Great reaction, equal to my reaction when I first heard Lovebites. I subscribed. Apparently Japan is ground zero for a rebirth of great heavy rock music. Nemophila, Band-Maid, Baby Metal, etc. etc .After listening to all of them, Lovebites is my favorite: great hooks, talent and they are definitely the most versatile. They are great Live too, check out Break The Wall and Raise Some Hell from Zepp DiverCity. Also, other produced videos like Shadowmaker and Winds Of Transylvania will completely blow your mind.

The way I see it now, there are only two things we need, musically speaking; Lovebites and Band Maid. Between these two outrageously fantastic bands, there are enough shit-hot tunes to melt our ears and squeeze our musical souls!!
Lovebites and Band-Maid are amazing, but the Japanese scene has much, MUCH more to offer to just limit yourself to these two bands. Nemophila, Mary´s Blood,The Gazette, Doll$boxx, Mardelas, Aldious and so many others... The Japanese scene is fantastic. Lovebites are my favourites out of all of them though, but Nemophila is going to be the next big act to break out in the west.

But they are even better live, you have to check Break The Wall from the Tokyo 2020 Concert (Zepp), a song with old Metallica vibes !! Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" pocket nuke), and they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, but Midori has also been getting into the act, and Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for a little over 4 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level. They do everything from soulful power ballads to white-hot insane thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two shredders are very different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist-she only picked up guitar when she was 18. They are amazing live. out of the hundreds of reactions I have seen on Lovebites, there are probably only a few who did what you did, replayed the solo section, and had a major eargasm over and over Lol. Your blown mind was very evident as we witness the melting of your face as clear as day, I hope you had the strength to pick up the pieces of your mind and face off the table. Now, this was a total true reaction to Lovebites, you were definitely bitten just as we were when we first discovered this incredible and amazing band. I for have not stopped listening to Lovebites since 2017 they are on repeat on my phone, on my car, on my laptop here on RUclips. You found another great band. Japan is definitely the epicenter of Rock and Roll today. LOL Speechless. Go back to their roots and watch "Shadowmaker." Don't worry about the advertisement after the first verse because that is what their old label did. Then try any of their live songs from the DVD last year. They will be labelled "Live from Zepp DiverCity Tokyo. I recommend "When Destinies Align," "Raise Some Hell," "Holy War" or "Thunder Vengeance" from that show. For another wowser of a band, find Mary's Blood and react to the OMV for "Marionette." You saw the guitarist, Saki, on screen right with Nemophila.

Welcome to Lovebites. You should check out a video of one of their live performances. They are better live more brutal and louder. I recommend 'Holy War' and then anything from their concert at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo 2020.
Midori Tatematsu is perhaps the somewhat more technical of the two (Miyako says so, too), but both are superb players...and Miyako is every bit as good on piano.
@@Ratovx Agree wholeheartedly! No shortage of players with mad chops who are simply not interesting to listen to. Midori and Miyako are consistently delivering wonderful, _musical_ solos that are as interesting as they are technical. One of the best guitar pairs going anywhere...
Talking about the guitars, I love both of them equally 'cause they both are so different from each other. Midori is speed oriented with simple tone of her guitar, Miyako is emotion oriented with all the effects to her tone. Amazingly, those two different guitarists both make beautiful melody line. In my opinion, they are equal technicalwise, just they use their technique differently. Other members of the band are all top notch though. There is no weak link in Lovebites.

Anything from the live Five of a Kind or Daughters of the Dawn is great quality and well worth your time from thrash to powermetal to classic 80s heavy metal - they can do it.
You seem to really like them. They cover a lot of the metal spectrum, so they have more melodic heavy power metal songs, to other ones more in the vein of thrash metal. If you like metal, especially some classics like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Metallica, LOVEBITES is for you. I think they're great, not one of my favorites, but I respect them a lot. Hope you dig more into the japanese rock scene. Generally, the suggestions are more metal oriented, but there's a lot of awesome bands from other rock genres. Let me suggest you GLIM SPANKY (psychedelic, rock n' roll, influenced by 60's and 90's british bands with some japanese indie flavor); Nothing's Carved In Stone (alternative rock/funk/indie), MAN WITH A MISSION (alternative rock/elecronic/rap), Tricot (math/indie rock), BRATS (alternative/punk/grunge), Ningen Isu (heavy rock/rock n' roll very Sabbath-esque vibe with some elements of japanese folk). I even suggest you to check out BRADIO (funk/rock n' roll with some disco vibes, reminiscent of 70's Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire or Jamiroquai, with afro and stuff). Cheers!

Formed in 2016 to bring more European sounds to J/Metal (thus their songs are all in English albeit with an accent). Then we have Asami the ex-ballerina student who comes from a R & B/Jazz/Soul background and never sang metal till she joined this band. I agree with the others who say watch them live, they are even better, just avoid any Bloodstock 2018 footage as they were switched to the main stage last second without any sound test when Suicidal Tendencies were delayed and the audio engineer guy messed up Miyako's sound.
dang it, I disagree with everyone who claims that they are better live, they are Lovebites they are better however, live, MV, and audio it is all excellent and exceptional
Regarding live Lovebites videos... You'll want to stay away from the Bloodstock concert footage, it's sub-par... not because of their playing, but because the sound engineering was jacked and it doesn't do the band justice. Instead, you can't go wrong with the Zepp Live concert videos (which are newer anyway) and of course their studio music videos.

Lovebites are my favourites out of all of them though, but Nemophila is going to be the next big act to break out in the west.

Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity.
They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" pocket nuke), and they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, but Midori has also been getting into the act, and Asami writes a lot of the lyrics.
They have only been around for a little over 4 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to white-hot insane thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two shredders are very different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist-she only picked up guitar when she was 18.

Don't worry about the advertisement after the first verse because that is what their old label did. Then try any of their live songs from the DVD last year. They will be labelled "Live from Zepp DiverCity Tokyo. I recommend "When Destinies Align," "Raise Some Hell," "Holy War" or "Thunder Vengeance" from that show. These two are among the best guitarists right now, especially Watanabe Miyako, the one with the V, is a musical prodigy and virtuoso.
Midori Tatematsu is perhaps the somewhat more technical of the two (Miyako says so, too), but both are superb players...and Miyako is every bit as good on piano.

@@Ratovx Agree wholeheartedly! No shortage of players with mad chops who are simply not interesting to listen to. Midori and Miyako are consistently delivering wonderful, _musical_ solos that are as interesting as they are technical. One of the best guitar pairs going anywhere...
Talking about the guitars, I love both of them equally 'cause they both are so different from each other. Midori is speed oriented with simple tone of her guitar, Miyako is emotion oriented with all the effects to her tone. Amazingly, those two different guitarists both make beautiful melody line. In my opinion, they are equal technicalwise, just they use their technique differently.
Other members of the band are all top notch though. There is no weak link in Lovebites.

You seem to really like them. They cover a lot of the metal spectrum, so they have more melodic heavy power metal songs, to other ones more in the vein of thrash metal. If you like metal, especially some classics like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Metallica, LOVEBITES is for you.
I think they're great, not one of my favorites, but I respect them a lot.
Hope you dig more into the japanese rock scene. Generally, the suggestions are more metal oriented, but there's a lot of awesome bands from other rock genres. Let me suggest you GLIM SPANKY (psychedelic, rock n' roll, influenced by 60's and 90's british bands with some japanese indie flavor); Nothing's Carved In Stone (alternative rock/funk/indie), MAN WITH A MISSION (alternative rock/elecronic/rap), Tricot (math/indie rock), BRATS (alternative/punk/grunge), Ningen Isu (heavy rock/rock n' roll very Sabbath-esque vibe with some elements of japanese folk). I even suggest you to check out BRADIO (funk/rock n' roll with some disco vibes, reminiscent of 70's Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire or Jamiroquai, with afro and stuff).

Wait you haven't heard anything yet, wait till you experience this insanely talented band LIVE for a complete mind blowing affair. Flawless and in pursuit of perfection in everything these women do. They took all the great 80's metal sounds and blended them into their own style and elevated them to a whole new level. 1st all female Metal Band from Japan to play Wacken and Bloodstock festivals in Europe (2018). I agree with the others who say watch them live, they are even better, just avoid any Bloodstock 2018 footage as they were switched to the main stage last second without any sound test when Suicidal Tendencies were delayed and the audio engineer guy messed up Miyako's sound.
dang it, I disagree with everyone who claims that they are better live, they are Lovebites they are better however, live, MV, and audio it is all excellent and exceptional
Regarding live Lovebites videos... You'll want to stay away from the Bloodstock concert footage, it's sub-par... not because of their playing, but because the sound engineering was jacked and it doesn't do the band justice. Instead, you can't go wrong with the Zepp Live concert videos (which are newer anyway) and of course their studio music videos.
