The reason why this music video has so many views is that many people are deeply shocked and moved when they see this music video after watching the first episode of the anime "Oshi no ko". True, but she’s clearly focusing on the vocals in this video rather than the song as a whole so she’s rightfully focusing on Ikura. Her only mistake is not realizing that YOASOBI is the group name but the reference to "her" isn’t a mistake because she’s clearly only referring to her.

Broken English on : I don't know anything at all about music. technically speaking. but I really love how you "break down" and analyze the singer, and the song, using a normal vocabulary so the explanation can reach even to non english native users like me. Thank you very much. ⛩ and for being fan of (Off topic) Ado. That was my motive to arrive here.
Hope you read this as to answer your questions. The 'hiccuppy' fry at the end of lines, according to one jp composer who reviewed the song, is a trend among underground idols who tried to incorporate the kpop music structure, which includes rap breaks almost all the time. Rap is basically in its infancy in Japan. There are rapperd here and there but its probably nicher than indie music in japan. Yoasobi is actually a result of competition. The duo were formed by Sony Japan and entered a website competition about composing songs from a collection of short stories. The song Yoru ni Kakeru won. Then it viralled during the pandemic and catapulted them to stardom.
i first heard of this song like a couple of months ago, i heard this song is top no.1 in the chart for a long time. i was just curious. so i pull out the mv. holy shit. its a banger, yet so complex. usually an overly complex songs would only produce noise, like an abstract painting, but not this, this actually sounds really really good even for easy listener. it tells a story, like each part is a different scene, its extremely fast pace, yet sometimes slowing down, with several key changes not to mention different tones and intonations. i was like, what's going on in this composer's head. its crazy. my first thought, this is not a song that you can just willy nilly sing, oh buddy this is gonna be very very hard to sing live. then i come across to this exact incredible performance. talking about her vocal ability, im pretty sure you know more about it, she's like a vocalist with so many arsenals up her sleeves. she's literally "acting" while singing. pitch precision, breathing technique, and many others. i thought she's definitely a well experienced singer. then i look her up. to my surprise. she was only 23yo. started her singing career when she barely graduated highschool. what do you say to that if not talent? and of course immense training, and im pretty sure its not only about vocal, she definitely also train to be a great frontman. while doing this whole thing, she also has time to release her own album. man.. she's just.. impressive. its just.. how? really. how? how do someone able to create a song like this. its genius. and how she can sing it this perfect, whats going on here, like how the gears inside her brain able to process this perfectly for us to listen. its just.. how? with the composer creative talent, and her singing ability. im excited to see them grow. they're shooting straight to the top, im sure.
(Machine translation) Hiccupy in this song is so distinctive that a Japanese person of a certain age would immediately think, "Oh, that's an idol's singing style. It reminds me of the way Japanese idols of the 80's (Seiko Matsuda, Kyoko Koizumi, and many others) sang. In those days, when idols were really idols and were a sanctuary, maybe that way of vocalizing was considered cute in Japan. Katriinka-san is right, the similarity of the "cute" speaking style of voice actors may be originally influenced by that culture.
Almost every singing vtuber in the entire world is releasing their own cover of this song. If you wanted to do a stream to react to them, to contrast different people's takes on it, that could be fun.
YOASOBI is really talented and this song is something else! Your point about the Japanese voice acting is so true. To me, Japanese pop music's embrace of complex and experimental elements stands them apart from the rest of the world.
YOU GOTTA REACT TO KIKOUHANA!!Kikou is a famous vocaloid producer and hanatan is a quite known singer THEIR SO GOOD AND YOULL LOVE HANATANS VOCALS THEIR IMPRESSIVE
What I like the most about this song is that as forgeiner the struture of lyrics did not imidiately open to me. Then I saw cover where the different characters where difrentiated in cover video. There is interviewer the idol and then jealous/fan or coworker . And when you difrentiate who is talking at what point it's so much more aproachaple and undesrtandable for me.
So, anyone else see this song actually having a role in the show besides it's opening? I can so see it making it's way in universe as a tribute song for Ai sung by Ruby. Bonus points if it's written by Aqua after he finds out everything he wants to about Ai and if he actually able to get "justice"
Every part of the song points to it being Ai.the part after the op in oshi no ko ends, refers to the idol-mates of Ai in the previous B-komachi where they talk behind her back, the part where the singer mentions aqua and ruby (which means that Ai is the only other person that is possible to sing it), Ep1 spoilers: The last line of Idol are the last words of Ai(reversed) But most importantly in the MV Ai is the one that is like the MC
I loved this breakdown! Sad I found out this channel too late T-T Here's another perspective: I feel like idol leans more in the "chants" genre than a "song" genre. For example, the chorus melody itself has a minor tone if you lay it out on a paper with lots of emphasis on la, do, and mi. The song sounding happy and bright feels like it's all from the the consonants/pronunciation/tone/tempo, disguising the original sad/disturbing melody. Yoasobi only relies on vowels when the singer(ikura) wants to portray the true emotion. This ties into how ikura uses a lot of speech quality throughout the song. All the standard vocalizing techniques (like flipping back and forth between chest and mixed) seem like they were used to make this song an extension of this speech quality into a melody, and I'm confused if I should be approaching this song with more of a singing mindset or a rapping mindset.
I know you meant ikura but I’m case you didn’t know , Yoasobi is a duo. The guy wearing the white-Chromish shirt on stage is Ayase - the producer - he writes the songs for the duo and some other stuff. Ikura is the lady singing .
I saw a lot of japanese can't even sing this song straight. It stops at very awkward moments, you can't sing it unless you're very familiar with it. It's like a song made into a fast poem. The story telling was superbly done tho, it's really deep too.
Thank you for uploading. Recent anime music is very closely related to Vocalo P and vocalo's Utaite. Such as this. Yoasobi : (Oshinoko OP ”IDOL” vocalist. Ayase vocaloP and Ikura (Rira Ikuta) vocalo's utaite) Ado : (One-piece film red insert songs vocalist. vocalo's Utaite) Tatsuya Kitani : (Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd season OP "Aono Sumika" lyrics, composition, vocalist. Vocalo P) Karasu Yasabo, (Oshinoko Vol3 character songs, lyrics, composition. Vocalo P) Kenshi Yonezu : (Chainsaw Man OP "KICK BACK" lyrics, composition, vocalist. Vocalo P. Co-arranged by King Gnu and Daiki Tsuneta.) etc.
This song is written by Ayase who is a fan of the manga Osinoko. He used to write songs as a hobby. It seems that there was an offer from an animation production company later. Ayase became an idol for Iura during the recording She told me to pretend and sing.
Another interesting thing about the song, especially the "rap" part, is when she uses the rhymes in "ai". That's just a theory from me, but given that the lyrics mention the fact that the other members of B-Komachi are jealous of Ai (the central character of the series), it stands to reason that you always hear her name, hence the "ai" coming every line.
That's pretty common for professionals tbh, also given the fact that they might've already familiarised themselves with how to sing these songs ever since recording them in studios
Great analysis! That Rode microphone is very sensitive and sounds amazing! Does your room have to be modified for your microphone? I tried different microphones last year and one picked up the neighbors dog drinking water outside the window that had foam in it.
If you have a condenser mic (like the rode in the vid) in a noisy environment, room modification is definitely a must, because condensers pick up sound from *everywhere* so *easily* What mic are you currently using if you dont mind?
@@dryelene I liked it. There’s a high pass filter built in. There’s a table top stand that is very heavy and solid but I was using a boom arm so I could dial in the best position for the microphone. I didn’t know the polar pattern of the microphone so I thought the boom arm was a better option. I don’t have a good voice, but I wasn’t singing or anything. I was recording in a spare bedroom that was converted to a home office so the room’s acoustics weren’t tuned. I had recorded a few friends doing narration and the sound quality was consistent although their voices were much better than mine. I was using DaVinci Resolve to edit and I could goose the bass and trim the highs on my audio and it had a full sound. It’s funny, when it comes to video people will watch a low resolution video if the audio is good but they won’t watch a high resolution video if the audio is bad.
YOASOBI is a duel of Ikura and the producer Ayase both are equally good at singing and songwriting but you should really check out Ayase's other songs my recc is Ghost City Tokyo feat the vocaloid Hatsune miku i personally love Ayase's covers they're also good :3

Probably the best reaction and analysis to 'Idol' Live Performance 👏💖

You know, whenever I hear your voice when you try to explain something in the songs it makes me want to hear your voice in a whole song. I knew you first from your reactions to stray kids and with every video the urge to wanting to hear your voice in a cover song get stronger and stronger 😮💨🔥it doesn’t matter if it was a song of my favorite artist I just want to hear your voice in a song. Your voice is incredible
That was my motive to arrive here.
thank you so much! you did very well explaining yourself in english! :)
Thanks for the analysis!
I got chills! Her breath management is crazy!
Nice insight.. Thanks, I love how they grew famous over time.
amazing
this song is amazing, with lyrics its even better
i first heard of this song like a couple of months ago, i heard this song is top no.1 in the chart for a long time. i was just curious. so i pull out the mv. holy shit. its a banger, yet so complex. usually an overly complex songs would only produce noise, like an abstract painting, but not this, this actually sounds really really good even for easy listener. it tells a story, like each part is a different scene, its extremely fast pace, yet sometimes slowing down, with several key changes not to mention different tones and intonations. i was like, what's going on in this composer's head. its crazy. my first thought, this is not a song that you can just willy nilly sing, oh buddy this is gonna be very very hard to sing live.
then i come across to this exact incredible performance. talking about her vocal ability, im pretty sure you know more about it, she's like a vocalist with so many arsenals up her sleeves. she's literally "acting" while singing. pitch precision, breathing technique, and many others. i thought she's definitely a well experienced singer. then i look her up. to my surprise. she was only 23yo. started her singing career when she barely graduated highschool. what do you say to that if not talent? and of course immense training, and im pretty sure its not only about vocal, she definitely also train to be a great frontman. while doing this whole thing, she also has time to release her own album. man.. she's just.. impressive.
its just.. how? really. how? how do someone able to create a song like this. its genius. and how she can sing it this perfect, whats going on here, like how the gears inside her brain able to process this perfectly for us to listen. its just.. how?
with the composer creative talent, and her singing ability. im excited to see them grow. they're shooting straight to the top, im sure.
It’s more crazy when you learn the lyrics of this song and how Ikura changes the way she sings those verses.
Another awesome video for IDOL! Have you ever seen the official english version of this song? She sang it herself. ❤
Idk how to explain, but i think Yoasobi have those bouncy tone that make it so addicting 🤧
Ayase is so genius for that honestly
Like for Katriinka to cover YOASOBI
The venue was Saitama Arena; if Yoasobi sings 'Idol' in a Tokyo Dome, it will be a meta-performance.
YOASOBI is really talented and this song is something else!
Your point about the Japanese voice acting is so true.
To me, Japanese pop music's embrace of complex and experimental elements stands them apart from the rest of the world.
This is a masterpiece and NO ONE can say otherwise. HOLY SHIT SiM
Just wanna say that YOASOBI is a combination of 2 people who are Ikura (the girl) and Ayase (the producer), no hard feelings tho I love ur videos xD
yeah, Ayase also needs to be mentioned as much Ikura, the man is a genius. arranging sounds that draw you in the sec. you hear it.
YOU GOTTA REACT TO KIKOUHANA!!Kikou is a famous vocaloid producer and hanatan is a quite known singer THEIR SO GOOD AND YOULL LOVE HANATANS VOCALS THEIR IMPRESSIVE
first time viewer, very pleasant experience, thank you!
Being involved in the music industry yourself, I would also like to see your reaction to the meaning of the song itself.
It does, it an song of Ai's life as a idol
Every part of the song points to it being Ai.the part after the op in oshi no ko ends, refers to the idol-mates of Ai in the previous B-komachi where they talk behind her back, the part where the singer mentions aqua and ruby (which means that Ai is the only other person that is possible to sing it),
Ep1 spoilers:
The last line of Idol are the last words of Ai(reversed)
But most importantly in the MV Ai is the one that is like the MC
I would love to see a cover!!
YOASOBI is not just a band they're literally a genre, they're like a cult that you'd love to get into like daaaaaamn
I don't know if yoasobi is still breathing cuz she sing so fast💀
I know you meant ikura but I’m case you didn’t know , Yoasobi is a duo. The guy wearing the white-Chromish shirt on stage is Ayase - the producer - he writes the songs for the duo and some other stuff. Ikura is the lady singing .
I remember some AI voice cover singing this song and it starts stammering in the middle of the song. But like... It's just like me fr fr
i'm all up for the cover!!!
No se mucho de japonés y poco entiendo de inglés, pero me gusta lo elegante y suave que es la voz de Katrinka.
been waiting for this! Thank you Kat! Best to watch its anime "Oshi no Ko"
I saw a lot of japanese can't even sing this song straight. It stops at very awkward moments, you can't sing it unless you're very familiar with it. It's like a song made into a fast poem. The story telling was superbly done tho, it's really deep too.
This and The Blessing/Shukufuku are my fave YOASOBI songs. Shukufuku is the opening for Gundam: Witch From Mercury.
Thank you for uploading.
Recent anime music is very closely related to Vocalo P and vocalo's Utaite.
Such as this.
Yoasobi : (Oshinoko OP ”IDOL” vocalist. Ayase vocaloP and Ikura (Rira Ikuta) vocalo's utaite)
Ado : (One-piece film red insert songs vocalist. vocalo's Utaite)
Tatsuya Kitani : (Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd season OP "Aono Sumika" lyrics, composition, vocalist. Vocalo P)
Karasu Yasabo, (Oshinoko Vol3 character songs, lyrics, composition. Vocalo P)
Kenshi Yonezu : (Chainsaw Man OP "KICK BACK" lyrics, composition, vocalist. Vocalo P. Co-arranged by King Gnu and Daiki Tsuneta.) etc.
This song is written by Ayase who is a fan of the manga Osinoko.
He used to write songs as a hobby.
It seems that there was an offer from an animation production company later.
Ayase became an idol for Iura during the recording
She told me to pretend and sing.
doesnt ayase still write songs for many ppl? he has written songs for Valis and Suisei.
unless it is a different ayase but i doubt that
@@siekensou77 テレビで本人が言ってましたけど?RUclips探せばあると思います。
FYI: yoasobi will perform as special guest in coldplay tour in tokyo
Another interesting thing about the song, especially the "rap" part, is when she uses the rhymes in "ai". That's just a theory from me, but given that the lyrics mention the fact that the other members of B-Komachi are jealous of Ai (the central character of the series), it stands to reason that you always hear her name, hence the "ai" coming every line.
it almost sounds like she has practiced this song before! :O
That's pretty common for professionals tbh, also given the fact that they might've already familiarised themselves with how to sing these songs ever since recording them in studios
I love this song!!!!!!💯💯💯
0:58 She is doing a concert in cochella you may have time to go there
She is singing what she damn well pleases.
Great analysis! That Rode microphone is very sensitive and sounds amazing! Does your room have to be modified for your microphone? I tried different microphones last year and one picked up the neighbors dog drinking water outside the window that had foam in it.
If you have a condenser mic (like the rode in the vid) in a noisy environment, room modification is definitely a must, because condensers pick up sound from *everywhere* so *easily*
What mic are you currently using if you dont mind?
I ended up keeping a Razer Seiren Elite RZ19-0223 but I didn’t get any traction on my channel so it’s back in the box.
@@rwfrench66GenX ooh, how was it while in use though?
YOASOBI is a duel of Ikura and the producer Ayase both are equally good at singing and songwriting but you should really check out Ayase's other songs my recc is Ghost City Tokyo feat the vocaloid Hatsune miku i personally love Ayase's covers they're also good :3
It's already 7M and counting...
You need a ton of oxygen for this song 😅
I would love to see you cover this song!!!
This song took down every song in this year 3>
a cover would be so sick
All of yoasobi song must have a control breath 😂❤
That smile when Ikura ended singing is my favourite moment of this live! This is by far one of my favourites videos from live shows with We are by One ok rock and Metal Kingdom by Babymetal side by side!
If you liked Yoasobi then you will love Lisa, she is incredible
Please, pleeeeeeease, I’d love to hear your “Idol” cover.
GUYS TIS MELODI IS VERION ENGLESH SARCH ;)
They made an official English version... This music are various points of views from the characters in the anime "oishii no Ko" that is way she changes the pace of the music to highlight this...
ikura is amazing and ayase with her wow
I think you should probably do a colab with Drumrolltony, because he is also a really good song reactor and you both analyzes beyond what normal listeners can perceive. You reacts on vocals and He reacts on Instruments and Choreo. Imagine that amazing Combination akin to Yin and Yang.
You may want to consider this artist, Tsukuyomi - Mayday
she gives off Ado vibes
Do it! Do a cover of IDOL!
Yoasobi: sings a song about the dark side of the idol industry
Fans in the stadium: yay!

Please react to YOASOBI - 群青 in THE FIRST TAKE, a masterpiece.
Would really like to see your reaction to 優しい彗星 (Yasashii Suisei) from YOASOBI. Not as much of a hype song as アイドル but incredibly beautiful, especially live version on TFT.

React to Yoasobi's Heart Beat, you're sure to love it
Maybe you know that already but YOASOBI is a duo. The vocalist Ikura and songwriter/producer Ayase. Sometimes they also do solo stuff. Last year Ikura did a whole Album.
so like, if Ikura do solo, did the song produced by ayase too?
@@arifarrafi3302 Ikuta Lila(幾田りら) is what she goes by as a solo artist, she is a singer/songwriter in her own right. Ayase started out as a Vocaloid producer/artist himself and he still does his own music outside of Yoasobi as well.
