I used a basic version of this, used my own spices. It turned out really great! I definitely recommend using olive oil and coating the skewered shrimp, makes them easier to get off the skewer.
Shrimp were cooked to perfection using this method. This was my first time using a skewer to grill shrimp (not sure why), but it was a game changer. Thank you!
I used a different recipe. I marinated 12 large shrimp in orange juice and honey. I used the skewering technique you showed. I got great results. Really moist. I will keep them pressed together on skewers from now on. You made ME a better griller.
Came out exceptional. I used Old Bay Seasoning which is just celery salt, red/black pepper, and paprika. Also added dill. Dill is a must. Used alot of seasoning ofc. The folks like yum yum sauce with it
+AirplaneRandy.....i agree. put on spices? how about a clue as to what spices they guy is using!! geez.......you want to give a recipe....give the ingredients!!!!
I wish to heaven that you'd included the type of seasoning you used when you dusted the shrimp. That is what I believe is one of the most important steps.
At 2:41 - "Very very important here that I close the lid to trap that good smokiness that's developing." What smokiness? That's a gas grill! You might as well just cook the shrimp in an oven. If you want a smoky flavor, grill over charcoal. If you want a mercaptan flavor, grill over gas.
Most tips I've seen said to do all the shrimp like the first, so the don't spin when you turn the skewer, but I will definitely try it this way. I'll try to this way as well as opposed to marinated shrimp. I guess I'll try a spicy BBQ rub on them or a spicy shrimp/seafood seasoning on them similar to Old Bay.
Any particular "dried spices" you have in the mixture? Looks easy until you go to the recipe and find out it's actually 3 recipes. When I get out of culinary school, I'll make this
Shrimp close together keep the moisture, it passes from one to the another. Simple cooking. Fry chicken, you don't load the pan because the moisture passes onto the others, grilling, keep the moisture.
For me, this was not so great. Didn't talk about differences between shell on and off. Didn't talk about the differences between gas and charcoal. I use charcoal and have trouble with flair-ups even though I try to go light on the oil. This seems a gas demonstration. Was hoping for a little more knowledge.
Two skewers work better than one. Olive oil with fresh garlic and pepper flakes. Microwave 30 seconds. 4 mins on one side. Turn it off and rest for 2. Voila!
idk man get creative thats what cooking is all about, you see the spice mix was red, what are some red spices? try paprika, cayenne, since its seafood probably old bay or maybe seasoning salt if he's using a premade spice mix, after that its really up to you add w/e you like
With this video I made the best shrimp I have ever eaten hands down. This video is 9yrs old but oh so relevant! Thank you!!
Great recipe! I loved the pro tip of the skewers. I used a mix of dill, celery salt, white pepper, and paprika for my spices.
Thank you! I’m cooking my dad a father’s day lunch and I’m grilling shrimp for first time. I came to look for some tips. This videos helped by A LOT!

Thank you for this amazing cooking method.
"The shrimp will tell you when they're ready to turn" I've been waiting for 30 minutes and they have said nothing, they're turning a dark black color
Hilarious!

A rustic and chard type of shrimp 😀
maybe because you remove their head off

I learned more in the first 3 minutes of this video than 30 years from my father.

Very Helpful
The video is called The Best Way to Grill Shrimp not how to season it lol Thanks for the tips
Carlo DeVito Jr 💋
Carlo DeVito Jr you can't grill it without seasoning
Course you can
would take 1 sentence to describe the seasoning
It would have been helpful if you told us what seasonings you use. Just saying.
Good
Very useful short Vid' - Thanks :)
So pre heat to high. Cook for approx. 2 minutes on each side..thanks.
The best that's a bold statement
What's seasoning was this any one know?

cajun seasoning
black pepper, crushed red pepper, old bay or cajun seasoning. Oil the hell out of them prior.
+EJConrad true
Google Search is a wonderful thing.
Hi, can u do the same without oil, or any extreme low calorie alternative.
Thank you. I effin' love you right now.

So this guy skewered the shrimp, put oil on them, then doesn't say what the seasoning is.... What the shit.....
it's a grilling technique video not a recipe video!
Wouldn’t you want to soak the skewers for a few hours.. regardless I like that shrimp technique

god way to put them on a stich but either than that you didnt show us how to grill :/
If don't provide sauce recipe what is point, went to link and no search results....booo
“Mixture of spice.” By all means, do NOT specify cuz that’s why we search for things on YT… to not learn details 🤨
Real men don't use gas
Figure out spices on your own people. No one needs to hold your hands.
