Loreen Talhaoui utklassade hela Europa 2012 när hon vann Eurovision med superhiten "Euphoria". Nu är hon redo för Melodifestivalscenen igen.
Loreen Talhaoui är en svensk artist och låtskrivare. Båda föräldrarna är från Marocko, men Loreen är född och uppvuxen i Stockholm och Västerås.
Hon deltog i Idol 2004 genom att hennes syster anmälde henne till tävlingen utan hennes vetskap. Innan hade hon aldrig stått på scen, och i tävlingen slutade hon på en fjärde plats. Här blev Loreen ett namn, men hon uppmärksammades inte så mycket tiden efter, utan det stora genombrottet kom när hon vann Melodifestivalen och Eurovision Song Contest 2012 med "Euphoria".
Låten har mer än 1,2 miljoner sålda exemplar världen över och 100 miljoner streams. Samma år som segern i Eurovision vann Loreen pris i MTV Europe Music Award för Best Swedish Act, två Rockbjörnar för Årets kvinnliga artist och Årets låt samt blev nominerad i World Music Awards.
Att ställa upp i Melodifestivalen igen var inget lätt beslut för Loreen.
- Jag bestämde dagen innan presskonferensen att jag skulle vara med, och jag tänkte så mycket olika saker. Ska jag eller ska jag inte? Varför? Och så kom jag på att jag har något att säga och skulle vilja förmedla till alla. Och vad det är får ni se i februari, säger Loreen.
Bidraget som Loreen gör comeback med i Melodifestivalen heter "Statements".
- Den handlar om situationen i världen i dag. Men framförallt om att ge folk kraft och inspiration. Det är vad vi behöver i dag, säger Loreen.

This is her best song imo. I like it even more than Euphoria. It's just crazy to me that she didn't even make it to the final of Melodifestivalen with this. I hope she performs "Statements" next year when she performs at Eurovision 2024 as an intervall act. All of her 4 Melfest songs are great. She should do a medley.

@@prof982 For me, (and the performance kind of added to the meaning), the song is the rebellion of ordinary, everyday people against injustice, war and suffering, while people in power just make statements and don't do enough in their power to stop it, they just talk about it.

I REALLY hope that in 2024 we are getting a Loreen medley interval act including My Heart Is Refusing Me, Euphoria, Statements and Tattoo. This is what we deserve. Personally, I think Tattoo is the weakest out of her 4 Melfest entries, and I was rooting A LOT for Finland, but I’m happy with her winning because she deserves everything, there isn’t a second artist like her anywhere in the world. ❤️

I think it's an honor for all jewish people for her to perform that but folks was really mad and the son of the woman wanted to sue her since it was a recent incident that took place (1985). That's the main reason why she didn't go to Eurovision. Sadly. Because Sweden was mad at her and saw her as filth for it.

Loreen is in her own category, unique, powerful and her songs and performances always have a deeper meaning. I feel so embarrassed that Robin Bengtsson won the competition and she didn't win or even make it to the finals. It's disappointing that the majority voted for something so generic. It's like they don't have any souls or personalities.

This masterpiece sadly never went, but I guess this created another masterpiece with Tattoo.
On behalf of Sweden, I apologise that we didn't send Loreen to Eurovision. I think some people's brains have been damaged by the amount of crappy unoriginal pop music that plays on the radio and always tops the chars on Spotify, so when good music is presented to them, they don't understand it.

@@carro6030 Yeah so that is why all the political songs in Eurovision before was all in my head? No no, ESC have always been political. Always one or two political songs every year and Loreens song were too good for Mello. However after the Ukraine war started it all became 10 times more political in both ESC and in Mello. Sweden were always against politics in Mello put now we have no problem with allowing a Ukraine refugee sing about Ukraine in a very political way and have her win her heat. Then why did people get upset with Loreen sing about a political event? Maybe I should sing in Mello being for Putin and Russia? Like it's just politics so people should allow it if they allow anti-Putin songs. The hypocritical thinking of the people is just wow. I'm not for Putin but I wanted to make a point.

Way ahead of it's time. Back in 2017 no one got it, and it was still to early after Euphoria. But had she competed with it last year she would have easily won Melo and even ESC, no doubt about that. She has something to say, knows how to say it and is miles above others

After SF4, Loreen herself stated and I quote "I don't do this to win Eurovision, I've already done that. I just want to perform this song one more time." I don't think that Loreen cares about winning or qualifying for the final. What she cares is whether her message has a receiver. So instead of bashing Swedish people in every video, I think we all should think about what Loreen had to state while she was making this song. If we understand what she tries to say, it's all good. Loreen would want only this.

I swore I would die furious that Statements didn't even make the MelFest final in 2017. LIKE WTF??? It's one of my favourite ever Eurovision performances ever. But Tattoo is helping me heal that. I feel like the universe is soothing me, saying it wasn't her time. I love so many of Loreen's songs. Statements is insanely good. I hope this year soooo many people will look back and say THAT DIDN'T QUALIFY?? 😁🥰💖
The reason why it wasn't qualified was because people got very mad at her for the performance of ''the woman in the handbag'' incident that took place in 1985. People got very mad and the son to the woman wanted to sue her. Main reason why it didn't go to Eurovision, sadly. I always wanted it and saw her performance as an honor to everyone that has been strong and had the will to say ''no, I deserve to exist'' (more references from other things is shown in the performance as Lucia, Jesus, Jeanne d'Arc etc. And also performance of etc freedom on the barricades). People got way mad about the performance to want to have it qualify. They called it filthy and all sorts of things, said really mean things about her as well. It's a real disappointment really. It deserved to qualify.
The trauma is healing, statements forever will be my #1 of her melodi songs, but I'm happy tattoo won, because she deserved it for giving us best performance and being robbed in 2017

Mine too. The best song to not qualify to eurovision. Second is keiino's monument. They chose Tix over that masterpiece. But this song by Loreen - especially retrospectively seems to portray power over the whole segment of music as an industry. Everything was perfect. The song, the performance and staging. Truly an outstanding combo.
I felt it in 2017 and I feel it now. The frustration that she didn't even go to the finals with this song. Her voice, her act. Let's hope she wins this year with Tattoo, it would forgive the scandal that this one didn't go further. love
i love how people keep returning to watching this piece of art. this is indeed one of the best things i have ever enjoyed in my life, as i rewatch this performance everytime like for the first time since that very moment, and i guess it's just not something europe was ready for back then
upd: she returned with the same amount of quality though in more esc/pop-oriented form, and her victory actually brights up my mind as she apparently tried to make the art-revenge duh
Sometimes, you have to take some bumps in order to progress and be as successful as you can be. This is the perfect example of it.
Statements is an amazing song that definitely deserved to win the 2017 Melodifestivalen, but Loreen going from a recent Eurovision winner at the time, getting eliminated before the final of the national selection, to a two-time winner of the same selection and Eurovision six years later, with a winning song that's a commercial success, is such an inspirational journey. Thinking about that motivates me to not give up on my personal goals.
I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way when I think of Statements now.

In my opinion one of the best songs and performances EVER in Eurovision. I still remember the first time I heard it, só convinced this would win the whole Eurovision.. Still can't understand this didn't even qualify for the finale of Melodifestivalen.

@@taylana3331 You are correct. I think the main reason Tattoo and Euphoria sounds/feels/looks simular is 1. Loreen's voice/tone (of course) 2. How she uses her voice (same singing style - for example she doesn't sing like that in Statements) 3. How in both songs she use long frasing of lyrics 4. How she express emotion/facial expression 5. How she moves around stage/body language.
If other artist would sing Tattoo, it would sound/look/feel totally different (comparing to Euphoria) because Loreen chooses to use her voice/body simular comparing to Euphoria.
