Love what you’re doing, I’ve been watching you since you were the gardener on the Chateau Diaries. I’m Jewish and 77 years old, born just after the Holocaust, and knowing how some Jewish kids were hidden and protected from the Nazis in this very house means so much to me. I’d like to see it whole again and I’m sure many such as myself feel the same way. Thank you for choosing this particular building to bring back to life.
To know that this place of sanctuary in dark times is becoming a place of love and happiness for Dan and his family is just awesome :)

@@StreetTruckinTitan Will be interesting to see if they go back and put that sloped edge on the first roof rim, before adding flashing and gutters. I'm surprised they elected to put up battens on the roofing membrane on the new side, but left the old side alone.

But I'm sorry to say while the effort is tremendous, I've rather lost faith in the end-result: a faux-chat of possibly the most pastiche period lashed up to provide a knocking-shop retreat for a nob. I do get the "war orphanage" credentials, but tbh, heritage is not the thing here, for me: Dan making a home might be the best thing this place has ever experienced ❤

What I find amazing is that besides all the actual great work done on rebuilding the house, Dan has to lay out a filming track as well. He is so good at that too!

Doing it through Winter is not a good idea, I understand he wants the roof done but it should only be in good weather, there is loads of work and inside under the Wings which can be carried out with some protection from the weather, he should only work on the roof until the weather changes!?!

This is fantastic, can believe how much progress has been achieved so far. Great team with Brian and Nick.
Because of how crumpling it looks, surprising to hear that the tower is actually mostly at the height it once stood. It's a testament to how despite a lot of the masonry now being more like sand, specially the most exposed parts of the chateau walls. It clearly had been work done conscientiously back in the day and with diligence. Between things like the back Arch still being standing, walls of each wings being still pretty much level to one another, and the turret still standing pretty much where it once was when it had a roof. Astounding! You really found a bit of a gem, lots of love to bring it back from the brink, but you are absolutely doing it!
I so admire your bravery and your skills Dan, you can do this, we are all cheering you on. So enjoy your two friends too, they work so hard
