pasta..
So along with that grilled chicken, I would add some raw eggs, some canned sardines, some part cooked and blended veggies, the greens, the probiotics and a tonic: Dandelion tincture - amzn.to/33KWWT6 this helps with the blood sugar issues. Note my information on white foods/carbs! From now on, keep carbs low, they spike insulin.

I took my 15 year old to vet after throwing up, panting, tiredness, trembling and diarrhea, she was on I.vs and vet said her kidney is high and red blood low, we changed her diet to the prescribed food and got some meds. Could this be linked to UTI, she had before? Dental tarter issue? She also has a complicated eye infection which we wasn't recommended surgery at this age

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  3 года назад +2

There's going to be a few things flagging in the body: Filter system - kidneys, liver, pamcreas. UTI is infection from low immunity and some yeast causing infection. Dental tartar issues means infection via the blood stream which can link to the UTI. This is general decline from diet, vaccines, drugs, stress.
I do not recommend vet prescribed food.. you generally get more of the same health issues, only worse!
I do recommend to feed lots of vegetables, lightly cooked, well crushed/blended and added to the meal (important). Feed sardines, eggs, meats like chicken, turkey and lamb plus raw green tripe.
Feed herbs like dandelion and basil, garlic.
Feed kefir, goats milk or fermented vegetables and sprouts.
Small seeds like flax and sesame (crushed).
No vaccines, vet drugs (meds) as the kidneys have to deal with the toxins.
Add probiotics to all meals (start small and build up).amzn.to/3xqa2i0
Great all round help with freeze dried greens plus probiotics: amzn.to/3cOgzLu
A quality Omega 3 oil really helps: amzn.to/3vDdtjX
To cleanse and detox the liver (important): amzn.to/2SyDgg4
Spray the eye with silver daily: amzn.to/3iJ6hjB
This will make all the difference going forward.
      All the best.

It sounds early. Time for a fresh food based diet of either quality kibble with fresh food additions or all fresh food based diet. It's DIET that's needed to fix this long term. If you do kibble, Ketona is the best I know of at just 5% carbs and natural additives: Ketona Kibble: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble
You can mix in eggs, canned sardines in water and some part cooked and blended veggies. Freeze dried greens are good here for the kidneys: Green Immune + Super food - (GLM, phytoplankton, Microalgae and Spinach) healthydogforlife.com/GreenImmuneSuperfood
And add some nice meat proteins.
Or a home cooked or raw food diet:healthydogforlife.com/feed-your-dog-better-book-by-dan-scott/
Astragalus is used to protect and support the immune system, preventing colds and upper respiratory infections, lowering blood pressure, treating diabetes, and protecting the liver. Acquired renal Fanconi syndrome is caused by several drugs such as gentamicin, tetracycline and azathioprine, exposure to toxins such as heavy metals, infections such as leptospirosis and certain diseases such as primary hypoparathyroidism and copper associated hepatopathy .
There is what your doing presently with bicarbonate, plus theres potassium supplements and management of kidney disease through nutrition.

Yes, it's a difficult stage and I don't know the dogs health records.
I'd feed a clean healthy diet of raw foods or mostly. Foods that don't cause issue with the kidneys and along with supplements actually help repair the kidneys.
So that's zero food additives, drugs, vaccines, vet meds, flea&tick meds, de-wormer meds and so on. All have to go through the kidneys!
And then feed fresh foods which for dogs is mostly meats, offal, veg, eggs, fish and a few balancing supplements.
It's all a bit brief to go through here. There's my ebook: healthydogforlife.com/feed-your-dog-better-book-by-dan-scott/

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 года назад

Here's some information to help you. Feeding veggies is a good idea but not without proteins or the dog starves. Raw liver is great at 10% of meal total. Raw eggs are great complete nutrition too, feed as a protein.
      Protecting The Kidneys:
It’s crucial to protect and support healthy kidneys to avoid kidney disease in dogs.
1.Feed a fresh, whole food diet. A balanced raw diet will give your dog the protein, vitamins and nutrients he needs to function well. Adding the following to your dog’s regular diet will also help support his system and protect kidney function:
Eggs - easily digested complete food
Small fish like mackerel, anchovies and sardines (canned is good and convenient)
      Sprouts
Small seeds - flax or sesame are great (crushed)
Herbs - dandelion and parsley (can gets as tincture if not fresh): Dandelion Root Extract: amzn.to/33KWWT6
2.Add some fresh chopped herbs to your dog’s food - a pinch per 10 lbs up to 1 Tbsp for a dog 100 lbs or larger. If you buy dried herbs, capsules or a tincture, assume the dose on the label is for a 150 lb human and adjust the dose for your dog’s weight.
3.Avoid or minimize vaccines - since they’re a major cause of inflammation and the toxic adjuvants and additives can compromise your dog’s system. Since the kidneys flush toxins from the body, vaccines force the kidneys to work overtime anytime there’s a new toxin unreduced. Your dog’s kidneys don’t like those toxins and will work hard to flush them out.
4.Avoid drugs and toxins - Antibiotics are really hard on the kidneys and drugs that suppress symptoms are not actually doing anythin to heal the real issue. Use silver for antibiotic use: amzn.to/2UXexmC
5.Give a good quality probiotics to improve digestion overall and help the kidneys process better: amzn.to/3xqa2i0
Your dog’s kidneys are amazing organs that often don’t get the credit they deserve.
If your dog has kidney issues, using fresh food as therapy and avoiding the drugs/vaccines the kidneys will suffer through is the way to go for your dogs health long term.

We have a 12 year old chihuahua who has cushings and is diabetic. She was also diagnosed with kidney failure May 2, 2022. Her BUN, may 2, was at 48. So we began giving 150 ml every other day as instructed. We brought her in for another visit to another vet on June 18, 2022 and her BUN was at 82. We were so stunned and very concerned over the new numbers and were told to give her fluids twice a day. Her prognosis seemed bleak. Well, unfortunately we tried everything and she simply would NOT tolerate the twice daily fluids. She fought and barked and tried to bite so we had to settle for once a day and pray it was enough to help keep her going. Today, July 28, 2020 we took her to a third vet and to our dismay, he admonished us for giving her fluids and asked us why we were doing that to her. We told him we were instructed by an ER vet to give her fluids twice daily and had to settle for giving her fluids once daily instead. He told us “STOP!! STOP POKING HER! You’re telling me she doesn’t like it so why would you want to do that to her???!” Needless to say I felt shocked and offended that he would question us over following a veterinarian’s instructions when all that time we had been feeling so guilty that we were failing her by giving her only one daily treatment instead of two. He said 150 mL a day for a 14 lbs dog is way too much and added that we should have never been giving her that much, as though somehow it was an indictment on us for mistreating her. He took her to the back to check her kidney numbers and were we ever shocked when he came back 20 minutes later and said, “YES, STOP the fluids. Her BUN is at 29.” She’s not in renal failure. She’s at stage 2b or 3. With three different veterinarians telling us three different things within six weeks time what are we to think? While I am thrilled to death that her BUN was at 29 I can’t help but think that if we were “giving her too much fluids” as he said, her number would’ve been 7, 8 or even lower than that. Isn’t the fact that her BUN is now 29 proof that the fluids were actually working? I only want to do what’s best for my dog. We are concerned that if we stop the fluids that her numbers will go soaring back up into the 80s again. Can you please give me your insight on this. I’m not asking for any advice. I’d just like to know if you have any idea why he doesn’t attribute the good results to the daily fluids. We would love nothing more than to discontinue the fluids. The needles have been absolutely unbearable for all of us. I just want to understand why he was so adamant that she is fine and should not be on fluids. We’re hoping he’s right but given that her BUN nearly doubled previously I want to be sure his assertions make sense.

I don't have the history so I'm guessing but thank you for the details, appreciated.
Hydration is important, that's for damn sure as kibble does lead many dogs to dehydration and kidney issues.
What I would say is the following: feed a fresh food diet only, no dry food. That way you get the moisture needded into the dog without needles. Think raw food diet of raw egg, canned sardines (in plian water), part cooked and blended veggies and some meat like chicken/turkey/lamb/bison etc and a few supplements. And mineral water only, not tap!!
This will improve numbers. And NO vaccs, vet drugs, dewormers etc plus ZERO carbs/sugars.
Blood numbers change each test and just a snapshot in time. The focus here is nutrition.

    • @DanScott1

I'd use the chicken to build on with other options like fish (canned sardines are great), veg, not rice unless brown and just a small amount, eggs, pumpkin puree is ok, just a little. You could also use turkey, lamb and beef.
Also add probiotics for good digestion: amzn.to/3xqa2i0
And include a good oil like Hemp Seed oil
This is for omega 3 oil balance with the other foods and grest skin/coat health among other great health benefits.

My 15 year old shih tzu, was diagnosed an early stage of kidney failure. The vet said it is inevitable given his age. I am contemplating whether I should buy a kibble for renal or should continue to his usual diet only modifying it.

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  9 месяцев назад

What about transitioning over to something like freeze dried raw foods, bit like kibble only far healthier. Here's an example: Bixby Rawbble Freeze Dried Raw chicken - amzn.to/3YH6GVD
Bixby Rawble - Freeze Dried Lamb - amzn.to/3kDbUmX
You could slowly transition over using old to new food over two-3 weeks until it's just new food to give the gut time to adjust.
Forget renal kibble, it's not good enough nutrition and makes things worse.
Carbs want to be very low, proteins high quality, so the freeze dried option is good. And on top of this meal add some antioxidants, vitamins&minerals, enzymes plus good herbs for the kidney health: Green Vibrance - amzn.to/3R1m3HR
Take a little out from the meal, say 10% and replace with a canned sardine like these: amzn.to/3vaXrj6
Now your dogs kidneys have support.
Oh and zero vaccines, vet drugs, pet food synthetics of any kind ie the synthetic additives in most kibbles.

im giving my dog raw primal chicken patty with homeade organic chicken broth, spring water, marshmallow root, dandlion, nettles, cranberry juice, d mannose. It's working mostly and i've been able to avoid taking her to vet but she had a seizure again this morning and can't understand why. Her urine is clear with no pink. I'm doing everything right as far as I can tell. The seizures started a year ago when she was suffering from a bladder infection and I gave her an antibiotiic prsecriibed by vet that is unbeknownst to me notorious for causing seizures. Since then she has had about 5 seizures and i've been able to keep it under control with subcutaneous drip on onset and the diet mentioned above. There is something in that fluid bag that helps but I'm not sure what it is and how I can provide it to her naturally. Any adviice is appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Dan,
My dog has foam in his urine. We've been in touch tackeling his liver disease and he's flourishing. But the past 3 days he's had water diarhea every hr, than it went to every 3-5hrs giving him food and suppliments off your advice, even did the 24hr fast plus the diarhea med off amazon i caught in your other video plus the firm up pumpkin. Just got the firm up and diarhea pectin today so hoping it clears it up but my question is could it be a sign of his kidneys going bad given the foam issue? The diarhea is all he has, he's flourishing everywhere else thanks to you. You literally saved his life. He went from knocking on deaths door cuz of his liver to almost a puppy again within a week. Now it's this pesky diarhea again. I can't thank you enough for giving my dog his health back. For that reason i wanted to ask you first cuz I've told you how bad his vet is and the "good" ones i hear about aren't excepting new patients yet to get his urine and kidneys checked

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  Год назад +1

It's called proteinuria. Proteins are slipping into the urinary system because of the kidney issues. The diet needs to be fresh food only no dry food. No carbs either and no drugs, vaxx.
Start with bone broth, get the diarreha under control and slowly move over to fresh foods like chicken, raw eggs, canned sardines in water and part cooked and blended veggies. Use this green powder: amzn.to/3cOgzLu start small and build up to 1/2 scoop small dog, 1/3rd scoop med dog and 1/2 scoop bigger dog.
He may have an infection causing this pee too, so run a 7 day protocol with oregano oil as the antibiotic once daily: amzn.to/3ulnF1T It's neat so mix 1 drop oregano oil to 1tsp carrier oil ie olive oil, mix and add to food or wrapped in treat which is pushed to back of throat so has to swallow.
Give lots of water to drink, make it mineral/bottled etc not tap and give some plain coconut water to drink also, but get moisture into your dog.

@@DanScott1 I figured as much but not sure how to remedy it or why the protein is going through his kidneys. What can i do if my dog won't eat any veg on his own? I've tried everything. I hate having to force them down him every day just so he gets them and stressing him with the process. And is it fine to give them to him raw all the time? I just take them from the freezer, soak them, and send them through the food processor so i can feed them to him easier. He won't eat them so i dont bother cooking them and if he smells them in his meat i cooked, he wont touch the meat lol. I have to put them to the back of his throat and that's how he gets his veggies. I guess his urine smells too. I don't smell anything but my dad does. I started your home cooked meal plan a few months ago and it's done wonders. How many oz should he have a day with liver disease and now his kidneys? He's not active and 75-80lbs and i try to give 8oz a day at least of veggies as to not overwhelm him but please let me know if he needs more. Plus he gets up to 16oz of meat a day. Less if he's being picky. I've been going off your recipe measurements and dividing it in a daily portion. Lately his meats have been chicken, turkey, gizzards, and some steak or lean ground beef. And when he wants to be picky with the leftovers, i put the meat in the food processor so he still gets it with his veggies. He's a very difficult eater. And i try to mix brown rice or quinoa with his meals. He gets a pinch of pink salt every day, a raw egg, green immune + powder, probiotics, and milk thistle. I also give him king kanine cbd oil. I'm a lil confused how how much green immune to give him as well. We got control of the diarhea but he still gets a cple watery stools here n there. Usually when he's fought us on the food so he wasn't able to get as much food as he should have. He's getting tired of the force feedings. I can tell when he didn't get quite enough food the day before. It's hard to keep up with a picky eater when i work. Luckily my mom does it while i'm gone so i dont have to give him a big meal after 11pm. I also started giving him merrick dog food as a break in between from having to get force fed and give him that excitement of chewing. He still gets his veggies and meat but we were using it as a filler and break for him. He's still very much hydrated thank goodness cuz he gets the veggies plus drinks plenty of filtered water. I make sure to use filtered water only now. Coconut water won't work with him cuz he'd rather go without than consume anything he don't like. Even if means going days without eating, he'll do it if he had to lol. Hence my dilemma here. I also use a bone broth in his veggies when i have it on hand so it makes a puree, otherwise i use the fat water from cooking the chicken and trurkey and filtered water. Are those enough oz a day or should he be getting more veg and meat for his liver and kidneys? And what carbs do i stay away from? Am i doing things right even? It can all be so overwhelming. Thank you so much for your time and effort. You literally saved my dogs life

Incorporate foods with Vitamin B9: pumpkin, carrots, egg yolks, whole wheat, and rye. A diet rich in iron, protein, and vitamin B12. A raw food diet is best.
The following foods and supplements provide the nutrients that your dog needs to treat anemia.
      1. Beef liver which contains iron, protein, B complex, and B12.
      2. Kelp powder which contains iodine and other trace minerals.
      3. Green vegetables which contains iron and other minerals.
      4. Nutritional yeast along with B12 which offers the same benefits as the liver.
      5. Vitamin C, from 500 to 2,000 milligrams per day (depending on the dog's size) which helps with the absorption of iron from the intestinal tract.
      6. Eggs
      7. Sardines
Stay away from drugs and vaccines. All natural diet, all natural remedies.

Give plain coconut water to drink in small amounts often. What you want is fresh food in the diet and take out the commercial food, at least half of it. The kidneys needs healthy liquides running through them and healthy fats running through the liver for 3 months.
So take out half the normal meal and replace with raw eggs, canned sardines (in water), and part cooked and blended green veg. Once that's eaten and held down, start adding a little chicken or other meats. Raw or semi raw is best.
What country do you live in?

The other values are in the normal range, and they thought maybe she was dehydrated because she doesn't like to drink on her own. I have to give her water orally every day now. Wondering what your take is on that value being high but others normal. Is that usually pre-kidney disease and does the dog need a kidney disease diet if protein, urea and bun are normal? Thanks!

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  Год назад +1

It's an indicator that's all. It tells me your best starting your still young dog on higher quality nutrition going forward.
I would not go the traditional kidney disease food route as, oddly enough, this food will lead to issues at some point.
I recommend (small dog) transitioning to freeze dried raw or frozen raw meals. Frozen example: Steve's Real Food Freeze-Dried Raw Food Diet for Dogs and Cats, 2-Pack, Turducken Recipe (Turkey & Duck), 1.25 lbs - amzn.to/3CIje5c
Freeze dried: Rawbble Freeze Dried Raw chicken - amzn.to/3YH6GVD
      Both great options.
Medium or large dog, you could do a healthier kibble meal:
Here's some information important to keep kidneys and all the rest of the organs healthy plus some extra to do's at the end and ALL important-
If you feed kibble, the best thing to do first is remove 50% of the kibble from the bowl and replace with raw eggs (preferably organic), canned sardines (in plain water with skin & bone intact: 12 Pack Sardines - amzn.to/3vaXrj6), some part cooked and blended veggies like broccoli, kale, green beans, spinach, brussel sprouts, bok choy etc and some meat proteins such as chicken meat, even better.
If not liking to prepare vegetables then these freeze dried greens are antioxidant packed to help protect cells from free radical damage, cellular repair, support immunity, joints, skin issues, heart and eye health: Core Immune CARE Greens: shrsl.com/3uv18
Now your dogs getting live enzymes, probiotics, Omega 3 oils, the highest quality proteins and nutritional assimilation from eggs (100%), and antioxidants, minerals and vitamins from vegetables.
Always add a quality probiotic to improve digestion and gut health: (skin issues/yeast/itchy dogs) use this one: amzn.to/3yoURqU and for all other dogs use this one: shrsl.com/3uv7l
Zero vaxx once adult (auto immune disease issues)
Very low carbs in diet (cause of inflammation)
No vet drugs, there's effective natural alternatives.
Feed a healthier diet with at least 50% fresh food in it.
NO white foods ie rice, potato, pasta..

      6. If you want to feed a kibble, this one is the best for high protein (47%) and very low carbs (7%) which is excellent plus natural viatmins and minerals: Ketona Kibble: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble
I'd still mix some fresh foods into this diet as listed above ie eggs, canned sardines (in water) and lots of part cooked and blended veggies. Probiotic: amzn.to/3J3IC7w and live enzymes: amzn.to/37MrINq and a gut guard: amzn.to/3AwRsYe

@FreeAmerican-mm2my She was eating and happy to get into the car. She was urinating more than normal and then immediately drinking water. We noticed she was sleeping more. She is only 9 and she is jack Russell and chiwawa mix. Today the vet said she is very up beat. He gave her a shot of vitamin B12 and a antibiotic the day of the taking blood and she was a new dog the next day. The labs came back and he said she has acute kidney/ pancreas failure thank you

My dog's recent urinalysis and blood test compared with the test he had 1.5 yrs. ago showed increase in trace protein in urine, presence of blood cells in urine & has tested + Lyme and Anapasmosis both times. He now has begining stages of kidney disease with 1.6 cretinine, Bun 44, both High. On Low side were Total Protein 5.2, Albumin 2.6 SDMA level was in normal but higher level 13.
I did give 1M of Ledlum after the Lyme diagnosis last year, and he still tests positive on latest test this year. But no symptoms because i did give a 30 day antibotic for the Lyme last year.
Once the positive test for Lyme, will that keep showing up on the blood tests as antibodies thus giving a positive result going forward? Should I once again give the 1M Ledlum 3x day for 3 days even tho he's symptom free but still shows + Lyme on recent test? I am not going to give antibotics again.
Stopped giving vaccines, just titers. Also no medications, the only bad thing i do is the flea / tick collar. But we live in a high deer tick infested area in the North East & i even got lyme disease 2x myself. Do you think this is what is elevating his kidney disease symptoms and not my Vet's thinking it is from the Lyme Disease he had? If so, i will remove it - but i'd rather not since this is tick central. I do give him a break in winter by not wearing the Seresto collar 3-4 mo out of the year.
I am giving a frozen gently cooked wet food and a bit of kibble (Open Farm dry & Bixbi Liberty) along with fermented Goats Milk

You can give Ledum palustre 30c (Lyme) - amzn.to/3Ilu3eU Good results with this.
Make your own flea collar with standard synthetic cloth collar, just add drops of Neem oil: amzn.to/3iV0Igq

Last friday, we went to vet to check up my dog's bloated stomach. It was ascites. We already gave her diuretics and after just 2 days, her bloated stomach full of fluids were gone. Now we have to medicate her since the vet said her liver has some color white and her 2 kidneys also have damages. She's also anemic. She was also advised to have low-protein diet. Now our problem is she's not eating for almost 3 days now. We force feed her with wet foods. We tried a lot from malunggay soup with chicken, rice with soup, fish, banana, egg, etc. But she won't eat by herself so we force feed her. However, she throws up her food after some time... She's so skinny now... I don't wanna lose hope. I want her to live. Please help me how can we feed her food without her throwing up every after she eats? Protecting The Kidneys & Liver:
It’s crucial to protect and support healthy kidneys and liver to avoid kidney/liver disease in dogs.
Feed a fresh, whole food diet.
Herbs - dandelion: amzn.to/33KWWT6 and parsley: amzn.to/3uQYAxC (As tinctures)
Add some fresh chopped herbs to your dog’s food - a pinch per 10 lbs up to 1 Tbsp for a dog 100
lbs or larger. If you buy dried herbs, capsules or a tincture, assume the dose on the label is for
a 150 lb human and adjust the dose for your dog’s weight. Here's a multi herb freeze dried product
with LOTS of antioxidants crucial to health, also including probiotics, beta glucans (protect/boost immune system) and much more: Green Vibrance: amzn.to/3cOgzLu
1/4 scoop, sml dogs, 1/3 scoop med dogs, 1/2 scoop big dogs.
Avoid or minimize vaccines - since they’re a major cause of inflammation and the toxic adjuvants and additives can compromise your dog’s system. Since the kidneys flush toxins from the body, vaccines force the kidneys to work overtime anytime there’s a new toxin unreduced. Your dog’s
kidneys don’t like those toxins and will work hard to flush them out.
Avoid drugs and toxins - Antibiotics are really hard on the kidneys and drugs that suppress symptoms are not actually doing anythin to heal the real issue. Use silver for antibiotic use: amzn.to/2UXexmC
Give a good quality probiotics to improve digestion overall and help the kidneys/liver process better: amzn.to/3xqa2i0 (don't need if getting the greens above).
If your dog has kidney/liver issues, using fresh food as therapy and avoiding the drugs/vaccines the kidneys/liver will suffer through is the way to go for your dogs health long term.
The Best Foods for Kidney/liver Health

Normally I never hear back on RUclips comments but I've been out of options and I figured I'd try asking here so thank you so much for responding. As for the kind of stone, all I know is he has been producing struvite crystals. I hope that's enough information but if not, I can ask the vet for any other specific information he may be able to provide. It got real bad after his kidneys suffered inflammation but the vet suggested several sessions of a laser therapy which seem to have helped bring the kidneys back down to normal size. I still don't know what to do about the stones though and I would love to know what new diet he needs to halt the struvite crystals production in his body. I also would expect some extent of kidney damage after how much he visibly hurt at his worst so I am curious about what supplements or medications I can get him on to help improve kidney function to see if I can help give him a happy older age. The doctor had said that if his inflammation didn't go down that the best course of action would have been to put him down but fortunately he responded well to the laser therapy. He still still has his days of discomfort though and that's why I want to see what healthy options I can feed him to try to extend his kidney health. The doctor last said that he had done everything he was able to do so if my boy has any chance at living another few years, I'd likely have to figure it out myself. He said that dogs can live a fairly normal life as they wait to pass the stones so if he can wait on the stone passing I guess I can too. What I'm more concerned about is his kidney health after how much he hurt at his peak pain. I want to try to change his diet to support his kidneys as much as possible and if need be, get him on whatever vitamins, supplements and/or medications he may need.

      • High starch diets are high in magnesium, contributing to struvite stone formation.
      • They’re highly processed and offer poor quality nutrition.
      • They’re usually not complete and balanced.
      • High carbohydrate diets are inflammatory.
So these diets can actually worsen your dog’s health. Instead, feed your dog a home-made diet that creates more acidity in your dog.
Dissolving bladder stones with diet can take 8 to 12 weeks and sometimes as long as 20 weeks. It’s a good idea to repeat x-rays at 8 weeks to see if the stones are getting smaller. If not, they may not be struvite stones.
      Food To Manage Struvite Stones
Dogs develop struvite stones when their urine is alkaline and saturated with magnesium and phosphate. Struvite stones usually stem from bacterial infections.
Dogs who produce a high concentration of urea may be more susceptible to struvite stones. That’s because bacterial urease converts urea to ammonia, a component of struvite.
Animal proteins are acidifying. So, to manage struvite stones, feed your dog a raw meat based diet with other acidic foods.
INCLUDE Acidic Foods For Struvite Stones
      • Chicken (be sure this is organic and free range)
      • Beef
      • Eggs
      • Pork
      • Cottage cheese
      • Brown rice
      • Black beans
      • Chickpeas
      • Kidney beans
AVOID Alkaline Foods For Struvite Stones
      • Broccoli
      • All sprouts
      • Cabbage
      • Pumpkin
      • Asparagus
      • Carrots
      • Cucumbers
      • Green beans
      • Peas
      • Kale
      • Spinach
      • Sweet potatoes
      • Swiss chard
      • Fruit: bananas, apples, pineapple, strawberries
      Cranberries
Cranberries can be a good addition to your dog’s diet to help prevent struvite stones. Research shows cranberries can help manage and prevent UTIs. Infections are often at the root of struvite stone formation.
Cranberries also create more acidity in your dog, which helps prevent struvite stones.
Always buy organic cranberries. It’s a fruit that’s otherwise grown with a lot of pesticides. If your dog will eat whole cranberries, sprinkle a few on his food to start. Unsweetened freeze-dried cranberries can be another good option.
Here's a dog dedicated cranberry based supplement for greater convenience: amzn.to/3fBhKiu
      Apple Cider Vinegar: amzn.to/33n2vHC
Many dogs with struvite stones respond well to regular apple cider vinegar (ACV). Again, it helps acidify your dog’s urine to discourage struvite stones from forming.
Buy raw, organic unfiltered ACV. Mix it with your dog’s food (or water, if she likes it), in these amounts according to weight.
      Up to 15 lbs … 1 tsp
      Up to 35 lbs … 2 tsp
      Up to 85 lbs … 1 Tbsp
Plus gives lots of mineral or filtered water. NEVER tap!
Just don't want you wondering down that wrong path with your dog.

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  8 месяцев назад +1

It's not from that diet, that's for sure. More likely from annual vaccinations, vet drugs and commercial pet foods, that's the usual way and that I do know.
      Here's some help:
      Protecting The Kidneys:
It’s crucial to protect and support healthy kidneys to avoid kidney disease in dogs.
Feed a fresh, whole food diet. A balanced raw diet will give your dog the protein, vitamins and nutrients he needs to function well. Adding the following to your dog’s regular diet will also help support his system and protect kidney function:
Eggs - easily digested complete food
Small fish like mackerel, anchovies and sardines (canned is good and convenient: amzn.to/3vaXrj6)
      Sprouts
Small seeds - flax or sesame are great (crushed)
Herbs - dandelion: amzn.to/33KWWT6 (excellent option for kidney health) and parsley (can gets as tincture if not fresh)
Add some fresh chopped herbs to your dog’s food - a pinch per 10 lbs up to 1 Tbsp for a dog 100 lbs or larger. If you buy dried herbs, capsules or a tincture, assume the dose on the label is for a 150 lb human and adjust the dose for your dog’s weight.
Avoid or minimize vaccines - since they’re a major cause of inflammation and the toxic adjuvants and additives can compromise your dog’s system. Since the kidneys flush toxins from the body, vaccines force the kidneys to work overtime anytime there’s a new toxin unreduced. Your dog’s kidneys don’t like those toxins and will work hard to flush them out.
Avoid drugs and toxins - Antibiotics are really hard on the kidneys and drugs that suppress symptoms are not actually doing anythin to heal the real issue. Use silver for antibiotic use: amzn.to/2UXexmC
Give a good quality probiotics to improve digestion overall and help the kidneys process better: amzn.to/3xqa2i0
Your dog’s kidneys often don’t get the care they need. If your dog has kidney issues, using fresh food as therapy and avoiding the drugs/vaccines the kidneys will suffer through is the way to go for your dogs health long term.

Veterinarian Steven Tobin has reported that he has used Ledum (1M potency, three times daily for three days - yes, that isall, just three days) in treating hundreds of dogs for Lyme with very good success.
