Philip is so incredibly underrated it's not even funny. This guy would smoke most guitar players off the stage! Style, Phrasing, and Technique put him in a class all by himself. Great Cover Guys!!!
My brother jay singh was a great drummer.passed away.playedwith Phillip.this song reminds me of him.
Herman Singh he was a lucky guy, may your brother rest in peace
RIP Legend❣❣❣Sorry for your loss❣❣❣God Bless you and Jesus Loves you all❤❣
Rest in peace brother
I’m 60 my man.
This shit still rocks even now don’t it?
We were young men sucking down beers and doobies back then in the 80’s for me rocking to Alvin Lee and co
Rock on yeahhhh
I originally clicked on it for the song, then cover of song because I think there could be more to offer in this deeply emotional song by having another band add more to it. As i started watching, I thought it was Johnny Dep goofing around, but when he started winding on the guitar…..man, I tell you…. I am an old dreamer of playing guitar…..this version brought back the fire of playing in my teenage years. Thank you so much. I am 56 now, not sixteen, but I feel 16 when I hear you play.😊
I believe Alvin Lee would be Blown away and Stunned at this rendition, it also has a sound of Jimi Hendrix in it.
Yes, I am getting the Hendrix sound too. Great version of save the world
Incredible! mind-blowing bends. Serious talent!
Phil goes way back to the days of Jeff Healey when he spent time with that group. A great talent and glad to see he is holding his own in a very tough and changing industry.
his talent is truly impressive great musician soulful voice ...very good
This guy has to love SRV, he has the same feel. Love it!
he's one of a million SRV clones
Urethra #BigDick Franklin except Phillip better than 99% of them
@@Luckyj714 Being "better than 99% of them" just means that there are still at least 9,999 other "SRV clones" who are better than he is. (The numbers don't lie.).
Personally, I'd rather hear a guitarist being original and authentic than hear yet another "clone" of a legendary player from the past. Between KWS, Johnny Lang, Eric Johnson and a whole myriad of others, the whole "SRV clone" thing has been done to death, and frankly, I'd rather listen to Stevie than any of his million+ clones, because at least he was original, authentic and above all, true to himself and his musical vision.
@@That70sGuitarist yes, statistically that is right. As for Eric Johnson (my personal favorite), I wouldn't say he is a clone in the slightest. Borrowing some techniques or licks from another guitarist does not designate that a person is a "clone" of that guitarist- EJ's originals are nothing like SRV anyways.
Yes, SRV is a legend and I love his music dearly, but the point of someone being a "Clone" by your standards in modern day does have positives. For one, people can somewhat experience at least a fraction of the sheer talent Stevie had on the guitar when watching a "clone's" live performance. Secondly, as in the case for a song like this, of which Stevie never did a cover of, we now have a cover that carries out that legacy/pays homage and gives us an idea of what Stevie would have done. Not to mention, it's just great music!
@@Luckyj714 I have often been favourably compared to SRV, despite the fact that by far the two greatest influences on my playing and tone have been Rory Gallagher and Billy Gibbons. I use a Vox amp and an S-type guitar (1993 Godin Artisan St-1) with a Danelectro Billion Dollar Boost and Pride Of Texas overdrive, plus a few other pedals (reverb, chorus, delay and even a Leslie simulator from time to time) but my playing, my tone and my feel are uniquely my own.
After a quarter century of playing other people's music their way, I resolved to find my own path; that was 15 years ago, and I've been much happier and more fulfilled as a musician since reaching that decision. Sure, I'll still do plenty of covers, but these days I play them my way instead of "so-and-so's way."
Wow I didn’t know Philip could sing like that. Man’s a living legend. Great song.
Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you made the song your own !
I hope that the guitar was 18.
Well, that beauty looks a bit older!
63 strat. Only the best for Mr sayce
amazing... just an awesome song .. you made it your own.
+Ringo Chen it belongs to alvin lee
I love Philip Sayce, his guitar playing is spectacular, great vocalist as well.
Plays it like a BOSS!
Excellent ! Alvin Lee can be proud
Amazing song, amazing performance.
ten years after...great cover
Excellent lead guitar man !! ;)
Indeed, just missing a real vocalist
vinobody i love his voice.
The drummer played with Ben Harper...killer!
Yes he replaced Jordan Richardson,
Jimmy Paxton.his father was a drummer also
Philip Sayce has to be one of the coolest people I know
It’s very good, I might do this soon 👍
that guitar
Here a lot of Jimi in there
Hell yeah
SUPER
He is the King!
Stevie lives, just awsome!
Excellent cover dude !!!!
And more heavier 😌
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
That SRV influence is amazing
Phillip You are fantastique! I love this video!
I liked this cover the best. It's very very good!!
I was looking at doing a blues cover of this tune, but damn, he just killed that shit! Great job brother!
Damn, that was incredible.
he definitely did not forget to rock during that song
that was incredible
♡
Wow 😯
Just wow.
Fantastic sauce, Bro.
Gonna see if I can buy an mp3 of that. So good.

Totally love this
MUITO, MUITO BOM! - Brazil 🇧🇷
Just awesome
Awesome!!!
WONDERFULL!!!
Great job pretty impressive
Great cover.
Right on Phill!
legend
WOW
nice version,,hendrix influence
much better than the studio versión
dude is disgusting! great tone keep Jimi alive!
Rob Lucas maybe Alvin Lee Too...
You mean Ten Years After :)
No great, but vintage
@@alexchurchill8602 song by ten years after, but definitely a hendrix tone
Wow. All I need to see is a large headstock, but that would be perfection. This is just going to have to do.
Julius Schwencke best strat tone comes from these early rosewood neck strats, this exact guitar isn’t an original 1963. but it’s the closest you can get, philip got this guitar from Fenders Custom Shop, their limited run of 1963 sunburst, one piece Ash body, veneer board rosewood neck of course with the skunk stripe. His white strat is a whole different ballgame, he calls that one mother and she’s beautiful. she’s a real ‘62.
@@benfarina3710 This guitar and Mother are both nearly fully original 1963's.
MADRE DE DIOS.
Great playing but what's more impressive is how his Strat stayed in tune till the end of the song.
So cool
Srv influence all Over it
cuz he's a srv clone...he's gud but not original at all
Urethra Franklin one when did Jimi or Stevie ever play id love to change the world? Just cause he has a strat and uses the same overdrive and fuzz doesn't mean he isn't original, I love how you can sit there and say that when you probably are still play smoke on the water
One it don't matter what song they do or don't play, i'm sure u search youtube den you'll see him covering the same songs they played too LOL. "just cuz he uses a strat and the same overdrive, fuzz, tube screamer, rotosphere/flange, tuning, licks" u lose kid deal wit it.
smoke on tha water is 2 hard for me I'm bored after killing tornado of souls and cemetary gates zzzz puts me to sleep just like your responses
Urethra #BigDick Franklin you must be high😂 I'm the biggest SRV fan (so serious I idolize him) but Phil puts so many twists into his playing.. nowadays anybody with a dirty blues tone is considered a SRV clone
jeah im hi but u my point, everybody a huge srv fan including all these niggas that copy him
awesome,,,
Not too shabby
Super good.
What stratocaster is that one please?
Thank you great version of a great song
2:07 - Mind status: BLOWN
Came from tropic thunder XD
One more thing, Philip - You could just stand in front of that mic and sing, and I would be OK with that. You have an amazing voice.
Massive sound from a three peice!
Sounds like he'd love to change the words.
Este tío es la puta hostia! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
HOLY SHIT
Johnny Depp meets Hendrix, meets Mayer meets Kravitz. This boy has some serious chops and a great understanding of sound in general. I need to go and play it like that, but without the incendiary leads.
Nice job
Can anybody make out what speakers he's using in his Super Reverb?????
got srv down hot !
Better cover out there
Some serious meat on dem bones.
Rocket Man...
what are you people talking about? this is a 'Ten years After' Alvin lee song. not a Hendrix song.
they're probably referring to his tone and how he embellishes the chords.
This is like I'd love to change the world inspired by a bit of GnR
good
What s the effects used in intro ?
נגינתו גדולה דומה לסטיבי ריי וואן
whatch da fingers nice
Stevie Ray Sayce.
did that drummer work with Stevie?
no
+Deeply Scarred Hippie yeah.
Diaphanous_Limerence no? chris layton is stevie’s drummer. he’s playing with dead and company currently
Ben Farina and kenny wayne shepherd right?
good but he's missing about 2thirds of Alvins notes
Is Jon snow the bassist?!
Curly Jon, then
Awesome but he needs a Gibson for the right sound .
jetta stole this song P.S. I love jetta and mastibs version of this song
why? its garbo my dude
Is this Johnny Depp???
Horrible rendition of an ultra classicl. No musical skills whatsoever.
Playing is inspired .... not a fan of the hipster John Mayer vibe on some of it.
guy can play. still, it's just a rehash of so many staid styles that offer nothing new. he's perfected the art of trying to sound so cool.
Frank Wellbinder who fucking plays like this dude.
Let us see you play
Sounds like Frank is a bit jealous..just sayin..
I had the pleasure of meeting Phil Sayce, he IS cool. The opposite of cool is someone who makes jealous comments on YT videos
pretty fucking ill
Great technician , but somehow I miss something....maybe he’s trying too hard?
Yea.... Johnny Depp wants that fucking hat back....
good
