Re-watching this in 2024 after a ceremony to honour the German crew. Fantastic celebration of women in the armed forces as well as a timely reminder of war and unfortunately how little we have learned since 1919.
3, 4, 5, and 6 oars in the Navy boat in the middle 1000m did the dirty work and the bow pair and stern pair sat up and led elegantly strong in the last 500m. Gritty. I would like to see USNA in the Ladies Plate every other year to the mixed boat King's Cup.
@@Whosayswho79 I see. When I watch a clip on the RUclips website, I might look at the recommended clips, but otherwise my attention is 100% on the clip. I never read the comments while watching a clip. Again, sorry if my comment about the outcome of the race spoiled it for you.
More than a repeat of Operation Overlord, this was a repeat of the 1936 Olympic games in Munich, when the US team beat Germany in the finals. Book recommendation for the full story: "The Boys in the Boat" (by Daniel James Brown).
If only this race was on July 4

Particularly nice blades and finish from the bow pair. applause.
Both the American crew and the German crew rowed really well. I'm glad Team USA won.
Thanks for the spoiler ....
@@Whosayswho79 Sorry, I didn't know people read the comments before watching the clip.
@@normanoro206 I think that's 'while' - not before.....

Overlord destroys the German army once again
Who did misslead you boy?
That steering was terrible for both boats, thanks to the drone camera you can see the zigzags costing the lead of each boat
Omaha beach

I guess there’s not enough men in this world.
