I met Watt in Seattle in 1990. Bought a tshirt from him, he was selling his own merch. Coolest dude ever. All kinds of fans were hounding him so I handed him a ten dollar bill and said, "ten dollars?" and he gave me a tshirt, we shook hands and I said, "you guys ripped". He was so kindly and cool he just said thank you.
Classic Watt !!!!!! If you ever go see Mike play, that`s only half the show. If you want the whole experience, you MUST stop by the merch counter and meet Mike and get the Spiel. You never know what you`re gonna hear or learn !!! I always make sure I have something to sign and to ask or talk about.
My son and I just saw Mike in MSSV a few weeks ago and hung out with him and Ed fROMOHIO Crawford in Pittsburgh Pa. Got pictures with both of them and took videos including encore where Ed joined MSSV for The Red and The Black by Blue Oyster Cult. Got some more things signed too. I ALWAYS enjoy a Mike Watt Night !!!@@TheMusicRoomWA
I have never seen an interviewee with bare feet. Mike is a different cat, no doubt. I remember my wife was having her hair done back in So Cal and the hair dresser had a little photo of Watt playing bass. My wife recognized it and said, "My husband thinks he is the best bass player in the world..." and the woman said, "He is!" Turned out it was Watt's sister. I went to maybe 20 fIREHOSE gigs back in the day, including the legendary 1987 show with X and Jerry Lee Lewis.
I just realized Watt is very Zen. He's in the moment embracing life, eyes wide open. He mentioned the Zen Koan in an interview I watched recently and now I see it in him.
This interview is great! Thank you so much for posting it. I do wish I could go in and fix the auto generated subtitles/captions. The way Mike talks is so specific to him first and foremost, and then to SoCal, I'm concerned that folks who rely on the subtitles will miss out on his humor and great turns of phrases because the subtitles are wrong.
I can cook and I do it a lot. I cook, grill and bake all kinds of foods, including Indian. It started at it when I was a kid about 40 years ago. What she said about getting good at cooking, how she described it, is bang on.
Yeah yeah. That's the same thing with Italian food. I've been a cook/chef for 45 years. At the last place I had some control over the menu I made a deconstructed lasagna. I made a proper Italian red sauce (marinara). It has to cool slow for 3 - 4 hours, for all those flavors to marry and develop. When it was done, the waitstaff got to try it first. One server pulled me aside later and said, "Omg, that sauce! It tastes like my gramma's sauce, how'd you do that?". That's how, you have to spend some time to make that food properly.
He seems like most down to earth man you could ever hope to meet. And I do hope I meet him one day.

I was almost going to see him front Flipper earlier this year! It would have been amazing but Mike got sick and had to cancel.

I've never seen anyone eat quite like Watt. He's a different breed of cat and that's cool as hell.

I love how grassroots this show is haha. It fits perfectly with Mike's style, as you said. Great vibes all around.
Man, I love Watt. He just encompasses love and life. I had the privilege of meeting him and I continue to learn.
This is awesome all around! Mike Watt reminds me of the Peter Falk character Lt. Columbo. Cool guy!
Of all those who died waaaayy too soon, the ones I miss the most are Cliff Burton and D Boon.
Okay, Hendrix too!
Pizza Butt and Crapper Barrel and Booger Fling and CrapDonald's. LMAO! Gotta love Watt's subtle sense of humor.
Which Minutemen album had "Middle Age Holding Pisses and Shits"?

Mike Watt has always been about the music and eating.

Mikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Why do u call it coriander as we do (british) rather than cilantro (italian name for the herb)?
Cilantro is the leaf and coriander is the seed - she ground the seed into a powder.
I hate curry but I love Mike Watt!
Great bass player. Food critic and dietician not so much. I think chow is a navy term
It is a navy term. I think his dad was in the navy when there was still a base in Pedro.
He is not a marlon blando. That's for sure!
Stay away from lame chow
The big smaage
Yea, the good stuff comes from Spain that’s odd to me actually (must be true though)
That lady is Indian?
Too much SALT!!!!!!!!!
