I'm not sure if you only see him here on the Cubase RUclips channel. But he has his own channel a well. Just his name. DomSigalas. And he has uploaded at least 4 or 5 videos in the last month. And they are usually about Cubase.
Hey Dom! Nice work, as always!! I was waiting on this video updating on the old one u made a few years back :). I'm a bit confused about what is going on under the hood of the voxcomp, can you tell me if it is by chance the classic combination of a 1167 style and a LA2A style? Or should I add the vintage/tube/valve compressor before or after it?
Standard are like a VCA Compressor right? The new Vox Compressor are a rip off the Waves Renaissance Vox. I use the Renaissance Vox on every mix. Sounds amazing what it do. Great that Steinberg has add that to their compression suite.
@@voinrima I've compared my Waves 1176+LA2A vocal chain with Cubase Tube Vintage comps etc. With a little tweaking you can achieve exactly the same result !! ...overtones and attack behavior included. (Measurement/Analyzer/HP+ears: double signal left (Waves) and right (Cubase comps) hard panned - same sound, same levels, same modulation. It works great. That says it all.
Your videos are always very interesting, however... I would like to be a fly wandering around your studio while you produce your songs and see the plugins your really use ... :D
I just love that we have all these choices, and they are all included in the DAW and 3 of those are available right in the channel strip. I almost never use a 3rd party dynamics processor plug ins except for more special effects or the final mastering dynamics processor.
@@voinrima I get it. Some of them do have filters and variable knee settings, however. Just not all of them. I think most of them have side chain input sources though.
Voxcomp is great for getting your vocals sit in the mix and to bring it forward. I find it to be somewhat harsh in the upper mid when compared to other 3 party plugins (mostly using UAD, distressor etc.) Is this something you´ve noticed as well?
I like simple Compressor, on drums, on mix busses, side-chain, or when I need just plain simple compression Vox comp is great for Vocals obviously, Black valve - on synths, brasses, etc. Vintage compressor - on parallel compression, sometimes on vocals, guitars as for Tube Comp - I tried it several times for different scenarious, but it didn't work for me, so not using it
The only thing that separates Pro-C2 from being an absolute allround beast is the distortion comression. Other clean compressors are useless, for example there is no wide knee settings or a graph screen. The Knee is maybe the most important thing in the whole compression.
Hello, I bought cubase 13 pro yesterday. But tell me there is a problem. I cannot access my audio files from the section on the right. The audio files of the cubase program appear, but mine do not. Could you help? I am using windows 11
If you had no measuring tools would you even know it’s aliasing? Measure the aliasing on Sound Toys Decapitator, it “looks” awful but sounds great and has been used on top hits and productions by the audio engineering elite for donkeys years.
I ALWAYS use the Compressor for sidechain because of the brilliant "hold" function. Gives me total control of the pump 💪
Can you do a video on how to roughly master using the channel strip and super vision? How to set the limiter and what lufs setting to use etc?
Everytime I see your videos I cannot wait to turn on cubase and try out things😅 you have a great way to wake up my creativity. Thanks a lot for that!
Same here 😂
Black Valve is FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥
Glad that ure still with us) Havent seen your videos for a pretty long time! Thank u Dom!

Would appreciate a video on limiters as well ( brickwall / maximizer ), and maybe even comparing them to some of the compressors.
second that
Does Cubase 13 have True Peak limiters? Cheers!
The Black Valve is fantastic on Bass guitar , add lots of drive drive and it cuts thru the mix . Cubase are knocking it out of the park
It has some noise without even using it. I have no idea why.
Love the standard compressor, it has been my go-too for drums for while now.

Thanks Dom, compressors finally explained well.
Thanks Dom love the 80s track!
I like how the Black Valve adds a little something even with no compression. It gets a fair bit of use in my mixes.
I normally use Vintage on everything, but I can hear the advantages of the others for certain elements, so I'll need to start doing that.
Vintage compressor is my Favorit.
would like to have the new C13 "VoxComp" and the "Black Valve Comp" (and "Raiser" maximizer) in Channel Strip modules too! (please @steinberg!!!)
was just about to ask that :-)
+1

Thanks a lot Dom very useful
yes. Cubase has so great fx and pro compressors, no need for thirdparty. Great times!
The only pro compressors are Pro-C2, ReaComp and smart:comp 2. Everything else is just kinda cool, not pro.
@@voinrima nope. In a full song arrangement with multiple tracks you can't heare these tiny nuances.

Dom, the Cubase guru's , a great artist & technician, thanks a lot for your work .

Cubase compressors dont have internal filters, channel linking and knee settings. For me, those things are absolutely necessary
@@voinrima I get it. Some of them do have filters and variable knee settings, however. Just not all of them. I think most of them have side chain input sources though.
Great video as usual! love the song too
Definitely would like more on stock plugins because I'm too poor to invest in top-range kit 😢.
dom as everytime you are incredible!!! thanx a lot
Thanks Dom, like always.
Always amazing tips Dom Thank you
Hi Dom, please I need your help on this. When i press control+S to save, it takes up to 1min before it’s done saving. How do i fix that??
Thanks Dom. Cubase has some amazing stock plugins.
Gracias!!! Great video!!
I use the multiband comp and transient almost all the time
Thank you, Dom!!
Voxcomp is a life saver
My favorit compressor is the mk3 Vintage.

what mouse are you using?
if possible link. Thank you

is there any video on freaquency masking in cubase pro ?
Thanks for a nice video

thank you su much
I wish the regular compressor had a sidechain filter. Kind of odd that it doesn't
The vox comp is great for impatient not very skilled people like me
Is wavelab pro needed along with cubase? Thanks
No wavelab is mainly for mastering (or podcasts i believe). It's a completly different programm.
soooo...vox comp ist like Waves RVox? haha
Спасибо бро
The first Comp mix level is at ZERO (Dry) or am I hallucinating?🤔
but I think I can hear some difference, should I trust my eyes or ears!!!
50/50 Dry/Wet is a strong volume jump.
Steinberg needs to fix this.
You need to change the dry/wet ratio.
Squasher doesn't have this problem.
While we're on the topic, "Dry Mix" on the stock Cubase compressor is absolutely confusing 😂 It should just be dry/wet or "blend" or simply "mix"
❤

Did you install the Files in the Download Assistent and activate them in the Steinberg Activation Manager?
@@littlewestghost7434 Yes, I downloaded all cubase files and activated them. but the problem persists
@@littlewestghost7434 I found the cause of the problem and solved it. thank you for your comment
@Would you mind posting what was wrong and what you did?
@@AcousticBruce There is a line in the lower right section where we need to see the audio files. I tried to move that line up and it worked.

Test the "black" for aliasing and then come back to me - it's terrible - no excuse Steinberg it's 2024.
It could be that this exists technically, however I've used it on vocals and absolutely love what it does, to each their own 🤷♂️

LOL. measuring and analyzer view. 😅
Use your ears.
This Cubase onstock comp is amazing and on par with pro expensive thirdparty stuff.
