I have the same boat, but I put a 15hp 2 stroke yamaha on it. It's rated for 10hp but the 15 is MONEY!!! the 2 stroke 15 hp is about the same weight of a 10hp 4 stroke. PS: great video and mods. I don't have the know how or skill to mod my gheenoe like you. Fabulous job.
Congratulations on success of all the nice upgrades. I’m seeing quite a bit of aviation sheet metal influence here- camlocs, nice countersunk rivet & screw work, general attention to detail. Great job, sir!
The foot rest helps the front passenger relax but what is really relaxing is seeing the you have plenty of extra shells for your shotgun handy. Great details!
I really like the stern work you did. Covering the top at the rub rail is a great way to deflect any water that might want to ruin your day, from a runaway wave cracking over the stern. I'm going to try that but take it up to the bench with a hinge across the mid point and a lip to deflect any water that makes it that far. And the drawer, of course. Awesome job on your 15.4!
Very well done! I'm a canoe man myself and have always liked the gheenoes. Your ability to fabricate anything blows me away! I'd love to do some fishing from that boat!
I just got an old river hawk and was looking to see how other people had these types of boats setup. I appreciate you explaining everything that you did in this video.
wonderful workmanship. appreciate the history and pride shown of your area. well done. love all the details. great ideas to implement. thank you. i only wish i had your skills. well done and enjoy it.
Good video , I grew up in Maurice and graduated from Acadiana high been in Florida since 86 and Your vid made me homesick :) I have a 15'4 but it aint near as fancy as yours , you did a great job raised the bar for me to get off my butt and do some upgrades myself.
Man, you done made me tired just thinking about all that work! Lol What a cool rig! The small fabrication touches all over the boat is something to be proud of.
I'm in Youngsville, LA. Just took my 15-4 Highsider to Cocodrie and caught a limit of speckled trout. I ran 50 miles in the marsh on one trip. Love your setup..
Man I would love to follow you one day and do that. I enjoy going in the back of Lafayette airport. Some beautiful cypress trees at least 200 years old back there. There are 9 foot cypress knees back there. Thanks for the comment.
Nice job on your boat. Just bought the same model... Going to use some of your ideas.. Thanks Phil.... Love you come and fish and visit the bayou... Home is in Lake Butler Florida... Phil...
Great build. I had the same boat but I put a Yamaha 20hp on it. I could do 25 mph in it. I found it a bit tipsy with that motor, battery, and a 6 gallon tank all in the rear of the boat. I sold it and got a Santee 16 foot boat. It is perfect with that motor because the transom is a lot wider. I can get it up to around 28 mph with one person. I use it more than I use my Ranger!! It is the perfect set up for around Lafayette.
Wow thats cool. I always enjoy videos of clean boat work. And the fun thing with small craft like that is the sky is the limit. You came up with some amazing designs and I am really impressed with your thought process. Great job!
Nice man! I live in Breaux Bridge and got myself a gheenoe. Use it for bowfishing and solo fishing trips. I go up and down the vermilion on mine on a nice day and get lunch at Vermilionville. You'll probably see my truck with my boat in the bed. Great boat
Great job Shannon! Well planned. I'm from Lafayette (all my family still lives there) and I moved to Florida 12 years ago and was introduced to Gheenoes. So many folks use them here. They even put poling platforms on some of the ones who fish the shallow flats. You can look through my videos and check out a tunnel hull Jon boat I made with road signs! Cajun ingenuity at it's finest! Lol
Some great ideas. Gheen Manufacturing should come out with a version like you made. The Rambo Gheenoe. Im' in the process of redoing mine. Thanks for sharing.
Epic boat build man. The attention to detail is great. You got some really innovative features really set up for your environment perfectly.I love that you've got three pistols and obviously a shotgun on board haha. Just another day in south Louisiana. I will probably be using some of your ideas on my next build.like the cup holders the reinforcements everywhere the extra rivets and the use of that small space in the front for the battery. Thanks a lot
GREAT WORK SHANNON! AWSOME video!! Sharing it on L & L Marine’s DeFuniak Springs Florida page this morning along with my personal page. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
That was an awesome video and I’m definitely getting one of these boats...And you did a really awesome job on that boat...Deep respect from Tennessee to Louisiana :)
Sweet setup. Got the same 15’4”. Awesome ideas. How did you secure the base plate for your seats for support. I did not see any rivets or screws. I agree. They are not to stout without adding something. Thanks.
I used some flush blind rivets. I had to countersink the .063 aluminum, that's why they are hard to see. Before i installed the doubler i used the right stuff and then installed. I was able to get some squeeze out and cleaned it up after installation and sealed the edges after.
I really enjoy your video, nice modifications is like a gheenoe on steroids, the gun compartment is a super idea, I'm working on a small boat for peakcok bass fishing in Puerto Rico and your boat is a small fishing machine.
Sir.. The engeering is second to none. Amazing. If i may ask: how are those glued cleats holding up? I am thinking of using that product, but i am skeptical on longevity. Cheers mate.
wow you packed so much stuff in that canoe than i thought possible i was gonna by a kayak but seeing yours im getting one , now have you thought of using solar power on the canoe to charge your battery's and all the equipment on it ive seen others do it thanks for the vid best one so far
A man after my own heart, I too am like you, do it once and do it right. I always overkill it a little (sometimes a lot). When you redesign / enforce things that eliminates any weakness on any product. Love your setup. Good luck with it. Oh yea, have you ever seen a bigfoot (I know you guys have a different name, same creature)? Just asking due to the firearms, lol.
What kind of wood did you use to build your Battery base with? Did you just paint it or what did you seal it with? Getting ready to work on my Gheenoe this weekend and next. I have it stripped down, I have to clean it and get ready to paint after I make my cutouts for Bilge, switch panel, and shark eye Nav lights. Going Redleg Camo Natural gear for duck hunting.
You’ve managed to change a plain ole Gheenoe into a work of art. Outstanding craftsmanship as well as thoughtfulness.
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Man when you pulled out that drawer from the stern, I completely lost it! Great job!!
Thanks
Blueprints??? Best Gheenoe build I've seen, ever!!! I want to do that to mine!!!
I agree
BEST GHEENOE EVER!
That would be perfect for here in the Florida Everglades too!
A year later, still one of the best jobs ever! Hats off.
One of the finest adventure boats I’ve ever seen.
Thanks
Most Cajun accent I’ve heard in years. Thanks for the video.
Lafayette native here. Great shots of the Vermilion River. Best Gheenoe modifications I’ve ever seen. Well done
Thanks

That might be the nicest little pirogue I've ever seen. :) I might have to ditch the kayak for one of these. Great video.
See now this here is exactly what I want in a small boat. Perfect.
I really like the stern work you did. Covering the top at the rub rail is a great way to deflect any water that might want to ruin your day, from a runaway wave cracking over the stern. Cajun engineering at its finest brother
Thanks
Very nice boat it's got your personality all in it is one of a kind
My question is why did you use a Mercury instead of a small Mud Motor?
You're a beast! Making us look good down here in LA. Good luck this season.
Thanks man.
That was an awesome video and I’m definitely getting one of these boats...And you did a really awesome job on that boat...Deep respect from Tennessee to Louisiana :)

Thanks so much. Good luck with your video i am anxious to see.
Love the boat. I have tried to look for the easy clip on led lights with no success. Where did you get yours
Great work looks like you took a lot of pride in your work,Kermit Myers from Lafayette.
I really enjoy your video, nice modifications is like a gheenoe on steroids, the gun compartment is a super idea, I'm working on a small boat for peakcok bass fishing in Puerto Rico and your boat is a small fishing machine.
Thanks so much.
Pretty cool mods, you’d be way happier with the classic, a lot more stable
Great job on your build.
Great job on the boat and the video. If that’s your friends real name he hit the jackpot.
LOL. Thanks
Wow. He knows his stuff and should be a designer for ‘must work’ survival boats. Canada would like these too but might have to remove the guns :=)
Thanks
Thanks
Great looking boat!
Thanks
Sir.. The engeering is second to none. Amazing. If i may ask: how are those glued cleats holding up? I am thinking of using that product, but i am skeptical on longevity. Cheers mate.
Man what great work! Subbed!
Thanks

Thats a bad ass gheenoe!!
Thanks
Piękne wykonanie łódki , ale czy wysoka pozycja siedzeń nie zaburza stateczności podczas pływania ?
What kind of wood did you use to build your Battery base with? Did you just paint it or what did you seal it with?
Getting ready to work on my Gheenoe this weekend and next. I have it stripped down, I have to clean it and get ready to paint after I make my cutouts for Bilge, switch panel, and shark eye Nav lights. Going Redleg Camo Natural gear for duck hunting.
I used 3/4 inch ply wood primed and painted it before I bonded it in place with the right stuff. Thanks for watching
Wonder if he still has the Gheenoe and his thoughts about it now
Sir, that is outstanding!!!!
Thanks so much.
My dad had a gheenoe. I loved that boat. Surprisingly it had more room then my 13 ft whaler lol. Go figure
thanks for watching
Dats some nice pirot ya got der. Gonna put me on one a dose mud long tails on mine. Bon temps!
Great video and awesome build! What kind of jack plate are you using?
