Great vid thank you. I have second hand low (1300 mile) 2020 s4 and that has been giving me a clutch light but no issues then I got it lightly stuck on some dunes and now first to second slips and third-forth. Where do I purchase a new basket or can I just replace the plates. I am an advanced car builder and do all my maintenance on my talons. Also is it possible to over service. Did this cause this?
You have to buy the whole clutch basket assembly. I would just shop around the different parts houses like partzilla and Ron Ayers. This clutch got fried by winching out someone in reverse.
What about normally worn clutches? What are some signs, mine doesn't disengage when coming to stops and stalls, sometimes stalls at start because it lets it out too fast...
@Joan Rodriguez Hes definitely a big honda fan boy lol Nothing wrong with that but if this rarely happens why are there 9k views on this video I guess everyone just enjoys seeing what the clutches look like 🤷♂️
@Jesse Sowards idk, you're here watching it, I don't have a talon or clutch issues & I'm here watching it. Either way clutches are a wear & tear maintenance item.. It's hard to argue against Hondas in the reliability department across the board from generators to autos
@300 blAKout I was here watching bc my cousin was having clutch issues and was debating doing it himself or taking it to a dealer. After low gear being completely gone after buying it its been an aggrevation for sure. To be fair he bought it used from a dealer with like 1200 or so miles so partially the dealers fault. I like honda I would have bought one if I could have found one at the time but I'm not so big of a fan boy to not admit they have issues with the dct/clutching like it's not a common problem
So how did you preload the crankshaft sprocket spring as you install it, it is a impossible task to pre-load that the correct way without having the other covers off
Before i changed mine it would still shift though the gears just not correctly. Now when it shifts outta 1 to 2 there nothing at second and Has no forward drive. Any sensor I could have broke or plug on back cause this or did I not get them deep enough?
I’m having issues with the 4wd on my talon, indicator light comes on but does not engage, i4wd light isn’t flashing, thinking blown diff, somebody mentioned clutches. Have any idea?
Recently just got in deep mud and not sure if I burnt my clutches or broke sub Trans or Trans inside motor.....what was yours doing when you burnt the clutches......mine was rattling really bad when running in park and shut off and kinda jumped when I tried putting it in gear.....I messed with emergency relief valve and now it won't crank almost acts like motor is locked up??? Any help would be great, go service manual and gonna be doing the work myself just not sure where to start
@@MudPuppyOffroad thanks for reply, thinking iv damaged something internally buy rekon I will find out soon, starting with clutches then sub, then motor????
My 2019 talon x will not shift out of second in low. In high doesn’t come out of first. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Dash isn’t working and just rebuilt front differential @mud puppy
I have a 16 pioneer 1000 3 I think I need a clutch I don't think I live near you how can I line up get a price for you to do the work or getting the machine to you ?
@@MudPuppyOffroad if you think you might be interested I think you would have a better shot at it than me I can fix a lot of stuff from what I have seen you are very technical and check things most over look think about it thank for replying
I have a clunk sound initially when I hit the gas after I put it in reverse on my Talon R. The sound has remained the same since it started doing it and just about does it ever time. Wondering what it possibly is or means for the future.
Just FYI I can change the clutchs on my 900s in 8 mins or less very easy. But thanks for the info. I just got done rebuilding a 900 xp engine took about 12 days because if waiting on parts but super easy to do.
Removing both the clutches on my razor 900 wasn't too bad... However rebuilding them to change a one-way bearing or to retune them or do just about anything was a huge pain in the ass requiring a lot of time and special tools. Especially if the belt was wound up in both of them like it usually was lol popo clutching is junk
OK thanks man I never doubt my talon until I heard that twice we’ve always been very careful when engaging the low gear but I do let my girlfriend drive and she took off without it in gear once recently, also I’ve heard people say they only get the pop when doing a three point turn around which we were actually doing both times so I’m just gonna assume it’s good I’ve never had a hot clutch light come on or anything like that, As long as it doesn’t break down when I go all the way up to ride royal blue next month will be good LOL
Hey buddy I hate to say this but I just change the fluid in my sub trans after a little talk and it was very very milky from going to hog Waller so I bet you money that had a lot to do with it I just went for a test ride on new fluid and is doing much better LOL by the way what fluid do you run in your sub trans?
Did you ever find a place to buy just the clutch disc to rebuild the old one?
Nope
Wry detailed video & while I don’t need right meow I know where to go when I do!

That's not a thing in a talon... look at the parts diagram. There are tricks to do it on a p1000 though
2022 p1000 doesn't have the split gear either
Any tips on replacing the clutch on a 2021 pioneer 700-4? Thanks
Nice video, but next time...... much slower camera action.... let viewer really take a look at stuff....
This might sound crazy but you can pause the video

Can I put a talon clutch in my pioneer 1000? Is it any better than a pioneer 1000
Clutch is the same
Wanting to do the internal gear reduction on mine, looks easy other than grinding the case, have you done one yet?

How much do you charge to replace talon 1000x4 clutches
900 parts and labor
When do you want to do it

What did you do to keep the preload on your split gear from the crankshaft?
I think that's only a Pioneer thing
Where you located? Would love for you to fix mine!
Good to know. Bring it to you 🤣
How do I check the condition of my talon clutches? I’ve gotten a super loud pop when taking off twice this week
The pop is very rarely the clutches it's usually the sub transmission because your low range is not adjusted properly or you damaged the subtrans
