Newb in the Kitchen: First Time Boiling Water

In my 60's now, and have been cooking since I was a child. I do remember, over the course of time, calling Nana for tips on making the perfect pie crust, or the time I boiled hard boiled eggs for 45 minutes and the yolks ended up green, but I don't recall learning the basics.
Most of my cooking nowadays is done on auto-pilot; been done so many times before.
It's really interesting hearing your thought process throughout this first time task, and you're very brave to have shared it.
Your finished dish looked, and surely tasted, delicious- well done!
