Husky is great. I have a similar setup and love it. Plus, leaves you with more money for more vehicle mods! Thanks for all the inspiration, everything is coming along great!
Check out the Liftmaster model 8500 Wall mounted garage door opener. Total changes the look of the garage. Also consider adding another section of track to raise the door open resting space really close to the ceiling. I designed my garage with scissor trusses for a cathedral ceiling.
I would go with the Husky option, here is my suggestion. To solve the height difference between the base cabinet and your toolbox I would build a platform raising it up to the same level this could be made out of 2x4 or 2x6 lumber painted black. Now for the two gladiator cabinets I would try and get the same kind of paint that the Huskies are painted with which I believe is a textured semi black finish and I would paint the two to match.
Space is looking good. As for the cabinets, I have the Husky as well. Not sure if you've seen them before. But Husky makes a corner upper and lower with the wood top if you wanted to continue off the tall cabinet. Which I could post a pic of my set up. I did the upper and used the wood top only and left the button open as a desk type area. Something you think about.
I’m going to go with the NewAge Pro cabinets when I do my garage. Seems like they offer the best bang for your buck. Quality seems good, nice neutral color options, soft close drawers and all at a reasonable price point. Would it be possible to just keep what you have for now and when you have the money, buy the NewAge set? Personally, I’d rather wait and buy what I really want than get something right away just to get it.
Glad you're documenting it from start to finish. One thing I wish I would have done with mine... I think I was probably so frustrated with how ugly/non-functional it was beforehand that I didn't want any memory of it 😅😂. Congrats on the progress so far!
Haha I hear ya. It’s always fun to share to process. Most just want to see the end result quickly, but I think it’s important to document it all. To see where it came from and the major progress that has been made. Seems to be a forgotten mindset these days.
Man husky seems to be the way to go. My boss has new age and I don’t care for them at all. I think he has the bold line which could be why. Plus u already have a few husky parts.
I would stick with husky they are already in the garage . Plus they are still a great product for the garage . Save the money for tools or other stuff you would like . Just wrap or paint the cabinets that are off a little . Plus husky does have the heavy duty steel cabinets you could add in the future to get rid of the flimsy steel stuff .
YOLO Spend the money and get what you truly want... in the beginning itll sting a little and will take some sacrifice but youll overall be happy and thats good for your mental health.
I would stick with the husky for now. Adding casters to the smaller cabinet could be handy to roll it around close to where you are working. Enjoy the new space when its done and if ya want to add more later ya still have options. This renovation has got to have added more value to your house too.
When you screwed in the brackets for the light, did the screw go through the garage door completely? Curious if there is a hole on the other side or even the screw poking out. As for powering the lights, have you considered plugging into the garage door opener bulb socket? That way, the lights turn on every time you open the garage and park the car.
The screws are about 1/4”. Possibly smaller. The door is over an inch thick so it’s not even close to the other side. The door lights I am only using for a specific scenario. I don’t need them on every time. Just when the door is up and I’m washing or working on the car.
Newage might just be it man i have husky and the cabinets and they pretty flimsy. Since you went all out on the garage id put something im going to enjoy looking at and grabbing my tools from so the best is the better for the long haul
I'm looking at the Pros myself as I redo my garage. Selfishly, I'd love you to go that way as you're a few months ahead of my project 😊 Would you frame out part of your back wall above the block/cement footing for the cabinets?
All the construction work is done. Furing out the back wall would have been a lot more cost involved to pull down existing Sheetrock and rebuild it back up. Kept it as simple as I could that fit within the budget.
Hey I clicked on your link for Amazon for the garage lights. It recommends only connecting 8 of them. Looks like you have 12 on one power source ?!? How’s that working out for you. Is it still holding up? I just bought the 8 pack but I might cancel it if you get back to me in time . Thank you
Let us know what you think of the lights in terms of rf interference, I have 4 of them in a U-shape on my garage ceiling (using those extension cords) and now when they are on my door opener doesn't work from right outside the door using the car remotes. My dad says the car gets crap reception of the radio while in the garage too.
Question? What is the size of your door and how many lights did it take total? I just want to get an idea before I order some. Great job though. You should be proud 👏 for sure.
No, they are powered in by a switch. Only use them when the door is up and need the extra light. You can have them wired to a motion sensor if you want them to turn on automatically.
Do you think these will hold with 3m tape? I really don’t want to drill into my garage door. Also are all of them in a chain? The link says you can only link up to 8.
@@Scoobyfreak86 I ordered 8, might need to change it to 12. Have you thought of a better idea for the power? Trying to think of something to leave it plugged in all the time.
Just do some cable management on the linking wires and leave them plugged in all the time, IMO. It'll look much cleaner than leaving them hanging all the time, whether they're plugged in our not.
@isaaclarson I didn’t mention it in the video but said I’ll manage the wires better. I’ll update in a future video on what I did as it’s much cleaner now.
I have the husky setup you showed. I also had the Swiss trax but then went with poly-whatever flooring with the flakes. I love cabinets. Worked for wood tools and detailing tools.
Dude, the garage door light idea is genius man! So innovative and I am sure a lot of people will follow this idea 💡.
The door lights look sick! Hope to have a garage half this cool some day
that's a great idea. I always have that same problem when the garage door opens. Thanks 👍

Discussed this in another video of what I plan on doing for the opener.
I have all Husky HD in my shop and Husky cabinets in my garage. We love them!
Definitely coming together. Husky all the way. The will do the same job at half the cost.
I went thru the cabinets question - ended up selecting New Age Pro line after exhaustive research. Been very happy with them.

I went with costco New AGE. Wait for a holiday special and you can get them at a good price. I went with the pro line 11 price set for $2,300.
Looking forward to tariffs back in order!

Nice! Goodluck on it all. It gets worse before it gets better. Something I keep reminding myself through it all haha. Any questions, lmk.

I had 12 linked together on the ceiling for 4 years before I put them on the door and no issues at all.
@@Scoobyfreak86 perfect thank you very much.

I used them on the ceiling prior for many years. Didn’t have any issues with that.
awesome but curious how long it will last without any issue. The lights are not rated to endure this kind of repeated vibration like garage door.
I’ll be sure to update over time and if any issues arise.
Do you have any bikes that you'll be storing once the garage is completed? If so, what storage system are you utilizing for that?
I have 2 sheds to handle all that stuff. One for lawn stuff. The other for bikes and kids stuff.

16’. 12 lights total.
@@Scoobyfreak86 last question Amazon shows Super Bright or Daytime Bright option. Do you recall which ones you went with?

No, they are powered in by a switch. Only use them when the door is up and need the extra light. You can have them wired to a motion sensor if you want them to turn on automatically.
NewAge cabinets are amazing for their price point

I don’t think they will and wouldn’t want to find out if one fell on a car.
Iva had 12 of them linked together for 5 years and never had an issue.
@@Scoobyfreak86 I ordered 8, might need to change it to 12. Have you thought of a better idea for the power? Trying to think of something to leave it plugged in all the time.
@M3TRISTAN I just unplug it when not in use. But the door can open and close easily while still plugged in.

Hi mate, how thick is your door that you can screw directly into it? I thought most doors were only thin sheetmetal?
They are only 1/4” screws. Door is over 1”
