No, she moved to Austin She's very happy there, or so we hear She's always been so goddamned independent The years go by and now we barely see her" "Our daughter, Judith? You must be mistaken You mean the girl we raised as if our own? We loved her so much she felt like our child But eventually we had to send her home" It'd be their word Only their word It'd be their word Only their word On its own

the part of the song that always fucks me up is "an inconvenient truth can be easily erased," which is then followed by the story of her near death experience. she realized that if her parents saw her and her death as an 'inconvenient truth,' they would simply erase it by essentially disowning her as ever being their 'real child' in the first place.
I also think the writers foreshadowed the drowning with the “nautical decor” “we haven’t been on our boat in some years now” and some other water related situations throughout the song. The truth of her life was drowned before she stepped into the tub. It’s a really good metaphor in my opinion. She really struggles to tell her ex-husband because no one else in the world has ever known the full story of her life. Not even either of her own parents.
I like that in the song when Judith is imagining what her parents might say upon hearing that she drowned, that she sings "It'd be their word, only their word, on its own." because it's not against someone like previously, they don't even need to lie. It really shows that they're compulsive liars and lie even when unneeded.
I was suicidal once, the same thoughts came to my mind. First thing my abuser would do is say something insane.. like they loved me or they had no idea why I'd want to kill myslef at all... essentially erase the truth of what happening my life. If I died, my words wouldn't mean anything, it be only their word - on its own and that thought made me sick. AS a teen who was raised IN A NOT SO Functional household, There's a lot of truth in that a parent/abuser may lie about something so crucial even if it doesn't seem like they have to lie, when bad people are pushed against a wall and a hard choice when their reputation could take any kind of hit, it's only natural they'll spew some lies to make it all better for them. That said, I cared about them getting the last laugh and changing my narrative.. beause there's nothing more disturbing than your thoughts feelings and sense of self being extinguished when you can do nothing to stop it.
Also her parents state that they took care of her LIKE THIER OWN….????? Like wut excuse me lol IS SHE ADOPTED?? If YES then WHY THE CRAP did you choose to be parents when BOTH of you seem to be unstable compulsive liars and manipulative narcissists ….. I am confusion
@@margauxvirra no its them being compulsive liars, saying they don't have a daughter because in their minds, any daughter of theirs would never commit suicide
I believe that "it'd be their word, only their word on its own" means that no one objected to what her parents said, meaning that everyone accepted their lie just because everyone knew she 'got what she deserved' or idk I haven't listened to the whole musical
I like to think throughout the entire song she is foreshadowing her death ( talking about water, the sea, etc) like by saying her father fancied himself a sailor and keeping the water calm and talking about their boat
I think the reason why Judith said "literally everything" was because her parents raised her wrong. Instead of teaching her to own up to her mistakes and face the consequences for her actions, she was taught to lie and cover herself, to do anything to paint herself in a good light. She was never punished which enabled her. The first time she probably ever faced consequences was when she nearly drowned after being careless with drugs. Her inability to own up to her past and her need to seem perfect is what essentially doomed her relationship in the beginning.
The thing is, she _did_ drown. She died for 3 minutes. It took literal death to learn her actions have consequences, yet still kept up a lie for 2 years because that’s what she was taught and that’s all she knows
Beyond not being punished, she was literally instructed to lie. With that ship in a bottle, where everything started, she immediately told the truth and expressed remorse. It was basically a perfect way of handling the situation. Then her mom told her to lie about it instead and put her down this path. Without that parental influence, she might have become an entirely different person. That doesn't excuse what she did, but it does help explain the why behind her.
The way they said they 'don't remember a boat in a bottle' but then contradict themselves by saying they *know* the dad loved it. There is no perfect lie.
Ehh, well, if someone loses something you didn't know they had you could still consolingly say "I'm sorry, I know you loved it", it's not necessarily contradictory
3:50 I like how she became more confident in each trial. In the first one she's frowning and avoiding eye contact. In the second one she is still frowning but now she is looking at them in the eyes. And in the third one she is looking at their eyes with a smirk on her face.
I personally think that she was taught more and more on how to be and act in a situation like that, like how she looked at her parents the last time to probably see if she was doing it right, but I also agree with this
The "we never rented a house in sedona" chorus is the single most powerful moment in the musical. She (probably) admitted to arson, murder and durg smuggling so yeah that is some powerful truth.
I don’t think she killed Camille, or smuggled drugs, I think that all the situations are about taking drugs. The first one is a party that got out of control and maybe caused a fire, the second one is Camille taking drugs with Judith and ODing, and the third is a party of Judith’s getting busted and they lying about they throwing it, because illegal drugs.
@@atree9284 nah you see clearly Camille head bleeding and Judith dropping a bottle. My hypothesis ? They were drunk and fought, Judith just went overboard and it was... Tragic.
Man, I love how Judith in the court scenes really gives off that "rich person who doesn't care about other people" vibe so strongly. Like, just looking at her I get a visceral sense of, "She's lying, and nothing will make her stop lying, even if her lie falls apart she will continue lying, she is selfish to a stubborn degree."
@@ajax068 I don't think it's impossible, but I also don't think she has to. Judith is an adept manipulator, and I feel like at this point in the story she's leaning more towards framing the truth in ways that will get her the desired outcome than lying outright. But she could be; I don't doubt she would. What do you think she's lying about, though? I'm curious.
I think she lying on her parents character specifically. That they're horrible, lying, manipulative, people that only care about their image, and taught her to be this way. When the truth might be that they're decent human being that did the best they could in raising her. I mean she even says "doesn't matter who gets screwed or who is blamed do what you need to do to clear your name an inconvenient truth can be easily erased" and the inconvenient truth here is her parents character. Remember the facts on Judith's character are she a manipulate lair and she wants Jase back. This whole story right here is a way to put her in a victim light so Jase feels sorry for her.
I feel like a lot of people don’t get that the house in Sedona, Camille’s death, and whatever was found in the boat are 3 separate occasions (which is weird because she says so only a few lines before) so great job clarifying it with 3 different courtroom scenes cut into one
@@HoneyLimeChips if you don't mind me asking, is it stated anywhere official that she was adopted? I only ask because I always interpreted that line as Judith's parents lying about having a daughter.
I've noticed there's suddenly animatics for this musical and I am so happy. People been sleeping on it for so long, and I am glad its getting the love it deserves.
I know right! I’ve been listening to this musical for the past year and I’ve been disappointed that there’s no animatics for it and suddenly when I looked for it today there’s a bunch!
i love that you had the mom do the talking first when “hearing the news” because i think the mom very much was kind of the. brains of this operation. and then the father was the one who said the one about her not being biologically theirs because it puts distance between him and her and i think he was a very cold parent and very business and not family. i think the mother was cold to but in the mother’s eyes i think judith was *hers* and to the father i think his idea of family and fatherly love was that he loved and owned judith *’s* successes and would disown judiths shortcomings, therefore disowning a part of her. and i think he would consequently disown her death (drug related and all). which is why i love we watch him say, like. zoom in on his mouth and reeeaally watch him as he says: *“as if our own”* clearly drawing his line in the sand that judith is not his. and therefore her mistakes are not *his* . it’s *as if* she were his. but she’s not *his* where the mother denies that judith is even dead because i do think the mother cares. the mother is calculating and cold but i think she loves judith even if it’s in an unhealthy creepy controlling way. and i think her denying judith is dead is the reason she can be so cold and unfeeling looking with the cop. so yeah. i think you did a great job with that part and i wouldn’t have done anything different had i storyboarded it myself!! i love love love how this turned out i think you did an amazing job (i’m so sorry if this sounds patronizing or condescending i don’t mean it like that at all) and you really brought the song, and the story of this song contextually in the musical, to life in a beautiful way *also:* your use of color was stunning and i loved it. super smart (like, the door of her cheating mom lining up with the door and color scheme of her apartment the night she comes home and she’s not doing alright) (and how in court she was at first a color shade that was pretty close to her parents and then to the third court scene she’s actually toughly the same color she was before but her parents are darker so she stands out more and looks either more independent or defiant) *also also:* i really love how judith looks to her mom when they tell her father about the boat in a bottle and judith smiles and then judith mimics herself, doing the same thing, in the third court shot when she’s staring down the judge
For Judith's mother there is some foreshadowing - "We don't remember a boat in a bottle." Instead of "we didn't break it." "You have the wrong person. Our daughter Judith? No it wasn't her." Instead of "it wasn't drug related" etc.
@@nagi9990 Depends on the lie. Someone who’s confident in their lie and is telling it as if it’s something to be proud of might look you in the eyes, but someone who’s telling a lie that they’re supposed to be ashamed of might look away as if they were actually ashamed.
let me help you guys understand…the house on fire(occasion 1) and the girl lying on the floor with the bottle next to her head(occasion 2) and the drugs in the boat(occasion 3) are three separate occasions she starts by saying “we never rented a house in sedona” (occasion 1) then she goes “we didn’t see camille the day she dies (occasion 2) and the finally she says “we never owned a boat so we don’t care what’s inside (occasion 3)
7 minutes of pure perfection Lipsyncing, animation, colors, and mood. The perfect amount of emphasis using animation on certain parts adds to the mood so well and it's completely amazing God I just love this art style so much Jesus I'm obsessed
this is SO CRAZY good you know how much i like this musical so this is so awesome to see and im SO IN LOVE with how this turned out and how you boarded it.... u rlly had the guts to do what no one else does ur so inspiring
Aaaa omg 🥺💖💖💖♥️♥️♥️ stop!!! You’re so nice!!!!!!!!!!! You’re awesome thank you so much for your support!! And I’m glad you like 36 questions and that I got to get you into it haha :))💖💖♥️♥️
Is any of this wild stuff she's apparently done ever addressed in the rest of the show? I don't remember it but it's weird that Jace would gloss over it 😂
I always found it weird too but felt like it was probably rationalized by Jace offscreen as her having been a drug addict. The house in Sedona was probably messed up because of a drug fueled party and they didn't want to get in trouble since it was rented, Camille probably OD'd around Judith and the family helped her hide it to not look like murder, and the cops probably found lots of drugs on the boat (Judith might have sold it) which the family hid for their reputation.
@@879SCSP i always wondered who saved judith because the paramedics showed up and she was dead for a few minutes but who called them and how did they know? because it's implied she was alone but idk
You captured the “three times” exactly how I imagined them! I also love the detail of Judith appearing in court each time getting bolder and bolder about lying. Great job!
I love that in this animatic even without the father's eyes you can see the... the distrust in the way he holds himself. The insecurity and everything from someone who has likely been gaslit for so long and knows they're likely lying but... he has nothing he can rebut with.
Anddddd so I spent the rest of the day yesterday listening to the soundtrack, and then the entirety of all three podcasts, and crying multiple times throughout. Thank you, sincerely 👏
@@koilynn7450 Hey, just a note to you! If you’re gonna listen, listen to the podcast- it’s a podcast musical, which basically means the script and songs are recorded on podcasts. I made the mistake of listening to the soundtrack and realizing after that the full thing was only a few clicks away the whole time. Just look up “36 Questions the musical” and the podcasts should come up on whatever platform :))
@@sophiaredwood5825 thank you so much! This song showed up for me on Spotify by itself and I was immediately in love with it and have been trying to figure out what this musical is!
The third verse really reminds me of The Cranberries lead singer Dolores O'Riordan who died young. She was found dead in the bath, having drowned after being drunk and taking a bath. It was tragic- she had been in a bad spot in her life but seemed to be getting better, and in a voicemail she left the day earlier she was talking about her kids and making plans for the week. She was iconic and so talented, peace on her soul.
My favorite part is how we never get to see the eyes of the parents, the windows of the soul. In my head it’s some reference to how they don’t have a soul, and how the daughter never actually saw her parents as parents. Just strangers who would make up for her mistakes.
When I heard that snippet from tik tok I always wondered why it sounded almost as if they were trying to convince the police that there daughters fine, I thought maybe just shock but now I know that there just pathological liars and never really took blame or faced anything they did
It was her earliest memory of it, likely enough. The patterns were there in her parents almost certainly _before_ she was eight; she was just too young to appreciate them as such.
This is incredible!!! I love the different colors you used on each scene and the way you switched from trial to trial and had her to continue to voice the story was so great! It was also such a nice detail that we never saw her parent’s eyes, I think their eyes being hidden really shows that they’re deceitful and cold people in contrast to the daughter that they failed to raise. Really good job and so much credit to you for doing a whole six minute song omg!
This is really good, been obsessed with the musical for about a month now but I've known of it. I was surprised there wasn't much animatics since its such a good musical. Nice vid
↪For any1 that didn't get it from the podcast, main character Judith Fords backstory is sad. She was raised by a wealthy family in arizona. Went to university, studied to be a writer in college so she moved to the big city, while she was living in new york she became a babysitter when she came home form babysitting one night, she Took drugs and took a bath, where she drowned she was found three minutes later and brought back to life. she also didn't expect Jace to be okay with her real Life story, and her parents influence on her as she says in this quote .( for the record it was right before q11) "I want to take advantage of this perfect moment... (what's perfect about it?) You are here. I'm here. I told you .. 'everything' ... and you didn't push me out of the car."↩ Because lets be honest, having baggage and possibly having something to do with A death (Camile) is a bit of a deal breaker.
Omg I read a bunch of comments and noticed how you made the Father be the one to claim Judith wasn’t even their daughter. Like everyone noticed, she seemed closer to her mother (especially with how this is animated), and it can look like the mother, upon hearing of her daughter’s death in New York, might just be genuinely shocked because she didn’t know Judith was even in New York, and perhaps be in denial of her death. On the other hand, it’s the Dad who would create the lie that Judith isn’t even their real daughter
This animatic caused me to listen to the entire thing last night! Thank you for doing so. This song is by far my favorite and it's so interesting and pleasant to the ear. I rarely find a story that (and I know its weird) reminds me of Bojack Horseman, the depth and realness of a human and their flaws and how it effects others is a marvelous thing. This animatic really brought the song to life! I applaud you for that.
Never seen the musical but the vibe I get is from Judith. The father: Cold, angry type, cares more about reputation and items then his own family. Mother cheats due to most likely not really being in love with the her husband also she most likely lied that neither was home more for herself then Judith cause she would be the one to blame for letting her go where she isn't meant to. Judith always afraid of parents being angry, and just wants to feel rewarded by her mother and not just some screw up I think its guilt that gets to her and all she wanted was to be loved and rewarded but it slowly eats at her. As she got older she was impulsive and angry and most likely burnt out took to drugs and alcohol way to cope it felt like she could do no wrong intell things go wrong. She goes to her parents cause she didn't wanna face her own actions and choices, and by the point of 26 she is alone prob screwing over and screwing up all her friends she had isolating herself not only for the trauma of having to deal with the 3 situations that keep her up at night and panic, guilt and anxiety becoming too much to handle so she takes downers but the side effects don't kick in fast enough for her so she makes another impulse decision and she gets kinda "When you die reality kicks you in the ass" type thing and realizes her parents don' t love her they just want to save their own ass and they'd do it at any cost. But obv habits kick in and she still lies cause she still didn't wanted to be rejected or shamed for what her family is and who she was
I get the sense from the courtroom scene that she's still conflicted about lying, but she's assured by her parents that this is the "right" thing to do

Angelica, Your skilled talent, creativity, educational ability, and family dynamics shine strongly. "Back in the day" true life with the various pain(s) that you eloquently highlighted was totally hidden behind closed doors. Family members have suffered generationally. Children growing up in violent homes at extreme risk of physical harm. They are introduced to alcohol and drugs. Sometimes, there appears as though there is no safe person to confide in or that can help the child grow in a safe environment. We learn that these behaviors repeat themselves. I applaud you for your honesty, openness, and ability to visualize the abuses that occur in relationships and how an individual may struggle not knowing a healthy response. Your art paints a clear picture of what happened "back in the day" for decades; even today. Change starts with awareness, thank you for your strength to be so demonstrative.
I- my God. I really love the musical, it was so cool to be able to experience the musical in a podcast medium, but throughout I couldn't help but think about what it would look like on the stage, and this helped me so much with visualising it! Aaaa omg thank you!! It means so much that you like it, thank you for taking the time to watch it! I love 36 questions, thank you so much for helping create and put it out into the world!!
oh my god, I always wanted to see an animatic for this musical but hardly any exist! And this is one of my favorite songs, it’s the first one that got me into the musical podcast :,) I’m so happy and it looks so good in just the first 5 seconds alone !
Ok so I don't know if anyone else noticed this but in this animatic, the daughter seems to have a somewhat close relationship with the mom. (Idk the characters names, sorry!) Like in the beginning when she told the mom and the mom kept the secret. That might've started a sorta strong bond between them because in the last court room scene, for a brief moment she looked at her mom then smerked. Also when the parents found out their daughter died in the daughters thought, the mom has her lips parted a bit before they lied, unlike the dad, implying that she actually cared for her daughter. Idk if this is intentional or not but still, great attention to detail!!
I love this!!! The detail and color use and all the layers of meaning...and the time it must've taken! The song feels different for me now. Thank you so much for making this!
THIS IS INCREDIBLE OMG im so glad you kept the piece of dialoge at the beginning, i had forgotten about it bc i usually just listen to the song ^^ AND THE EXPRESSIONS OMG you can feel Natalie's growing guilt and then apathy and AAAAAAA the different colour palettes were also stunninG and ooh the "three times i nearly wrecked my life" >>> I'd never thought about arson but it fits so well overall 10/10, I'll definitely rewatch it a bunch of times now
Omg I am always searching for 36 questions animatics bc I love seeing how artist interpret the song and you did like such an AWESOME job I love it and it’s flipping amazing 😆
So, I've got an odd compliment but- I really like this artstyle. It reminds me (for some reason) of Coraline. I also really like the transitions. They're so seemless from scene to scene. Like, from crying to her Mother to talking to her Father about the boat in a bottle for example. Was very nice to watch :)
You too man? Yeah the eyes and how the mouths moved also reminded me of Coraline. Judith and her red lips gave me Other Mother vibes. You ain't the only one who thought if Coraline lil
I love this sm! Your art style, colors, lip syncing, and choice you made like never showing the parents eyes really made it. I listened to the whole podcast after stumbling upon this and came back to it at least 10 times. Excellent work!!🖤
Awwww thank you!! I really appreciate the support, kind words, and the views!! And it’s such a good musical, i used to be so obsessed with it and I still love it!!
Can I just say how good this is? This is by far one of my favorite animatics ever and definitely the best one fore this song. I've played this over at least 8 times since I found it yesterday im so captivated by how good it issss.
I like how she slowly became her mother. When she was a kid her hair was long, then it got shorter, even in the present it's short and her make up mirrored her mother's lipstick. This is probably very obvious though 😅
This is literally the song that made me realize the dude is Jonathan groff which is cristoff and then I connected the dots that Jonathan groff is KING GEORGE from Hamilton!! LIKE WHATTT???
Man, this is one of the best animatics I’ve ever seen!! Congrats! :D I love Judith’s design, specially the one at 3:38 )) the father give me Gabriel agreste vibes lol
i am Yet Again watching this animatic, I LOVE THAT YOU INCLUDED THEM BEING IN YHE CAR IT BEING AN OLD IPHONE RECORDING THE AUDIO FROM THE PODCAST THE ACTUAL QUESTIONS BEING SHOWN AT THE BEGINNING THE A R T ITS ALL SO GOOD
I’M SO LATE TO FINDING THIS BIT YOU’RE SO TALENTED THE LIP SYNC IS SO GOOD BUT I SPECIALLY RLLY LIKED HOW U DRAW JUDITH U EXPRESS SO MUCH THROUGH THE EYES
This is STUNNING! I've never listened to this musical before and so I expected not to watch it all the way through, especially because my attention span allows me up to like 30 seconds with new seconds before it's done- but 6 minutes later and it feels like no time has passed at all because of how enveloped I was with the animation matching the beat of the music. This was a m a z i n g and I'm totally going to go check out this musical now!
wait what this is so fucking good!!!! i've been a fan of this show for years and this is the best animatic i've seen! if the movie they're making is half as good as this i'll be the happiest person in the world!!! congrats!!!

I was told to keep their secrets
And in turn they'd keep mine
As I got older, I got dumber
I couldn't help but cross the line
[Pre-Chorus]
Three times I nearly wrecked my life
Three times I nearly came to ruin
Three times went crying to my parents
Who said they'd make it go away
Yes, this is all we had to say
[Chorus]
"We never rented a house in Sedona
We didn't see Camille the day she died
We haven't been on our boat in some years now
So we don't care what you found inside"
And it's our word
Yes, our word
It's our word
Yes, our word
Against theirs
[Bridge]
Somebody was paid to make it go away
Everyone was paid to make the problems go away
Doesn't matter who gets screwed, or who is blamed
Or what you need to do to clear your name
An inconvenient truth can be easily erased
[Verse 3]
When I was 26
I was living in New York
I developed some fun habits
Put my white blood cells to work
I remember it so clearly
I was home alone on a Tuesday night
To level out, I'd popped some downers
But couldn't seem to get my mind right
I drew a bath and slipped into it
And suddenly became aware
I couldn't keep my head above water
I took a final gasp of air
[Pre-Chorus]
And as I laid there helplessly
A million different thoughts came to me
I saw my parents hearing the news
"Your only daughter drowned today"
I thought about what they might say
[Chorus]
"Our daughter, Judith?
No, she moved to Austin
She's very happy there, or so we hear
She's always been so goddamned independent
The years go by and now we barely see her"
"Our daughter, Judith?
You must be mistaken
You mean the girl we raised as if our own?
We loved her so much she felt like our child
But eventually we had to send her home"
It'd be their word
Only their word
It'd be their word
Only their word
On its own
Thank you!!

the part of the song that always fucks me up is "an inconvenient truth can be easily erased," which is then followed by the story of her near death experience. she realized that if her parents saw her and her death as an 'inconvenient truth,' they would simply erase it by essentially disowning her as ever being their 'real child' in the first place.
Nahhhh
Wow i didn't think of this, thanks
I also think the writers foreshadowed the drowning with the “nautical decor” “we haven’t been on our boat in some years now” and some other water related situations throughout the song. The truth of her life was drowned before she stepped into the tub. It’s a really good metaphor in my opinion.
She really struggles to tell her ex-husband because no one else in the world has ever known the full story of her life. Not even either of her own parents.
i just realized that in the end, her parents denied that Judith is their biological daughter. Like damn
Only her dad did
I like that in the song when Judith is imagining what her parents might say upon hearing that she drowned, that she sings "It'd be their word, only their word, on its own." because it's not against someone like previously, they don't even need to lie.
@@margauxvirra I took it as to make them seem like better people that she was adopted and they were the best and blah blah blah
I like to think throughout the entire song she is foreshadowing her death ( talking about water, the sea, etc) like by saying her father fancied himself a sailor and keeping the water calm and talking about their boat
oooh I never realized that!! cleverrr
She dies?!
never listened to the musical, only the song. What does the song mean by she dies. it sounds dumb, but if she’s dead, how is she telling the story?
@@GalaxysGatcaI think she got saved by someone
@@GalaxysGatca It doesn’t say how she survived but she did and this is a flashback song
Ya THINK?
“11. Take four minutes and tell your partner you life story in as much detail as possible”
I think she got that one cleared
Technically this was 7 minutes
She technically does an entirely different song for that question, its called "The Better Version" and its also much longer than four minutes.
@@moxstoleyoursocks2241Technically it was 6 minutes 59 seconds

I just thought they were saying they didn't remember the boat falling
Very observant, lieutenant
Ehh, well, if someone loses something you didn't know they had you could still consolingly say "I'm sorry, I know you loved it", it's not necessarily contradictory
@@eternalmiasma5586 I love the way you worded that, it's doing no good to my ego
3:50 I like how she became more confident in each trial. In the first one she's frowning and avoiding eye contact. In the second one she is still frowning but now she is looking at them in the eyes. And in the third one she is looking at their eyes with a smirk on her face.
Just steadily becoming used to it then enjoying it
I think it's more annoyance than smirking
She also dresses more casually with each one
I personally think that she was taught more and more on how to be and act in a situation like that, like how she looked at her parents the last time to probably see if she was doing it right, but I also agree with this
And still, in the third trial, she looks at mom for approval.

Am I the only one that thinks she might be lying throughout the entire song?
Cough (Amber Heard)
@@ajax068I think it can be interpreted as this and her finally telling him the truth I personally think the latter but that's just me
I feel like a lot of people don’t get that the house in Sedona, Camille’s death, and whatever was found in the boat are 3 separate occasions (which is weird because she says so only a few lines before) so great job clarifying it with 3 different courtroom scenes cut into one

What is this musical about?
i love that you had the mom do the talking first when “hearing the news”
because i think the mom very much was kind of the. brains of this operation. and then the father was the one who said the one about her not being biologically theirs because it puts distance between him and her and i think he was a very cold parent and very business and not family. i think the mother was cold to but in the mother’s eyes i think judith was *hers* and to the father i think his idea of family and fatherly love was that he loved and owned judith *’s* successes and would disown judiths shortcomings, therefore disowning a part of her. and i think he would consequently disown her death (drug related and all). which is why i love we watch him say, like. zoom in on his mouth and reeeaally watch him as he says: *“as if our own”* clearly drawing his line in the sand that judith is not his. and therefore her mistakes are not *his* . it’s *as if* she were his. but she’s not *his*
where the mother denies that judith is even dead because i do think the mother cares. the mother is calculating and cold but i think she loves judith even if it’s in an unhealthy creepy controlling way. and i think her denying judith is dead is the reason she can be so cold and unfeeling looking with the cop.
so yeah. i think you did a great job with that part and i wouldn’t have done anything different had i storyboarded it myself!! i love love love how this turned out i think you did an amazing job (i’m so sorry if this sounds patronizing or condescending i don’t mean it like that at all) and you really brought the song, and the story of this song contextually in the musical, to life in a beautiful way
*also:* your use of color was stunning and i loved it. super smart (like, the door of her cheating mom lining up with the door and color scheme of her apartment the night she comes home and she’s not doing alright) (and how in court she was at first a color shade that was pretty close to her parents and then to the third court scene she’s actually toughly the same color she was before but her parents are darker so she stands out more and looks either more independent or defiant)
*also also:* i really love how judith looks to her mom when they tell her father about the boat in a bottle and judith smiles
and then judith mimics herself, doing the same thing, in the third court shot when she’s staring down the judge
For Judith's mother there is some foreshadowing -
"We don't remember a boat in a bottle." Instead of "we didn't break it."
"You have the wrong person. Our daughter Judith? No it wasn't her." Instead of "it wasn't drug related" etc.
I absolutely adore how we never saw either the parents eyes, this is phenominal!!!
Do you plan on making more?
i want to make more if i get the time to :) and thanks!!!
Yes especially since lairs don’t look into people’s eyes

They go over the drowning in the dialogue between this song and the next
Never! Just completely ignores the girls death 💀

When I heard that snippet from tik tok I always wondered why it sounded almost as if they were trying to convince the police that there daughters fine, I thought maybe just shock but now I know that there just pathological liars and never really took blame or faced anything they did
this musical is on tiktok now? thats so cool
YES FINALLY A 36 QUESTIONS ANIMATIC IN MY RECCOMMENDED
Aww thanks for your support!! 36 questions is my fav
the way judith's expression shifts from during the courtrooms segment as she gets more and more comfortable with lying to the judge and jury
The fact that her lying started with something as tiny as breaking her fathers boat ended up with her lying about murder is crazy!

His study was filled with nautical decor
He kept a boat in a bottle on the top of a shelf
And it shattered on the ground when I slammed the door
I told my mother everything

This is all we have to say
"We don't remember a boat in a bottle
It must've fallen off its shelf alone
We know you loved it, we're so sad it's broken
But neither one of us was even home"
And it's our word
Yes, our word

So I hid screw-ups from my father
Made up school awards to please my mom

Whatever kept the waters calm
I was told to keep their secrets
And in turn they'd keep mine
As I got older, I got dumber
I couldn't help but cross the line
Three times I nearly wrecked my life
Three times I nearly came to ruin
Three times went crying to my parents
Who said they'd make it go away
Yes, this is all we had to say
"We never rented a house in Sedona
We didn't see Camille the day she died
We haven't been on our boat in some years now
So we don't care what you found inside"

Somebody was paid to make it go away

I thought about what they might say
"Our daughter, Judith?

She's always been so goddamned independent
The years go by and now we barely see her"
"Our daughter, Judith?
You must be mistaken
You mean the girl we raised as if our own?
We loved her so much she felt like our child
But eventually we had to send her home"

Sometimes, there appears as though there is no safe person to confide in or that can help the child grow in a safe environment. We learn that these behaviors repeat themselves. i’ve adored this musical for so so long now and this is literally my favorite song!!! i adore this animatic aaa!!! you did such a good job :(( !!!!
Awww thank you!!!!
When I was a little girl
Like really little like 8 or so
I was playing on my father study
A place in a house I wasn't suppose to go
My father fancy himself a sailor
His study was filled with
Kept a boat in a bottle on the top of the shelf
And it shattered on the ground when I shutter the door
I told my mother everything
I told her I was so so sorry
She told me don't cry
When he comes home tonight
We can make everything ok
This is all we have to say
We don't remember a boat in Vado
It must have fallen on the shelf alone
We know you love we are so sad it's broken
But neither one of us was even home
It's our word, our word
Against his
So I hide screw ups from my father
Made up school awards to please my moms
Whatever made it taste better
Whatever kept the water calms
I was told to keep their secrets
And in return they kept mine
As I grew older I got dummer
I couldn't help but cross the line
Three times I nearly wrecked my life
Three times I nearly came to ruins
Three times went crying to my parents
Who said that we'll make it go away
Yes, this is all we had to say
We never rented a house in Sedona
We didn't see her on the day she died
We haven't been in our boat in some years now
So I don't care what you found inside
And it's our word, it's our word
Against theirs
Somebody was paid to make it go away
Everyone was paid to make the problems go away
Doesn't matter who gets screwed
And who gets blame
Can be easily erased
When I was 26
I was living in New York
I developed some fun habits
Put my white blood cells to work
I remember it so clearly
I was home alone on a Tuesday night
To level out
But couldn't seem to get my mind right
I drew a bath and slipped into it
And suddenly became aware
I couldn't keep my head above water
I took a final gasp of air
And as I was laying there helplessly
A million different thoughts came to me
I saw my parents hearing the news
Your only daughter died today
I thought about what they might say
Our daughter Judith, no she moved to Austin
She is very happy there or so we hear
She's always been so
Our daughter Judith, you must be mistaken,
You mean the girls we raised as if our own
We loved so much she felt like our child
But eventually we had to send her home
It'd be their word, be their word, only their word
On its owns
Thanks for the lyrics I need them
You missed some lines btw
*His study was filled with nautical decor
*We didn’t see Camille the day se died

To all of you wondering this is a podcast musical and you can listen to the full thing in spotify
THIS IS PERFECTION!!!! I was obsessed with this musical over quarantine and was so mad that I could barely find any animatics for it. Amazing job!!
aww thank you!! I did my best haha :)
BROOOO I’m so glad this musical is getting the attention it deserves, this rocks!!
Thank you!! And no cap it’s such a good musical I love it !!
I’ve watched this several times. Really love all the effort you put in to each scene. The way you change Judith’s hair to show time passing and to express her changing personality is amazing!
Aww thank you!! Yeah I thought that was fun :) glad you like it!
Wow this gave me FULL BODY CHILLS! So incredible to see this song come to life. Thank you for this gift and your sweet skills!!
Aaaa omg thank you!! It means so much that you like it, thank you for taking the time to watch it! I love 36 questions, thank you so much for helping create and put it out into the world!!
oh my god, I always wanted to see an animatic for this musical but hardly any exist! And this is one of my favorite songs, it’s the first one that got me into the musical podcast :,)
I’m so happy and it looks so good in just the first 5 seconds alone !
Aw thank you for your kind words, and thanks for watching! 💖💖
I know very little of this musical, but this is amazing and honestly i love the amount of effort into this
Same
I find it interesting how she called her crimes inconvenient truths.
True, from her perspective.
...Learned sociopathy, y'know.
bruh this is so underrated, i can barely find any 36 questions animatics! i cannot tell you how much i love this musical aaa. great work!
Aw thank you! And yeah haha, it’s one of my favs !!
I love the detail of the 36 questions. In order just for like 10 seconds. Wow. Love it.
Ok so I don't know if anyone else noticed this but in this animatic, the daughter seems to have a somewhat close relationship with the mom.
(Idk the characters names, sorry!)
Like in the beginning when she told the mom and the mom kept the secret.
I’ve rewatched this like three times!! It’s so beautiful and tragic at the same time. Good job my friend!
Thank you!!
Omg I love this musical I’m so glad someone made an animatic for it 😀 I love how you used the blue and orange like in the cover
Aww thank you!! And yeah haha I thought it was a fun idea to use the colors from the cover
Wish this musical got the attention it deserves, THIS IS THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVES

What is this musical about??
It’s so good!!! I’ve been into it since like 2018 I think? And it’s so good
@@Awesomehotgirl13 it's basically a story of an estranged husband and wife trying to reconnect over the 36 Questions That Lead to Love
THIS IS INCREDIBLE OMG
im so glad you kept the piece of dialoge at the beginning, i had forgotten about it bc i usually just listen to the song ^^
AND THE EXPRESSIONS OMG
you can feel Natalie's growing guilt and then apathy and AAAAAAA
the different colour palettes were also stunninG
and ooh the "three times i nearly wrecked my life" >>>
I'd never thought about arson but it fits so well
overall 10/10, I'll definitely rewatch it a bunch of times now
aww thank you!! i'm glad you appreciate my hard work, and good eye!!! thanks for watching :)
So glad someone else is making an animatic of this gorgeous musical! Props to you pal, and you did the entire song! Amazing!!!
Aw thank you! Yeah it was no easy task to do the whole thing, but I love how it turned out!
Omg I am always searching for 36 questions animatics bc I love seeing how artist interpret the song and you did like such an AWESOME job I love it and it’s flipping amazing 😆
Aaaa thank you!! ♥️
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A 36 QUESTIONS ANIMATIC SINCE I FIRST LISTENED TO IT HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO GOOD
AAAAH TYSM
I love this sm! Your art style, colors, lip syncing, and choice you made like never showing the parents eyes really made it. I listened to the whole podcast after stumbling upon this and came back to it at least 10 times. Excellent work!!🖤
Awwww thank you!! I really appreciate the support, kind words, and the views!! And it’s such a good musical, i used to be so obsessed with it and I still love it!!
So, know this is about Judith. But I do wonder how anyone hasn't made an animatic of this for Steve Harrington. The song honestly fits
Can I just say how good this is? This is by far one of my favorite animatics ever and definitely the best one fore this song. I've played this over at least 8 times since I found it yesterday im so captivated by how good it issss.
Aa omg thank you!! You’re too kind ♥️♥️
36 questions really deserves to become a real Broadway musical
I LOVE THIS MUSICAL PODCAST THING SO MUCH!!! ALL THE SONGS ARE BOPS IT DESERVES MORE ATTENTION
OMG WHAT??? I never knew that but I hear it now omg
Ok the art and the way their mouths line up is amazing.
Man, this is one of the best animatics I’ve ever seen!! Congrats! :D I love Judith’s design, specially the one at 3:38 )) the father give me Gabriel agreste vibes lol
this is A M A Z I N G and it's not only because I love the musical and everything... but your art omg 🤩🤩🤩
Awww omg stopppp♥️♥️💖💖♥️♥️🥺
i am Yet Again watching this animatic,
I LOVE THAT YOU INCLUDED THEM BEING IN YHE CAR
IT BEING AN OLD IPHONE RECORDING
THE AUDIO FROM THE PODCAST
THE ACTUAL QUESTIONS BEING SHOWN AT THE BEGINNING
THE A R T
ITS ALL SO GOOD
a very quick addition: the only reason its not perfect is because henry isnt shown which i mean valid i wouldnt wanna try to draw a duck either but
@@pinkkittens Henry is shown! He’s in the back seat, I think he’s shown real quick twice at the beginning :)
And aww glad you noticed those little details!!! ♥️♥️
@@AngelicaNyneave :OOOO i didnt notice that!!! he is worth Everything :D
I’m sorry…
A CONTRIBUTION TO THIS FANDOM?
Thank you, I’ve been looking for animatics of these for so long.
I have been trying to look for people who I can talk about 36 questions with 😭
Oh my god I LOVE your character designs, and the way you split between the three courtroom scenes/events was FANTASTIC!!
aa thank you! it means a lot that people appreciate the little details :)
This is amazing!! There’s not a lot of content for this musical so I appreciate this so much.
I can't stop watching this omg!! The art is so good! 💗
I’M SO LATE TO FINDING THIS BIT YOU’RE SO TALENTED THE LIP SYNC IS SO GOOD BUT I SPECIALLY RLLY LIKED HOW U DRAW JUDITH U EXPRESS SO MUCH THROUGH THE EYES
Awww thank you so much !! You’re too kind 💖💖💖
I've heard this song so many times now, it's a favorite, but watching this made it hit like the first time I ever heard it. DAMN.
Nice ! I’m glad :)
This was a m a z i n g and I'm totally going to go check out this musical now!
wait what this is so fucking good!!!! i've been a fan of this show for years and this is the best animatic i've seen! if the movie they're making is half as good as this i'll be the happiest person in the world!!! congrats!!!
