- Today is my last stage and the longest of them all: 150 km. I took the decision to end my trip in Eugene a long ago. The distance between Sisters and Eugene is massive and there is a mountain pass, a very spectacular one: the McKenzie pass, with its famous lava field landscape.
The first part of the trip is uphill and through a dry pine forest. On the summit area, lava and dead forest. Over the pass, the downhill goes through the most spectacular pine, cedar and fir forest ever seen so far: the Willamette National Forest. It is much more humid over here and very hot. The descent is long and the grade becomes closer to zero after Vida.
I did very late. Luckily, I entered Springfield and its city lights as soon as it got pitch dark. Eugene and Springfield form a large metropolitan area.
I arrived in Eugene only around 10, but despite the late start, the headwind, the elevation and the many stops, it was a fast day indeed, can’t complain.
My feelings were a mess at my arrival. Glad to finish, sad to finish. Glad for the achievement, sorry for putting a full stop on this epic journey.
Overall, this the end of a great experience and I am of course very pleased with the experience itself and with myself, capable of carrying it out. I just need some time to think over it and elaborate the success, the story… the adventure.
Today mileage 93 (150 km)
Total 3757 (6046 km)
Vlady, congratulations on accomplishing your goal. Clearly, it was an awesome and varied experience and your final emotions make clear the impact the experience had on you. Thanks for sharing your honest reactions to your experiences.
Thank you for sharing your awesome experience with Me and my Wife. You have allowed us to look at this great country through your perspective. And because of that you have made me realize so much more. We're gonna miss you Vlady. Take care.
You are very kind. Stay tuned as I shall publish a better done video film about the trip - not episodic but a whole movie.
Great job on completing your epic journey!! I really appreciate your drone footage, it's very well done. Most of the wildfires are lightning caused and the smoke they produce is quite terrible during the summer. Thanks for sharing sir!!!
Thanks! It was sad to cycle through, entire valleys lost their appeal. But it’s ok if part of the life cycle.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride - great accomplishment
Glad you enjoyed it Larry!
I did this trip in the opposite direction in 2021. Nice to relive the memories. By bike or not you should go to the coast. Its lush and beautiful.
Yes, I did then visit the coast, from Florence to Astoria
Wow Vlady bravo bravo. I'm must to say I started to watch your videos maybe 4 months ago I was planning my trip a cross USA and I'm sitting here in usa it's day 12. the days are not easy must to say but I'm so Tanks fulll you gave me motivation to keep pedaling... thank you very much
Yes I saw that! It is not easy and it takes weeks to get into the rhythm
Thanks for sharing your trip
My pleasure of course :) thanks to you!

Bravissimo 🎉💪🏻💪🏻🚴🏼♀️🎉🙌👍 enjoyed your adventure thanks!! What 🚴🏼♀️tour / adventure is next ?
Molte grazie :) Yes, it is already April and I am indeed planning. I will cycle locally I guess, but locally here is equally vast and remote, as I live in Sweden.
Congratulations on completing your coast to coast trip. Such great video. I appreciate your sharing that it wasn't easy physically or mentally. Still worth the pain, time and effort? I hope so. I'll be starting my ride in May.
Let’s put it this way: going to work every day, working physically up to 8 hours, waking up early… having no rest on Saturday or Sunday, isn’t fun. Sure, riding also nice and allows you to travel, but there is a lot of hard work behind this success! It is worth it, definitely. It is like a medal for your soul, an unforgettable bless.
Awesome footage Vlady. Its been great to watch your adventures each week. What dates did you do this route?
20th May - 7th August 🤍
Was hoping for a final video on your thoughts on the ride, the people and you… Have a wonderful life
A final video is in preparation :)
