You crack me up! Even when you make a mistake "everything is fine". You sound like me. Well I'm more like "I meant to do that" or "no one will notice it but me". I would like to see you do the rainbow foil next.
So, I've done the foils on a couple cups. I used Elizabeth's double sided adhesive sheets. I got a bit ambitious and cut desines into the adhesive paper. Not a great idea. It was a PITA to apply that to the tumbler. But, the foils did like the stickiness. I have a video of it. I had tried Tack It, on some test pieces, but didn't get the the adhesion I was looking for. And fish eyes!!!! Yeah.... You did a great job.
Oh!! I thought I’d searched pretty well for other videos - I’m so sorry I missed yours! I don’t even know about adhesive sheets 😳 I’ll watch it straight away, and thank you for mentioning it here! Thanks very much!!
I went in to this video thinking you meant foil wrapping paper. So glad I was wrong, I really enjoyed learning something new. As to the next foil to use - aqua daisies!!
Love the Aqua Daisies and the rainbow! I've done foils once and badly 😅 I learned from you in the 'what not to do' phase. The cups are cool. I even liked the sprayed one that lost the holo. (and p.s. I have now watched a Lumi ad all the way through 😉🙄. Only for you! )
I agree with all Mary said! You showed me EXACTLY what booboo's I would have done!! Now.... I was wondering if you would ever consider using raw wool or bamboo (which is really shiny) in one of your cup designs?? No one had done this and since I spin yarn I have a bunch of it but I am too scared to try this myself!
Aqua daisies for sure! So glad I found this tutorial (by accident!). I’ve learned 2 important things. I like how you teach and I will NEVER do foil :). I lack the patience and confidence to try something like this. Excellent job for you though!
I love this! What a fun technique that makes a beautiful cup! Thank you for sharing what you've learned. I'd love to give this a try. ❤️. I like holo shards.
Ooohhh, so pretty. I vote for Aquq Daisies .. a side note about the cup that was sealed with the matte sealer... it adds a rustic appeal to it. I love it. They are all beautiful 😍. Thanks for all of you wonderful videos.
Oh my gosh! I so enjoyed your video! You saying everything is fine...made me laugh every time cause that is what I say when things are not going just the way I like...your attitude is awesome! You seem like someone I would be instant friends with. LOL Thanks I love learning through other's mistakes too.
Aqua daisies is my vote...I love fall colors so the foil of leaves is so pretty! Thank you Cindy for experimenting. When I see that your video is for 20mins I said YES!!!! love love your videos and yes when the struggles occur we all learn from you. "it's ok it's ok it's ok" lol
Thank you so much!! I expect other folks see the length of the video and cringe, so I'm glad to hear you like the more complicated videos that seem to take ages... 🤔🤣
They all are beautiful. How about putting another pattern foil over the one you sealed? Like a leopard pattern? It's already epoxied. That would definitely bring back the glittery. I saw Dixie Darlins do it.
Love your videos, they always brighten my day. I’m fairly new to tumbler making so love to see techniques that are new to me. I appreciate how you show any experiments that don’t go to plan also, that is a great help for learners like me. By the way, I’d love to see the aqua daisies.
I’m so happy I came across your video and started following you! Firstly you are amazing and you keep me laughing during your videos and you truly inspire me to want to try doing and using other stuff that I’ve been scared of doing! Thank you so much ❤️❤️ What do you use in your epoxy for your final coat to get it to sparkle please? Thank you 🌹🌹💜
Thank you so much - I’m very glad you enjoy the videos!! The sparkle comes from an ultra fine white opal glitter called 504 from Mr Nola’s Glitter (bit.ly/3A1AIdB). There is also Brite from Peachy Olive Glitter (bit.ly/3ycxAdd). Either will work 😊✨
I"ve also seen Rhonda from Rk3 use foils on countertops. So glad you experimented! I would like to see you use the Aqua Daisies! Site has some beauties for sure! Looks like a great way to do a "guy" cup with no glitter! Wonder how the solid colors would look and if you would have to be careful to not have any wrinkles?
Thanks! Yes, she's getting mentioned a lot, so I'll def check out her videos for more info! I also have other foils that I didn't show for the "pick the next cup" question, and some of them are solids, so I'll be trying those on a tumbler to see if it works or has too many issues.
For small spots that didn’t transfer use a craft stick to make it lay down. Use was water based varnish to seal your foil. And Dixie Darlin creations uses foil.
Thank you for sharing this! I've not seen this technique before and fell in love with all 3 of the cups :) I love all the designs you showed to vote on but, I think the shards or aqua daisies :)
Aqua daisies is right up my color alley and I’m sure you could figure out some snowflake Christmasy something to make it relevant to the season. Also this tumbler came out so cute and I just love the unicorn.
Thank you! These foils are really frustrating. I’m using some in a video I’m recording, and the curse words coming out of mouth were astounding. But the darn foils are so pretty 🤩
I vote for the Holo stripe or just plain holo! Ive wanted to do this for so long. Thank you for showing me how it really goes, not as smoothly as some others have shown. I didn't see it used on a tumbler, but on faux counter tops. Rhonda from Rk3 channel uses foil on a few things. She has some great techniques too. The leaf foil is still not my favorite but at least you saved some cute foil that you didn't practice on. Hahaha. ❤💛💚💙💜🌈🌠
Thank you!! Yes, I gather you can foil all sorts of things, like pumpkins! I have a couple old tables that I want to do a resin top on, but maybe foil could make an appearance on one of them… 🤔😁
I vote for the aqua daisies or holo stripe. Love your videos so much. i don't know that I have the patience for the foil. There would be lots of cussing and possible cups flying. 🤣
Thank you for this video, I have looked at 1000’s of videos and you have just given me the biggest smile with your tutorial. I am new to tumblers (live in Australia) and I have used these foils but on a different medium. They are stunning to say the least. Thank you again for your inspiration and I look froward to viewing your past and up coming videos. By the way where is Ranson WV located?
Great informative video !!! I would have done everything the Same way you did ! Would u use a gloss clear sealer like CCDIY quick coat or no sealer at all ??
Thank you!! Great question! I’m not sure. Gloss spray or the quick coat might work or they might also dull the holographic aspect of the foils. The only way to know for sure is to try it, but I haven’t done that experiment yet. In the meantime, I’ve been going straight to epoxy with no sealer.
OMGoooodness those all turned out Beautiful ✨😍👍🏻love that you show us the what, how and maybe🤔😁 LOL 👍🏻😊🤣I Vote for the Aqua Daisies 💙🌼I have some of the foils in my stash guess I’m gonna have to pull them out now👍🏻🤔🤞🏻✨😍thank you as always for sharing your Fantabulous experiments with us 😍❣️🧋
I just used this and I love it, definitely have to let dry at least 1 hr, and roll the foil slow, I used a nail brush and was satisfied, perfect is overrated 🙂
Great question! Yes and no. I didn't do it intentionally, but when I finished putting the foil on, it was too late in the day to go to resin since I had other things happening. So it didn't get resin'd until the next day. I haven't tried going to resin immediately or very soon after applying the foil, so I don't know if that makes any difference. It shouldn't, because the adhesive under the foil is already dry, and the foil is dry. But I suppose the adhesive with the foil on it might set up a little more over time? Maybe.
UPDATE: I’ve added links to 2 more videos in the Description area, of YT videos that use this same transfer foil. Please choose one of these foils from the video to try next and mention it here in the Comments Section: 1) Rainbow Stripe 2) Silver Holographic 3) Aqua Daisies 4) Holographic Stripes 5) Holographic Shards
Holo Shards 5 would look so cool! I also love these stickers you make. They are so cool. Where did you get the cricut file? They work with these cups so well! XOXO
Do you mean sealing before I apply a coat of resin? I don’t - I learned that this foil gets dull when I spray a sealer on it, and adding resin doesn’t bring the holographic sparkle back. So I specifically don’t seal. Once the foil is on the cup, I go straight to adding a layer of resin. That may result in “fish eyes” where the foil repels some of the resin, so a second layer of resin would be necessary to solve that problem. Hope this answers your question!
Yes, I’ve been watching more of her videos and noticed that she tries to avoid it. I don’t actually mind the straight seam line at all; my problem here was the one spot where I didn’t have good stickiness just happened to be on the seam line. But otherwise, I don’t mind a seam line on my cups. Thanks!!
I vote for the Holo stripe or just plain holo! Ive wanted to do this for so long. Thank you for showing me how it really goes, not as smoothly as some others have shown. I have fast set resin...25+ minutes or less to tack the foil on flatter surfaces, never seen it done, but i hope it would work.
Seems like it should although I haven’t tried fast-set on foils yet.
Hi Luxinda. After you apply the foil did you give the cup any extra time to cure before epoxy?
Great question! Yes and no. I didn't do it intentionally, but when I finished putting the foil on, it was too late in the day to go to resin since I had other things happening. So it didn't get resin'd until the next day. I haven't tried going to resin immediately or very soon after applying the foil, so I don't know if that makes any difference. How do you seal the mugs
