Honestly, New Yorkers do have an accent obviously, just like everyone does but it certainly is not the Italian accent. If you've lived here long enough, like I have, you hear it frequently on the trains and such. I have that slight accent too. I'm not sure how to describe it though.

Accent was passable, but since when do New Yorkers calls a regular slice of pizza "cheese"? It's "Hey, lemme get a slice" . And why would you have coffee with the pizza? Doesn't go together. And we don't necesarrily say "Please" (sometimes we do), but saying "Please, cheese, on the double" -- the "on the double" cancels out whatever politeness was there with the "please". Just "Hey buddy, lemme get a slice," would suffice. Maaaaybe sometimes we say a "plain slice" or a 'plain pie"or a "regular slice"/"regular pie" but we definitely do not refer to it as "a cheese slice" or "a cheese pie" . C'mon! That's ridiculous.
