I go backpacking on the Appalachian Trail, and many times, the only resupply in small towns is a Dollar Store. If you get the "Just Add Water" Pancake Mix, and use a 50/50 combination of Flour & Pancake Mix, some Salt, and enough water to form a thick batter, you can make skillet biscuits.
Thank you for sharing a week's worth of food with us. I like how you make your flatbread tortillas I Eat lot of these myself for my breakfast lunch or dinner the tortillas flatbread. I I like to eat my tortillas with the little cheese and I grill them on the stove. I'm going to try your recipe for the noodles I've never made noodles before so this will be very interesting for me to try.
I love these cheap dinners! Walmart has a 1 lb. tube of frozen ground turkey (less than $2) - comes in Italian, Taco, & Plain flavors. Its really good too. I also buy their beef liver (less than $3). Maybe cheap Walmart dinners now & again would be interesting too? BTW, your soothing voice, coupled with a relaxed friendly demeanor & intelligent speaking makes your videos a joy to watch.😀👍👍
I lived on black beans and rice with salsa during a rough patch in 2014 and it was so filling and delicious. Once in a while I threw in little addition of vegetable or wieners as I could afford. Watching your videos is a trip down memory lane and a reminder that somehow we can always manage.🍀
In Korea, there’s a soup called Sujebi - which translates to dough flake or hand torn noodles. The dough is so simple to make with only flour, salt, water, and a little oil. You could easily make a dough like your flatbread dough and pull apart into noodles and cook straight in broth and veggies from the Dollar Tree. Simple yet comforting and hearty! (look up maangchi’s recipe on RUclips)
I host a frugal Facebook group and suggested this video to my group. I told them even if they hesitate to purchase food items from Dollar Tree or feel a $10.00 menu plan is not for them, videos such as yours can spark ideas and information that can help them reduce their food costs, inspire new ,and varied meals So thank you for posting this. Lastly, when I have fresh fruit that is close to spoiling I cut it up into small pieces without sugar and just a tiny bit of water so it doesn't burn and then put it in the microwave one to two minutes to soften it stir and enjoy in Oatmeal, on Toast, Crackers this version of a Fruit Spread is the same as yours and is delicious, inexpensive, and healthy
This girl is amazing. Even though I wouldn't be a fan of every single dish, the thought and the prep, plus the info she shares, wow. What a gifted creator. So glad I found this.
Oh my goodness you had plenty of variety. I'm thinking if trying this challenge myself. My problem is that I have to have a lot of protein in my diet. The beans are definitely a good choice for that. The beans are a mainstay of my diet now. I had the Gastric Bypass a year ago and I'm down 127 pounds.
That is amazing! Congratulations. Sometime with $10 it is mostly carbs and processed food in this video. However I like some of her other videos it’s more variety....It includes protein, veggies and some complex carbs.
@@SandyArmyCat2005 thank you! I definitely watch her other videos. I make my own bone broth and now use the vegetable scraps in the carcasses or bones.

I’m so happy you make these videos. Although I’m pretty well off now, I grew up scraping change together to go to the dollar store. Food insecurity/accessibility is such an issue for so many, and these videos can really help people meet their needs. Please keep making them-so many people find them crucial!! Also, reducing the peaches sounds so good-going to try it with my oatmeal!!
My dollar tree doesn't have a frozen section, but the ones in the town where I work do. I went this week and the freezer section of the one I visited was 2/3 empty. So this was very good timing in case the freezer sections are sparse. And you know we LOVE bonus kitty footage 😍
Hi! You inspired me to make ravioli with your last video. It was delicious and my children gobbled them down! Thank you for these “frugal” menu videos. I get a lot of good ideas from them.
@Aldi's, for 80 cents each, you can buy a dozen eggs with limit of 6. I've been known to boil at least 1 dozen to keep in the fridge for impromptu snacks or single breakfasts. My Mom is Diabetic and I'm fighting this as well as a benign brain tumor. I don't want to get this illness too! I told Mom I want to eat protein, fruit and veggies. 😀
These are honestly great videos for people who live in food deserts. You had a decently balanced meal everyday, with almost the 2k recommended calories daily. Thanks for these!
I really enjoy watching your videos. You are so creative in your cooking. You're helping so many people, people who don't know what to buy or how to use the items that they have purchased. God bless you😌😌
Our Dollar Tree doesn't have a freezer section here in Macomb, Illinois. And since my husband and I are retired now, with the price of groceries now, we might be having to trim the grocery budget and buy very cheap items. Thanks for showing us how to make meals with limited items.
Some great ideas. Have you thought of doing a week of cooking from what you have in the pantry/fridge? I think it would help a lot of people who say “I don’t have anything to eat in the house”. When often they could eat at least a week or two with the stuff they have.
I am always excited when you upload. Your ideas are the most creative, compared to other this type videos. By the way, your hair is gorgeous! 💚 I love the positive vibe and positive comments on your channel

I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your channel but I just wanted to say thank you. You are so creative and resourceful and have taught me so much about how to eat well and smartly on a budget. About the oatmeal - sometimes I get tired of eating something sweet so I like to eat it savory (kinda like treating it like rice) by adding a boiled egg or sausage and it's warm and filling and hits the spot xoxo
I am so happy for these videos. I look at my pantry and the 11 bucks in my purse. I could figure this out if it wasn't so upsetting. It will be better in a couple weeks but for now I'm glad your in charge of my kitchen.
I love cheap meal videos and I never feel like they actually cover breakfast lunch and dinner. This is hands down the best representation of eating for very little I’ve ever seen. On top of that your meals actually looked delicious and I loved your use of flour. Amazing!!
I thought you challenged yourself before, but you really out did yourself on this one! You rock! Great job! Love all your videos. Glad to be seeing you more. Your cat is so sweet 💞 .
What a great video! When I first saw your items I was all set to suggest swapping for perhaps for shelf-stable milk and some baking powder so that you could make more with the flour. Ya. This is why your videos are such a wealth of info. I do appreciate that you said how long it took you to make the noodles and the flatbreads. I have to say I thought they would take a lot longer. But what do I know I thought you needed baking powder and shelf-stable milk to make anything out of flour! LOL
Honestly the amount of variety you squeezed into this is awesome. I think variety is the key to nutritional balance so good job to get so much in there! I’m in Canada, so everything at our dollar stores is like $4.99 lol but I love learning how to eat well and inexpensively! Also totally here for the kitty cuteness ❤️
I love your channel! You've given me a lot of inspiration to cut down my grocery bill, and I've been eating a lot more refried beans since I started watching lol.
My Dollar Tree has very little frozen or refrigerated food. I live in Southeast Kansas and we also have no food banks or similar resources. The nearest foodbank is three hours away. in Wichita, Kansas.
Thank you for another great video and in the Davenport Iowa area I'm Lucky, my Dollar Tree has freezer sections. I love showing my cat your cat at the end!! 😻😻
All of my local Dollar Tree’s have a fridge/freezer section. I just LOVE their bags of frozen veggies! I found a Southwestern corn/black bean/pepper/onion mix and made a chicken chili with some rotisserie chicken, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes with chilies, chili spices, salt and pepper. I added shredded cheese on top. My husband ate EVERY bite. I also used the same rotisserie chicken and made cream of chicken soup in the crockpot. With 2 large cans of cream of chicken soup, 2 TBs of butter, a carton of chicken broth, a cup of milk, carrots, celery, salt, pepper, a little garlic powder and shell shaped noodles. It turns out really thick like a stew. We eat it for days on end because it’s just SO good! Could you make some rotisserie chicken recipes?? I just LOVE how versatile they are. I bring them home, immediately take off all the meat, shred it up good and freeze it in portions for meals. You can literally make anything with them! I’d love to see how you’d work your magic!!
Rotisserie chickens are such a good value. I got 2 for $10.00 a few weeks ago, and after stripping them down, I made bone broth with the bones, skin and bits of meat that stuck to the bones. I added water, an onion, garlic, celery, tomatoes, a carrot, pepper corns and a bay leaf as well as salt and simmered it all for a couple hours. I also added a little wine. I strained it in a dish towel, and the result was a lovely broth.
Great job. I love these kind of videos. I'm in my 60s and I've never made flat bread. I will try it. Can you do a video on how to use lentils as meat to help save money? Blessings!!
Just discover your channel and I’ve watched so many videos! You have such a beautiful way of speaking - very warm and welcoming. I have already learned so much from watching you cook! We have poundland & poundshops here in uk equivalent to yr dollar tree stores! I don't know if you find this but I can find stuff much cheaper elsewhere! For example our co op has a value range that are under £1! Pasta 20p Tin of beans 20p, beans & sausages 50p, tomato soup 50p, peas 35p, carrots 35p, creamed rice & custard 30p and peaches 30p per tin! I found a lot of things in our pound shops that you can get much cheaper elsewhere. So it's always worth looking around! These videos are really great because lots of people struggle and go without and seeing what you can make out of 10 items is fantastic! X
There are a lot of places in the USA where grocery stores aren't available. So you may have only one store for a top up. Most people go to a regular grocery store with great prices for food.
@@iana6713 yeah I think most of the big supermarkets have price matched aldi and lidl aswell so most of them are now selling things thats are way cheaper!
For sure, these Dollar Tree budget videos are more about accessibility and how to be adaptive and creative when you have limited options. If you have the options and the ability to do so, shopping around will almost always yield the best savings and deals 😀
You can use the water from cooking beans as a egg substitute when making pasta (Aquafaba). I have done it a few times with pinto bean water and it made good flavored pasta.
I love peanut butter! The peanut sauce was interesting to see with the noodles! Might have to try. Thank you for sharing all your meal ideas. I'd LOVE to see a video filled with egg. Different ways to use eggs.
Lisa. Now that the Dollar Tree is raising their prices, could you do videos on dollar tree weekly challenges with the increased prices? These will help us who are already on a stupid tight budget but now have this price increase to consider. Love your videos. Thank you!!! 😊💸💸
The only thing I might have done differently would be put some banana chips in the oatmeal. I also always have cinnamon in my pantry, so some of that as well. Great video.
Agree. I can’t eat plain oatmeal. I have to doctor it up. I usually add cinnamon, maybe some fruit and nuts. A little French vanilla coffee creamer to give it a creamy consistency and extra flavor.
You'd have to boil those chips for awhile, the oatmeal was quick cooking. As for me I'd just a little butter and salt the way the Scots do. Tastes good that way. Oatmeal doesn't need sugar to be good.
You Are Really GOOD. I just love your channel and your creativity. Thank you so much for such awesome content. I can make noodles from scratch now. You make everything so down to earth and doable.
Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your videos! You’re down to earth and frugal and I appreciate the information you give out. It’s useful for anyone. If someone is not in the situation where they NEED to shop & cook this way, they should still watch, so they will have the knowledge when they could be. It’s kind of like depression cooking, which is what I grew up with and still retain to this day. Creamed peas on toast, from that era, is still a favorite and a comfort food at our house. So thanks for the lessons you’re teaching all of us! Great content!
I'm always impressed with your creativity when doing these challenges. Really good hearty meals and a good amount of food. I was thinking because you said you didn't love the oatmeal instead you could have made baked oats with the peaches added. It would have been nice with the baking giving it a deeper flavour and baked peaches are lovely, and you could have then baked a big tray of it and vcut it up into squares for the week. :)
My grandmother made "slick" dumplings for chicken and pastry just like you made your noodles! Well, not just like because she cut them into rectangles. They were sooo 👍
Thank you so much for making this kind of content. It inspires me to use what I have on hand. So many people struggle with food insecurity. I have had to rely on food pantries in the past.
The main problem with food pantry food, as I see it, is lack of variety, and depending on what is received, lack of vitamins/micronutrients. But with just a few additions, (mainly veggies), I've been able to make two week's meals for five people (two different pantries). I had to make sure to switch up the pantry staples so we didn't have pasta every night. 😁
MIddle Georgia here. Our DT's have freezer sections but they are usually very small and haven't had much selection this past year. Mostly the very basics like ice creams and sandwich meat.
Again, you are a treasure. Thank you for these terrific videos, I take a lot away from them even though I've been cooking for many years. xoxox from Ohio, where some Dollar Trees have frozen and some don't
I don’t know if anyone else made this suggestion but you could have turned the peanut sauce into a Thai peanut sauce by adding some of the hot sauce, soy sauce, and garlic powder. I think I would have opted for another can of veggies instead of the Vienna bites. The veggies would have gone well with the noodles in peanut sauce. Plus you had complete protein in the dish with the Vienna bites from the combination of beans and rice. I think the inclusion of the flour was a great idea so you could have the bread and pasta options in you menu. Great job!
Depends on which Dollar Tree I decide to go to. There are 4 of them within 30 minutes of my house. Two of them have a frozen section. I'm from an economically depressed area in Southern California. It's been that way for-EVER, even before Covid...Love your extreme budget videos!
Great ideas.. 🤗 when we have lots of left overs we add the left over into a tortilla and make a burrito out of it and freeze it . Then when ever no one cooks or running low on grocerys you pull them out and pop them on the stove or in the microwave . We call them suprise burritos lol . Never know what youll get in your burrito ..lol
Thank you for sharing this budget friendly recipe. Budgeting better with my groceries has been on my mind with the rising prices. This kind of video is very helpful for me and I am sure many other people right now. I try to budget best I can but I know I can always learn. I make cooking videos too so you know I’m making lots of food so every penny I can save on groceries counts. I hope that we can continue to learn from each other. Never stop learning and growing!
I so appreciate you! If you have the means, for the oat meal, you can get chia seeds, flax seeds, and oat bran, pan toast them a little and they do add a little sumpin, sumpin to the porridge. I prefer a savory porridge with some fruit and maple syrup added. But as with anything else, it is a matter of of personal preference.
Have you ever considered using the abundance of rice that you have left over to make cream of rice for breakfast? Potentially this could add another item for your week when you don't have to purchase oatmeal! Love your videos by the way!
LOL @ the comment about dropping the phone in the beans, and wearing black. I love to laugh because you are so real like we all are. It is fun to watch you and I learn so much! Thank you for another wonderful video!
I've gone to one here in Florida that doesn't have a freezer section. The city I'm live in now, Tampa, Florida has a freezer section. I love your inexpensive meal ideas. Please keep them coming. Thanks.
Being handicapped is hard to get to food pantries. And they won't come to me lol. I live on beans, eggs, and rice 3 weeks a month, and most of the time ramen noodles the last week. But I'm thankful
I think you did a great job.The only things I might have done a little differently is swapped out the mixed veggies for a can of corn with peppers and tomatoes to make like a burrito bowl with the rice, beans, corn and I would have made a peanut sauce with soy sauce,pb and a little syrup.I love that you used a can of stew over rice.
i go to Dollar Tree every week, ive been cooking over 30 years, and they have good stuff there, that oatmeal with apples is amazing, and ill tell you why, that kind and the gingerbread kind arent made here so they have MUCH LESS SUGAR. theyre from Canada, much healthier too. yum.

Asda does similar here in the UK - Smart Price is the budget range and it is extremely cheap. Think it's 20-odd pence for a bag of pasta etc.
Great ideas I think things are to get tough for a while and these are the things that can pull you through. Thanks and God bless!
Homemade pasta never looked so easy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Lisa. Now that the Dollar Tree is raising their prices, could you do videos on dollar tree weekly challenges with the increased prices? These will help us who are already on a stupid tight budget but now have this price increase to consider. Love your videos. Thank you!!! 😊💸💸
Last week, we made pasta from 200 grams of baby spinach and 300 grams of flour. No water or eggs added. So good!
I thought that's what the banana chips were for, so I was surprised when she didn't use them in the oatmeal.
I had thought about it, but I'm SO not a morning person and didn't want to be bothered with it once I was actually standing in my kitchen at 6:30 am 😂
You'd have to boil those chips for awhile, the oatmeal was quick cooking. As for me I'd just a little butter and salt the way the Scots do. Tastes good that way. Oatmeal doesn't need sugar to be good.

I was happy to see a new video from you. I love watching these frugal meal challenges, and yours are my favorite.
On a completely different note, your hair is beautiful ❤
You are such a smart gal! I love your videos showing people that they can eat well even at the dollar tree!
It’s Christmas, it has to be! I looove your uploads. Love your channel, from Georgia ❤️🥰
I'm in GA too😉
love your ideas. love the homemade noodles with the peanut butter sauce on them. all looked so good. thank you!!
Yay! Thank you for another video!
I feel like you are a friend teaching me how to cook. 💜
I get so excited to see your videos pop up on my feed ☺️ Omgosh the kitty 😍😍😍
thank you for another awesome video !
Glad you like them!
Great job!
Freeze the can of peaches in the can when it’s not quite frozen blend it with the syrup and you’ll have sobret
I really enjoy these videos 🙂
Depends on which Dollar Tree I decide to go to. There are 4 of them within 30 minutes of my house. Two of them have a frozen section. I'm from an economically depressed area in Southern California. It's been that way for-EVER, even before Covid...Love your extreme budget videos!
You are the best!!!! Fantastic meals suggestions. Your cat is gorgeous.
This is amazing Lisa. Especially for the bachelors and international students coming to America
So excited to see you in my notifications for the new video!!! I LOVE your channel!
Refried black beans are my favorite. But black beans are my favorite bean too lol. But now I make them myself after watching your videos!
You are very clever, you keep this up you’ll be a millionaire in a decade.
Excellent content as always! Was super pumped when I got the notification that you had uploaded a new video 😁
I would have added soy sauce and hot sauce to the peanut sauce to make a spicy satay but other than that I think this was a great video! Thank you.
Definitely.. and maybe a little green onion or cilantro.. it's time for a kitchen window sill herb garden
I’d’ve added onion, but that was out of budget. 😞
I love refried black beans! Great video. Thank you for the frugal tips as always!
Thanks.
Your flat bread is amazing That you for sharing our talents
Thanks!
You are doing the Lord's work Lisa. God bless you.
Your hair is so beautiful!
You are very ingenious and I can tell you have a lot of kitchen skills! Great job
This channel is freaking cool. You overcome ppl's negative/doubtful responses every time. I think you are awesome. Good work.
Being handicapped is hard to get to food pantries. And they won't come to me lol.
I live on beans, eggs, and rice 3 weeks a month, and most of the time ramen noodles the last week.
But I'm thankful
I LOVE your LOVE for beans!!! ❤❤❤
I think you did a great job.The only things I might have done a little differently is swapped out the mixed veggies for a can of corn with peppers and tomatoes to make like a burrito bowl with the rice, beans, corn and I would have made a peanut sauce with soy sauce,pb and a little syrup.I love that you used a can of stew over rice.
i go to Dollar Tree every week, ive been cooking over 30 years, and they have good stuff there, that oatmeal with apples is amazing, and ill tell you why, that kind and the gingerbread kind arent made here so they have MUCH LESS SUGAR. theyre from Canada, much healthier too. yum.
Watching these old videos and hoping you'll post some new ones soon. These videos are always down to earth and practical.
I hadn't been to the Dollar tree for a long time, it was great. Look forward to seeing more videos from you
