Rick Rude jumped out at the screen to you he exuded pure arrogance and then the size and power to back it up. A hilarious and very entertaining gimmick in WWF, when he went to WCW he was more intense and very convincing, world champion and with dangerous alliance was his best days.
I hurt my back in 2018! I blew out my L4 and L5 disk's and saw my spine curve in an unnatural way to compensate for the pain It was the most painful experience in my life. I know exactly how Rick Rude felt when he hurt his back. I sympathy for anyone who suffers from herniated disks and any disability. It really really sucks when you hurt your back! 2:28:00 is where they talk about his injury
Man, Rick Rude was a star. And was just what a world champion was supposed to be and look like. He made Warrior and Sting look good, gave them the perfect polar opposite of their character.
🎵Walk through the curtain, stepping right on time. The girls won't admit it, but they know he's fine. Got something to say so listen up close. There he goes, taking off his robe. His body's chiseled as hard as a row. You'd think he was sculpted by Michelangelo. He's bold and he's cocky, he struts like a king. There's no way to stop the rude awakening. He's simply ravishing, he's happening, he knows that he's cool. All the girls go crazy, they don't know what to do. He'll steal your girl, break her heart and leave you a fool. He's simply ravishing, dazzling, ravishing rude.🎵
Rick Rude was my mom's favorite wrestler. She hated wrestling but insisted I call her into the room whenever Rick Rude was on tv. I was like 9 so I didn't get why she would like this bad guy.
Does Bischoff ever talk about the WCW video games? We all used to play WCW NWO World Tour, Virtual Pro Wrestling, WCW NWO Revenge (AKI/THQ) on N64 but then shifted to Wrestlemania 2000 (late 99) as all the WCW games afterwards sucked.
I am sure fans bring those games to get signed by all the wrestling personalities. With that said, it would be cool for EB to devote a bit of time talking about them.
He mentioned how big of a deal it was getting the $ / deal done to get one of them made on a previous podcast but I can’t remember which one it was, sorry! But he did seem aware of them as a nice source of revenue and exposure, and it seemed like he thought it was a cool thing. I wanna say it might have been in the middle of the bash at the beach hogan heel turn podcast but not sure
Conrad loves talking about Meltzer. Most of the guys he does these podcasts with can't stand Meltzer. Kinda funny. Conrad rides the Meltzer train hard 😂
Fascinating story about Eric getting Windham to act as an enforcer in case Rude tried anything. Barry's always regarded as a nice guy, a lady's man and a joker but I can imagine he could throw down when needed.
Rick Rude, Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage were three guys, that would have transitioned well into the New Generation Era for passing on the torch. Imagine matches against Bret, HBK, Mr. Perfect, Owen Hart, 123 Kid against those three. On top of that great story telling angles with Razor Ramon, Undertaker and others.
@@latonyapierce3236 same here since 1990 hes been my all time favorite. So many good memories he provided for my childhood. Lex will always be my all time favorite
Awww cmon guys, how do u have a pic with him with the us title and completely ignore the run. I was waiting to hear about his feuds with Steamboat, Nikita Koloff, Chono. See ya next week
Absolutely agree with Conrad about Iron Man matches unless they're action packed (Rock/Triple H Iron Man match I enjoyed). I know I'm in the minority but I've always felt the HBK/Hart Iron man match from Wrestlemania was torture to watch as basically nothing happened the entire match. Basically two guys laying down for an hour. It was up there with the worst early UFC fights (back before they had rounds with time limits) with just the overall lack of action.
Man. Rick Rude was a perfect WCW CHAMPION. It’s crazy to me because the roster was stacked in 93 - 94 time. Vader vs Rude at Slamboree would have bee been dope. But realistically even if he had not been hurt in Japan, Hulk Hogan would have cancelled him. Rick Rude is one of the GOATS.
Rude vs Vader drew a measly 4,000 people (and that's not even the paid attendance; that's the whole attendance incuding free tickets) in a wrestling hotbed like Philidelphia. Although it didn't happen, it surely didn't draw or sold PPVs. Spring Stampede (the PPV before Slamboree) drew a little over 12,000 and BatB 94 drew 14,000. Sorry, pal, Rude wasn't a draw.
Rick Rude Was Amazing In The 1980s And 1990s In WWF WCW And ECW 1991-1994 Is Rude’s Best Work If He Didn’t Injure His Back In Japan Against Sting It Was Going To Be Rick Rude VS Vader For The WCW International World Heavyweight Championship At Slamboree 1994 Unfortunately Hogan Also Came To WCW Around June/July 1994 So There Goes The Rick Rude Era Of WCW Rude’s Last PPV For WCW Was Spring Stampede 1994 Against Sting For The Title What A Life Of Wrestling Ive Seen All Of The 1980s To Now
there were essentially 4 guys keeping wcw alive during the 91-94 period...harlem heat, rude and vader...with the steiners and flair in and out during those years the aforementioned guys kept the ship afloat
@@freemind6954 barely made a difference...by 91 his gimmick was fading and had he not had rude as a rival he would have been a mid carder by then- if he had truly had value his title reign would have meant something to attendane- it didnt
You're a doofus....Flair was apart of it and Sting... the dangerous Allianee...you can even throw in Austin and Brian Pillman in there as the Hollywood blondes.
This was a derivative of the "Love Triangle" story- true, one of the 7 original Shakespearian stories. But it wasn't a "Romeo & Juliette" story because that isn't a love triangle story. Romeo & Juliette was "The boy from the other side of the tracks" story. So Bischoff was half right in that it is one of the 7 original stories, but he had the wrong one.
Fifi fudging around with Ric while she was married..well at least they had that in common...Will there ever be an episode of a Conrad show where he doesn't get a stiffy over Flair lol
I remember the sayings on his trucks but never put the likenesses of the women together. That lil tidbit was amazing. haha. i always just thought they were random pics of hot girls save for Jake's wife.
Scott Hall is the number 1 dude to never win a world championship belt. Nobody else is really close. I’m not saying this because he just passed away I’ve always thought this. He should’ve been the WWF champ as Razor. I understand that his addictions was probably the reason he didn’t get it in WCW.
WCW should have merged the world title belts before ditching the NWA. Once they called it the International title it got weird and it was the NWA title belt but it no longer had meaning. They could have just did a title vs title match and then moved on from the NWA.
Why is Rick Rude being World champion debatable? WCW had 2 world championships just like WWE has 2 now. If Rude reign doesn’t count so neither doesn’t Sting and Ric Flair. Flair isn’t a 16x World champ and John Cena has the most wins. Don’t play Rick Rude he’s a 3x World champion
Yeah want to get technical Flair had it over 20 times but wasn't let be known or depending which country he was in at the time wasn't known in the USA.
Yeah I don’t know what you are blathering about. I never said he was a draw, I said him and Vader would have been dope and I said I thought he was a good champion. I don’t care about what draws other people or about attendance numbers. #PAL

1992 was Rude's best year and his reign as U.S. Champion was one of the longest, if not longest of all time!

Rude fished the dam match, with top rope spots as well!
It’s BRUTAL!
Rude seemed like a straight forward, no bullshit kind of guy and Flair seems like a nothing but bullshit kinda guy - that's probably why they clashed.

Rick Rude was real funny…..Rest in Peace Rick Rude……
Would like to have seen Rude with the WWF strap once or twice. By today's standards, he would have been a 5-time WWE champ.
Better than anything they have.
But it wouldn't work for me brother
