    1) He makes time for you/keeps in touch with you ( daily )
    2) His actions match his words
    3) He is transparent about his past
    4) Does he engage you in his life into his personal life/ asks your opinion on things in his life
    5) He asks you to meet his family and friends/wants to blend you into the people in his life
    6) He is protective of you physically and emotionally
    7) He understands that relationships are about building a future together/commitment, not about "just living in the moment"
***you give wondferful advice Jonathon, you saved me from wasting too much time with a serial dater/"I just live in the moment" man. Life is too short to waste with people who don't have the same goals.

I’m a divorce attorney myself (yep, even we have emotions and love us some dating advice lol) and I have to disagree with the entrance statement. Marriages after the 50s and nowadays don’t get divorced bc of an abundance of divorce lawyers. In the 40s, 50s and earlier women were depending completely on their husbands. Economically and socially. They basically couldn’t escape even the most abusive marriage as “easy” as it’s possible now. So back then in most cases, men and women were literally stuck in their marriage bc of circumstances not bc of love.

      I agree with that...

      @mitaalqahtani Год назад +4

Agreed! There were also no laws to support women in domestic violence situations until the early 80's. Women's rights in the 50's simply didn't exist. Thank God there is legal support for women and men to get out of abusive relationships and have a chance at happier, healthier lives.

Great video, thanks for sharing. My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, Really love her so much, i can’t stop thinking about her. I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated because i literally can't envision my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.

I was a vey successful matchmaker.
If you deal with people who made up their mind that they want and need a committed relationship it's amazing to watch how fast they find their match, especially if there is a neutral party in between who ask all the important questions up front.
My clients were typically lawyers, doctors or successful business people who were mostly targeted by gold diggers or prestige seekers.
There is also an aspect that most people don't know about.
You can go together or separate to a lawyer and draw up a relationship contract where both parties agree on the mutual guidelines and also the consequences for breach of contract.
You can have the ring, the party and even change your name - all without marriage. You can own a home together as "tenants in common" instead of community property for example where it is spelled out who pays for what.

Your video helped clarify the situation with the man I'm currently seeing. He's hit every single one of your points and has never pressured me for anything. I took your advice starting at the first date and laid all my cards out on the table, and told him I was looking for a husband and life partner. I didn't scare him away by telling him exactly what I wanted. The best part, he wants the same things I do and isn't rushing anything. I cannot tell you how much happier I am from following your advice. My 17 year old has even noticed the difference. I finally found a builder! I wish I'd found you sooner!

VIDEO IDEA: I like how you say, "Lay your cards out on the table, early on" I am an IFS Therapist, and I know what you mean, but I wonder, does your audience know what you mean, very specifically, without you saying very specifically. Sentence by sentence describing what a woman needs to say. Ah, now I hear you define, "the rules of engagement." That is really good. I would love to see a video where you give 5 specific sentences, for the "rules of engagement" kinds of conversations. For the specific kinds of conversations they have to, "put the cards on the table" and give context to that specifically. You are right, most of America is dysfunctional. What I find is that one of the bigger wounds from childhood was that no one had a positive adult mentor to teach them the ropes of how this life works and how relations works, and most often because they got n negative roles models for relating. This is why I am requesting this. It is a way for the world to hear the actual words to say (for very close) modeled to them, and that is something that is hard to muster up when a person has never had anyone modeling that type of communication.

The increase in a woman's ability to support herself is the reason divorce became an option. Prior to birth control and women's rights that were achieved in the 70s women didn't have the means to support themselves so they were forced to stay in their marriages regardless.

    Hi!
I understand that divorce rose drastically once women had access to more economic security. Previous to the 1970s, women could not take out a loan or get a credit card or rent a place to live without the permission of their father or husband. (Something most young women aren’t taught but should know!) There were institutional barriers making it very hard for women to leave marriages. I think once women had the economic power to leave abusive and unfulfilling marriages, many took, and continue to take, the chance!
Is that the only reason for the rise in divorce? Probably not.
    That’s my 2 cents.
All of that said, I am grateful for all of the dating advice you share! Thanks!

Some great reminders! I have lived with past partners but never really ended well so I may just need to wait longer or even wait before I get married to live together. It can be very stressful if one person refuses to leave. Still trying to figure out what I want before dating again. Another downside is it seems ppl view relationships are disposable which makes it hard to find good partner.

Thanks for the 7 signs! Through the signs you listed, I now understand that the person I crushed on didn't want to be committed to me, because he didn't meet all 7! It's tough to even get him to open up about his past. Years ago, he did though. I think he needs to do more inner work, so yeah I get why he's not the man for me. Looking forward to more guidance from you :)

I like to share something in relation to the book Johnathan recommended. In addition to many other key factors in finding the fittest person for oneself is family constellation including birth order, number of siblings, and sibling genders and relationships. For example, men who don't have sisters as siblings tend to find it more difficult to relate to females partners. There are good studies out there about family constellations and relationships. Yeh, I agree, finding the person who put an equal or atleast close to the amount of personal development one had put in is important because it will increase the chance of finding the right partner, stop wasting time in going through the number game, reducing conflict, and maintaining and keeping a satisfied and healthy relationship as time progress for life changes, which are all mechanical parts of the relationship as Johnathan said...
