Seeing this,we need a Killzone 1-3 Remastered Collection. Right. Freakin'. NOW. Just imagine these titles in a graphical quality matching standarts today😱
Ugh. As much as I would love to play those games again, I don't want just some simple graphic remaster like it's not ps2,3 days anymore it's ps5. I crave some true next gen shit. Linear stories and unmanipulatable environments are OLD
@CallMePsycho I have no idea man. I expected so much more in gaming by now. But it's all just the same old with better graphics and mictrotransactions..
Another series in the books! I had a lot of fun revisiting the Killzone series today as it had been a while since I'd fought against the Helghast. Enough from me though, what are your thoughts on Killzone Shadow Fall and what's your favourite game in the series? Let me know in the comments!
Now then mate, just happened upon your channel while searching for a review/retrospective on Shadowfall. To say I'm impressed by the content would be am understatement 👍 Due to work, family, health and a bloody global pandemic (resulting in more work for me...) I haven't picked up my PS4 controller for about 8 months! Finally things have calmed down a little so keen to boot up the old girl and get my teeth into something a little different to my past diet of Survival Horror and RTS games. I found Shadowfall lurking at the back of the cabinet and initially couldn't even remember buying it, but I played the previous titles and genuinely enjoyed them. Despite their being overwhelmingly negative reviews online re the game, I found your retrospective fair, balanced, very well researched and presented. . So, call me glutton for punishment lol, but I'm gonna give it a go! Just subbed and really looking forward to viewing more of your content! Thanks for helping me make up my mind bud! Stay safe and take care out there!!

Great video love killzone and its always nice to see someone talking about it. Just a note but it wasn't vekta that offered half the planet but earth that forced the issue due to the isa and vekta disobeying orders and invading helgan in the first place when earth had told them to blockade the planet only
Vekta belonged to the Helgast until Earth's government screwed them, crushed them and banished the survivors to the more hellish of the two worlds they controlled prior to the war. Giving them half of what was once theirs as a gesture of reconciliation might not be the smartest idea but I can see the logic.
I find Shadow Fall a frustrating game. I LOVE what it wants to do from a gameplay/story standpoint. I still replay campaign missions years later because of the gameplay. But certain levels are poorly designed still, the story is AWFUL, and major changes make this hardly feel like Killzone.
Really well point around 13:10 regarding how Killzone changed in the move to 3 from 2. I absolutely adored Killzone 2’s unique and heavy gun feel with low auto aim. Killzone 3 to me felt like they were listening to people who didn’t like 2 and they kinda dropped a lot of what made 2 feel so special seems to me. They just ended up like you said with the game feeing and playing more like everything else whereas going back to replay Killzone 2 today it still stands out and feels really special in the FPS landscape. I’ve got a pretty beefy rig and played both recently again in RPCS3 and I have to say I broadly prefer the art direction and gun play in 2 over 3 myself. I was pretty surprised how much generous auto-aim there is in 3, but it goes beyond that - the “heaviness”/deliberate nature of 2 just doesn’t feel like it’s there as much in the 3rd one for me. They also removed your gun’s muzzle flash lighting the environment and enemies in real time which it did in 2 and even cast its own shadows. In KZ2 just the act of shooting a Helghast soldier feels very impactful with the bespoke enemy hit reactions, gore, weapon animations, and the muzzle flash shadow/light casting effect. That’s still there in 3, but it’s not quite the same. I’d also argue on another note that Visari and Radec were for me pretty solid villains to boot in the second outing and it might be relevant that KZ2 did have more Dev time than the other titles. I recently watched this brief video compilation and it always impresses me just how much work and skill must have gone into crafting KZ’s atmosphere and technology: ruclips.net/video/IP2uC1nqwvE/видео.html
Came here because not many people make Killzone videos expecting a sub par small RUclipsr but wow how do you only have 2k subs? Great video mate! Top quality stuff, As are your other ones, similar taste 😅 Have you ever played the infamous, ratchet & clank, dishonored or borderlands games?

Finished your killzone series and loved it, used to be my favourite gaming series. A lot of your retrospectives that I love are on Niche games that didn’t get too much mainstream attention but I loved playing eg saboteur, singularity. Is there any chance you have plans to do the resistance series? Would be brilliant to watch
Glad you enjoyed the series mate, I had a blast revisiting the Killzone series along with The Saboteur and Singularity. As for Resistance, absolutely expect a retrospective series at some point in the future!
Just a heads up the Stealth, all the diferent ways you can go about doing things really wasn't a new thing, all that was in Killzone one, Each Charactor you could play as had their own unique ways you could do Missions wether it was Rico, go in all guns blazing, Lugar Go in all stealth or Hakka. The secondary Weapon fire was something they added back too. I always thought how they chnaged how the game felt in terms of controls wa a Dis service to the Series, Througout out of the whole of the series the Heavy controls were the standard, it made the games stand out towards all the other Light floaty shooters and it gave Killzone that Hardcore gritty edge.
My main issue was the excessive enemy spawns. They didn't just respawn; they took the exact same positions their dead comrades were holding. There was an early mission in the forest where every time you killed a drop ship full of enemies, another drop ship would arrive and drop more enemies. I think a total of 7 or 8 drop ships arrived one after another. Like if you have that many drop ships, why don't you just send them at the same time? Who sends one dropship at a time and only after the previous one gets wiped? Can you imagine if D-Day was done that way? Just one lander at a time? Or just reduce the respawns. Sometimes enemies respawned so much I thought maybe the game glitched or I didn't reach a certain location to stop it.
Awesome video mate, really enjoyed the whole series of retrospectives, surprised Killzone Mercenary didn't get an mention in a similar way to Liberation, maybe it deserves it's own video? ;)

The part in Shadowfall where you have to get in that helicopter and wait for it to take off while Helghasts are swarming you FUCKIG BROKE ME.
