- 88FIVE Live at Amoeba Music Hollywood with Courtney Barnett is brought to you by the Independent 88.5 FM, Amoeba Music Hollywood, CSUN & Saddleback College.
Midday host Mookie catches up with Australian singer, songwriter, and musician Courtney Barnett!
Barnett talks about her fondness for living in the desert, including her love of Pappy & Harriet’s, the iconic desert venue. Mookie asks her about her previous Amoeba Music “What’s In My Bag?” segment she did with collaborator Kurt Vile. Plus, Barnett describes her music discovery journey from when she was a kid and touches on how she gravitated toward playing music during her formative years.
Barnett’s newest album, Things Take Time, Take Time, is officially out Friday, November 12th. Barnett details her unique songwriting process for the album and her entire catalog.
This 88FIVE Live session includes stripped-down, acoustic performances of: “Write A List Of Things To Look Forward To,” “Before You Gotta Go,” “Rae Street,” and a cover of “I’ll Be Your Mirror” by The Velvet Underground.

I find so much comfort in her songs, and I love this release more than the last. Thanks Courtney (and 88.5 for the upload)! I hope all is better for you after your breakup. Would have loved to hear Here's the Thing.

A difficult time I know but you will get better as George Harrison said all things must pass.Been where you've been finally saw it from a different angle the kicker was one day going out of mind the earth said dive into me as soon as I reached the ground I asked aloud can't take this pain anymore there were all these waves emanating from the earth felt I was diving into a trampoline and the earth spoke to me when I asked a question why am I here the earth answered, I will always love you like a mother as long as their is as light is forever.I asked the earth crying why am I here what's the point of my existence here the earth said my purpose here is as a light guardian of the earth to help see the earth as a consciousness of energy the ability to feel love and pain like us humans..back in johañedburg south africa.Iwas crying while listening saved my life will never forget that encounter.cant still believe I had this super natural encounter one of a number of inexplicable experiences I have had at various times in my life
Love it! ❤️
