Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.

Let's be fair when we talk about poverty in India, specially coming from a channel which has British in its name, we dare not forget, who looted India for 200 yrs and how after the 'Raj' its global GDP counted for less than 2% of the global GDP from being 25% before EIC landed on its shores.

Poverty in India has been increase during 1500s and multiplied very fast at the end of british empire so what we get the conclusion.
Its simple that before 1500s(mughal empire) we were not so poor as we were at the time of rule and the poverty become extreme during the british empire and after independence it seen a massive revamp on poverty.
Hence that is not the trait of India it was inherited by the cruel rulers in India.
