The previous generation QX (up to 2018), and the EX and FX before that, are some of the best hidden gems on the market. They used the Z’s FM platform and VQ engines, and the R32/33 GTR’s ATTESA ET-S AWD system. The two generations prior to the one in this video were actually called the Skyline Crossover in Japan.
I would say that you should do a video about those older models and ATTESA in general (if you haven’t already) but I need to find a clean used example for myself before you let the cat out of the bag!

I have a 2017 Murano Platinum and I think has similar AWD system than this Infinity…in this 2 years, I put my Murano on the beach, mud and snow without any problem. The AWD system is fantastic in combination with the VQ35. I wish to have at least a “select terrain” system only to anticipate the system what will be my next surface, but the system do everything super well. The BIG cons y the towing capacity due for the CVT, and I think that is the same with this Infinity. I know at this time Murano is an old car, but I would love to see a Murano in a test like this one.

It’s a good looking suv but with this drive train it’s a no go for me. I was disappointed when this came out. The older ones have a much better drivetrain. They should do redesign and put either 3.8l v6 with a turbo or the redsport twin turbo 3.0l v6 with the 9 spd auto. Many people were really disappointed.

Do you all have access to the engineers that programmed the AWD logic? I learned a ton from the Dart videos. The programming was counterintuitive to what I learned about how to get out of ruts without electronic aids. I learned not to give the car more throttle for risk of getting more stuck. It would be interesting to see if there is a commonality between the AWD logic of the different brands.

I disagree with the infotainment being outdated. The screen quality is very good, I like it sitting flush in the dash, the gps is outdated but smooth. I think the “iPad” look sticking out of car dashes is just a temporary fad. It looks awkward, this flows and is artistic and luxurious. Build quality, materials, reliability, technology and features are great. They Aced the audio & improved the CVT greatly.

Now if only they added the new google infotainment system from the new Nissan’s, and gave us a traditional transmission. I know Nissan has improved their CVT over the years, but to me it’s just not acceptable to have that kind of transmission in a non hybrid luxury vehicle. It’s looking dated and ,,,,well, it’s an Infinity!! Lexus has done so well and is VERY current. As a competitor Infinity is definitely losing the race and there’s no real relief coming! Ouch!
That Performance in the mud was really amazing!! If you have never driven in that type of mud, you have never seen how dangerous and controlling it can be. Just the weight can make you slide, like right when Tommy tried to even line up with the ruts, let alone get into the obstacle!! There are a lot of AWD vehicles, even with better tires for mud, that would likely have failed. You need wheel spin!! Most cut all wheel spun out! Nice. Still think it’s not as current as it should be. The interior really is nice, but so is the competition,,,,,.

I gave my Q50 Hybrid for service and got a QX55 loaner. What an awful vehicle! The CVT is so annoying. Driving position is really strange. Technology is way behind. Felt way too slow for the price. And, the fuel economy seems lower than rated (but I only had it for a few miles). Regardless, I'm done with Infiniti and I'm surprised Nissan hasn't killed off the brand.

I would only buy a Infiniti if it was priced about the same as Nissan line up. It is little overpriced especially when it does not hold up value very well after warranty. Be prepared to replace the catalytic converters around when warranty expires.

There are plenty of scenarios where you might take a wrong turn and end up in a situation with a muddy mess and no way to turn around or too far in to back out. All wheel drive is most useful in snow and wet surfaces, but it was pretty impressive how it managed to get through that quagmire.
