This scene here still to this day 38 years later breaks my heart. 1:44 Even though this is "just a movie" everything about this scene is real though. That music that starts when he looks into the taxi and Nancy looks back at him has a haunting quality to it that I am not able to put into words. The music is so 80's b movie sounding too which I truly love and adore. Even at the beginning with Sid walking across that bridge and seeing our two beloved Twin Towers in the background on what was an obviously cold day and knowing Sid, Nancy, and those two buildings are going to be gone. Sorry for the ramble everyone but the haunting to quality to the music as Sid and Nancy are driven away reminds me of the painful fact that time is limited.
@@BEATSTREETSHORTS ok I thought of one of my favorite parts when they are talking to Nancy's grandmother and she tells Nancy not to fib and Nancy says fuck you grandma hahaha
This ending is both memorable and very creepy in its glamorisation and symbolism of Sid dying as he steps into the cab. Sid is humanised a bit before them in dancing with the kids.
@@richardbanker3910 There could have been another ending more realistic, there was always a bit of fantasy in this movie, either way it explained Sid's ending for the people who know what's going on, yet the true ending would have been more sobering.
I remember having the commentary on watching this movie, and I think it was the director who said something like “that’s the most punk thing to do, to put your ego or pride aside and join the boys and dance to some disco for a minute, and the real Sid would have probably done the same thing.” One of my favorite movies, truly a classic. And this is one of my favorite endings to any other movie I’ve seen, maybe my personal fav. The eating of the old pizza inside the broken down abandoned restaurant, I knew he was already dead in the movie perspective. Still gives me goosebumps. Two outstanding performances, Chloe Webb in most scenes even outshining Oldman, very hard thing to do.
@@schmeltingaccident It's a Classic movie, totally agree, this final scene gave me different emotions for Sid, this could have been a glimpse of maybe is move from Punk music as he was kind of reflecting, but also after all the heavy Punk music in the film, this Disco dance was like saying the World was emersed in Disco and Punk was still just starting, I remember watching it 86 and it really helped me understand the whole Punk story especially with Sid and Nancy before Social media could show us. Thankyou for your comment. 😎💙
@@BEATSTREETSHORTS thanks for uploading. Also, I think it might have been suggested in the commentary track (been quite a while since I listened to it) that the little boys with the radio telling Sid to “not be so stuck up” were angels of sorts, trying to usher him in by making him kinda drop the facade and just be himself, to which he just said “why not” kinda and danced with them. Then, the limo pulled up with his bride awaiting him.

Your thinking of the scene when Nancy and Sid are walking through a back lot in New York, when they come across a few young kids playing cards, one kid accuses of cheating at the game and starts roughing him up. When the iconic couple arrives and intervene, one of the boys asks "Who do you think you are?" Where he calmly replies "I'm Sid Vicious!" Then the boys hastily run away
this was the only good scene in this film, it still stays in the memory - I don't think it needs the taxi bit, just the fact that life had moved on and music and so on... It was over in more senses than one - he was only a kid abused by those who should have known better
I always loved the ending to this movie, it's like Sid slightly surrendered and accepted disco to a point, but also right through the whole movie it was just Punk music played, and this disco song kind of reminded everyone of the disco explosion over the Punk explosion 💥
