You can just see the love that went into this show. It was a true passion project and with all the talent behind it, its easy to see why it was such a huge hit. Alex really knew what he was doing when he made Gravity Falls and it shows
I have to credit Disney for making most of their shows really amazing these few years. Watching new episodes of “Star Vs the Forces of Evil” and “Ducktales 2017” has been very entertaining. I hope we get so much more original shows from them.
never say "it's over" ... when the creator, Alex Hirsch himself, is OPEN to continuing the show. hope he does and that the quality will continue or raise the bar
bionicleanime he didn't want to continue the show. He was afraid it'd last too long, he was the one to actually choose to stop it at 2 seasons. Though I wouldn't have minded if it was 3 seasobs
They needed a 3rd season to develop Ford. He barely got to interact.... with anyone really. There are so many things you can do in a third season. Guess it wasn’t in the stars :( However, it is completely the decision of Hirsch, so the only content your getting is the comics and the journals
I love this show to death, I can't stop watching at least most of the episodes. There were a couple of episodes I found not as strong as the rest, like the Several Timez episode and Roadside Attraction,. But my absolute favorites, besides the series finale, were Fight Fighters, and Soos and the Real Girl :) Also, Stranger Things came out in August of 2016, while Gravity Falls ended in February of 2016.
mabel isn't perfect. while she does represent childhood cuteness(I guess you could call it), she also represents when you look back at your childhood and think, man I was a brat, thats also mabel
Whoever wants more from this show, I very much recommend The Transcendence Falls AU, it is literally the most organized, Amazing AU I have ever seen, it has such a good story and is just so good! Check out Piearty's Animatic for it, really good. Like seriously, if they were to ever do a show on AU's, this would be absolutely perfect for it
I love Gravity Falls for a lot of reasons. I love it's memorable characters, it's creative adventures, it's intricate visual storytelling, and it's ability to balance horror, comedy, heart, and adventure. But the reason I love it most of all is that it reminds me of my own relationship with my sister. She and I aren't twins like Dipper and Mabel but I still relate to their close relationship. When I watch the show I'm reminded of the days she and I would spend at the park coming up with adventures similar to those of Dipper and Mabel.
I love your review of Gravity Falls, a friend recommended the show back in June, i was totally in love with it and i even got the chance to meet Alex Hirsch in SDCC and sign my Journal, since then i have rewatched the whole series 3 times already and i even had a great idea for a continuation when Dipper and Mabel being adults, really like how you explore the characters and actors, i will give your channel a look.
I love the show, but one thing does annoy me. Mabel is selfish, but more often than not, Dipper ends up being the one who apologizes after SHE let him down. Hell, the finale was all about that exact subject.
Just remember folks, Mabel did more good than bad (saved a merman’s life, cared about others surrounding her, freed the people from being petrified in Bill’s chair, etc.) and here’s another fact, she is just a child, not worth hating over.
Love Gravity Falls and Hopefully, they'll make comics about more adventures with the Pines Twins. I also like the comics to have more stories about the mysteries of the Town too. :D
This series and Bill Cipher's character had always, along with the fantasy genre, left me thinking. If our real world was faced with supernatural/mystical/superhuman threats, would we be able to stop them? With Bill's powers, I doubt even the Navy Seals could so much as hurt him. But I'd love to see Bill rearrange the parts of a certain political figure's face
I really love this show, but it sadly fell off for me in the last two episodes. I was surprised how much I came to lose my patience with Mabel especially over the course of the second season, and the finale felt like the wrong kind of fan wank for this type of show.
Just one thing I dont get about this show. Why all the characters have 5 fingers on their hands, but kids (Mable and DIpper) have 4? It just makes even more confusing, cause Ford's defined difference suppose to be extra finger, but who knows how many fingers people suppose to have on this show?
Alex said that it was just for style reasons while animating. 3 fingers look better on smaller, thinner arms. If you notice, even small characters with thicker designs (like Gideon) do have 4 fingers. (I agree it's a little confusing, because of the importance to the plot of Ford's six fingers. Which they made sure to give him even when depicting him as a small child. But at least they only had to do that for a few scenes.)
My favorite side character is Old Man Mgucket. everything out of his mouth is just hilarious. that and he had some massive plot relevance later down the line. My favorite season 1 episode is the Land before Swine, and my favorite season 2 episode (outside the finale) is Not What he seems.
Agree with most, but mabel is one of the most shelfish characters in creation, dipper does anything for mabel's, but mabel routinely pushes dipper to the side to try to get what she wants, there is only two points in the series in which Mabel realizes this, but she quickly returns to her self-absorbed state.
The BlockBuster Buster have you seen The Loud House and Disney XD's MotorCity? Also can you bust Transformers The Last Knight and Resident Evil The Final Chapter as well as Power Rangers Turbo The Movie.
Also Alex Hirsh has stated that whenever Mabel is off screen she is knitting the sweaters that we see her wear. my favorite web comic has a reference to Gravity Falls where the main character Erma happens to be riding on the same bus that Dipper and Mabel are at the end of the series (dipper is wearing Wendy’s hat)
I think they should continue Gravity Falls in comic book/graphic novel form. There are tons of ideas they can continue to focus on and develop, like Dipper and Mabel's growth into teenagers/young adults, dealings with romantic relationships, hardships with reality and the world of paranormal, and maybe even struggling with keeping their summer adventures secret from others.
I tend to have a hard time getting through this show because I don't like Mabel. It just drives me crazy that she's able to be so selfish and constantly get away with it. Also, is Ford their grandfather or their uncle? Because if it's the latter, then who is their grandfather?
Ford is their Grunkle, Ford and Stan had another Brother called Shermie, he was much younger than the other two lol. And Mabel isn't selfish, she's just herself
It is day seven of Disney taking their content off the Spectrum cable TV system. After seeing episode 1 on RUclips, I started looking for "Gravity Falls" on Disney XD in mid-May 2023. I "got on the bus to Piedmont" in late July, then noticed that several episodes weren't broadcast. As of this date, September 6, 2023, "Summerween" hasn't been shown. It it "too scary for modern audiences" or just "sub-par" according to episode raters?
Season 2 should have been split into 2 separate seasons. The 2nd season should have ended with Ford coming out of the portal, giving us the whole 3rd season to build up to Weirdmageddon
Look, what makes this series is great can be summed up by Grunkle Stan. When the audience first meets him, he's greedy, is irresponsible and cons people in every way imaginable. Early on in the series, these traits are generally used in stupid situations to get laughs. And I, for one, just assumed that these were just character flaws there for the sake of them. After "A Tale of Two Stans", the more these traits actually make sense and actually showed us Stan's psychology. Grunkle Stan is greedy because of his family situation. He was kicked out of his house after costing his family millions. His father then tells him to only come back once Stan himself had made millions. And, in a subconscious way, even though Grunkle had settled in Gravity Falls and his old man was likely dead, Grunkle Stan still kept on trying and trying and still failing to meet his father's demand. Likewise, his irresponsibility and cons are played for laughs but we also get to see reasons for Stan to do this. His whole life, Stan was unappreciated. Derided in school, barely got off the ground as a gold digger, washed up as a salesman, arrested in so many countries and just had a rough time of things before he got to Gravity Falls. The only person who liked him seemed to be his brother, but that relationship had ended acrimoniously. But, at Gravity Falls, the people seemed to like him. Or rather, the person they thought he was, as Stan was impersonating his brother. Stan couldn't tell them that his brother was gone, so he had to keep lying to them. And so, he was forced to live as his brother. Which Stan enjoyed. As mentioned above, Grunkle Stan had been derided for being himself his whole life. Therefore, he could step out of the weight of his failures and fill his brother's shoes instead. It gave him a whole new lease on life. His cons and irresponsibility are him living his carefree life free of the real Stanley Pines- because he was just a burden to everyone. Stanford Pines, though, could do whatever he wanted. Point being, this show turned these character traits about Grunkle Stan, which seemed shallow and just there for laughs, into a representation of his battle-scarred and weary life. Brilliant, brilliant writing. Absolutely amazing. Edit: This is just an example of how this show does not just manage to balance weirdness and comedy with amazing storytelling but actually has them build on each other, to get something greater than the sum of the two parts. I can't praise that enough.
What's up with the low res video clips? I liked the review but man that throws me off of watching it. I enjoy listening to it but man it's a little hard on the eyes. If you were to at least have all the clips be the same quality it would have been fine but you yourself and your background are high quality along with the clips that were directly uploaded to youtube from the creators but then you go off and use super low res clips from the actual show, It doesn't just make the video a little hard on the eyes it also might throw some people off of watching it do to the cartoon itself not looking all that well. Oh well glad you decided to do a cartoon review I was a big fan of Gravity Falls and I hope you continue to do more Cya around Erod.
Gravity Falls is my favorite show, but I HATE Mable. Yeah the silliness is funny, but she never really grows as a character. Everybody around her does and she just stays the same really.
I would simply like it noted that Not What He Seems is one of, if not THE best cartoon episodes of these past couple of years. There are 0 episodes that changed so much in so little time
I think I actually know why they were somehow able to recreate Journal number 3 for them to continue writing entries in it. At the start of season 2, we see Stan making a copy of the journal before he gives the original back to Dipper, so they could have used that to recreate Journal number 3.
(That's true, and a good guess! But, they explain in the Journal that all three journals were restored when Bill was defeated. Kind of like the way the whole town got fixed. Things that Bill had destroyed with his powers were fixed or brought back, and that included the 3 journals he burned.)
7:52-7:58 I can definitely attest to that. Same thing happened with me when I was Dipper's age (only difference being that it was a 17 year old.) And it was because of that experience, I had no faith in Dipper and Wendy being a thing.
Trixie Tang the worst love interest 2 Timmy. I really wouldn't go that far saying that because I find her pretty and people claimed she was designed after the creator's daughter Carly Hartman even though she said she wasn't because Tootie is based on her. Trixie is half Japanese and was named after Trixie from Speed Racer.
I mean like watching Star Wars Rebels from time to time it's just the fact that its logo opening is very short and makes the show feel weak compared to samurai jack opening, also happy new years to you man.
Favorite episode in gravity falls got to be NWHS, also when it comes to relationship in the show with Dipper, with some of the hints in journal 3 drop by Alex I could see Dipper and Pacifica hooking up when they are older somewhere down the road, so Dipper will get a girl of his own one of these day if Alex let it happen.
So the character designs were based on puppets! No wonder I laughed so much at that Sandler and Waldorf joke! Also, Bill's #2 on my villain list because of his sense of humor and his omnipotent powers! #1 is.............a being of Titan............who makes people cheer in 2018. #BillTheOmnipotentComedian
Can you review one of the worst live action movie adaptations of a toyline/show, max steel. I swear the guy who directed it is somehow even worse than a combination of Michael Bay and Uwe Boll, and I seriously hate him for what he did to Max Steel, a show that I loved when I watched it. Its like he took everything I loved about the show, threw it in the garbage or mixed it into a sh*t stew, and served it to all of the true max steel fans thinking we wouldn't care. You know how that feels when Michael Bay ruined Transformers, so if you looked at the show and the movie from my perspective, then you would feel exactly how I do. So please, do the series justice and rip this turd of a movie a new one, so that all of the max steel fans who were sh*t on by Stewart Hendler (The Director), would one stand up with you and the other followers of fandom and take a stand against Hollywood and male sure they don't do this again. Also I loved your review of the show, you are truly amazing, I am one of your most loyal fans. I have been following you ever since your spectacular spiderman review and I have watched all of your videos and they are amazing and I do not know why you don't as many subscribers as the nostalgia critic.
Yea i count gravity falls as one of the best cartoons and animated seris of all time along with my little pony and only the 4th generation friendship is magic and teenage mutant ninja turtles 2012. Also im an 18 year old dude so that should say a lot about what i choose to do in my free time
Alex Hirsch voices these characters. Other creators of cartoons voices multiple characters too. Seth Macfarlane, Trey Parker And Matt Stone, and even Walt Disney was Mickey Mouse's first voice (Or Carl Stalling who would later do the music for the Looney Tunes).
You can just see the love that went into this show. It was a true passion project and with all the talent behind it, its easy to see why it was such a huge hit. Alex really knew what he was doing when he made Gravity Falls and it shows
Exactly, which is why if there ever is a season 3, we have to expect it to not be coming soon cause Alex is gonna put a bunch of time in perfecting it
"There are other actors on this show, I swear." - Fans when describing this show to non-fans
I have to credit Disney for making most of their shows really amazing these few years. Watching new episodes of “Star Vs the Forces of Evil” and “Ducktales 2017” has been very entertaining. I hope we get so much more original shows from them.
I wish and I have a idea for a short series featuring Walt Disney's first star Oswald the lucky rabbit.
Chris Brasel shoot
hate to break it to you, but even though star was a good show, they dropped the ball with the ending
also Ford Pines has totally met Rick Sanchez
ruclips.net/video/P6SOXMGXB1o/видео.html
Well we all figured that anyways. It's pretty obvious.
slashandbones13 Now if only they could meet up again in Rick and Morty
never say "it's over" ... when the creator, Alex Hirsch himself, is OPEN to continuing the show. hope he does and that the quality will continue or raise the bar
bionicleanime he didn't want to continue the show. He was afraid it'd last too long, he was the one to actually choose to stop it at 2 seasons. Though I wouldn't have minded if it was 3 seasobs
Tho if it ran for a 3rd what would happen?
I don't think a third season would have worked well, tbh. It was as long as it needed to be.
They needed a 3rd season to develop Ford. He barely got to interact.... with anyone really. There are so many things you can do in a third season. Guess it wasn’t in the stars :( However, it is completely the decision of Hirsch, so the only content your getting is the comics and the journals
This is the first Honest Review on something I've actually have seen
I love this show to death, I can't stop watching at least most of the episodes. Alex The Blueman - Fanarts & Updates yet
At least Reruns are Still going.
I've seen the show all the way through 5 times over now, it's become my Favorite Cartoon of all-time.
mabel isn't perfect. while she does represent childhood cuteness(I guess you could call it), she also represents when you look back at your childhood and think, man I was a brat, thats also mabel

Alcor The Dreambender its really interesting first like
brian brush thanks!
Not just one of the best animated shows. One of the best shows of all time.
THE AUTHOR WAS DUCKTECTIVE
He had a twin brother this whole time? That's the big twist we were building up to?
I love Gravity Falls for a lot of reasons. I love it's memorable characters, it's creative adventures, it's intricate visual storytelling, and it's ability to balance horror, comedy, heart, and adventure. A graphic novel with 4 new stories about Gravity Falls is coming out in July 2018. You can order it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. :)
To this day I can't believe how much greatness they were able to fit into 2 seasons! I will definitely read journal # 3!
Definitely one of Disney's best cartoons!
I really love this show, but it sadly fell off for me in the last two episodes. I was surprised how much I came to lose my patience with Mabel especially over the course of the second season, and the finale felt like the wrong kind of fan wank for this type of show.
Great Review. I myself, am trying to get a couple of friends to check it out.
And is Journal No. 3 available on Amazon?
Jared Ohlstein That, Walmart, I think Target and Barnes & Noble. The latter is where I found mine.
Happy new year E-Rod. I hope to God the next year will be better for you! Also Happy New Year to us, the Legion of Badassitude!
I also like the rick and morty and gravity falls connections theories can you do a erant on rick and morty if you have the chance
BUT ALSO GRAVITY FALLS IS MY LIFE AND IT IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I'VE EVER SEEN
Just one thing I dont get about this show. Why all the characters have 5 fingers on their hands, but kids (Mable and DIpper) have 4? It just makes even more confusing, cause Ford's defined difference suppose to be extra finger, but who knows how many fingers people suppose to have on this show?
You grow that extra finger when you become an adult, I suppose.
Alex said that it was just for style reasons while animating. 3 fingers look better on smaller, thinner arms. Which they made sure to give him even when depicting him as a small child. But at least they only had to do that for a few scenes.)
It's for the animation style
Neat episode, now do star vs the forces of evilly
Why yes, I do want Gravity Falls to be a location in Kingdom Hearts.
My favorite side character is Old Man Mgucket. everything out of his mouth is just hilarious. that and he had some massive plot relevance later down the line.
My favorite season 1 episode is the Land before Swine, and my favorite season 2 episode (outside the finale) is Not What he seems.
The shorts are also on Disney plus...alongside the entire series. That’s how I ended up finally watching them. Very good show
Agree with most, but mabel is one of the most shelfish characters in creation, dipper does anything for mabel's, but mabel routinely pushes dipper to the side to try to get what she wants, there is only two points in the series in which Mabel realizes this, but she quickly returns to her self-absorbed state.
no, she is just a kid being a kid
the cipher hunt was really amazing too, and codemageddon is fun. this fandom is far from dead
The BlockBuster Buster have you seen The Loud House and Disney XD's MotorCity? Also can you bust Transformers The Last Knight and Resident Evil The Final Chapter as well as Power Rangers Turbo The Movie.
He reviewed the turbo movies years ago
link right here enjoy bro
ruclips.net/video/3_wz2PZx03I/видео.html
Also Alex Hirsh has stated that whenever Mabel is off screen she is knitting the sweaters that we see her wear.
my favorite web comic has a reference to Gravity Falls where the main character Erma happens to be riding on the same bus that Dipper and Mabel are at the end of the series (dipper is wearing Wendy’s hat)
2:17 "gullible sucker" I mean tourists.... hahahaha funny😂
Funny you say that as Alex revealed at a con this year that there'll be a Gravity Falls graphic novel.
A graphic novel with 4 new stories will be on sale in July 2018. :)
And Mabel isn't selfish, she's just herself
who is your least favorite character in the show for me it is mabel because well she is kinda selfish and causes most of the problems
I’m not sure how you can love gravity falls without loving Mabel.
Robbie’s my least favorite for never really being funny.
The fact you have so few likes on this scares me. You need more love for this one. :D
Just finished this series last night and damn that last episode was such a tear jerker. I actually cried like a little bitch!!
I hear they originally wanted David Lynch to voice Bill Cipher, but they couldn't get him so Alex tried doing an impression of him for Bill.
I love how three of thos shows I grew up with
Great video all the clips had me laughing. Can't wait to get dvd. Will come back once I seen it 😁
I always imagined what it would be like if this show was live action, someone should do that
I want a live action series of this show!
Why is the shacktron not a toy I can buy yet?
Just like why there's no series box set.
Now if only Reverse Falls was made into a cartoon series
Reverse Dipper Pines first like
Some parts in Gravity Falls really reminds me of of the tv show "Eerie, Indiana".
Oh, fun fact! That was the last remaining time portal in existence!
MASON....DIPPER'S name is MASON.
Don't tell people if they didn't know BTW I know that
It is day seven of Disney taking their content off the Spectrum cable TV system. After seeing episode 1 on RUclips, I started looking for "Gravity Falls" on Disney XD in mid-May 2023. Honest review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012-2017 and Teenage mutant ninja turtles 1987-1998
great video
Season 2 should have been split into 2 separate seasons. The 2nd season should have ended with Ford coming out of the portal, giving us the whole 3rd season to build up to Weirdmageddon
Forgive me fellow fanboys and fangirls, I have not seen this show at all
Gio A well you should man!
darkknightfan75 after this review, I plan to on new year's
Gio A great!👍
Me too. The reason I did not watched it it was because I did not likethe animation.
Watch it man as its worth your time.
I now regret that I didn't put that journal on my Christmas list.
I really hope they continue this show in comic form like Invader Zim. That’d be so cool!
They are! A graphic novel with 4 new stories will be on sale in July 2018!

I loved Dipoer and Mabel, but Gruncle Stan is my favorite character!
MARK HAMIL?!?!??!
I completely forgot that Stan made a copy of the third journal until you mentioned it getting restored.
it would be awesome if it came back for a third season
Bill Cipher is one of my favorite villains ever!
You still doing that Ninja Turtles 2012 honest review?
When will we see a honest review for the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
I’d ask Erod to do a Twin Peaks review, but the video would go on for at LEAST an hour
I totally shipped Dipper & Pacifica by the end of the series.
Gravity Falls is my favorite show, but I HATE Mable. Yeah the silliness is funny, but she never really grows as a character. Everybody around her does and she just stays the same really.
no
I would simply like it noted that Not What He Seems is one of, if not THE best cartoon episodes of these past couple of years. There are 0 episodes that changed so much in so little time
There's a real life Mabel Pines? that is both awesome and kind of scary at the same time.
when you look up gravity falls everyday hoping to find a video that says new season out now but instead your stuck with this
I think I actually know why they were somehow able to recreate Journal number 3 for them to continue writing entries in it.
Wasn't Wendy suppose to be 15? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah she's 15.
Who else screamed and woke up the entire house at Ford's reveal?
Oh yes, openings and even more, ones with theme songs seem to be a lost art these days, which is beyond sad.
Do a honest review on moville mysteries please
7:52-7:58 I can definitely attest to that. Same thing happened with me when I was Dipper's age (only difference being that it was a 17 year old.) And it was because of that experience, I had no faith in Dipper and Wendy being a thing.
I SAW DANNY PHANTOM AND SCREAMED
I'm still hoing for a GF/Rick and Morty crossover (R&M make mulitple GF refrences and Journal 3 implies Ford knows Rick)
I agree the finale it very good
7:00 The greater good... Sorry. Since Hot Fuzz, I can’t help repeating it after someone says the sentence.
I mean like watching Star Wars Rebels from time to time it's just the fact that its logo opening is very short and makes the show feel weak compared to samurai jack opening, also happy new years to you man.
Two words: ... It's amazing
I'm still watching it because it's on disney+
Favorite episode in gravity falls got to be NWHS, also when it comes to relationship in the show with Dipper, with some of the hints in journal 3 drop by Alex I could see Dipper and Pacifica hooking up when they are older somewhere down the road, so Dipper will get a girl of his own one of these day if Alex let it happen.
You're amazing Erod!!!
I have been following you ever since your spectacular spiderman review and I have watched all of your videos and they are amazing and I do not know why you don't as many subscribers as the nostalgia critic.
trust me, its the best anime you will watch in your lives.
I think this show is underated
Good review
Yea i count gravity falls as one of the best cartoons and animated seris of all time along with my little pony and only the 4th generation friendship is magic and teenage mutant ninja turtles 2012. Also im an 18 year old dude so that should say a lot about what i choose to do in my free time
CHOOSES BLENDINS GAME INSTEAD OF NOT WHAT HE SEEMS
Alex Hirsch voices these characters. Other creators of cartoons voices multiple characters too. Seth Macfarlane, Trey Parker And Matt Stone, and even Walt Disney was Mickey Mouse's first voice (Or Carl Stalling who would later do the music for the Looney Tunes).
Welcome home erod
I use the opening theme song for the series as my phone's ringtone
I loved Gravity falls, best recent cartoon I have seen, way better than overrated Steven Universe or Adventure time.
