Even though I love the Dirty Three, Courtney is an example of why I find Warren Ellis a pretentious prat with his view that lyrics distract from the music. I agree with his fellow band mate Mick Turner that good lyrics give a tune focus. I think Warren maybe can't handle he simply cannot write words to a tune.
