In case you didn't know, that dude on the organ kinda recorded Pink Floyd's "The Wall" album, also played and recorded with Queen (The synth solo on "I Want to Break Free" is his), Freddie Mercury and Brian May's solo careers, Alice Cooper, Supertramp, plus 4 or 5 albums with Elton John. The man is a living legend. Fred Mandel, remember this name!
PS: Philip Sayce may not be a legend, but he is a force of nature! Good lord wtf did I just watched? Damn!!!!!
Thanks for that
For me Philip is a legend, once in a lifetime talent!
Love Philip, pretty amazing philip!❣️
Without a doubt Philip is legend just much different times.
Organ is the best part of this.
Yeah...it might be easier to list the people that Fred HASN'T played with at one time or another. His session resume reads like a music industry who's-who.
Man! This reminds me of Stevie at El Mocambo. I mean that as one of the best complements I could give to any guitarist.
Accurate🔥🔥🔥
A little Carlos Santana.
Oh man! U took me back there! I remember I used to record live broadcasts whenever my local rock station here in Toronto played any. Heard that this SRV dude was playing the El. Got my recorder ready. I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS HEARING!!! wanted to rush downtown to the El to see if was suffering any structure damage because the power from that trio was incomparable!!! Sounded so much like Jimi, but 100 times more technical but with the same magic. This Sayce performance is OFF THE CHARTS, but SRV @ the El is on another level.
people compare Phillip to srv and Jimi, but I think he stands on his own and I've never seen anyone play the way he does, the man is on another level!
Yup
Nope he stands after them but no originality of his own like Jimmy or SRV ...he copied n borrowed from them ....now he needs to develop so that when we hear him we see just him
Does this sound anything like Jimi or SRV? I don’t think so. You can always find similarities between his sound and sound of those two, but he plays his own way (never heard SRV shred up and down the scale) and has his own sound, I would never mistake his playing for other people. Unlike kws who seems to be a 1:1 carbon copy of srv :D I saw some footage from the bonamassa boat trip and kws was doing like an SRV impersonation or something. Philip blew these guys out the water but hey, at least they invited him.
@@spatnaspolecnost sure it does all the way SRV.....it does not mean he us not a great player....seems you are not a musician
Same Genre basically but Heavier and i totally agree with you.
WTF?!?!? I discovered Philip by an editing mistake and it turned out to be a sort of guitar genius?!?!? Truly amazing
Can't wait to get into a sound proof room and crank up the volume on my guitar and fail miserably at playing as good as this guy
Heartbreaking experience.
Yep, inspiration dies a miserable bloody death as soon as I pick the first note. Sadness.
Hahan
This video made me buy a strat :D absolutely amazing play
Same
My dad just texted me that he’s buying a strat because of this video.
Countless shares and views since this was uploaded, something still hurts. And that's that genius of this level is at 40K views. PEOPLE of the universe - come and listen to this! There's soul, passion, inimitable talent and musicianship rolled into this video that you would probably never hear unless someone managed to revive SRV or Jimi. It's actually astonishing! I'm super picky when it comes to guitar music that I can actually listen to, and this is one of the most emotive and lyrical deliveries on record! I've got literally less guitarists than I can count on one hand on the list of players that I sit down, listen to and feel - Philip is certainly one of them. He doesn't only have incredible technique, but he plays with extremes of dynamic in one phrase, and has the most wholesome, rounded touch and vibrato out there. No one can be taught to play like this - it is a gift. This is on another level - I sorely hope that people share the hell out of this video, because this man deserves recognition for carrying a torch first lit by the greats, and for not letting that torch burn out (even in 2014). Not many can do that. Exceptional, exceptional, exceptional! (If you're reading this from my G+, please +1 and reshare this video for the good of mankind).
Goosebumps and hairs standing on end listening to this - completely agree with everything you said AdamLeeGuitarist . I love the effortlessness of his playing - reminds me so much of Hendrix and the greats - 40k views WTF RUclips - write a talent algorithm that promotes things like this on the home page.
THANK YOU, ***** m haha. Stuff like this is just criminally overlooked because so many people just don't know about it. Here's hoping that changes some time soon! Philip is a living legend!
AdamLeeGuitarist thanks for bringing this guy onto my horizon - I've been listening to his stuff all night and all day and he is truly a living legend - going to save up some pennies and get his tracks into my library.
I'm so happy to hear that! And defo! Well worth it - I love all his music, but as a whole record, I really loved 'Innerevolution' - that's got some phenomenal tracks on it. His new album's out in August - well worth a pre-order! :) *****
you are so damn right. Philip is genius and deserves to be more famous. Best comment i've read in a while!
A lot people were left searching for their faces after this show.
Well done fellas!
real life guitar hero.. what a fucking legend
Just saw him for 1st time at Dallas Guitar Festival past weekend. He is incredibly talented. Can hear the passion in his playing. I am sorry it took me so long to finally get to hear him. He put on a great set. I plan on getting all his recordings.
"This changes everything" - Guitar cable sales people watching this video.
This is some badass shit!! Killerband!!
Hands down the best live version of this song.
so glad that guitar is over 18.....
yawnnnn
Wow! This guy is ace!
Philip is sick... as in very good. LOL.
I come back to this every few months. Great touch and dynamics and never goes off into a indulgent wankfest like so many technically great guitarists.
The tone is epic and that Strat has a baseball bat for a neck.
Yep I was there. He kicked ass! Specially loved it when he went down into the crowed and went towards the back row. Gave the fans that didn't have the chance to be right up front a great little in there face jam. Getting close and personal with his fans. Showed lots of class.. Good Stuff!
Wow Thanks Philip for putting Aberystwyth on the international scene :) I live & work there and I love the place. Come back and visit sometime :) Good song. Virgil McMahon from Virgil and the Accelerators directed me here.
How is this not at a Million views😯
Big soul, big heart in order to play like that! ❤️
These guys compliment eachother very well. Phillip is a beast.
Only the best guitar player on the scene and barely any body realizes It!!!!
This was such a great show. Philip jammed his ass off!!!!!!
I've seen Philip Sayce play live years ago with Jeff Healey and he IS that crazy talented! You know that you're in the presence of GREATness. He's got a nice soulful rock voice, too.
The chords he does are so melodic and harmonic, it just makes the solo parts more powerful.
I actually was choked up by the end of it.
Both Jimi and SRV would eat from the same plate while watching this...MONSTROUS
This guy is just fucking amazing! He plays with so much passion!
Man this was such a awesome show, im the guy standing in the white sweater to philip's right. Philip is god!!!!! What a show this was, one of the best ive seen thus far.
I still remember the stench of your farts from that night buddy
It's been a long time since I've seen something really amazing
I think the english word I'm trying to say is SOULFUL. I cry every time I listen to your playing
Philip Sayce what a tremendous guitar virtuoso/player. He originates from Wales Aberystwyth UK my home country. When will he do a tour in the UK, would b great if he did a tour here.
sounds like Old Love from Clapton, really awesome tone!!!
This is true
The dude is an absolute MONSTER
I agree. he gives a guitar a real work out..just like Gary Moore with his Les Paul.
I mean "Fu#@$!K Yeah!!!" doesn't even begin to describe what I just saw and listened to! My goodness! Pure gold!
This is the only guy. I've heard play in this direction with such power and emotion. It is uncommon for me that this type of music brings tears to my eyes, but it did. Absolutely Incredible.
Three years later this song still sweeps me of my feet......
Wow! I do not know what else to say.
Holy crap! That was magical.
Whipping the strings with the cable...that's a first!!! Amazing playing the emotions man Unreal
Yeah that’s a Jimi thing. FYI lol♥️
Philip Sayce -- beautifully , pasion with love
This is my favorite guitar solo I’ve seen so far. And I’ve seen loads. His tone is so crazy good.
What an unreal player. How inspiring for a player like myself thanks
Whoa...blerging awesome.
WOW!!!!!!!!
Hands down one of the best live performances i’ve ever seen 🏆
Lord have Mercy! That's some of the best playing I've heard in many moons!! I've only been listening to Philip for a few weeks, & he's already become one of my favorite living guitar players.. Nice to hear someone putting their heart into it
Ditto... sadly, 9yrs later.
@@williambarney2874 ditto..... sadly, 9 days later.
Monstro!
Sayce + Gales + Kotzen: o trio perfeito!
YES
Would be amazing
I think it would be too much really. Most of these guys shine in a three/four piece. It would be killer for a show/tour though.
This man is actually the best blues guitarist in the world... SRV is back!
and Hendrix 2. Lol.. we can't distinguish between the two the way Philip is playing.
I love your music Philip.
Maestro! The blues never die!
This Man plays to my Heart,...What a Great Feeling :-)
Other musicians in the Band are phenomenal too!
When this guy is going to play at Crossroads? Hey Clapton, make it happen!
Philip is definetly my new hero, this is really really good :)
Unbeliavable!
This live version is even better than the studio version I have on my IPod. Oh my, does he knows how to touch my very soul ...........
Damn!! That hit the spot. New name to me but I'll be back for more
Phill just became our Sonic Guitarist Hero by the way he ended this brilliant video! Bravo Mr. Sayce bravo 👏🏻 My brother Stellar 💫⭐️🌙👍🏻😎✌🏻
PHILIP RULES !
Good music like this makes me happy
He is definitely a hidden serious talent.....
Wow. Absolutely stunning.
Best thing happen to me in 2012/2013. Knowing Sayce music
To this day
YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm from Aberystwyth. So cool that he was born here, it's a really bland little seaside town in all honesty yet kinda inspiring that someone like Philip went on to better things (although the fact that his parents moved to Canada probably benefited him in the long run). Cool track.
Simply mindblowing
That's how you pour soul into the guitar
What has been performed here need not hide behind the BIGGEST names. Simply world class!!!
Talk about putting yourself into a performance. Wow!
Loved this song since the first time I heard it! Wish I could play a little bit more of it!
You're an amazing guitar player and you have so much emotion in your playing. Thank you for your music, you make me so happy with it. Keep putting out amazing stuff!
Feelin' IT - Pure ♡ and soul. X
Simply awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love!!!
Wow I love him where have you been Dang
That was insane
Brilliant how a song with no lyrics can bring out such emotion!!
What a MONSTER player
Ditto!
Simply a m a z i n g !!!!!!!!!
Amazing tones
Don't compare two greats. They are both awesome and deserve to be recognised as such.
love this philip. tasty. patient
Man this is so good
Hammond on a Hammond!
Great tone, Philip.
Our savior of blues and soul, thank you Philip!
Does anybody have some words about this awesome drummer?
My Brutha, you are a Monster of Monsters. Thank you man!!
No problem , His 1962 Strat is over 18 ....
both of this strats are 1963s
Wow most original guitar joke i’m impressed
Oh Gosh! This made my day!
Sweeet!
I never heard of this guy until today the wow Factor is on high speed
I love many guitar players, too many to mention; but along with Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales, and Lance Lopez, Philip Sayce is a special favourite. For those who don't know Lance Lopez; He is a texas blues rock axeripper and a friend of Eric Gales. He and Gales often cameo on tracks from each other's albums.
You Made My Day, Sir !!
Come to Spain Philip!!!
How tf this thing ain't got over 10,000,000 views??
The ending was epic
omg
There is no one out ther who olay with more feeling than philip!
A just love strat!!!
In right hands, it's magic!
\o/
Where Jimi meets SRV..i think Philip is too much underrated..
Good Lord! There is an upward climb for a musician, where he must figure out the know-how of his instrument, to the point where technicality is no longer a barrier for expression. Philip is born there already, which is why you don't hear an instrument being played! You are literally listening to the man's soul! Just incredible! I'm mind-blown. As a confessed fussy listener, not only can't I fault this performance, but I can't believe I'm hearing it! Time to replay this video again! Ahhh SO GOOD!
Man I just watched this 3 times and am going back for a fourth!🤩 wow it’s so great! The sound, the performance, everything!!!! How come I don’t hear you on the radio?
