What a superb example of good coxing. There were a lot of good technical calls throughout, rather than the ubiquitous and not terribly informative cheerleading we so often hear in many coxing videos. He was constantly keeping the crew focused on individual pieces of technique that ensured they were all working together. This is a masterclass for aspiring coxes.

Why do two of the Yale rowers have bucket hats on? Heat dissipation must be horrendous

Great display of rowing. Bit disrespectful and untraditional, though, for the cox to call easy there before the line.

if they have to race again very soon in the championship then it makes sense they should conserve energy

At Henley there are gentlemen’s rules. This means that you are not to humiliate your opponent, if leander want to they could go all out and finish a 8 boat lengths earlier than their opponent but this is considered disrespectful. Thus the cox has to slow the boat down so massive gaps don’t appear

@@Jimmyjon992 no at henley it's only one race a day, but it can be 5 days in a row

What are you talking about, etiquette at Henley dictates that if you have a huge lead you don't push all the way to the line, just win with a boat length if possible. And of course they need to not burn their legs for the next day. Don't talk about stuff you don't know, especially to call them disrespectful

@@rowyeah456Take the pressure/rate down, yes. Paddle through the line, sure. Calling easy there and doing hands away before the line - impressive, but not standard/respectful.

Disappointed by Yale. Raggged, tired, understroking all the way down.

Yale competes against US College crews with international Olympic talent, they don’t do too well when they are evenly matched
