  • Euphoria’s Maddy Perez is the ultra confident queen bee of Euphoria High, and for two seasons the universe seemingly continually tries to destroy her sense of self. But Maddy has no problem fighting back against anyone or anything that tries to shake her confidence. Her story is a rollercoaster of ups and downs, and we can learn a surprising amount about staying true to yourself and not letting the hard times derail you from her refusal to give up. So let’s take a look back at Maddy’s outlook on life, loyalty, and confidence, and how in the end she was so right about pretty much everything.

i think what many people miss: maddy says her parents barely talk but it seems its not a volatile or hostile relationship they have per se. its probably a marriage void of passion, but not void of love and care for each other. i think maddy is the only one of the euphoria kids that has not been forsaken, abused or voluntarily - or in rues care involuntarily - been left behind by a parent. seems like her blue collar parents both love and dote on her, enough to immediately pull her out of pageants the second they hear of se*ual abuse - even if it might have been their only current option to rise up economically quickly because sometimes pageants result in other entertainment opportunities - since the only other way to reach social mobility as a family is by your kids excelling at formal education, but that takes a long time, school, college and in most cases grad school. i think maddy is confident because her parents seemed to value her, and always prioritized her safety, well being and VALUE - thus they pressed charges even tho maddy forgave nate. even tho the jacobs are the towns royalty, her parents pressed charges against nate against maddys will and stood their ground. she is deeply and unconditionally loved, and it shows.

This. I've brought this and the Tyler situation up whenever someone lavishes her character with praise! She only cared about exposing that video when she wanted to get Nate back for sleeping with Cassie! I mean, there isn't a Euphoria character that isn't flawed, and as teenagers, there's a lot I can excuse because being young and navigating your emotions can be messy. But I'm not seeing this massive growth in her character from season one! I blame the halo effect 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @chigusayamamoto5063
      @chigusayamamoto5063 18 дней назад +3

@@KittyGoldPaint I’m guessing it’s all about outweighing the good and the bad.
Bad - lying to a guy about your age/not bothering to disclose your age; saying you were blacked out when you weren’t; using a disk to harm your friend (just to spite your ex).
Good - Being an amazing friend (especially to Cassie). Providing advice about confidence to your friend’s little sister. Being confident. Showing support to your ex-bestie’s little sister (even if it was awkward to watch at first).
So in conclusion, the reason no one addresses this is because of how they outweigh the good points and the bad.

I think Maddy is the type of character you admire in a TV show, but in real life, she would be really frustrating to deal with. Her character shines in season 2 because Cassie takes her place in the story, Maddy knows about the abuse Jules went through and still pretends it is not big of a deal, and most of her actions just show how egocentric, shallow, and mean person she is when she can't get what she wants our of other people and her "friends".

Maddy does not stand up for herself with Nate. She lets him get away with abusing her and frames some innocent guy instead. So no, she does not stand up for herself when it is actually hard and important to do that. She is not secure enough with herself to let him go forever. And clearly, she is afraid of walking away, which is why she considers getting back with him in S2. I am sorry, she is not inspiring to anyone, let alone young girls. Sure, there are some nice qualities about her but she is not worthy of the adoration that this video gives her. That is just my two cents

Maddie’s only “goal” is to be the one being serviced in the nail salon rather than being the one doing the nails (the show says this).
Other than confidence, what actual goal does she have? What type of career does she want? Can she maintain that confidence and self assurance if she is only qualified to work a dead-end job because she peaked in high school?
Of all the main leads it seems like only Lexi has a dream/goal for her future (being a writer).

yes!! which is why kat’s weird ass story line in S2 didn’t land at all. it was interesting to see how kat navigated feigning confidence as a fat woman (her confidence derived entirely from the validation she got from sexually performing for men and was quick to reject the possibility of someone loving her for more than her immediate willingness to have sex).
it would’ve been far more interesting to see her growth beyond male validation instead of the very lazy cringey storyline that we got. maddy is still confident without servicing men, kat on the other hand has bursts of confidence after sexual encounters bc she has tricked herself into believing it was all on her own terms when it reality it prob just feels good to be wanted as a fat woman - a trait that’s considered a death sentence for women

There is nothing great in falling in love with the school alpha male and supporting his abuse of others. Nate is just evil and Maddy is complicit in it. I really don't want to do any victim blaming or sound like an incel but dating a guy like Nate (after everything that has happened) sends the worst possible message to every teenage boy growing up. And to parade Maddy like The Take does in this video seems vicious and dangerous to boys, girls and every person who wants to further the well-being of humans. I know it can be "unrealistic" but it was amusing and had really great female characters! Not role models, but fun characters. Maddy is the girl You wish You could be 💖🌹✨ and I love her 😍💯 EUPHORIA changed make-up for ever!!! And the aesthetic is amazing ✨ I think I Will be of the few people who wil miss the show 💔

She is toxic, put an innocent man in jail, insulted Kat unprovoked because she stopped agreeing to everything Maddy says, not to mention a violent person. As another Latina, I don't find that behavior "inspiring" and "strong."
I didn't think it was cool or cute when girls I went to school with would beat up girls over guys, and lets be real; if they were adults, that's straight-up assault!
You can't even blame her violent streak entirely on Nate because they showed a young Maddy in Jr. High beat a girl up. I grew up around violence, both at school and at home. All I felt was shame and frustration about it; not proud! I have the utmost sympathy for survivors of violence, and Maddy did not deserve Nates abuse, but she shouldn't be regarded as inspiring.

@@chaosspy6723 Look, I've been attacked physically before so I know what retaliating looks and feels like. But slamming someone's head into a wall can cause serious repercussions! People have died over fights over an ex or somebody who they just thought liked or slept with someone, and that's just vile! People aren't property! And again, it's assault! She doesn't care about Rue or Lexi because they aren't a threat to her. She made Rues intervention all about her, and people act like because she hugged her, that they're all besties. She literally had a sit down with Kat to tell her that her behavior sucks, now that she exudes confidence (as misguided as it was) but where was this harsh talk about Rues sobriety when she knew she fell off the wagon? Oh but she hugged her, and believed her when she deflected by putting attention on Cassie & Nate. Then it never came up again, despite two of the moms trying to prioritize what was really important, and Rue got to get away. The halo effect strikes again I see.
