Since you bake cakes so often I think you should know that if you follow the directions on the package but then add an extra egg (or two if you want a richer taste), replace the oil with melted butter but double the amount (if you need a tablespoon of vegetable oil instead put 2 tablespoons of melted butter), and replace the water with an equal amount of milk. It will taste literally like 1,000 times better. I do this every time I bake a cake and they taste like they were made from scratch. My sister actually did this for my wedding cake (I only had like 20 people at my wedding so it was a small cake) but everyone was saying how good the cake was and was asking which bakery we bought it from! Also if you buy store bought frosting if you just put it in a bowl and use the mixer on it, it makes it taste a lot better! You can also add like a teaspoon of vanilla to make it even better! Someone help me get this message to Mia!!!
Tip: when you are using fondant that you plan to eat or serve you should use powdered sugar to "flour" your surface and molds to prevent it from sticking. Additionally, vodka (or water) can be used to help the fondant stick to itself.
Yeah I was also going to stay starch or powdered sugar. At a bakery I worked at we also used crisco shortening which helped things not dry out as we worked. Makes everything greasy but works really well!
For everyone concerned about the "flour" she was using - she's using tapioca flour/starch. It's very very similar to corn flour/starch, which is totally safe to use with fondant. She is not using regular, raw flour. The container is literally on the counter right next to her with the label in plain sight.
some things i didn't see others saying: for using a tip with the tri-colour tool you have, i'd get a bigger piping bag with the tip in it to place the three other piping bags into. you also don't even need the tool with that method though. just the three icing bags placed in a bigger bag that has a tip attached works perfectly fine. the roses will look more real if after you cut them out, you roll the top of the petals a bit so they're thinner before rolling them into a flower. gel food colouring is way better for icing! it doesn't water down the icing and you can get a wider range of colours and shades of colour. can't recommend enough. you can mix gel food colour with a clear alcohol (usually vodka) to create a sort of watercolour to paint onto fondant. it's my favourite method if i want more detail than just the flat colouring of coloured fondant. you can use water too, but the alcohol makes it so it dries down in place. from a viewer who used to sell their baking :)
Bakers tip!: crack your egg on a flat surface instead of the bowl to prevent shells falling in. Cracking your egg on the brim of a bowl pushes the cracked shell INTO the egg :)

So many comments, I can't find any that mention it, but if anyone else has issues with cupcakes tipping over, use liners, and a dab of frosting in the box when you package them or directly on your serving plate, then stick the cupcake on it. It's like glue, holding the cake in place eithout adding anything you wouldn't want to eat.
I love the way you bumble your way through and share your frustrations. And I love the way you get so excited and surprised when things work out. You shine when doing room and furniture make overs.
Btw, for the tri-color tip, you're supposed to put the components in the piping tip and then twist the green part (the second part of the coupler) around the tip to secure it. I have one from Wilton and that's how mine works!
Lol....yeah.....the Wilton ones are fantastic....the wish product isnt. It wouldnt really matter how Mia put it together, the icing tips actually dont work with most of those triple systems you can buy from wish.
I bought the Wilton one too. I got so frustrated with it that I threw it away. I'm glad you guys have it figured out. I would have been very happy to see your tip on how to use.

Just a little tip when using the rose cutter roll out the fondant a little thinner then cut, if you have a foam Matt using a roll tool you can feather out the edges going back and fourth on the rose petals then add some water in middle fold up and roll tight once rolled then gently pulled the petals down slightly you can also cut the excess off the bottom of needed ☺️
Did anyone else scream "NO" when she got the flour out to use with the fondant or just me? Love you Mia but you've got to use powdered sugar or cornstarch with fondant Lol! 😁 Update: I've learned that you used tapioca flour. I had no idea what that was. But it's all good!

Just a lil tip Mia, when you don't want the fondont to stick I would recommend using cornstarch instead of flour because flour is raw and even though you probably won't be eating giant chunks of fondont it's still probably better to use.

You need the cutters that go with the pink flower veiners, and you really should use flowerpaste to make any flowers, You can roll it very thin, and it dries hard, not like fondant that stays relatively soft.
Mia: *to the glitter contraption thingy* "this is not working!" Me: *to my phone* "TURN IT THE OTHER WAY OTHER WAY OTHER WAY TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN MIAAA!!" 😂🤷♀️
Actually, I don't think that would work because inside the little cannister, it has a small tube like with a spray bottle. It didn't work because she didn't put a liquid in there, it's meant for liquids. It won't suck up luster dust alone.
@@yessicaja I just don't see how that would work considering it has that little tube. How would it suck in anything if it's upside down? Since the tube opening would be exposed to air and all the powder would be below that? I dunno. I feel like she should try again in different ways haha

@@amara560 they make all different size scoops so the size of a melon baller for mini cupcakes but one that's maybe 2.5 inches diameter for regular cupcakes. You can always just get a regular scoop (I'm talking about the ones with levers and metal scrapers) and just half fill it
to properly put the piping tip on you gotta put your 3 white pieces together, put the metal tip, then screw on the green part! :) I love your videos! i’ve been watching you for so long and you’re “i’m sorry” hoodies is my favourite hoodie in my collection!!
Also if anyone haven't already please go and checkout MIA'S new RUclips banner it's so cute and adorable and our girl was so proud and happy after changing it 🥺🧡
The only thing I can think that is causing the oven clock to freak out is possibly the combination of the digital clock screen with a camera... Like trying to take a picture of a computer screen with your phone's camera?!?
Your eggs were very fresh, white gets thinner the older the eggs are, For zesting I would recommend a microplane zester, they tend to stay sharp a little better (I had to zest 200 lemons on saturday!) If you put a tiny dollop of frosting under the cupcakes they won't tip over, The flower molds/cutters work better with gumpaste than fondant because it's a bit drier/ less elastic so you can roll it thinner. Come to my cafe, we can make a bunch of flowers it'll be fun (and sticky)
Idk if I can watch these videos anymore because the perfectionist in me is like, “Mia, put the icing tip on the bag first, then the coupler ring.” I honestly do not know why I have the urge to cry about this. Like, I have a cringe-cry feeling because I just want to help her so bad. I just feel so bad for her because I was once in her shoes, and had no idea what I was doing, and was so frustrated while doing it.

I used to work in a bakery and my “hack” for cupcakes is using a (sort of smaller) ice cream scooper!
Like a melon baller?
@@amara560 they make all different size scoops so the size of a melon baller for mini cupcakes but one that's maybe 2.5 inches diameter for regular cupcakes. You can always just get a regular scoop (I'm talking about the ones with levers and metal scrapers) and just half fill it
A lot of bakers do this.
@@JoJo-hg7tg yep. Why I thought I would share :)

i love how honest she is
When Mia cracks it when the cupcake tips over had me in stitches!!!
to properly put the piping tip on you gotta put your 3 white pieces together, put the metal tip, then screw on the green part! :)
I love your videos! i’ve been watching you for so long and you’re “i’m sorry” hoodies is my favourite hoodie in my collection!!
Also if anyone haven't already please go and checkout MIA'S new RUclips banner it's so cute and adorable and our girl was so proud and happy after changing it 🥺🧡

Really enjoyed this video 😄 as an Aussie the way Mia say fondant gets me everytime
The cupcakes probably kept tipping over because you didn’t use cupcake cases….
I was wondering about that!

The only thing I can think that is causing the oven clock to freak out is possibly the combination of the digital clock screen with a camera... Like trying to take a picture of a computer screen with your phone's camera?!?
what a trainwreck cupcakes and rollercoaster for mia's emotions, i'm dying of laughter

I love baking far more than cooking meals bc it's so fun to decorate! You did an awesome job!
Can we just acknowledge she didnt have the cupcake papers in the tin lmao
I don't always use papers? It can be a waste if you're just making it for friends or casually.
@@MsLaurasaurous I rarely use them, unless it is for something fancy 😂
I use silicone liners to save on waste and make the clean up easier too

Silicone is the answer! Saves on paper, super easy to clean too.
The oven clock is having a PARTY in the background lmao

25:27 when you're using the glitter in the pump you need to add water 👍
Thank goodness someone said it, that was all I kept thinking!

Okay but the Lil cactus magnets on her fridge are so cute 🥺🥺 I need them
Idk if I can watch these videos anymore because the perfectionist in me is like, “Mia, put the icing tip on the bag first, then the coupler ring.” I honestly do not know why I have the urge to cry about this. Like, I have a cringe-cry feeling because I just want to help her so bad. I just feel so bad for her because I was once in her shoes, and had no idea what I was doing, and was so frustrated while doing it.
I'm over here straight up cringing over the amount of pith that went in with that zest 🥴
I came to the comments to see if I was the only one 🙈 So bitter!!!!
me too dudee I came looking for other comments about this
I couldn’t tell if it was a zester or cheese grater haha
was looking for this comment I was like nooooooo Mia!!!!
For real! This baking videos are getting harder to watch. Lol
