I can’t lie. This was my favorite WCW PPV of all time, with slamboreee 98 coming in 2nd. Warrior coming back is one of my favorite all time moments. I thought the build to this was so FIRE!!
As much as Bischoff was mad because Ultimate Warrior went into business for himself on his debut promo. It was entertaining as hell. It gave range to the UW character. I laughed out loud when Warrior looked at the Disciple and said, "Who is this? Your barber?"
I don't know. It was entertaining for 2 or 3 minutes. Then it just got boring. It's like okay we know you're crazy and like to ramble incoherently for 20 minutes straight but you're in there with Hogan. Just Challenge him to a match and move on.
As a kid I loved HH98 lol I rented it from blockbuster like 50 times haha... seeing it again recently I see why its not good but I still love it, idk if its nostalgia or just missing wcw but I really dug it lol ( hogan vs warrior was trash but I thought that as a 7 yr old kid also lol)

Warrior in WcW was a train wreck... BUT he did say the coolest line in his entire history.. Talk to Hogan.. “You have never beaten a warrior!.... especially THE ULTIMATE ONE!!!!”
On the "Self-destruction of the Ultimate Warrior" DVD, Hogan and Bischoff say that they cringed at that line. Hogan said, "Well, then why would anyone want to see it?" I never understood Hogan's logic. The Warrior was a demon from Hogan's past.
Raven was a top guy in ECW and TNA in ECW for a while he really was there #1 guy, no one in WCW and WWE were capable of understanding his character and as a result he was stuck in the mid card and even worse in WWE
83 Weeks is the best podcast out there. I loved WCW, the good and the bad. The only thing I don't like is these shows make me remember how much I miss having it around.
The funniest thing I've seen in wrestling was Armad Johnson hitting Farooq in the back with a plank of wood in the Royal Rumble and Farooq giving a delayed shocked reaction like some had just stuck something up his arse
The Goldberg vs DDP match was probably one of if not the best match in WCW ever. Way ahead of it's time and a match people try to replicate nowadays (Brock vs Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33 was similiar.)
1:25:00 Conrad is taking Warrior's words out of context... Warrior was NOT "ranting and raving" about WCW. Warrior's words here are from Warrior's 2004 shoot interview (which Conrad conveniently doesn't mention).... hardly a case where Warrior "just can't wait to bury WCW". Warrior was ASKED many questions in his shoot which produced these answers, which Conrad misrepresented.
Makes sense why WCW failed..Eric’s answer throughout these pod casts is “I don’t remember, I wasn’t in the room when they booked that, I wasn’t involved with that as much, not my call.”
I loved the Jericho vs raven match. It's 1 of my favorite matches. That are very under rated like Booker T HHH at wrestlemania 19. I think nash walking out was done great he showed that the fight between the 2 former best friends was more important than the win. He got his point across to Hall & Hall still got his hand raised. & the diamond cutter was very over I'd argue the stone cold stunner if anything. But I'd still go with the cutter.
He said theyd lost the wheels creatively. What about sting vs warrior? Bret vs Hogan at starrcade. Goldberg vs sting (with no interference!) Wcw had potential. Wargames 98 could've been Hogan, warrior, savage, bret vs sting, luger, ddp, flair. That's wwf vs wcw dream from a few years before.
“ hey guys we might run over our time slot for the PPV, we need to cut some things down.” “ get rid of that hogan-warrior match, we don’t really need to see that.” “ good thinking, you’ve just saved us.”
1:24:00 Bischoff completely dodge Ultimate Warrior’s reason for him being ghosted after the Halloween Havoc match. Bischoff said in Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior, that he tried to negotiate with Warrior on renewing his contract but said Warrior wanted too much money.
This show works fantastic for my favorite time ever in wrestling, The Attitude Era! Great team!" Eric is a class act all around. He is hilarious and calls it as he sees it! I will be going to see them with my friends. I was a police officer in the 90s at the time and worked the event at the then Patriot Center In Fairfax VA. WCW was a class act always. No one ever drew heat like Eric or Jim Cornette as managers!
After hearing all crap for so many years on Hogan/Warrior H. H. match, I watched it again with fresh eyes. Have to say its not that bad, what more were they expecting!! And all the shaboogle, fire and chair shot and shit makes it more entertaining. I GIVE IT A 3 OF 5 STAR..
It deserves one star out of 10, and only because of the two legends involved… the match itself was among the worst EVER that didn’t involve an outside celebrity,
Eric is full of it here, of COURSE hogan vs bret wouldve been better for everyone but hogan wanted to even the score with the warrior, so he got what he wanted and helped further ruin wcw in the process
Why bret got ruined was Hogan knew he couldn't have a 20 minute match with hart and because he couldn't hang with bret people would've gotten behind bret and that wouldn't have worked for him brother, smh. Thanks Eric and Hogan should have stopped sniffing Hogan jock

The Television title DID mean something when Booker T or Lord Steven Regal had it. And I bet they were proud to have it. Please don't diminish the TV belt.
Warrior was an interesting character. And egos aside, it could have been portrayed properly. The same goes for Sting, but apparently, there were professionals at the helm...
The Warrior's run in WCW was underrated and while Hogan Warrior 2 did not live up to the hype I did not hate this match or Warrior as a powerful foe against the nWo. I enjoy crazy, fun, funny, over the top wrestling. Warrior's ratings were high for a reason and I was baffled when he was randomly gone. Also, my growing annoyance with this show is that Eric is starting to embrace Conrad and Meltzer's standards which are boring and snobbish. Dave Meltzer's tastes are irrelevant to me.
What Metzler, Conrad and the rest of the wrestling universe dont understand is the Hogan/Warrior angle was way over with the preteen audience. The ppv payoff was never going to be great because the biggest targeted audience wouldnt be able to order the show.
Conrad wants to know if he's related to the Hulk. Well when Hulk did the leg drop not many people kicked out. If Conrad did the leg drop nobody would kick out and no one would get up again. I can safely say there is a family link here.
I was never a big wcw fan but I did watch it. I Missed 97-98 though. There was just something about it at the time I didn't like. Looking back though, I have a lot of love for it.
The aftermath of this even shows just how lost Bischoff had become. You had a well-received bout in Goldberg/DDP, with WWF having younger stars and now beating you in the ratings here is your chance to give the audience something fresh moving forward. So what does WCW do? Has Goldberg lose at their biggest PPV to Nash, who loses it in the infamous match vs Hogan on Nitro, who then defends against Flair at the next PPV. What a perfect way to counter the WWF, put all the old guys back in the spotlight.
I didn't have a problem with Nash over Goldberg. Because it set up a huge 1999 with Goldberg raging and getting his title back. The fingerpoke of doom derailed ALL of that potential/momentum.
Yeah, my only problem with Nash going over was that it was at the biggest show, Starrrcade. They had already screwed up before with the fast count Sting-Hogan match a year earlier at this PPV, so I think it was a mistake to have another main event where the main star does not go over clean
I don't think dropping the strap to Nash was necessarily wrong he was the most over behind sting who was out and Goldberg who was losing steam. What they did the next night on nitro with the finger poke of doom was a travesty giving it to flair was equally bad but they were lost at that point.
We all know they never wanted it to work go back and look up some of the old warrior shoot interviews. They only brought The Warrior character back because Hulk Hogan wanted his win back 😒🙄. They could of done so much with guys like Warrior or Hart another guy Hogan got to come into WCW to bury 🤬🤬.
I was at the skydome for Hogan and warrior at mania 6. When WCW did Warrior vs Hogan 2, I knew right away it wasn't going to be the same. It was WCW to begin with, and it sealed the deal for me when warrior did his 5 hour promo on nitro . I was hoping for the best, and was excited for that card, and well, we all know what happened...blah
Went to a WCW house show at the Ft.Pierce Civic center around this time and some woman wanted me to let her kids have our ringside seats. Sorry babe , no couldn't do. It was a hot time in wrestling.
I really enjoy the show, but a commercial every 5 minutes makes it tough to just let it play while I'm doing stuff around the house. Today took the cake by interrupting a COMMERCIAL with a COMMERCIAL
It's Coming Home The Diamond Cutter was much better! DDP got much more creative with the move than Stone Cold did with the Stunner. I think DDP is the most underrated wrestler of the Monday Night Wars! He doesn’t get half as much credit as he deserves!
I don't know. The diamond cutter was HUGE in 98. I'd argue it was at least tied with the stunner. And to me, ddp reversing the jackhammer into the diamond cutter was my most favorite wrestling moment of the attitude era.
ya thats pretty weird tbh, if you look at general consensus. Especially weird if you compare WWE's 98 roster which included the rock and steve austin, possibly the two biggest stars to ever emerge from pro wrestling...
Hulk Hogan,Macho Man,Rick Flair,Bret Hart,Sting,Hall,Nash,Warrior,Eddie,Chris Benoit,The Big Show back then "The Giant",Dusty Rhodes,Terry Funk ,DDP,Goldberg,Y2J Literally 1998 kicks the shit out of WWF 1998 with Austin,Rock,Taker,Kane Rookie Angle,Man Kind WCW's roster eats them alive!
@@jrdoo7x it wasn't just Austin you had the greatest heel of all time in Mr. McMahon. That feud alone carried WWE. The rest of the roster had some good stuff but that feud was the golden goose.
Instead of the matches how about cutting out the 5 Nitro girls segmants (why have them on PPV?) or the Konnan video which would have been better debuted on Nitro so more people could see it? That's like 15-20 minutes right there. Sure Saturn vs Lodi or Meng vs Wrath could have been cut but not before those wastes of time.
Again, Hogan and Warrior get shit of for that mirror angle, yet Undertaker and Kane have done FAR more ridiculous shit over the years and nobody criticizes just how stupid that was.
Legit, I agree. I didn't like anything involving Taker in 1999 back then and I don't now. Mysticism in wrestling to me is beyond retarded. But yet people get at me for fanboying for Biker Taker and Corporate Kane, which were much more realistic gimmicks. I'm beyond done.
Can Eric ever give a normal fucking answer to anything !? Jesus!....everything he responds to takes 45 min of blabbering! Get to the the point for F sake! I will miss him though, that’s what made him so hilarious
And his protection over Hogan. The Hart and Sting is a slow burn.. to say the least but the ending picks up and pops higher than at any moment during Hogan vs Warrior and Eric still says “it’s not hogans fault”, “warrior was difficult to work with a lot of people”
Before the stunner, the diamond cutter was much, much over. It's probably the most over finish ever to be honest, at least an argument could be made for that.
@@SmithCommaBenjamin nah...I know jake's DDT was more over than both....Cause people actually chanted "DDT"....actually, The stunner and cutter were bot like the ddt's ,moves that can be done to everybody and could come quick from anywhere

I don't think dropping the strap to Nash was necessarily wrong he was the most over behind sting who was out and Goldberg who was losing steam. What they did the next night on nitro with the finger poke of doom was a travesty giving it to flair was equally bad but they were lost at that point.
Nash should’ve been a baby face champ and you would’ve had a rock Austin type of angle With two mega over faces. Maybe that could’ve happened.

That Bret Hart attempted murder spot....
I'm suffering from insomnia, but Bischoff cured that. Thanks, dude!
Skip to the end then hit replay
I miss rhe HALLOWEEN HAVOC set and ring. Kind of wish WWE would incorporate HALLOWEEN HAVOC with HELL IN A CELL special event
Everybody knows the Stunner was the most over move in 1998
It's Coming Home The Diamond Cutter was much better! DDP got much more creative with the move than Stone Cold did with the Stunner. I think DDP is the most underrated wrestler of the Monday Night Wars!
He doesn’t get half as much credit as he deserves!
Really? I thought Warrior's left armed clotheslines were more over in '98.
I don't know. The diamond cutter was HUGE in 98. I'd argue it was at least tied with the stunner. And to me, ddp reversing the jackhammer into the diamond cutter was my most favorite wrestling moment of the attitude era.
You mean disco inferno's chart buster?
How funny is it that he did the move before Stone Cold?
@@antology7 Mee too most insane move ever could of been over in 01 and kept wcw alive with warrior vs 3 count .. good damnit
lol @ Eric's defense of Disco "hes entertaining, that's what its all about!"....SO ARE GIMMICK MATCHES
I can't unhear Scott Holic
I can't wait till they get to erics tna run
When talking about Disco being under appreciated you needed to mix the word bro in every sentence.
SO WAS KEVIN SULLIVAN IN CHARGE? It's always Kevin
Lmao conrad is gold,,,"are their drugs going on here...."
Love the show
Honest to god I love Warriors time in WCW and Bretts i'm just a weird person I guess. WCW's 1998 Roster BEST ROSTER in WRESTLING HISTORY!
ya thats pretty weird tbh, if you look at general consensus.
Booker T.... Rick and Scott Stiener... new Japan's stars.... Mexico's ENTIRE ROSTER! ...
The problem for wcw is the wwf at the time had the biggest star in pro wrestling stone cold Steve Austin.
People criticize Kane's history all the time
36:20 is when the show starts
Can Eric ever give a normal fucking answer to anything !? Jesus!....everything he responds to takes 45 min of blabbering! Get to the the point for F sake! I will miss him though, that’s what made him so hilarious
And his protection over Hogan. The Hart and Sting is a slow burn.. to say the least but the ending picks up and pops higher than at any moment during Hogan vs Warrior and Eric still says “it’s not hogans fault”, “warrior was difficult to work with a lot of people”
World tour huh, so when you comin to Australia?
I remember Raven,p, he had Kidman, Saturn, he had that swat team to protect him for a time lol. Ravens rules matches
When is Hogan gonna guest on one of these shows? Don't act like you can't do it, Easy E
No the stone cold stunner was the most over finish at the time.
@@benashworth2278 people didn't chant Diamond Cutter. But they did make the gesture with their hands
@@SmithCommaBenjamin oh, it was over...hell, the people's elbow might have been more over than all of them..
Goldberg...spear...jackhammer. still amazing to rewatch him Jackhammer the Giant.
