P.S. Just a heads-up....Surprisingly, these pencils are also VERY water soluble, almost could be a watercolour pencil. If you don’t want that on your page.....just be aware.... I personally think of it as a feature and still love mine 🤗
I put these on my wishlist when you first did this video. I pulled the trigger on them when I saw that polys are over $200 now. They were $158 when I bought the full set and I still saved them for "special" books. I just got them today and followed your video again for the sort order, which I think you did a pretty good job on. It saved me so much time, so I really appreciate that you took the time to put them in a good order before swatching. I did have any that were even the least bit scratchy, but I did have several that were split a little way down the barrel. I have successfully used prismas that were split all the way down (my prismas got dropped so many times by the cat knocking stuff off that I literally started keeping them on the arm of my recliner so I could guard them with my life if necessary) . So I'm not worried about the small split in the creyart ones. They were fine doing the swatching. Just from the swatching I feel like they have a more buttery feel than polys. I'll be interested to try blending and layering with them. I haven't decided what I'm going to color with them yet. Probably something Christmasy ;)
Hi Towal, I am so pleased you like them. I think they are lovely pencils and agree that they are softer than Polys. They do layer and blend beautifully. They were such a surprise to me, being a budget pencil. 💖🎄
@@lucyjustaddscolour-adultco3135 I have a bit of a pencil addiction. I could save up for the luminance or pablos that I sort of want, but I like keeping an eye out for budget sets to try. There are actually quite a few sets that I've been really quite happy with. the only set I haven't really liked at all is the Colore (there is an accent in there somewhere, but I am too lazy to look up where and what the keyboard code is). They are the least pigmented pencil I have ever come across. Even doing many layers I was never happy with the pigmentation. The picture you did of the mom & daughter by the lake was excellent!!!!! On the color swatching, I will admit that I was coloring while watching which is cool with me as your "company" made my coloring all that more relaxing and enjoyable. I want these pencils!
I got initially the 48 set for less than $10.00. Loved them so much and based on this review turned around and bought the 120 set. One complaint, somebody else already mentioned it, a lot of the colors seem too similar to each other. But I do love these pencils.
That is a wonderful idea, Terri. I did do a review of the Derwent Artist pencils and instead of swatching I did a humming bird picture. I think it makes it more interesting with what they can do for you guys 💖🤗
Lucy, can you please explain if Creyart pencils are good, why are polychromos better. Everyone seems to be buying and testing budget pencils, but never use them in their colour along. If the budget pencils have vibrant colours, and blend well, why are polychromos and prismas better. Would really love you to hear your comments. In Canada, Star Joy pencils are $100. And Creyart are $60. For 120. Still not a cheap alternative. Is the difference enough to pay $150. For 60 polys. Thank you in advance, love your videos, look forward to seeing each new one.
Hi Sue, very good question. The Polys have a light-fast rating, are made with superior materials, can be brought open stock and I have never had any core breakages with them. The Creyarts are vibrant and beautiful, but not light-fast, they cannot be brought open stock and do not have the quality build or quality control of the Polys. Having said that they really are lovely and I use them a lot with my Polys. The cheaper brands are fine if you just colour in books. If I was thinking about what to buy, I would build up my set of Polys by buying open stock. I think they may be initially more expensive but if you use up 1 creyart you would need to re-buy the whole tin and that would work out quite expensive in the long run. I really hope that helps. 🤗💖
So many pencils on Amazon look exactly like these- black barrel with dipped ends. I find it very confusing. I wonder how many of these pencils are exactly the same except rebranded with different names.
These are also sold in the US as Creyart and by the name Norberg Linden, they are the exact same pencils. As a matter of fact, some people who've ordered the Norberg Linden, got the set but inside the name on the pencil is Creyart. They are not light fast, and the colour on the paper breaks down with water, you can take a paintbrush with water and rub it over your colour and it acts like watercolour pencils, this means you can't use a fixative on your work. Hope this helps 😊
Thanks Melody, I have used a fixative in my Alice in Wonderland book and didnt experience any movement, but that you for letting me know I will be more couscous with them in that case. 💖
I put these on my wishlist after you mentioned them in other videos I watched. I love a good budget pencil set even though I have prismas and polys. I don't feel bad about using the budget sets for just puttering around. I like to save the polys, in particular, for what I consider to be "special" or "premium" books. Probably weird, but that's just me. I love the selection of colors in this set and the gold and silver not being metallic is great. Sometimes I want gold but don't want the metallic sheen. I don't care for speed colors myself. I like to put on a video and watch while I'm coloring so speed colors are pretty useless. I only watch them if it's a YTer that I particularly enjoy and want to support or it's a book/picture I want to see how someone finished it. I like being able to just look up when the color is announced to see how it looks and then go back to my coloring. If people find it too boring, they can speed it up, as you mentioned. Thanks for doing the swatching. You've convinced me I NEED these pencils ;)
You just MADE me buy these! Seriously, these look nice. I had seen these on Amazon but I thought they were just the Castle Arts rebranded, and I have those. Good blending is a characteristic it's hard to find in pencils that fit my budget. Thank you. Great review!
You are very welcome. I really love these pencils. I find them so easy to work with and havent found a paper they dont like yet. I am glad you are pleased with them. I am sorry I MADE you buy them 🤣🤗💖
Thank you for this, I've started using coloured pencils for drawing and saw the Creyarts on special in Australia. I am really happy I ordered them now that I've heard your comments. I watched all the way through and found it very relaxing to arrange my new pencils as you did the swatch. I had a colour left over at the end "Syrup" C011 and have gone back over a bit but can't see where you placed it. Also, the red that you had missing number for is "Ferrari Red" C075 (if you wanted to add the number into your chart).
She did miss it too... I have my C011 Syrup after Cinnamon and Amber and before Carob and Dark Brown as it’s a beautiful red/brown ....but I have mine in slightly different order as I drew them out myself. I have my rust up before Ferrari Red.... so it should be where she put the Rust at 55:03
I love the imagination that it takes to name this many colors, and therefore the fact that so many end up being food. 6 in a row: peach, creamsicle, tangerine, orange, carrot, and papaya. I might add that this one's "mustard" more French's classic yellow, while Derwent's is a more nuanced Gulden's.
Hi Lucy thanks for the video there is not a lot on the creyart pencils. I would like to know something, I have the polychromos and love them do you think they would play well together. Maybe you could do a coloring video with both pencil brand. Love from Canada

I saw your issue with the "Perran Red" and wanted to let you know that the colour name is "Ferrari Red" and the number is C075. I hope this helps and I look forward to more of your videos! Cheers! 💖
Hi Michelle, welcome to my channel! I'm so happy to hear you like it. That is so helpful thank you. I will update my swatch so I have it correct if I use them in a colour along. 🥰💖
Thank you! I'm glad I could be of some help as well! 😊
I was thinking oh no they changed the colour name... But it's the same after all!!
Are these definitely oil based? I have seen others say they are wax. I cannot find anywhere what the base is.
yes they are definitely oil based. They work really well with the Polys too. 🤗💖
@@lucyjustaddscolour-adultco3135 thanks I had some comes today along with another set and more coming tomorrow! I've got 150 Prismacolour premier, 120 Crey art, 174 Shuttle art (these two sets came today) and the 120 Square shaped Brutfuners coming tomorrow. I've also got a small set of Prismacolour verithins, Karrisma colour set (these are 26yrs old & in my opinion the best) some Caran d'ache luminance & Faber castell polychromos. Any recommendations of pencil sharpeners?
@@keepitreal_1 Oh yes what a great haul! I use the metal M&R Sharpener it has two holes one for bigger pencils. Please could you send me a link for the square Brutfuner pencils? I can't find them anywhere. x
I just got this set and my C026 Punch pencil has a dark green core. Shocking situation.
Hi Barbra, if you email them I found them to be very helpful. I am sure they would replace it for you. 🤗💖
Dose this thing holds its pointed nib for a long time
They do like the polychromos 🤗💖
It's Ferrari Red, c075 😊 I spent ages looking for a 'perran' red, which does not exist 😂
They look like Castleart
They do look like Castle Art pencils but these are oil not wax and are so lovely to colour with. 💖🤗
Do u have a link for the flower coloring book I’d love to buy it next month
Hi Rinka, i cant find the exact book available, but here is a link for one of the other Kew Gardens books
www.amazon.co.uk/Gardens-Enchanting-Colouring-Book-Activities/dp/1789501636/ref=sr_1_9?crid=1G5L562RYFU2C&dchild=1&keywords=kew+gardens+colouring+book&qid=1600542859&sprefix=kew+gardens+%2Coffice-products%2C185&sr=8-9
Next time you drop a pencil, put it on a sunny window sill or < 10 sec. in the microwave, let cool and good as new.
Great idea thanks Debi 💖
Looks like a good bargain. Some of the colors look a lot alike, though.
Hi Ivy, I think it could be the lighting on the camera that makes them look similar as I have not notice this. 🤗💖
Ferrari/Perran Red is C075 btw
🤣It is yes! x
I just swatched out my set this week... I love them :)
I think the pencil you listed as Perran red is Ferrari Red
Hi Debra, I will have to go and check now 😁 You are probably right my eye site is not great.
Yes, it’s definitely Ferrari Red, and it’s number is C075 in my set 🤗🤗🤗
Carob is another type of chocolate. Love Terri S.
Thank you, Terri. That's really helpful 💖🤗
Great review 💜
Thank you, Rosie 🤗💖
Is perran red ferari red?
Yes it is Carol thank goodness for new glasses 😂💖
Just ordered the 48 set for $9 us.
I hope you have fun and enjoy them, Adeline 💖🤗
@@lucyjustaddscolour-adultco3135 thanks Lucy.
They look beautiful
Hi Helen, they really are beautiful 🤗💖
Were any of yours off center?
I think I had one slightly off, but the others were all good. 🤗💖
I have a set, and can't get layers to blend, it's like one and done?
Hi Jamisue, oh no! I haven't had that problem. I just use lots of light layers, like working with the polys. 🤗💖
@@lucyjustaddscolour-adultco3135 I am not an adult coloring person. i generally use greys and sepia for shadows and blend with wet watercolor (pencils). Works well with Marco Raffine and Hero but not too well with these. I follow this up with dry CPs, if I can't achieve enough chroma I finish with oil based pencils, i.e. Prismacolors.
Kinda paler than I’d like. I love really bright saturated colors. Most of these are rather muted.
It could be the lighting in my room. They are definitely not muted. 🤗💖
Oh that's a pity, it looks like you can only get them from Ali Express now for £40 😢
Ooooh no they are so nice to use
Carob is a substitute for cocoa beans.
Thank you Alisa 💖🤗
Yeah, carob is a budget chocolate 😂😂😂
$60.00 in Canada
Wow is that expensive? 🤗💖
