First Class and DofP are such good films. Amazing how they dropped the ball so hard on Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.

Just shows how far magneto is willing to go for his mutant brothers and sisters. Raven was the reason the sentinels were created that will lead to their destruction so he is willingly to take her out if need be in order to save his mutant people. He has conviction and stands by his belief.
True, but he has a gargantuan ego to think he has the right to make that decision, especially considering it's just speculative . Also devaluing one life devalues all life.
Raven is the means by which the Sentinels acquire adaptive technology (shifting their bodies to facilitate changes to weapons and defenses best suited to various opponents). Magneto is the reason the Sentinels were created, long before the adaptive technology was created. Everything he does in the movie only pushes things more toward Armageddon. Raven choosing to protect Nixon from Magneto is what derails the Sentinel program.

I how when Magneto has to fight against other mutants, it's rarely personal. He could've impaled or choked Hank, but he just restrained him. Yes, he tried to shoot Raven, but only because he thought it would ensure mutantkind's survival
Conversely, Hank could've easily ripped Magneto's head right off his body or ripped his neck open with his claws, but apparently chose not to do it.

@@jobobbob5825 My theory was that this is a few months after Logan left Stryker’s team in Origins, and went to work as a body guard in the US. But here it looks like this is the first time Stryker has ever seen him, unless he’s just to scared to call him by his name or something.

I understand the plot armor needed for Magneto here, but in the context of the scene, there's a flaw in internal logic: Beast is more than strong enough to rip Magneto's head off his body, and has sharp enough claws to rip his throat out. Even if he's trying to knock him out instead of kill him, a couple of good punches or knocking his head against the bottom of the fountain out to do it. Waiting for him to run out of oxygen is the single dumbest way to try to knock him out.
So? Beast is making a mistake trying to drowned Magneto. He pays for that mistake
What part of "Beast could" actually translates to "Beast would"? You say "if he just wanted to knock him out", but does Beast actually have the control to fight someone like Magneto and still restrain himself enough that a good smack does nothing but knock him out?
Actaully it makes sense its harder for Magneto to concentrate and use his power while hes being drowned thats why he relaxed and pretended to be unconscious
Beast was being a dick and making magneto suffer by trying to drown him super slow. Making him Think about how he handled himself a couple minutes ago.

I still feel the pain of the X-Men reboot balls up. They did the hard part, they successfully revived a popular and established franchise & managed to recast actors that some considered to be completely irreplaceable and reset the timeline in a way that made sense so they weren’t confined to the canon that they already showed us. And they managed to keep the momentum despite the most popular character (wolverine) not being included. And then after they succeeded tackling the part that would completely destroy any chances of most established franchises carrying on, for some reason they thought it would be a good idea to tell a version of the exact same story that gave them the need for a reboot in the first place (dark Pheonix story). They had a chance to do something new and exciting after being given the chance of a lifetime that all dwindling franchises would kill for, and they went and made the exact same mistake that got them in the shit in the first place. It’s even worse when you consider that the actor who was playing Gene Gray wasn’t very popular at the time, so it would’ve been smart for them to head in a new direction that doesn’t require as much attention on her. It just hurts so much to see the neglect
Yeah it's crazy how bad they fumbled this franchise. Dark Phoenix was terrible but it really started with Apocalypse. It was mediocre at best and just showed that they had no restraint, they were jumping straight into the most powerful ridiculous villains just out of pure name recognition, and it made things fall flat due to lack of build-up.

Magneto's idea about killing her is basically kill one mutant to save one million. He was a bad guy but good.
He doesn't realize that killing Mystique will only help Trask gain the final ingredients he needs to build the future sentinels. Magneto isn't changing anything.

@@elijahalesana8150 I think that when Logan saw Stryker, it awakened a trauma in him ( which had been somewhat buried with the loss of his memory ) and this trauma disrupted the "temporal transfer" and lost Logan for a few seconds
Such a good movie. One of the best xmen movies and one of my favourite superhero movies in general. This and first class were awesome, they messed up so bad with apocalypse and dark phoenix

Most of them are great. Some are just okay. Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique started out okay, but then quickly turned to awful as the movies progress. You can almost see her lose interest and put less effort in the role as it progresses. Definitely could have done with a better Mystique. The first one was pretty spot on.

I always loved the found footage parts of this scene. It would be cool to see other Marvel characters in an old found footage format. Like imagine seeing Iron Man zoom by or Spider-Man fighting Doc Ock in an old 70s camera.
Beast's make up is definitely improved in this one

Erik does have a thing with guns, especially directing bullets to meet his targets. He also has a thing with killing Presidents, which he allegedly did before the movie and tries to do again at the end of the movie. Very well written script with thematic coherence.
I just like it when Charles Xavier said "you're on acid"
I love it; it gets me every time. Just Charles being like "Hmm, what will be easier for him to accept and understand - that another mutant sent him back in time because Raven is screwing things up in his time and that I am actually the man he knows as bald and in a wheelchair OR that he's on acid and is just confused.
Tbf, a uni friend of mine told me several years ago that over the course of his life (he was 51), he had tried a variety of drugs and the only one he fully regretted was acid. He said he took it once and it screwed with his head for several days in a bad way, and he would never, ever take it again. (Before anyone makes a comment on this story, I would like to add that from the time I knew him onwards, he was not a drug addict. He died a few years ago, and he was one of the kindest people I have ever met.)

The screenplay, direction, cast performances in these scenes are cool as is, but can we also appreciate that soundtrack while Magneto wields his power? I think it was meant to sound metallic, like some sonorous metal sheet being bent-they even use such sounds in some metal-bending shots, and then they used it to sound like music. Not only that, mixed with the visuals, it shows the extent of his power, because the track usually plays when he bends a lot of things or heavy things. Really creative music production and direction.

Could you imagine being/living in 1970s and 80s. When there were still alot of segregation (among other issues) and the average person didnt have a cell phone. You see a blue person. You freak out and are scared.
You see even a fight/ or public event today in 2021. Everyone breaks out their cell phone cameras,records and tries to post it on media.
Magneto standing up for what he believes and im still shocked he didnt hurt/kill the whole crowd when we all know he could have easily.
