I think one of my favourite parts is that Lydia herself isn't the first to speak up, she's a bystander and is scared to speak up but the kid who hasn't learned that same fear takes a stand to lead the others. Also, that a lot of the first women to speak up do seem to be poc because historically, it has been poc people who have led the fight.

The woman after Medusa was Joan of Arc, we had Rosa Parks in there, Anne B. Like this song captures the aspect of religion in the home as well, like a mother will raise their daughter in a way, so they'll raise their children how they were raised and its a vicious "pious" circle which always claims that Eve was in the wrong and typically overly-religious households become abusive either verbally or even physically at least in my experience.

I love it how Lydia protects the little girl
And as a girl myself and as a Christian this song hits different

Same... I honestly hate the people who used our religion for hate. It was never meant for that. Christians are meant to spread love.

Women. Females is a descriptive word used for animals and non human things. It’s dehumanizing, which is why a lot of women don’t like when men use it. -someone with an English degree.

Yeah, not to mention the take of "he's just chilling and these female are fking up his whole life!"...definitely is in line with the with theme of this song, just from the POV of someone who didn't understand it at all!

It's so weird to see men react to this song and miss the... Point?? Like they kind of get it but they also completely miss the point?
It's a song about women, all women across time. The witch hunt, mythology, history who were wronged because of patriarchy but never saved by other women who were too scared to take their place.
The mothers are victims, the daughters are victims, everyone is a victim of conditioning and fear. It's a weird historical fear and anger that resonates with women from "Eve" to now.
Why does no one question why Adam was allowed to just touch Lilith if she didn't want, why was he "punished" for Eve's sin if God is perfect. Adam must have indulged too and people forget that. For me it's a mythology but it's not any less heartbreaking.
