I think they passed a lot of people based off looks rather than talent,, they’re looking for people who can ace modeling then go and train to become singers or dancers. I could see why they picked the red velvet cover singer and the Australian boy,, it’s because of their face. The girl has great potential for makeup promotions and the boy for high end fashion once her grows up and his features get more defined. Idk I just feel like we shouldn’t shit on the people who got passes because they obviously got it for a reason.

@C.O. Trust me, you are not too old. I feel like everyone is misusing the term koreaboo now and it's as if it's just a word that can be thrown around. A koreaboo is someone who tries to be korean, acts korean and/or calls themself korean (and isnt). If someone wants to work under a korean company when they aren't korean (or just arent asian) doesn't make them a koreaboo. If they work under the company only because it's a korean company, thats fetishisation, but not being a koreaboo. But if they want to work under the company so they can be called a korean model, that's koreaboo. The whole point of a koreaboo is someone who tries to act/be korean. Not someone who wants to work with a korean company.
Yeah, most of them just wanted to pursue their dreams (most were kinda cringey to watch ngl) but they're obviously not a koreaboo 👀.. unless they call themselves Korean/try to look like one stereotypically/joining this just to meet their Kidols or something then ig that can be considered a Koreaboo
THIS. i want to audition for a few korean entertainment companies, not to meet stars and stuff, but to keep my options open. kpop especially is a mix of a lot of my biggest passions, but that doesnt mean all i want to be is a kpop star. im as open to becoming a western stationed star as i am a star stationed in korea. also, korea (and china but mandarin is a very challenging language) has the whole vigorous training system which i want to go through as discipline and to improve my skills. (sorry i just needed to let that out)
@@cloudsynnosophy7181 I'm in the EXACT same boat!! I haven't actually auditioned for anything yet. I don't even want to actually speak the language, but to just go thru the system and work along side hard working people who have the same goals.
When you think about, how many koreaboos are in that room? You shouldn't join a company just to meet your idols or because you like listening to kpop. Those shouldn't be your ONLY reasons. You should do it because it is your dream and should be doing it for yourself. That's why I applaud SM for weeding people like that out.

its easier to get in during the first stage I believe, since they’re looking for people who might possibly have potential. as it moves on to stuff like stage two and stage three, it gets harder and more people are sent away. by the time people are allowed to officially become a trainee, theres way less people and there’s most likely going to be multiple ppl who end up being dropped by their company so that’s why they cast a lot.
@Jovita Li [Student] also that lol, but honestly it seems they passed a lot of people. then again its not like this necessarily is an audition to a big3 company (although esteem is related to sm).

I don't see the problem with non-asians auditioning, they were giving the opportunity. I don't see a sign saying no non-asians. Another thing why is it cringe when a non-asian doesn't pass when they dance or sing, but when an Asian does it it's okay. ಠ_ಠ Not only that but it's rude! Some people have came from far away to audition and some have to get courageous to audition as well. Not only that but some of the people auditioning for here, it's been their dream or goal. So don't throw shade or anything at these people if you haven't auditioned or have courage to do this in front of people.
I think it has to do more with people that genuinely aren't good enough to make it in the industry but want to do it in order to meet their favorite idols. For a lot of trainees with actual talent that are trying to debut, this is their last shot at a successful life.
Another thing, It's also the fact that a lot of these people are only auditioning because they like kpop and not because they have the passion for dancing, singing, or performing.

true and many don't realize that the panel has been in the entertainment industry for decades, the ceo probably spent 20 years alone honing in on skills that allow her to now scout talent globally. many of the passes also rely on how much the company is willing to invest in the individual before debut, and if they never do, there is still a possibility for them to get a recommendation after their training ends. modeling is evolving so evidently they're looking for new identities that can serve as a backbone for future trends and luxury brands.

For those who are wondering why they give pass to some, despite the lack of idol- potential characteristics, was because esteem was artist/idol and modelling agency, if they see them lack of idol-like talent but have looks and good posture they will put him/her to the modelling category, and to those who auditioned for modelling and got accepted they still have many auditions levels to pass on (they have to show their talents too,) until they officially become a trainee, they will strain them until they find the field a trainee has more potential in. Just like Lucas of NCT as what i know he auditioned for modelling but then he debuted as an idol not a model.

Idk I just feel like we shouldn’t shit on the people who got passes because they obviously got it for a reason.
ok im gonna be real i dont think they understand how to choose good contestants based on work and talent like ive sang and danced less than a year but could easily ace this competition on how they judged everyone
come into my van yeah based on talent for sure but they’re a modeling agency before that,, like they said they let their models explore their passions afterwards
because this an Esteem audition (which is a SM modelling sub company) and not a SM one. SM auditions are more based on talent, dancing and singing
Did you forgot that this is a modelling agency?
@@8izzy if the idols didn't look good or have a special charm, no one going to support them. Korean entertainment industry base on look and charm over talent that just fact. Personal i also start to support a group that one of the member have the face that attract my attention.

C.O. Like three of those people were your age or older and they passed. Never give up!
@C.O. its OK fighting
@C.O. Trust me, you are not too old. Modeling is kinda just like in acting, where there are all kinds of people who play all different kinds of characters; in other words theres an actor for every character, no matter how you look or how old you are. Anyone could play a character, especially if they are professionally styled for their particular job, as most often professional models are. So, there's makeup and a piece of clothing for every model lol. Don't fall for the age excuse~ It's way too common! But you are special! Because God made only one you! ^_^
C.O. No one’s ever too old, Don’t let age get in the way of dreams!
(I'm a little scared to make it due to all the hate towards Caucasian kpop singers.) but I really want to do kpop, just because I absolutely love dancing and singing. I don't even want to actually speak the language, but to just go thru the system and work along side hard working people who have the same goals.
@@elizabethpage4670 i wanna learn the language and all that bc east and southeast asian cultures have always been very interesting for me jdvnjkfdbhj
Exactly
When you think about, how many koreaboos are in that room? You shouldn't join a company just to meet your idols or because you like listening to kpop. Those shouldn't be your ONLY reasons. You should do it because it is your dream and should be doing it for yourself. That's why I applaud SM for weeding people like that out.
sm?
Esteem is a modeling company under SM entertainment
you do know Esteem is SM's subsidiary right?
Rather than koreaboo in think those people just came to pass time, they probably thought "oHh a Kpop audition! Lemme do a cover! " since a lot did covers
how do you know they’re doing all of this to meet their idols? i applaud these people for having courage to try and achieve their dreams. Also, if your gonna say that they’re doing this to meet their idols you better have the same mindset for the people in east and sea who also audition

its easier to get in during the first stage I believe, since they’re looking for people who might possibly have potential. as it moves on to stuff like stage two and stage three, it gets harder and more people are sent away. by the time people are allowed to officially become a trainee, theres way less people and there’s most likely going to be multiple ppl who end up being dropped by their company so that’s why they cast a lot.
@Jovita Li [Student] also that lol, but honestly it seems they passed a lot of people. then again its not like this necessarily is an audition to a big3 company (although esteem is related to sm).
shinee kings you do know there’s 4 rounds. This audition and then the same ones that passed go through 3 other auditions so they slowly taper down. And there was more than 200 people there so
@@gravityarts_lhf3234 yeah i know, i mentioned it in my other comment. theres some cases where companies will hold auditions like these and not pass a single person, but that happened with a big3 company (sm) so i dunno why im surprised that esteem passed more people lmao.

Some people have came from far away to audition and some have to get courageous to audition as well.
Not only that but some of the people auditioning for here, it's been their dream or goal. So don't throw shade or anything at these people if you haven't auditioned or have courage to do this in front of people.
Fun fact, in 2019, the Korean government stated that they wanted to see different races and cultures in kpop :)

A lot of you guys in the comments don’t seem to realise that these guys are professionals and they know what they’re doing.
true and many don't realize that the panel has been in the entertainment industry for decades, the ceo probably spent 20 years alone honing in on skills that allow her to now scout talent globally. many of the passes also rely on how much the company is willing to invest in the individual before debut, and if they never do, there is still a possibility for them to get a recommendation after their training ends. modeling is evolving so evidently they're looking for new identities that can serve as a backbone for future trends and luxury brands.
