Not to mention that he claims that this film has little to do with the games. In terms of character names and locations, I can give him that. Hollywood has done (and apparently still does) that shit constantly when adapting into a different medium. However if you've blindly skipped over the first game entirely (which most AC fans apparently do), that's not an excuse to say that film's plot has nothing to do with the source material. Don't get me wrong, I love watching his reviews. But there were plenty of times I've scratched my head at some points in some of the other reviews.
I am glad he's back to doing these kind of reviews instead of inserting himself into the movies, but he still REALLY needs to do his research! Otherwise, he's going to seem more and more like an unprofessional, incompetent reviewer.
Which supports my stance that all producers need to have their videos independently viewed before they are uploaded. I heard a published writer long ago say that "You are your own worst editor". Time and time again I've seen producers release videos with obvious mistakes, mistakes could have been caught easily by someone outside of the production because they aren't preoccupied in the creative process.
With that sort of historical accuracy in the film, honestly would anyone even notice? We are at the state where Elvis could be performing on the Hindenburg.
8:58 Wait! Cal's father is here? Why aren't they using him? Wouldn't he be a generation closer? I assume that would make the signal stronger, however that works.
5:56 Um Erod. They did that in the game too. Yeah they had the awesome stuff take place during the memories of Altier the actual name of the first games protagonist (+1 in error in adaptation). Also the amulus digs into the genetic coding of whoever's in it to extract the memories of the ancestors of the people in it using whatever dna of the ancestor is in the person in the anumus Also in the game they also mostly follow Altier and not his descendent and if you have any problems with the action scene in the end with the descendent. Then I know you didn't play the first game since it's a step up from the original ending in the game
What’s really sad is this film was made for those who had played the and were familiar with the concepts. They also made the film canon to the games along with the books and comics so there’s 4 different types of media for the story going on.
I actually put off watching this one for a while, mainly because, as I kept on saying, I like this movie. In fact, it's one of my favourite movies. So, to my surprise, you kind of went easy on it. Emphasis on the "kind of"
Did you ever played assaying creed? It doesn't take place in the past! And that not even mentioning the aliens. The issue is that effects were cheap and Animus look ridiculous.
When I first saw this as a moviegoer I thought it was close to one of the video games. Only problem I saw for you fans at the time is this film is not rated R like the games. And I didn't really get to know some of the characters to be honest. At the end of the day, It's average. Great review.
@TheAllSeeingEye No the point. It was different character so it totally could be a prototype of Animus. My only issue is why they make it that way? Animus what play central role through whole series was really cool device, but we get cheap knock off with some cringe robo arm. WTF?
While I can understand people hating on the movie as an adaptation, I would like to point out that the problem with the stuff in the present was something that already existed in the games. From the beginning, very few fans cared about the events going on in the present, to the point where we had two extra games made just to focus on an unexpectedly and undeservedly popular assassin. Then Ubisoft decided to have annual releases where the series would be continued indefinitely. The same framing device with the animus was kept along with the plots in the present even though it's clear that nobody has any clue how to resolve them. Much like in this movie, the plots in the present just drag the series down and the games would be better off if they just abandoned them.
Heey Erod just saw thr beginning of the Warcraft movie. Its not based on World of Warcraft (mostly) but on the original Warcraft one videogame which came out in the 90s... so it would mean someone ripped that game of to rip that movie off ...
I actually really like the film (And I had never played the games). Love the world they showed us and Kurzel's directing. Was the first film I did an analysis of actually.
Norm of The north and Arctic Dogs are so worthy for your reviews, Norm of The North shows how animated films are as bad as this, and Wrctic Dogs is just what would happen if you waste a promising movie as an action packed team up film and fuck it up with a solo character that gives Will Ferrel’s Holmes a run for it’s money.
I liked this movie but I do see the flaws and problems. The good parts of course was the scenes with Aguilar but it still could have been a better movie.
I thought the movie was alright but then I've only played the first game and I'm not really a fan of the series. I did like how how Michael Fassbender did have a character arc of being taught how to become an assassin. One of the guards even mentions how dumb the company is: "WE ARE FEEDING THE BEAST!"
why do you keep saying "1840's"? One time I thought it was a gaffe, but after several times...you even call it a "medieval world"...what makes you think the 1840's is medieval?
Why do you refer to Scar as "Uncle Scar"? He isn't your uncle for obvious reasons and it isn't even his character's name. It's like reviewing Hotel Transylvania and constantly referring to Dracula as "Daddy Dracula".
" because these scenes are so good, they make the rest of the movie look dull by comparison." Isn't that one of the issues that was and all of the Assassin's Creed games? My friends wanted me to go see this movie with them, and I can tell that after watching your review I made the right choice by not going. Thank you
After seeing this cool medieval stylized world why would you want to go back to the boring ass real one I don't know sounds like asssassins Creed games to me.
Me and my best friend are fans of the games and we saw this movie at her place and we went outside for a quick smoke and we discussed why animus is kinda ridiculous in this movie.
Ok, I'm disappointed by this review. Thing is that that Assassin Creed always did TAKE PLACE in the present, as it is story od Desmond Miles (through I didn't fallow up recent games). A supposedly normal bartender who is descendent of long line of assassins, and meta arc of whole series is real time race between knight Tempers and Assassins over who extract memory from him first. And whole thing is possible because humans in this world were created by aliens, but escape from they ship stealing device used to control them, what is now seek by evil religious sect. You literally need ten minutes on google to learn about that as most was revealed in first game. Largest flaw of this movie is that it spend too much time on the real world, when in the games Desmond spend most his time in Animus and we did fallow up the story of his ancestors (with real world segments being big things). And speaking of that mentioned issues with the tension can be solved by giving protagonist other thing to care, with us not knowing if he was capable, or didn't fulfill his personal goal. That and poor effects and wooden action in the institute.
Though now I think about it, maybe the reason for BB weakness is what E-Rod deliberately ignore. That largest flaws of those movies is being honest regard games, and so they didn't really deserve the busting even if they aren't that good. Assassin Creed has other flaws then being based on video game, so it is more Resident Evil then Silent Hill movie. But I definitely don't see the reason to bust WarCraft! Biggest flaw of that movie is that it adopt plot of first two games (I remind that there was co canon endings there, so it is largely streamlined.. a WoW) and even people who are fans probably don't remember most of that shit. But otherwise it is one of best video game adaptations ever made.
The most idiotic thing about this movie was the design of the ANIMUS (if you can call it that.) Was it really necessary to change it from a capsule bed to...whatever that thing was that attached itself to the main lead's limbs?
Well if you think about in monster verse terms Mothra is just a reincarnation of the previous Mothra with all the memories of all the live she had lived even though she born as offspring. So if you see it that way that would mean that Cal has what his name memroies somewhere buried deep in his mind it would only be matter of finding them and extracting big enough fragments to find where the apple was hidden or rather which memory shows them where the apple is hidden. Then again I never did see the movie I have only watched the game being played because not really my thing but I just looking for context here to make scene even though there really isn't any and wasn't the nurse blond?
It's nice to watch Erod again
1492, not 1842!! Columbus would have been dead 4 hundred years if it had been 1842!! Do your research!!
He's the Blockbuster Buster, not the History Restorer.
Not to mention that he claims that this film has little to do with the games. In terms of character names and locations, I can give him that. Thank God Detective Pikachu exists
This is not a prison. We call it "surprise second home", so it's actually quite ethical and quite fun.
Sorry. It's really hard to resist that joke.
wow you posted this on YT? here's hopping it don't get taken down! glad to have you back!
Yes the king is back
8:58 Wait! Cal's father is here? Why aren't they using him? Wouldn't he be a generation closer? I assume that would make the signal stronger, however that works.

Shin Godzilla has more sensitive ability than this.
God I love this channel!
Cool review as usual, points are better than a lot of other "critics"
This movie was an insult to the brotherhood.
Such a great episode!!! Looking forward to the new one!!
6:25 so they kinda did the reverse of the games, since the present day story is about 25%, if that, of any given game entry.
I liked the uniforms that the characters were.
It's not fair that you're still under 10K after so many years.. keep going though Erod!
So excited for this episode!!
I’m glad to have u bac erod
The main problem with this film is that the animus portions are based on what happens in AC Discoveries!
Can you look at A Cartoon Show call Inhumanoids???
Geralt: "Some never learn..."
4:04 "What time is it?!"
You forgot to mention that Michael sings Patsy Cline's Crazy out of nowhere
Even though i'm a fan of this film, I agree that part felt off.
Christopher Columbus was so greedy for gold that he would even kill for it. Yep, he would have definitely fit right in with the power-hungry Templars.
What’s really sad is this film was made for those who had played the and were familiar with the concepts. They also made the film canon to the games along with the books and comics so there’s 4 different types of media for the story going on.

Does anyone know the name of his intro song?
Personally I really don't see the hate for this film I found it entertaining and really enjoyed it
🤦🏿♂️ my god the Movie couldn't Even Get animus Right
They should stuck to the past
Did you ever played assaying creed? It doesn't take place in the past! And that not even mentioning the aliens. The issue is that effects were cheap and Animus look ridiculous.
agreed

My brother went to see this in theaters, he said that he essentially paid for a nap.
Hopefully in the sequel, we get more past than future
there making a sequel? but this sucked! I never even played the games and even I know this was not fateful to the series
TheAllSeeingEye yup, and yet they're still making it
@TheAllSeeingEye
No the point. It was different character so it totally could be a prototype of Animus. My only issue is why they make it that way? Animus what play central role through whole series was really cool device, but we get cheap knock off with some cringe robo arm. WTF?
Holy cow assassin Erod!👏🏻
2:29 HUGE fuck up, but everyone knows that, the age IN THE MOVIE was 1492 instead of 1842
Wait! I already saw this on Dailymotion! Are you going to post stuff there and then just post it here a while later? What's the point of that?
Accessibility.
While I can understand people hating on the movie as an adaptation, I would like to point out that the problem with the stuff in the present was something that already existed in the games. Even though it's only once a month the wait is worth it :)
I actually really like the film (And I had never played the games). Love the world they showed us and Kurzel's directing. Was the first film I did an analysis of actually.
Fuck yeah Blockbuster Buster is back bitches lol
I like Assasin's Creed
I was gonna see it, but I knew it would suck just by the company who distributed it.
12:03 Blockbuster Creed?...Assassin's Buster?....hmmm.
I actually enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it, but I do see the problems with it.
Ah, so it's Game movies this season
actually, it's pretty close to the game...
I liked this movie but I do see the flaws and problems. The good parts of course was the scenes with Aguilar but it still could have been a better movie.

Damn it....I nearly forgot you only did shows and movies.....aahhh this movie is RAAAAAA!!!!!!!😡😡😡😤😤
Yeah this isn’t a prison
Too All of The Die Hard Fan Just Stick to the Games and Novels
So, the movie would be way better without the present day plot? Then it's exactly like the game, heh.
why do you keep saying "1840's"? One time I thought it was a gaffe, but after several times...you even call it a "medieval world"...what makes you think the 1840's is medieval?
I like this movie

First time I rented a movie, watched it, and 40% of the way I tapped out. A special kind of boring. And I love AC! Even the modern ones!
Ohh well
You couldn’t even spell him right it’s altier not algier
" because these scenes are so good, they make the rest of the movie look dull by comparison." Isn't that one of the issues that was and all of the Assassin's Creed games?
My friends wanted me to go see this movie with them, and I can tell that after watching your review I made the right choice by not going. Thank you
I just read the plot off wiki, & I think I have a better grasp of it than if I'd watched the movie, also they're still tryin' to make another.
After seeing this cool medieval stylized world why would you want to go back to the boring ass real one
I don't know sounds like asssassins Creed games to me.
Me and my best friend are fans of the games and we saw this movie at her place and we went outside for a quick smoke and we discussed why animus is kinda ridiculous in this movie.
It is obviously the prototype. Still ridiculous nonetheless.
I totally forgot they made a movie out of this lol
I don't like marion cottilard or michael fassbender.... >:-(
No enzio no assassin creed movie
In the games is explaind what the appel of Eden can do but the movie dose not do a good job
Sigh. Maybe a good videogame movie really is just wishful thinking...
Ok, I'm disappointed by this review. Thing is that that Assassin Creed always did TAKE PLACE in the present, as it is story od Desmond Miles (through I didn't fallow up recent games). But in the games the story in the present is around 5%.
The most idiotic thing about this movie was the design of the ANIMUS (if you can call it that.)
Was it really necessary to change it from a capsule bed to...whatever that thing was that attached itself to the main lead's limbs?
I remember reading they changed the design to avoid comparisons to The Matrix.
This movie did the impossible:
It made assassination boring.
yeah this movie was so disappointing last year
