- Hey friends! I've been wanting to make a Dollar Tree cake for a while and the occasion for it has finally arrived! We've hit 50,000 subscribers on this channel! I am so full of gratitude and appreciation as well being so excited and hopeful for the future 💙
I baked today's cake using only ingredients from the Dollar Tree. I also tested out some of Dollar Tree's cake decorating supplies. Why the Dollar Tree? I like to challenge myself to make different recipes using Dollar Tree ingredients, both as a demonstration in how to be adaptable when your options for ingredients are limited, as well as to highlight that many people out there are only able to do their grocery shopping at non traditional stores, so these options are their normal.

Here's a tip. I used to be a cake decorator, Instead of cutting the top of the cake off to make it flat, when you first pull it out of the oven take a clean towel and flatten the top of the cake. Makes it so much easier to frost too. And congrats on your 50,000!!!

Never heard that one. Thank you. When I was baking I just did 2 layers and used Crisco and flour on the pan and after cool popped write out. And frosted the bottom side which was flat and now on the top and flat no need for cutting the weight of everything flattens it out in the end no towel needed No offense. Never saw that cutting the top. No offense. Tubs of frosting just came out when I was in High School and I dumped too much food coloring in the tub. If you want to thin out frosting do that. 😊😆❤️ Love your channel. Love to see you do more cooking and be uninhibited. Like how about Lisa’s Gourmet Tuesdays to try some food network or other dishes u want to. Try and rate Rachels 30 minute meals. Just suggestions. A VERY BEAUTIFUL CAKE 💜❤️💜❤️💜💕💕💕

Here’s my one little tip I always use a circle of parchment and butter it in any cake it makes it so much easier to get out… Just put the pan on a circle of parchment or even wax paper your circle… It looks so fun though I can’t wait to watch the rest of the video!!! Also just a tip add little bit of that vanilla to the frosting to or a little lemon juice just a little something makes it so much better

When my mom made cakes as a side hustle in the 90s, I remember helping her out as a kid by piping stars on birthday cakes. The one that comes to memory the most is a Tigger cake made with a Wilton cake pan. All the orange stars! 😂

When I made my husband's birthday cake (like a decade ago lol) I did the same cake flavor and decorations (funfetti with blue trim and sprinkles) and I spend a fortune on the ingredients! Girl, you saved me a fortune for his cake this year! Thanks for sharing and congrats again!
there's never too much fun in the funfetti!! But here's a great hack for not having your layers stick. Cut a round of parchment paper and grease it lightly. Stick it in the bottom of your pan and pour your batter on top. It will slide right out! Congrats on the 50k! I think I wandered over when you were around 25k and it's been a fun journey!

We were able to get a flatter top to our cakes by taking the cake pan with the batter in it and giving it a spin, this way the batter rose on the sides first then the middle. it's not a perfect flat top but you don't have to cut the cake to make it flat and you turn the very top tier so that the flat bottom is up. Some people chill the cakes before trimming them flat to reduce the crumbs.
Also grease the cake pans with shortening AND flour, works just fine to help release the cakes if you are not using a parchment base.

Lisa when you use the rose tip turn it the opposite direction with the wide part of the tip at the bottom and the skinny at the top that will help with the formation of flowers.

Hint on cutting the cake. You had the perfect outline..! Cut the circle in the middle, where the white frosting is. Then cut the outside edge into slices. You’ll have perfect slices..! Then cut the circle into quarters, like the wedges you get from a regular cake. I learned that from a Brazilian friend, because they needed more slices but also didn’t want such huge wedges that Americans eat. Works GREAT..! And where you had that ‘white circle’ right in the middle, you were halfway there..!! Congrats on all the subscribers.. great job on the cake..!
