Denna låt och framträdande är så mycket mer, som en film som vinner alla de stora priserna i typ alla kategorier, för att den är inte bara bra, den är djup, betydelsefull, med en stark handling och ett passionerat framförande, med starka intressanta karaktärer, och en mäktig & vacker röst. Hon borde ha vunnit Eurovision :(

Swedes did her dirty in 2017 not voting for this. But I think this song is grower, you have to listen to it a couple of time to really get it.

"Statements" was for too serious and complex for the Swedish collective mind to vote for and stand behind.

I don't even care if we win, because somehow "we" already did.
I was confident this would win easily. I overestimated the Swedish people though, I think this is the best work in all of her Eurovision related acts. I was shocked it got knocked out so thoroughly.
i wish this was the song she competed with this year.
You should also check out the performance she did of her song paper lights, she performed it on a melfest final a few years ago

Im not gonna lie, i was so upset than this did not even qualify for the final (yes this didn't even make the final...). To this day i am still mad about it.

People in Sweden thought this was "too out there", "too creepy", "too much" etc. I remember liking it, and I still do, but if you compare this to Tattoo, I can sort of see what people meant back in 2017. Both Euphoria and Tattoo are unique in a way that you can't beat. This one didn't really give that unique "wow, I'm instantly in love"-feeling. I still think it's good though and Loreen's vocals are aaamazing, always ❤ thanks for reacting to this song, I really enjoyed it!

I think the Swedes not voting for this grew up by now, gained some experience and IQ points and probably would have voted for it today. 😮
I still love that song though even though Loreen's performance is genius 😭 I also like "Kiss you goodbye" which was the song that beat Loreen in the duel
How did this not win
The year 2017 when loreen competed with this in melodifestivalen was a disaster, first of all yes she was at the top of the odds to win the whole thing but only made it from heat 4 to second chance and then got beat in the duel (correct me if it's the wrong heat), she never made it to the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen and this was one of the many times the broadcaster SVT was called out for making a "vote fraud" according to fan base

This was way better than both euphoria and tattoo - the truth is that swedes just have no taste in music whatsoever and whenever masterpieces like this appear we decide to vote it out to basic pop. As a swede myself, I’ve never really recovered from this getting eliminated, but at least if she wins eurovision this year it will heal a part of that wound. Love your reaction
I disagree, Euphoria and Tattoo is just as good as Statements but Statements is the most unique one and I like the fact that all Loreens songs represent a different message/meaning but still have a very simular style and feel to them that is just so Loreen, all very artistic and pleasant to both ears and eyes. I love all Loreens songs, with Euphoria being the most iconic one, My heart is refusing me the most beautiful one at least the accustic version, Statements the most heavy and dark one and very politically relevant too (deserved final!), Tattoo less original lyrics but still at the same time not even generic at all it's actually very good and the performance the best she ever done! Loreens voice gives so much power, hope and love to us that it touches the soul. It's not that we swedes have bad taste in music more like swedes who watch Mello are brainwashed and too used to generic pop that they have a hard time accepting true diversity. But I feel like that is starting to change since more and more people are getting tired of the too safe songs that we usually send to ESC.

Much of it was because of the idiotic voting system, that was later revised to assign each vote inte the voter's respective age group. A lot of Anton Hagman's votes may as well have been from people under 20, we don't know, but those couple of years were highly biased towards the younger artists.
And this year she send... basic pop.

For some reason when I first heard the song live it seemed weird and not that good to me but after I listened to it again after that on youtube with headphones instead of a shitty TV speakers it really came through how good it actually was. Same exact thing with her 2011 song "My heart is refusing me" which I think might be her best entry to me but it just didn't hit me right away on the TV which is something I think made her lose since everyone is watching it live through their shitty TV speakers. I think the META in these competitions is to literally master the beats through a television speaker instead of radio for the live performance which is apparent that most don't which is why it's mostly Dance kind of beats or soft music like simple guitar and drum beats/violin that wins because those sound good on TV.

Look, swedes doesn’t understand the power and meaning of the song, especially the audience that has the power in the semi final. So when the audience voted they voted for the song with the best “vibe” if you get what i mean, they didn’t really understand the powerful meaning behind this song which, in my opinion, might be the reason she didn’t qualify for finals, cause i can assure you she would’ve done really well if the jury had most power in semi finals.
There’s something wrong with the pace of the song in the video you watch. It is a little bit faster and her tone is higher in the original video. But she is definitely amazing, a true vocalist!

This song would've won if it wasnt for politics. The woman with the bag represents an image from the past when there was a nazi demonstration in sweden and a photo of an older woman was taken when she hit a "new nazi" in the head. The family had to be protected for many years because of that. And the womans son wanted to sue loreen for using her in the performance

I loved this song, but I think the whole concept was a bit too complicated for people.
This was too political and too much for the viewers to comprehend rather than “entertaining” and therefore it lost.
