Eric is full of it here, of COURSE hogan vs bret wouldve been better for everyone but hogan wanted to even the score with the warrior, so he got what he wanted and helped further ruin wcw in the process
Why bret got ruined was Hogan knew he couldn't have a 20 minute match with hart and because he couldn't hang with bret people would've gotten behind bret and that wouldn't have worked for him brother, smh. Thanks Eric and Hogan should have stopped sniffing Hogan jock

The aftermath of this even shows just how lost Bischoff had become. You had a well-received bout in Goldberg/DDP, with WWF having younger stars and now beating you in the ratings here is your chance to give the audience something fresh moving forward. So what does WCW do? Has Goldberg lose at their biggest PPV to Nash, who loses it in the infamous match vs Hogan on Nitro, who then defends against Flair at the next PPV. What a perfect way to counter the WWF, put all the old guys back in the spotlight.
I didn't have a problem with Nash over Goldberg. Because it set up a huge 1999 with Goldberg raging and getting his title back. The fingerpoke of doom derailed ALL of that potential/momentum.
Yeah, my only problem with Nash going over was that it was at the biggest show, Starrrcade. They had already screwed up before with the fast count Sting-Hogan match a year earlier at this PPV, so I think it was a mistake to have another main event where the main star does not go over clean
I don't think dropping the strap to Nash was necessarily wrong he was the most over behind sting who was out and Goldberg who was losing steam. What they did the next night on nitro with the finger poke of doom was a travesty giving it to flair was equally bad but they were lost at that point.
We all know they never wanted it to work go back and look up some of the old warrior shoot interviews. They only brought The Warrior character back because Hulk Hogan wanted his win back 😒🙄. They could of done so much with guys like Warrior or Hart another guy Hogan got to come into WCW to bury 🤬🤬.
Conrad wants to know if he's related to the Hulk. Well when Hulk did the leg drop not many people kicked out. If Conrad did the leg drop nobody would kick out and no one would get up again. I can safely say there is a family link here.
Before the stunner, the diamond cutter was much, much over. It's probably the most over finish ever to be honest, at least an argument could be made for that.
@@SmithCommaBenjamin nah...I know jake's DDT was more over than both....Cause people actually chanted "DDT"....actually, The stunner and cutter were bot like the ddt's ,moves that can be done to everybody and could come quick from anywhere
The Warrior's run in WCW was underrated and while Hogan Warrior 2 did not live up to the hype I did not hate this match or Warrior as a powerful foe against the nWo. I enjoy crazy, fun, funny, over the top wrestling. Warrior's ratings were high for a reason and I was baffled when he was randomly gone. Abruptly dropping a story like this was as nonsensical as the New Blood Millionaires Club story randomly being dropped. Also, my growing annoyance with this show is that Eric is starting to embrace Conrad and Meltzer's standards which are boring and snobbish. Dave Meltzer's tastes are irrelevant to me.
WCW definitely botched Ultimate Warrior's presence there. The fan responses to Warrior were HUGE as always, and they could've done a lot more with him, both in his Hogan feud and otherwise. Just understand: Hogan, Warrior, Savage, Sting, Goldberg, and Bret Hart were ALL on the WCW roster at the same time.
I really enjoy the show, but a commercial every 5 minutes makes it tough to just let it play while I'm doing stuff around the house. Today took the cake by interrupting a COMMERCIAL with a COMMERCIAL
Goldberg vs Diamond Dallas Page was a good match. Not surprised that Page nailed the match down to a T. He was such a pro that wanted to make sure we went home happy. Also I think Eric wouldn't admit it but the reason why he brought in Ultimate Warrior to WCW was that Hogan's ego was damaged by the fact that he had to job to the Warrior at Wrestlemania 6 that this is the change to fix it. It felt like to me with Hogan vs Warrior 2, it was about rewriting the history of Wrestlemania 6 but Hogan look good. This event showed how lost and polticial bishoff was in WCW. You had the best match Goldberg vs DDP that 95% of the people didn't see due to shit hitting the fan with timing but it was preceded by Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior 2 the worst match ever. If Bishoff didn't like Raven, why was he on the cover of the WCW vs NWO Revenge Video game then. You would think that stars like Hogan Nash and Hall would be on it. This is what I like about the show, Eric is honest and at least he can admit he fucked up at times. Its interesting to hear his thoughts 20 years later on this event.
DDP was notorious for the detail with which he planned his matches ahead of time. I'm sure he put a lot of thought into this one, especially since it was his first major main event.
Went to a WCW house show at the Ft.Pierce Civic center around this time and some woman wanted me to let her kids have our ringside seats. Sorry babe , no couldn't do. It was a hot time in wrestling.
Gotta tell ya the first time they locked up in WWF and warrior kicked out the Leg Drop my head almost exploded and I watched it on VHS so I already knew Warrior won and my shit still almost popped off LoL!! Anyway that match wasn't too bad for a match where both dudes aren't known for being the beat fucking workers ever but they actually did a good job in my Opinion, but this match in "98 was just the drizzling shhiitsszzz!!!!!

Wayne Clark x
I don't think dropping the strap to Nash was necessarily wrong he was the most over behind sting who was out and Goldberg who was losing steam. What they did the next night on nitro with the finger poke of doom was a travesty giving it to flair was equally bad but they were lost at that point.
Nash should’ve been a baby face champ and you would’ve had a rock Austin type of angle With two mega over faces. Maybe that could’ve happened.
I love this show!!!
Conrad with the “wtf is this” 😂😂😂😂
We should have learned from David Flair not to push family into hot angles.
10 years later, "hey Garrett, want referee the main even match on PPV?"
That Bret Hart attempted murder spot....
I miss rhe HALLOWEEN HAVOC set and ring. Kind of wish WWE would incorporate HALLOWEEN HAVOC with HELL IN A CELL special event
Conrad wants to know if he's related to the Hulk. Well when Hulk did the leg drop not many people kicked out. If Conrad did the leg drop nobody would kick out and no one would get up again. I can safely say there is a family link here.
lol @ Eric's defense of Disco "hes entertaining, that's what its all about!"....SO ARE GIMMICK MATCHES
That head lock 🤣🤣
No the stone cold stunner was the most over finish at the time.
@@benashworth2278 people didn't chant Diamond Cutter. But they did make the gesture with their hands
@@SmithCommaBenjamin oh, it was over...hell, the people's elbow might have been more over than all of them..
Goldberg...spear...jackhammer. still amazing to rewatch him Jackhammer the Giant.
This is awesome
My eyebrows are burnin brother brother ahhhh brother oh shit brother ahhhhhhh!
I can't unhear Scott Holic
I can't wait till they get to erics tna run
Great show.
When talking about Disco being under appreciated you needed to mix the word bro in every sentence.
Warrior in WCW was awesome!! They should of put him in a feud against Goldberg and then DDP and then after that against Sting.
2019 BlueChew going strong Brother! 😎
DDP GOLDBERG Enough SAID!!!.
Jericho/Raven was my favorite match of the night.
I really enjoy the show, but a commercial every 5 minutes makes it tough to just let it play while I'm doing stuff around the house. Today took the cake by interrupting a COMMERCIAL with a COMMERCIAL
Skip to the end then hit replay
"IT'S FUCKING DAYTIME ERIC!!!"
Get over your bullshit postulations about ego....Warrior screwed himself over, due to having an even bigger ego than Hogan.
I think the Revenge cover has a Representative of each faction. Raven for The Flock, Hogan for NWO, Nash for The Wolfpac and Goldberg for WCW.
I remember being a kid and watching ddp turn the jackhammer into the diamond cutter. So epic
Easy E our guy in the NWO🇩🇪🇩🇪🤩
36:20 is when the show starts
Can't listen to this on app. Amount of ads are insane
I remember Raven,p, he had Kidman, Saturn, he had that swat team to protect him for a time lol. Ravens rules matches
Love the show
Lmao conrad is gold,,,"are their drugs going on here...."
Goldberg's best match?
Best one that I've seen.
Not a lot of guys could have a good match that lasted longer than 5 minutes with Goldberg.
DDP was notorious for the detail with which he planned his matches ahead of time. I'm sure he put a lot of thought into this one, especially since it was his first major main event.
Hall and Nash should of been a way bigger deal than it was. Breaking up the outsiders is a big deal
Went to a WCW house show at the Ft.Pierce Civic center around this time and some woman wanted me to let her kids have our ringside seats. Sorry babe , no couldn't do. It was a hot time in wrestling.
Main Event was awesome.
Yes I’m doing it now mate 😂
Gotta tell ya the first time they locked up in WWF and warrior kicked out the Leg Drop my head almost exploded and I watched it on VHS so I already knew Warrior won and my shit still almost popped off LoL!! Anyway that match wasn't too bad for a match where both dudes aren't known for being the beat fucking workers ever but they actually did a good job in my Opinion, but this match in "98 was just the drizzling shhiitsszzz!!!!!
Warrior didn't kick out of the leg drop during their WWF match. Hogan missed the leg drop and then Warrior delivered his finish for the win.
