It's a love story: very heartfelt by Luciano, the story is about a man who wants to marry the princess, but the queen will allow it on one condition: they must not find out his real name until dawn, or he will be killed. So all the servants go around asking all the people in the reign who are obviously not allowed to sleep (Nessun Dorma: Nobody sleep!). If he were to succeed, at dawn he would WIN (all'alba, VINCERO'= AT dawn I WILL WIN). Luciano sings as the person who will either be killed or get to marry the princess (sorry for poor English)
I love the look on Asia’s face during the finally. You could see the emotional ride and almost disbelief in her eyes. That is the beauty of great music, it moves the sole.
Nessun Dorma, translated to English... Nobody shall sleep!... Nobody shall sleep! Even you, o Princess In your cold room Watch the stars That tremble with love and with hope But my secret is hidden within me My name no one shall know... No!...No!... This is arguably the greatest live performance of anything ever, and I would really have to think about what else I might even put in its class...The facial expressions he makes at the end, after he has finished singing, are exquisite...
Have you heard his versions of other arias? I adore Pavarotti - he's my all time favorite. I agree that this performance was unbelievable and absolutely great. But I think he did even better in the 80s - well, technically speaking. And Nessun Dorma isn't even the best aria (for his talents and magnificent voice; his strong lyrical voice could do much more) if you ask me. Che gelida manina, E lucevan le stelle, Una furtiva lagrima, Possente amore, etc... - even more stunning and beautiful.
My mother was a Julliard trained soprano opera singer. Even though I was raised around this kind of music it wasn't until later in life that I learned to truly love and appreciate it. Kid rebelling against the parent kind of thing. My mother has been gone for over 20 years, oh how I would love to go to the Opera with her just one more time.
This performance is free of copyright, you don't have to stop it. It's only three minutes long. I'm glad you noticed the orchestra, this is THE largest orchestra I have ever seen. The conductor is Zubin Meta, he is at the top of his profession. Notice the two video screens, they are not for the audience. This orchestra is so large, all the musicians can not see the conductor to follow his instructions. The video screens are for them. The conductor is following Pavarotti's lead and conveying that to the musicians, they have to be able to see him to all stay together. This choir is the largest I have ever seen, they are angelic. Not just Pavarotti, but every one of these musicians is the best of the best.
At the end is the sound of Victory. Read the story behind what he's singing and you'll get it. Just amazing!!! Great reaction / review. Turandot by Puccini
There are no words to describe what the greatest tenor of all times Luciano Paverotti performed in this clip. I have never heard him sing live. And that's one of the few things I regret in my life ! ❤❤❤❤❤
If you guys ever get a chance to even go to a smaller city production of opera, go check it out make sure they use super titles. It’s like subtitles only they broadcast them while they sing.
The very best tenor to ever have lived and here he is singing the epitome of tenor arias. Flawless, with power and passion as only this man could achieve. His expression at the conclusion shows just how moved he was to share his gift with all who would listen. Bravo & thank you for sharing.
When you said mid way through that you had goosebumps, I thought to myself, just wait til you hear the ending! So powerful! I always get goosebumps too & often times tear up when hearing this.
Trust me: understanding the translation from Italian makes the song so much more impactful. This song moves me on such a metaphysical level, not just because the harmony and the melody work so well; and the music is so beautiful; and not only because Lucianno's voice is so powerful, and his range so perfect for this piece (Although every single one of those aspects create this beautiful masterpiece): It's knowing what the song is about, that transcends the music into poetry and breaks me down and immediately builds me back up, knowing that there was a time when this kind of music was paid for, and respected... and while I would prefer to live in my time now (mostly because I have a rectangle in my pocket from which I can tell time and watch youtube), but I long for the days when poetry and harmony in music was king.
The power of his voice is unmatched. I can't listen to Pavarotti without tearing up. My aunt and uncle were fortunate enough to see him in real life. I've always been jealous of that.
"A special person"...indeed. The best tenor in the world. Maybe when Dimash has paid his dues for forty years and traversed Italian opera we can attempt a comparison.

A once in a century voice. I was blessed to see him live when I lived in Naples, Italy. Magnificent. Asia, your reaction is perfectly normal. He was the best we are likely to hear in our lifetimes.
Since, you both have appreciated the beauty of the opera aria and especially to luciano Pavorotti. It truly shows that you both have the soul for the music. And music experts say that if a person masters an opera style of music, he/she can sing usually casually sing any genre of songs, especially they can hit any note in any genre of song. You guys truly have the class and elegance.
Arguably one of the greatest operatic tenors --- ever. Definitely in the top 3 with Caruso and Placido Domingo. Caruso is hard to judge because the recording technology wasn't very advanced during his lifetime.
I first heard that performance many years ago, and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes. If anyone was inspired by higher powers, it was certainly Luciano.
Worlds greatest operasinger Luciano Pavarotti 😍🥰😘❤️ He could literally sing the phonebook or a recipe and everyone would burst into tears 😃 He was such a talent and it’s so sad, that we lost him so early 😭
Hi guys love your reactions! One of the greatest qualities of Pavarotti, of course in addition to his majestic voice and singing skills, was the emotional charge he was adding to any of his performances. He was a very emotional man and everyone who has the change to know him in everyday life knew that he had a prompt laugh and was easy to tears. He was a man full of life, a good man who cared a lot for his family and friends, a generous cheerful soul. I think his personality enhanced his singing talent and made him so unique and unforgettable. It's true that if you connect with opera singing you don't need to understand the words, opera is drama, the charge of emotion is extreme however, he's singing a story, to know what's the singing about magnifies the experience, don't forget the opera singer is also an actor.😊
My daughter and I got o see him in concert. She was 14. We were in tears many times that night. The emotion in his voice moved us without understanding a word. He’s so charming and funny and amazing.
Opera makes me happy. If you haven't already, PLEASE check out Aretha Franklin's performance of this song at the Grammy's. She filled in for Pavarotti at the last minute. It's the song that opened my eyes to how beautiful opera is. My favorite contemporary is Andrea Bocelli.
This man has one of the greatest & most powerful voices on the planet ✊️😁. It’s also proven to be a popular choice for young operatic hopefuls on Talent shows worldwide. Two who blitzed it on AGT were Laura Bretan & Jackie Evancho 🔥🔥🔥
I love your responses! Don’t be surprised but everyone with a pulse - reacts just like you did. His passion and fabulous voice brings me to tears every time I hear this aria or the entire opera. Opera is powerful. Sometimes I can’t get through it all but such beauty is rare. The words to this are easy to find on the internet. It is about overcoming obstacles and winning! So glad you liked it!💋
I've only just started to appreciate opera., and this one, as well as Pavarotti, is amazing. And Luciano is pronounced as 'loo-CHA-no' in Italian. Great reaction.
The thing about Opera, you either love it or you hate it...If you love it, your reaction will mostly be emotional, just like you said Asia, having goose bumps and tears in your eyes..That was a love reaction, a feeling it reaction so to speak. It moved you..Actually I could see the appreciation in both of your eyes...Loved Luciano Pavarotti! Thank you for playing this particular song!
Italians call it "Il Fumine" you both have been struck by the thunderbolt. Its unexplainable, indescribable, and overwhelming. Its love when it strikes you instantly. Soul comes in different forms. Some expressions of soul can make you cry, some can make you feel victorious, some can make you feel the glory of god. And others are soul destroying, heart wrenching, pure, and powerful. And that is what you just heard.
I have heard him sing this song many many times and each time it brings me to tears. I was lucky enough to see and hear him in person, it was magnificent! He left us much too soon.😢
My grandmother and grandfather saw him live and explained it as one of the most beautiful, out of body experiences they have ever had. I remember sitting in their living room listening to this and asking to hear it over and over again every time I was at their house until I got hooked on something else they introduced me to. I owe a lot of my musical background and knowledge to them and my parents making sure I knew something other than the current music that was going on at the time.
If you ever have the opportunity to see a good production of Turandot GO!!! I suggest a good production of any Puccini opera, as well. Please try opera again with Kiri Te Kanawa singing Un Bel Di from Madama Butterfly. BTW Luciano Pavorotti is one of Dimash's heroes. I long for the day when Dimash feels confident enough to try Nessun Dorma. And Italians pronounce c as hard ch, as in church, so most call him (phonetically) Luchahno.
I listen to little opera or classical, but this is my favorite. Another great classical piece is " Lacrimosa " by Mozart. From his Requiem Mass. Not opera, but an outstanding classical piece.
Y'all should react to his duet with James Brown. I think they sing It's a Man's World together. Of course James Brown sings in English, and Luciano sings in Italian, BUT it works, AND it's phenomenal. Both men literally kill that song together ❤! I got to see Luciano in Dallas years ago. I was gifted the tickets from my boss and his wife who had been unable to attend at the last minute. I started not to go since it was last minute, but I was able to find something appropriate to wear, so I went. It was one of the BEST concerts I've ever attended. I'll never forget it. 🤗💯
Here's the link to these two giants coming together. Luciano Pavarotti, James Brown - It's A Man's Man's Man's World ruclips.net/video/GaB9F3R9cIY/видео.html
Pavarotti's voice is untouchable for me. You will absolutely love the live collaboration of he and James Brown doing Its A Man's World. Find it here and feel blessed.
Any time I hear the Maestro sing it hits me right in my chest. You can't go wrong with anything he does. You should also check out Diana Damrau doing the Queen of the Night Aria. Her control is astonishing!
I listened to this aria several times. When I saw the opera “Turandot” and got the story and the meaning of the words, I wept at the opera. It’s so moving.
I was so envious of my sister getting to hear The Three Tenors in concert. Her husband was stationed near San Francisco and his commanding officer’s wife took her. They moved her to tears❤️❤️❤️
The final expression contains the awareness of the "maestro" Pavarotti of having left his mark on history. To have given the maximum performance of him if this aria from Turandot. For us Italians, no one will ever be able to sing it better than him. A very powerful voice, but at the same time enveloping. Other tenors don't have his vocal strength or his sweetness. When we Italians listen to "Nessun Dorma" we immediately recognize whether we are listening to Pavarotti or other singers. This composition is so beautiful that I have loved it since I was a child, just as I loved the "Pavarotti and friends" concerts. I listen to "Nessun dorma" even in the only symphonic version with the cello. For us, Pavarotti's death was the fall of a living legend, it was a state funeral followed on TV with the participation of all of us and unparalleled emotion.
I've heard all the old tenor masters sing this. This is the best ever. If God were to speak to us this is what he would sound like..Btw Asia, I watched you the whole aria. You are so darn cute in every way. Your smile, eyes, and laugh are so expressive. Luv you too.
This Aria within the story. The story is incredible. A must know. For a male tenor to reach these notes like Pavarotti did.....that is what makes this Aria so beloved and the story unforgettable.
"People's reaction to opera the first time they see it is very dramatic. They either love it or hate it. If they love it, they will always love it. If they don't, they may learn to appreciate it, but it will never become part of their soul."
You guys are 100% THE BEST!!! Thank you for appreciating music in all its forms and bringing it to us. But if you want a real treat listen to Aretha Franklin’s version of this song! I’m serious, yo!! Hit up Aretha Franklin singing this song and it will CHANGE your life!!!!!

It was a pleasure to see it take you unaware. Same happened to me the first time. You raised a good point when you said how you’d rather not know the translation. It illustrates how moved we can become by the shared experience of the human condition. Sometimes words aren’t even necessary. It is a cool story though lol. Anyhow, we’ll done.
You should check him out when he was younger also - he did a slightly longer version of Nessun Dorma, but was holding his notes a crazy long time in some parts: ruclips.net/video/Q_hLh4qCqpg/видео.html
To appreciate Luciano's greatness and talent, I would suggest you look up a performance by The Three Tenors, which consisted of Carreras, Domingo, and Pavarotti...all three were world-class legends, but see if you think one stood out more...in power and tone. You already know who my pick would be for GOAT tenor...
Attending an opera is a great experience. You can tell what's happening based on the emotions and actions of the singers. They also have screens that provide subtitles in English so you can see exactly what they're saying. I hope you'll attend an in-person performance, but they do have opportunities to watch live performances remotely too.

I've probably have seen this several 100 times, but still get goosebumps. He was outstanding! R.I.P. Luciano.
Pavarotti's voice is untouchable for me. You will absolutely love the live collaboration of he and James Brown doing Its A Man's World. Find it here and feel blessed.
Your face, as the song plays, gets more shocked and you can just see the music carrying you away! Lifting you! His is simply the best Tenor ever.
Any time I hear the Maestro sing it hits me right in my chest. You can't go wrong with anything he does. You should also check out Diana Damrau doing the Queen of the Night Aria. Her control is astonishing!
Mario Lanzo comes to mind??
I listened to this aria several times. When I saw the opera “Turandot” and got the story and the meaning of the words, I wept at the opera. It’s so moving.
I was so envious of my sister getting to hear The Three Tenors in concert. Her husband was stationed near San Francisco and his commanding officer’s wife took her. They moved her to tears❤️❤️❤️
Without about the greatest Tenor to ever grace this lovely planet, there is no comparison all modern-day tenors bow down to him.
Thank you for being so open minded, your reaction was wonderful. It was a beautiful performance. 🥰
One of the most beautiful arias ever written in my opinion and one of the most beautiful performances of it as well. It always gives me goosebumps.
He sadly died about 15 years ago and i’ll warn you that you’ll never hear another voice like his at the opera. You can go but don’t expect this
The final expression contains the awareness of the "maestro" Pavarotti of having left his mark on history.
He’s the iconic tenor of all time. 💕❤️
I've heard all the old tenor masters sing this. This is the best ever. If God were to speak to us this is what he would sound like..Btw Asia, I watched you the whole aria. You are so darn cute in every way. Your smile, eyes, and laugh are so expressive. Luv you too.
Whether your a Opera fan or not you can't deny this takes you to a magical place 😊
I am from Italy, Modena where he was from. A true legend, a unique voice that will always remembered

Nothing more beautiful then watching people discover and appreciate this masterpiece
The greatest voice in living memory, I still cry when I hear him sing Ave Maria everytime
The beauty and power are almost indescribable. Love to see your emotions at the perfection.
The way u guys received that.. perfect! You two have the classic soul in you. Great reaction, thank you so much!❤️🇺🇸💪
Goosebumps is a natural reaction of our body every single times you listen luciano Pavarotti
You should check him out when he was younger also - he did a slightly longer version of Nessun Dorma, but was holding his notes a crazy long time in some parts: ruclips.net/video/Q_hLh4qCqpg/видео.html
Paris 1998, check it out!
THIS!!
Maestro Luciano now singing for the Angels!
New hear and this was a great reaction to an amazing voice, great job y'all!
One of a kind mega God given talent
