    This is one of the best videos I've watched on RUclips. Superior job and excellent video quality. I'm jazzed to make this bag for my husband. I hope you will make a lot more. Thanks.

    Thank you, Michelle!!! This tutorial has helped me understand why my seams on the ends of the zippers look wonky. I enjoy all of your tutorials. Thanks again! :)

    The video was so much better than the written instructions; just made this bag today and had to go to the video to finish it correctly. I got hung up on the zipper needing to be tucked away from sewing over it when sewing the sides of the bag.

    Wonderful tutorial! When I made my Retreat Bag, it seemed that the SF 101 felt too light, and my Decor Bond 809 felt too stiff. Are you using the SF101 here, especially on the inside pockets? The 101 just always feels too light to me.

      I used Pellon 987F fusible batting on the outer and SF101 on the lining and pockets. The great thing about this pattern is that you can use heavier interfacing. I have even made one with Craft Fuse 808.

      Birdcage and Thread I realized my error when I went to JoAnn's and bought more SF101: I had somehow mixed up what I was using, and had been using a thin, almost featherweight instead of the real 101! Duh.

      I used the Pellon 987F and the SF101 and I, too, feel like the SF101 is pretty light.

    Thank you for the wonderful tut..one question though..what to use if fusible fleece is not available in our country..
    Many thanks..!!

      You could use any interfacing you can get your hands on however this pouch lends itself to a sturdy interfacing to maintain structure - especially with the weight of the frame. You can choose a sew in interfacing if fusible is not an option. Just treat the interfacing and fabric as one layer, possibly even basting around the edges.

      I got this fabric at Joann. It is called 'Correspondence' by Tim Holtz for Coats Fabric.

    Thank you for the tutorial...it's perfect. Is it possible to add handles if I want to make an insulated lunch bag

    • @BirdcageandThread
      @BirdcageandThread  6 лет назад

      Yes, you sure can. I have a video on the small size retreat bag on how to add handles. ruclips.net/video/F3SIdj-a3ds/видео.html

    Thank you for the video. I have made 2 of these now and just can't get a boxy top 🤔. The base is fine. Any tips please?

    • @BirdcageandThread
      @BirdcageandThread  6 лет назад

      Great question! When the bag is closed, try putting your fingers of one hand up under where the wire frame bends then tug the fabric at the corners. Do one end at a time. This should give you a nice boxy shape. Sturdy interfacing helps too.

    This looks like the mojo bag made by Sally Thompson.

    • @BirdcageandThread
      @BirdcageandThread  6 лет назад +8

      Yes, you are correct that the mojo bag looks the same as the Retreat Bag by Emmaline Bags. The Emmaline Bags Retreat Bag pattern is a much loved free pattern that was published in 2015 and the mojo bag (Bionic Essentials Bag) by Sally Thompson was released in November 2017 for $9. Thanks for your insight.
